Singing from his heart and showing his unique smile that makes us feel warm and cherished. Even though he knew he was dying. The greatest bariton ever and one of the most warm persons ever. He will live forever in all of us. We still love you and our love will never fade away. Dima forever!!

I was there. It was the only time I ever saw Dima. I only got into opera about a year after he was diagnosed. I was 13 years old and sitting near the back of the orchestra, and I had a cold. I have more than half a century of opera-going in the future. I’m sure I will see over a thousand performances. No matter how many performances I see, I have no doubt that this will remain one of the most treasured operatic experiences of my entire life, even to the very end. Thank you, Dima. We love you so much and will never forget you. May you Rest In Peace.
This man was a truly gifted performer and warrior. This performance was given when he was quite ill. Words can not express the respect I had for him. His passing was not only Russia’s loss but the world’s as well.
You are quite right, I discovered him in UA-cam a short time ago, but after having heard his unique voice and enjoyed his art and great talent a lot of tears have run on my face. Russia, and the whole mankind have lost a magnificient star. We'll miss him forever...
Do you understand what you are witnessing in this performance? This man was terminally ill and he sang this difficult aria on pure technique. When you think of Dmitri, you think of a singer who sang from his heart. However, here, you get to see the true technician that he was. AMAZING!!!!!
He was a miraculous treasure by himself to be able to perform as well till the last minute of his very short regrettable life😢 💔He's (of course not he was) unique unforgettable and irreplaceable. May his soul rest in peace 🙌🙏
I am crying my eyes out. Can't believe he's gone and how much strength and courage he always had... He didn't deserve all that suffering, he should be here, with us, smiling, being happy with his family and singing his heart out, making people happy only by using his incredible voice... An Angel on Earth. He will be forever missed... 😭😭😣❤❤
Daria Alexandra: I know I am repeating what I posted elsewhere on UA-cam weeks ago, but your emotional post touched my heart. What I wrote weeks ago: It is given to few individuals to bring so much happiness and delight during their sojourn on Earth. God gave us the Grand Canyon, a rose, a hummingbird, Niagra Falls...and Dmitri.
I've watched this video at least one time per year since Dmitri left. It's tremendously admirable this performance considering his terminal disease condition. Of course, he's certainly below his highest level, but it makes me desire to be there at that moment and to appreciate just his pure heart and his pure talented singing art. For me, it's a true demonstration of pushing yourself by your passion until the end. Thanks god we have internet today making possible to access to Dmitri's great legacy forever. From Chile, my respects to the memory and legacy of this great russian baritone.
What courage? Its apparent that he was struggling with the burden of his terrible health challenges for this goodbye appearance. We will never forget that radiant smile that lit up concert halls all around the world.

We are going to miss this great artist, singer, and great human being. He will be remembered in his great moments and performances around the world.
So sad; tears shed each time I watch this. It is so evident he is very will and performing probably tired him immensely but his love of the art shone through and must have been this performance was most likely very emotional for him. Imagine what he felt doing what he loved, singing and sharing his beautiful voice with us. Rest In Peace dear Dimitri.
He courageously fought his brain cancer. This appearance when he was so sick, shows the strength of his character. It's not important the outcome of a battle, but how one fought it, even if he lost. Dmitri lost the battle with his brain cancer, but he lost it while fighting valiantly. Such a strong and handsome man...who would have guessed that, at cell level, in his brain, an insidious killer was lurking. Maybe God wanted Dmitri close to him. May Dmitri rest in peace !

