Enjoy the video guys! This is a full, paid course that we decide to release for free. Grab the free resources for the course here: mastering.com/eq-resources/?el=eq-9-hour-course&htrafficsource=youtubeorganic
I like Dylan already. I wasn’t expecting he’d be the one to teach eq after finishing compression, but the moment I saw his name, I was like yaaaaaaaaaaay. Good teacher indeed.
This is the type of course I’d pay $100 for. To have it free on UA-cam is so crazy. It builds upon itself and takes you in great detail through everything. Big thanks to everyone involved!
so I spent 7 hours learning the call of duty zombies lore. I’m SURE I could manage at least 5 minutes of an educational video in music (I make music almost daily)
You're a net positive to the human race, thanks to you, other humans will be expressing themselves through their art more clearly than they did before watching this video. Thank you so much!
I'm a singer/songwriter and tried to work with a few producers in the past but never could find someone to really match my style (or my budget), so I've decided to learn production myself, which sounds SO overwhelming to say the least, especially when I never intended to. I was nearly about to give up on it all after scrolling through so many complicated YT tips and stuff, when I came across your channel. You guys literally saved me from giving up on this. I went from being so completely confused and frustrated, to so excited to learn because you actually teach people to UNDERSTAND, rather than just throw tips at people like so many other channels. EQ now went from "a thing I use to make good stuff sound better and bad stuff sound less bad" to a tool to use with so much more intention. I am blown away by the fact that your content is free and it's such incredible quality, I love your philosophy on teaching mastering first---you're so right, it's so much better to have this overhead view to know what things should sound like to know what it needs---and everything suddenly seems possible for me now. I'm less than 2 hours into this video, I'm taking notes like crazy and just have to thank you guys so much. tytytyty!!!!
The ear training I get from these long courses put my mer ear training class for my audio degree to shame. Y'all really out here doing the work for free and I can't thank you enough for that
Thank you for allowing me to make music. My album would have taken 2+ years in order to afford to hire mixing engineers. Now I can use these skills and tools to do the best I can do myself. You're truly a gift.
New generations should feel lucky for having the possibility to learn audio mixing for free and hearing in real time the sound examples, without spending money, time in audio engineering schools and books
The only negative thing possible to say about a channel that puts out free information like this is the difficulty trying to digest ALL of it. Superb stuff.
Thanks you a lot. I am a person who can´t afford courses, pro teachers or pro equipment, but try to educate myself with I have at hand and this type of content makes it possible. I have the dream of working in a great studio one day. Like for real, thanks for your help ❤
I bought this one, they gave me the compression one as a gift and some more. They are awesome. I thinks this company is one of the best where you can really learn.
Like a compression 10 hours long video, this one is great as well and really looking forward for the video about using SPACE dynamics in a mix like reverb, delay and other effects!
@@masteringcomDefinitely need such long course videos on Reverbs, Delays, Saturation+Distortion, etc. The EQ and Compression videos have helped me immensely and I'm sure you guys will be changing the whole music production community with these series! ❤❤
As a former music teacher and ARCM, this is without doubt the best music course i have ever enjoyed. Dylan is a GREAT educator and should be rightly proud of this work. Looking forward to compression.
When you said to close ur eyes you never said to open them, so it became a guided mediation and since my name is dillon too the quantum entanglement transmitted everything youve ever learned, thanks Dillon, you may now refer to me as Dillon2.0
I was just looking for EQ videos and thought to myself - it would be so cool, if there was a video about it just as about compressor… and here you are lol
Finally a mixing course that actually tells you what mixing is and how to do it. I watched a lot of mixing content but I never really brought home any valuable information, especially since I don't really have a musical background. Thank you sir!
Thank you so much for this. As a lifetime musician, I put off learning recording techniques due to ringing in my ears. Imagine my surprise, that even with the ringing, I can hear everything you've demonstrated here, all of it. I may not be good for producing others...but I'm definitely empowered to produce my own music now. Wonderful.
Now that I've finally watched the entire video and the compression course as well, I wanna thank you for putting this much knowledge out for free. You have no idea how grateful I am for this. I'm looking forward to apply what I've learned
Thank you for this. I just finished the video. I've been watching it in pieces over the last couple of weeks - taking what I've been learning - then applying them to my mixes. You've helped me immensely. I'm about 3 hours into your 10-hour compression video. It is great as well. I absolutely love your style of teaching. A lot of people who teach have forgotten what it feels like to know nothing - so they tend to overlook questions that newbies like me have. Not so with this course. Outstanding work. Thank you again.
