In case anyone is wondering this method also works for latex masks. I just tried it and there's no sign of it coming off.
Bladespirit that’s great to know! Thanks for sharing!
How do you place the velcro on if it sticks on one side only?
@@tunasub7735 you make a sort of 't' with the soft Velcro. I cut it about 3" in length and the elastic strap is 1" wide, that leaves an inch on each side that is touching the mask.
Essentially, you would be using one side of velcro as tape, taping the strap down. You wouldn't be using the corresponding velcro strip.
Does it work on cardboard??
Oh my goodness! It’s rare to find easy and accessible solutions to weird problems! Thank you!!!
Of all of the solutions I've found, this is the simplest, most effective way. Thank you!
I didn't know that, thank you for the advice. Video made 5 years ago but is still helping people today, this is timeless advice. I'm gonna buy Velcro for masks!
I have never seen it done like that before that is amazing thanks for that
Wow, this is so smart. I ordered the velcro, can't wait to try it out.
Thank you so much for the tip about how to put the strap on the mask without damaging the mask. Incredibly helpful. Keep up the awesome work. 🤜💥🤛
Good job sir. Great inspiration and advice as always.
Thanks! I've used that for other applications. Never considered this one. Nice!
Hi Mynock! This is really helpful thanks for sharing your technique. Could you help me further by sharing what type of strap you've used here? I'm struggling to find one like this online and wondered if you had a link? Thank you!
Thank you. You saved me money and time.
This was so helpful! Thank you!
Keep up the good work! I wish to achieve your level of skill someday!
Brilliant video mate. This has really helped me out. I actually used that same velcro to stick the mask to the faceplate already! (Its darth nihilus, by the way) So I've got some left over!!!! Brilliant! Cheers man!
Great Tip!, I was looking for different methods for my cosplay
Thanks for the idea. Saved me a lot of time
Simple & Brilliant! Thx
Supercool tips! Thanks
so simple and easy, thank you
Going to try this for my 3d printed Clone armour. Thanks for the great tip!
Did it work? I'm trying to put straps on a 3d printed mask and I'd love to know before I buy the velcro since the 3d printed mask is kind of thick and heavy.
@@abbeycrum2848 honestly? No, it did not. But my Armour build is a little...eccentric. Also, heavier than a mask. I think the method shown in the video is still good. My problems with it are more to do with me and my process.
Thank you for an easy solution!! 🙏
This is amazing, thank you so much. Never thought of this. Don’t even need to bother with glue guns, etc...
This would definitely help for my custom Scream Ressurection mask.
The only mask in the Franchise who doesn't have a hood for the robe.
Thank u. Ur tip really helped
james adamsjohnson glad you found the video useful!
This is amazing thanks
Thank you!
fantastic!!! Thank you so much
Do you have a video of what kind of padding you use? Love your quick and easy to follow videos
Thank you so much
Despite the increase of temperature and moisture from wearing a costume for long periods of time, will the adhesive still hold on a latex body piece? Would it be wise to get the outdoor industrial strength velcro?
do you think it would adhere just as well to eva foam?
Was wondering what you would suggest positioning and method for a lower half mask
I just bought a mask from Walmart yesterday and it didn't come with A MASK strap and honestly I don't wanna keep looking for a mask I like. I have a last minute party to go to this Saturday. So Imma just buy a strap and Velcro and do this. Thanks!!
Dude I sincerely love you bro. And before I go. What Velcro is that and what is that stretchable strap called?
What elastic strap do you use? Complete novice here, but I have a Diehardman mask that requires it. This seems like a great solution for someone who is crap at DIY like me!
Hey dude. I'm making masks from plater bandage. Do you think the velcro would stick well enough onto the inside of the plater bandage? Thanks
holy shit you saved me a fuck ton of work
I know this video is fairly old, but do you know what specific velcrobrand version you used here? I'm seeing a few different "velcrobrand" results on Amazon, and can't figure out which to get. Or does it not matter, as long as it's velcrobrand?