To all the Russian and Russian writers posting here, please know this: Dmitri is a prime example of why we in the West revere and love Russian music and Russian musicians so very much.
you could see Dmitri preparing himself for the song, to sing like this when he was really ill showed how he loved his music one of the bravest people I have ever seen what a wonderful person
I just saw this last performance by Dmitri Hvorostovsky at the MET which brought me to tears. For me he was the best baritone in the world. Despite his enormous success he remained so humble. He will always be in my heart, and it saddens me so much that he had to leave his beloved family and all his fans who were in total awe of him at such a young age. R.I.P. Dmitri.
Amazing !!! He must have suffered from constant headache and kept working without giving a hint of it. Not just a great singer but a great human being !!! May he rest in peace. amen.
RIP dearest Dmitri. Amazing performance while being suffering. He will be in my heart forever. When is my time to go to the other side, I will make sure I will look for him, if so is allowed! Love you Dmitri and his beloved family! God bless them.
Ah the divine inspiration of an artist! How strong is the gift! already sick, no make-up, no scenario - this is pure emotion. RIP Hvorostovky, balshoi spasiba for all the beauty of your art! Bravissimo for ever!
R.I.P Dmitri....we will always remember you from your songs and your fantastic voice ♥️ you fighted cancer like a lion for 2,5 years but you were there to give us all your strenght and love......
We must take in consideration that in this concert he is almost at the limit of his illness! It is marvelous that he never stopped singing! It is said that singing is good for the brain. It is a joke of life that he got brain cancer! Don’t understand nature’s plans!
His physical condition added layers of suffering to a father looking desperately for his daughter... he was able to transcend his own physical despair into emotional despair...
it's a perfect example of today's world: filled with narcissism, arrogance and utter ignorance, people actually think they are near perfection and enjoy spending their time judging and belittling others on social media....This incredible human being never stopped smiling despite the illness that was devouring him inside... what an example, for all! Brave men like him will continue to live in our hearts forever, whereas the idle will be forgotten
What a heartbreaking yet glorious finale! The tears won't stop flowing. Dying on St. Cecilia's day, my Saint day and the Patrion Saint of Music, surely means he went straight through the Heavenly Gates to be greeted by my beloved Luciano and Joan....to sing in glory with them forever....
Verstehen Sie, was Sie in dieser Aufführung erleben?
I almost cried at the end And I was kind of scared in the beginning From how I watched him, being my idol, he did not look like himself, but the immense voice, the noble Dima was still there. I hope I can see or hear someone like him one day, or someone at least as noble as him

Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart!