I can't even begin how much favour you're doing to us small producers !!!! can't even thank you enough, handing out knowledge which would cost tons of money !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THanks a million bro !!
You take us on the long, slow journey to getting to hear the resonant frequencies, from identifying them, isolating them, to removing them. That moment where we hear the difference in the acoustic guitar track between fully cleaned up and the original track with all the resonant frequencies ringing out… man…that was an insanely huge light bulb moment for me. That was worth the ‘price of admission’ alone. And I’ve still got 8 hours to go! I cannot thank you guys enough for this. ✊🏼 Edit: HOLY CRAP! I did the Vowel Technique on SoundGym and it worked! I was so stoked about that!! COOL! Immediate improvement!!
Just finished. And knew it was gonna give me so much more to my library of knowledge. Truly... UA-cam ... is the modern day library, but insanely advanced. Videos, ratings, choices, analogies. To all of you that worked on this production, THANK YOU. For the people out there that WANT to optimize every little bit of their musical endeavors...this channel is KING.
This series of long courses are some of the best resources I've seen on youtube, the compression video was superb, can't wait to watch this one and I hope you guys release others... what a time to be alive!!
I was struggling to work with different reverb plugins because all of them have different parameters an hour ago. And I quit, I wished if someone made a clear and concise guide on reverbs. And just now this video showed up in my feed. Saw a comment about this being part of a series and checked your channel and I feel blessed to find a video on reverb. Thank you so much. This week I'm gonna study hard about reverbs.
Wow. I finished the compression one over 3 days and it really helped out with making those settings and dialing in compression. I may have even commented and asked for thus one next. I'm going to be a pro level mixer in 10 hours.
I am watching this course and thinking: Can't believe its actually for free!! Thank you guys so much ❤ !! I am a producer from Brazil and its really expensive to buy good quality courses here, taking the current prices in our country. You have no idea how much contents like these mean for people in the position that I am right now!
Thank you so much! EQ has been an area that has frustrated me for years but this has helped me understand that i need to train my ears and concentrate.
After spending several weeks immersed in this masterpiece, I feel truly grateful for discovering your EQ course. It's simply amazing, and I can hardly believe how comprehensive and perfect it is. I've watched many tutorials on UA-cam, but this one stands out as the best by far. Now, I'm excited to dive into the reverb course. I'm so glad I watched this 9-hour course - I loved every second of it!
God knows this video was literally heaven sent, you’ve provided me with a way to save money and be able to put out music more frequently with this video thank you 🙏🏾
This video would have saved me at least 1 month of studying through normal 10 min UA-cam videos in my beginning. Thank you for such a valuable content - for free! Crazy 🔱
The fact this is free on UA-cam, thank you so much for this information.. I’m only on the second module but the information is so in depth! Appreciate this channel, thanks gents!
I got to the point where i was sick and tired of relying on other people for mixing etc. Ive been after something like this for a very longtime. Thank you!!
The best concrete explanation of how to EQ that exists on the internet. I've watched a bunch of other EQ videos, but this one, this has substance that helps solidify the concepts in my mind. Thank you for doing this.
Yes love you guys for this. Please go through everything. Go through reverb, delays, flangers, everything to do with that category, ect. ect. Love it!!! This channel is a gold mine.
@@masteringcom👀. Also, I don't know if this is something you could do, but I think note arrangement should be one you do. Having a good master and mix comes down to how you layer, and ect. Not too many good videos on how to space things out on the piano roll, or on the general recording level. How to mash cords together that sound kind odd on their own, but together, they make up the puzzle. Stuff like that too. I know this is a mixing, and mastering channel mostly, but sometimes a issue can be solved just back at the notes too. I'll stand buy, don't worry. 👀.
Dylan you are just simply GREAT. I watched the whole Compression video and now going through this one. Just a HUGE thank you for your work. Hello from Poland
I've read several books 📚 went to school, and watched hours of tutorials, and this, by far, is the best video out there without a doubt!!!! The frequency spectrum chart alone is priceless!
Man, that portion on reducing resonant frequencies with the sweep EQ was pure gold. I did it on a mix I'm working on and it cleared up all kinds of artifacts I didn't even realize was there - I just realized something was causing problems. As per the discussion of mixing in mono, the main reason engineers do that is to check for out-of-phase cancellation issues. If you record a guitar with 2 microphones and they are out of phase and pan opposite each other, then when they are played in mono they have a tendency to cancel each other out, and won't be heard.