I need this for a 3d printed mask and have a elastic band and will be wrapped around the hat and this velcro is what I am looking for. Wondering to measure the band with a wig inside a cosplay hat and have around so it won't be too tight?
Question Do I go for the VELCRO Heavy Duty Stick On? and what way do I put on the straps on a normal Halloween mask to make it secure for like theme park rides?
This is the mask I'm wearing (DriSubt Halloween Mask Halloween Costume Glowing Mask Scary Light Up Masks for Festival Christmas Halloween Costume Cosplay Party Halloween Props Decorations for Kids Adults) < Look it up on Amazon
It's for when I go to Alton Towers Scare Fest but I want to wear it while on rides, so how can I make it more secure so it possibly doesn't fly off my head? I'm asking cos there's a possibility I might get asked to remove it on each ride unless I can make it more secure, I don't want to keep removing the mask putting it in the public side storage next to the ride for anyone to possibly steal.
Lol awesome bro, thanks 😈
Will this work for a cheap hard plastic mask?
Would this method work for the two piece sith acolyte helmet?
Can you tell me what brand you use? I see the official Velcro brand has a heavy duty but then I see some other brands that say "industrial strength". I did a cosplay mask for my nephew's senior prom and I need to make sure it stays
But wait, the surface of your mask is coated with what? I mean do I need coating before stick the velcro, or I can velcro directly to the foam ?
Directly
Would this work on a very front heavy mask?
Can you do one for “Creativity Street Plain Plastic Feminine Mask, white - 4201”
What about a heavy resin mask? Resin masks are strange when it comes to sticking things to it
I’m not an experienced cosplayer/builder. But one of the issues that I’m faced with is triple digit weather. How does the Velcro do with high temperatures?
I made my son a tmnt shell with hot glue without thinking and it’s started to fall apart towards the end… I just don’t want to go through that again.
Where can I get some of this from ?
Where do you get your velcro and straps?
Amazon has everything.
@@TheFitCosplayer nothing i can find :/
I think he meant stretchable straps and industrial strength Velcro
How much to do a arcann mask for me please like it is in the game when it’s really close / on his skin like in the game when he got the mask in the trailer at the end of the trailer when they revealed the bags and when he looks at his hand and when he ends his brother and also with his back plate with the mask how it is in the game with the back showing of his head with the back helmet plate and the halfmask / his new face attached to it and when he looks up to see his dad with that backplate and mask attached together so I can have mine like it is in the game and also make it how it is with the mask closely to the skin like it does in the game at the end of the trailer and backplate and mask together as one
where do you find velcro like that? Ive tried sticky velcro before and it came off like cheep packing tape
Industrial strength Velcro
@@vicvic889 thanks.
Oh you smart
What if the armor or mask weighs 2lbs or 3lbs?😕
Whats the difference between using velcro and tape? Since you're just using the velcro as tape instead of using the velcro side of it
It would likely be the strength of the adhesive on the velcro. I'm currently trying to figure out what kind of adhesive is used for this, but its a bit hard to figure out. Velcro and their "industry secrets," hahaha.
Hi. What brand of velcro did you use?
Victor Matamoros this is the "Velcro" brand industrial strength stuff, but you can get 3M or any other brand of hook and loop that says "industrial" or "heavy duty", etc.
Links?
What 3d printer do you use?
Gerald Reyes I have several FlashForge Creator and FlashForge Creator Pro printers.
Isn't the mask going to be uncomfortable if one uses that method tho? I don't think that feeling the..."fuzzy" part on the inside could be nice.
a link would have been nice :(
Where do you get the Velcro and strap
Just look it up and easy to find industrial strength, literally just looked myself
Wondering about this in 90 shore urethane…
plain old velcro -- as long as it has the self-adhesive backing
I'm sure you will find good solutions for all your ideas on the Stodoys website.