Ovation tellement méritée... Un grand monsieur !
you could see Dmitri preparing himself for the song, to sing like this when he was really ill showed how he loved his music one of the bravest people I have ever seen what a wonderful person
R.I.P. Dmitri.
God Bless you, Dima! The bravery to perform when you were so ill. Your beautiful voice will live on forever.
Just have heard the sad, sad news of Dmitri's passing. I'm heart-broken. He left us, but his wonderful voice is still with us. May he rest in peace.
Amazing !!!
He must have suffered from constant headache and kept working without giving a hint of it. Not just a great singer but a great human being !!! May he rest in peace. amen.
So sad to hear about his death... His beautiful, warm voice will remain in our hearts forever.
RIP dearest Dmitri. Amazing performance while being suffering. He will be in my heart forever. When is my time to go to the other side, I will make sure I will look for him, if so is allowed! Love you Dmitri and his beloved family! God bless them.
Én is fogok Vele találkozni……..💦🌞🧚🏼🎼💖
Ah the divine inspiration of an artist! How strong is the gift! already sick, no make-up, no scenario - this is pure emotion. RIP Hvorostovky, balshoi spasiba for all the beauty of your art! Bravissimo for ever!
R.I.P Dmitri....we will always remember you from your songs and your fantastic voice ♥️ you fighted cancer like a lion for 2,5 years but you were there to give us all your strenght and love......
Farewell, Dmitri. Your talent, your courage are an inspiration to all of us. Adieu!
What a loss for humanity. Rest in peace, great man!
Lost his voice?? Too many breaths?? UA-cam "critics" are just ridiculous. This is a remarkable performance on every level. Bravo!
We must take in consideration that in this concert he is almost at the limit of his illness! It is marvelous that he never stopped singing!
It is said that singing is good for the brain. It is a joke of life that he got brain cancer! Don’t understand nature’s plans!
Bravissimo!!!
The greatest and most beautiful baritone of the century! An enormous loss to the world of operatic magnificence.
I evo, opet gledam, slušam i divim se. Koliko snage i volje u ovom divnom čoveku 😢
Verstehen Sie, was Sie in dieser Aufführung erleben?
Very very sad. Brazilian fans cry for you Dmitri!
I almost cried at the end
And I was kind of scared in the beginning
From how I watched him, being my idol, he did not look like himself, but the immense voice, the noble Dima was still there.
I hope I can see or hear someone like him one day, or someone at least as noble as him
I have no words. Amazing singer, amazing performer. Amazing man. Have a good trip, Mr. Hvorostovsky. They're waiting for you, to sing to them as you sang to us. Farewell.
BOLSHOI, BOLSHOI, BOLSHOI KAK NEBO !!! BOLSHOI, BOLSHOI, BOLSHOI KAK RUSSIA !!! GREAT, GREAT, GREAT AS HEAVEN !!! THIS IS Dmitry Hvorostovsky !!! Dear, Dear, ENDLESS Dear Dmitry, GOD BLESS The Your BEAUTIFUL SOUL !!! EVERYDAY I LISTEN Your DIVINE Russian VOICE !!! Always with a lot of love and light Your eternal fan Nadya Mirkova and all my big family, and all my friends from Sofia - Bulgaria and all World !!!
I was fortunate enough to be at the MET that night. It is the last time I sas him live. Many thanks for the wonderful performances you gave us throughout the years. One of the very best baryton in the last few years. The greatest Onegin, Posa and Valentin. We miss you very much.
Dimitri - thank you for your love of performing. The hell with the arm-chair critics. You know the joy of performance and excellence that few ever experienced. Continue to find health. You have the love and respect of millions.
Besides, they wish they could sing that good whilst having such a destructive illness. I mean, yes, it clearly affected his voice, but damn that lion could still roar mightily.
Thanks to these videos he'll remain always with us.
God bless you Dima wherever you are.
You will be missed! One of the greatest artists ever! I thought you'd win over the disease. Thank you for the treasures you left to the world of music.
Watching this while teardrops fall from my eyes. Thanks for everything Maestro. You're missed and loved very much.
Jahrhunderts! Vielen Dank für Ihr Talent, wir lieben Sie immer!

He smiled and was happy till the end. I wish everyone to be this happy while they are alive and healthy.
I am so grateful that I was able to see him at the ROH in La Traviata. He was the best Papa Germont I have ever seen. I will continue to listen to his beautiful baritone voice in all the DVD’s I have and in UTube for as long as I live!
Rest In Peace, our Great Artist, the best baritone, the best voice in the world!
incroyable , Dimitri était et est un Dieu. Le MET l'adorait.

É impossível olhar e não chorar. Ele não merecia esse fim. Eu me pergunto: Qual o sentido da nossa vida?... 😔😔😔😔😔😔
Unforgettable splendid man and artist.
I'm crying like a baby behind this KING.
Coming back to hear Dima again....the grief is still fresh whenever you hear that voice.

Dmitri is not only an example of singer and artist. He is an example of a man and a human being, he is enlightened and blessed, besides being a motivator of people, he is also a warrior and I wish him to recover completely.
A legend
Dima, i think now you can hear me - and i want you to know that your unmatched contribution to the world music is a matter of fact. but what is maybe even more quintessential, you made so much good to russian peopple and to the entire image of Russia abroad - that no one among those polititians of 21st century could have even come close to. Your phenomenal baritone is a voice of kindness and truth in this 'through the looking glass' world.... May G-d Almighty grant your pure soul a place amongst righteous souls. you now have time by yourself - to rest and listen to the beautiful singing all over and around you... ThANK YOU SO VERY MUCH...
