@@AndyInTheUK I'm so glad you started doing these because I've had it for a couple years and I happen to be 15 months sober so I'm actually able to concentrate enough now and this is great stuff thanks again!
You mentioned that you are not quite sure of what some of the "Master FX Mix Patches" are. As a former Co-Owner of a Pro 16 Track Analog Studio, I do believe in "Master FX", that "Patches P07-P12", starting with: "HardComp" are essentially Mixdown Stereo "Compressor/Limiters", kicking in at whatever levels are set, regarding: Threshold, Attack Time, Release Time, Soft Knee (easing into the compression), and Ratio (with 10:1 making it a Limiter). Is that concept easy to grasp? Of course not! Otherwise we would all be brilliant Producer/Engineers, right? LOL! Anyway, before I even start using one now, I still have to remind myself of what all of that mumbo-jumbo means. I am sure all of the levels I mentioned, regarding each of those mixdown settings are available somehow and somewhere for inspection. I will check further. Clearly, there would be a distinct difference in the factors I mentioned between: "DanceComp" and "OrchComp". I could also figure it out myself, eventually, and so can you (An Orchestra, versus a tight Dance Mix, to be played blasting through a big sound system..) I am also a former professional Mobile DJ...The best advice I could give to any perspiring (lol) musician is: "If you can't learn how to use it, lose it..."
Hi Andy, great job you are doing on the BR00. My question is that when I go into the mastering mode I get a screen that doeasnt appear to have any info on it. Also, when I try to exit from mastering mode, nothing happens. In the end I have to switch the machine off in order to clear it. How can you exit from mastering mode without powering the machine off. Many thanks Bernie
Hi Bernie. Apologies for the slow reply. You exit from Mastering by pressing Menu, Mastering, and then choose OFF. Then Exit, Exit and you are back to normal recording. It is not very intuitive, is it? You might expect Exit to exit from Mastering. Perhaps you are pressing Menu, and it isn't working? Let me know if it was just that or if there is some other problem.
Issue today. I mastered a song but didn't like it once I transferred to PC. (Vocals too low in mix.) So I wanted to re-master but could not see how to erase the T7-8 VMST track. If there is a way, I couldn't figure it out. I assume then you just re-record over the existing VMST?
Hi Fez. Apologies for being a bit quiet on UA-cam recently. We are in the middle of moving into our new house. Just off the top of my head, Track, Edit, then Delete (or is it erase?) select track 7/8 and delete All, but I will check that when I get my BR-800 here and unpacked.
Hi Andy, once again I am stuck!! (nothing unusual!!). I have followed your mastering process and have managed to get tracks 1-4 onto 7/8. However when I try to play tracks 7/8 there is no sound. and if I pull the faders down on tracks 1-4 , same result. There is a pop-up screen on your video that says mastering track can be recorded on my computer using a wave pad editor. I guess I could find one online, but what is the process to record it onto the computer?. Do I need to go into usb mode first and how would I see it on the computer screen? Many thanks once again Bernie....
Hi Andy, Sorry, have found the wav converter on the BR-800. When in mastering I have selected 7/8 to record onto, but when I start recording the levels for 7/8 do not show any movement, so no signs of recording. Is this normal? . When I preview it the sounds are there, but I would then expect to hear the playback from 7/8 after turning off tracks 1-4, but again no sound from 7/8 or any recording levels showing.. Sorry to keep pestering you Andy, but once I get past this bit, I will be ok....thanks
@@bernieandrews2796 Hi Bernie. I am guessing that you mastered to Track 7/8 virtual track 8 (also called the VMST - virtual master track) That is the default. If you want to listen to the mastered track you need to press the Track button then V-Track, and select Track 8 for 7-8. It is the one in brackets. That V-Track menu shows the virtual track that is playing/recording for each track. Another reply in a moment regarding transferring to PC.
@@bernieandrews2796 The Wave Converter software on the computer looks for a connection to the BR-800. You can move any track data across to the PC/Mac using the Wave Converter, but they are brought across in stereo pairs. The usual process would be to mix down to T7/8 VMST, and the move just that stereo track across to the computer. On my Mac the track data is converted to an AIF file. Might be something different on a PC. HOWEVER, you don't have to use the Wave Converter software at all. If you have Sound Recorder or Quicktime you can set it to record, with the input being the USB connection. Then just play whatever you want and record it onto the computer. Be aware that when you make a master on the BR-800 it will include the Rhythm track too, so you might want to turn rhythm off if you use that method. I feel another UA-cam video coming on. Hope that helps.
@@AndyInTheUK Hi Andy. thank you so much for your support on this. I am wondering now whether I might have a problem with the BR800 because when I go into mastering mode and record the song, it is not being saved into the Sketch folder. So when I connect to my PC via usb, the BR800 icon does appear, but when I look into the Sketch folder, it is empty? Any ideas on that problem? many thanks for your continued support Andy, you are a life saver..... Bernie

Thank you. Learning things myself!