I have finally come to the end of this course. I've learnt soo much from this video and have made noticeable progress in EQ'ing. Before I had no idea what I was doing and now I can actually use EQ effectively in my tracks. I am now going to practice everything I've learnt and will defo check out the compression and reverb courses as well. Thanks for the video😁.
Again, as with the compression course, I waited until I finished the whole course to write a comment. This course is truly a one of a kind that you can find on youtube, it offers so much information and if you have the patience to watch it all, you are rewarded with so much knowledge and helpful tips. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for releasing this content for free. This is exactly what I’ve been searching for to get a better understanding of EQ without being overwhelmed. Can’t wait to check the compression one next
Instructions unclear, I'm now super hungry... Nah but for real these courses have helped me SO much as a complete beginner it's insane. It has been incredibly easy for me to pick up and I LOVEEE Dylan's teaching style!! Thank you so much for posting these and putting the amount of time and effort behind it all! I'm moving my way through all of them 🙏🏻
I had recording classes in college, but we didnt really cover mixing too in-depth. Performance degrees kinda have to focus on the in-studio stuff which honestly has been invaluable for me as a freelance recording artist, but I always felt like I needed more. These courses have filled in a lot of gaps for me. Even though I felt like I knew about 80% of the information having a more structured approach to mixing my own stuff has upped my game enormously. Thanks for putting this out.
I had years and years struggle with using compressors and eqs and when I say years I really mean it it was so intense that I just left effecting sounds and just tried to going with make everything great at start cause when you knew and learned everything and still having no clue and new information just make you more confuse you just leave it aside watching compressor course and now eq course was just awakening and just putting everything together not to just what to do but know and understanding what is gonna work for situations for you and what you want and need now I have references things to check and intentions to do things and having full control to step back your compressor course was stepping my game up for like years the next day... now with this eq course it's just finished I'm done I'm the best I have full control on anything I want I just can't thank your team and my man Dylan ever the way I should just wish you the bests
Brand new to home music production and wanted to arm myself with as much knowledge as possible before continuing. I've watched the mixing course, compression and reverb courses in the past week. A little over 2 hours in on this one and through all these videos I've taken over 70 pages worth of notes though it feels like I've actually retained most of this since everything is so well explained and demonstrated. This is an incredibly informative series. Thank you for making this available to everybody.
This has helped me level up in so many ways and I'm only 3hrs into it! Amazing content. I feel like I'm getting one on one instruction in a master class session. I thank you for your hard work, time and free course.
I fell asleep watching this video, dreamed about the frequency spectrum all night and now that I’m awake I’m watching it again without even stepping out of bed lol! Thanks for this amazing masterclass.
Amazing! The reverb class and this EQ class have totally changed my approach and gave me something I sorely needed: structure. Just gotta watch the compression class and then hopefully release my first psytrance EP in the next few weeks. Thank you so much for this!
@@masteringcomI have been involved with audio for the most part of my life and this and the compression video have taught me more than any other resource ever have. Thank you.
I don't usually comment on videos after watching them but after spending over 10 hours on this video I had no option loool, Big thank you to you guys for breaking this down, before I was kinda guessing but now im sure of what I am doing moving forward
your long courses EQ, compression, reverb etc. are game changing. i learn so much. i want more and more video like that for any subject of mixing. thanks a lot they are amazing. ouffff!!! love it!!!!!!
excellent. With the compression course, that's 19.5 hours and 24 pages of notes done. Both clear & well structured. Thanks, i await the spatial course :)
Great. What a gift guys! The old school needle DB meter for A/bing the vocal for judging the EQ move is questionnable to. A shortish term LFU match would let us a lot more objective, in my opinion.
Thank you so much y’all! I just made it to the end of this and can’t believe that you’ve given this away for free. It’s an amazing course and Dylan is a frickin awesome teacher. Thank you 🙏

Gosh, too kind. God bless you guys.
thank you thank you thank you :) Jah bless! also for the compression vid

Honestly 🥲 it’s amazing 🤩

your compressor course was stepping my game up for like years the next day... now with this eq course it's just finished I'm done I'm the best I have full control on anything I want
I just can't thank your team and my man Dylan ever the way I should just wish you the bests
YESS LETS GO! Ive been watching the compressor course and was HOPING you do a long course for EQ, thank you man!
Yoooo 9hrs?
That’s insane. Thank you so much
These series with the compressor one is amazing. This is really what i needed and it's free!
Amazing! The reverb class and this EQ class have totally changed my approach and gave me something I sorely needed: structure.
Just gotta watch the compression class and then hopefully release my first psytrance EP in the next few weeks.
Thank you so much for this!
best of luck to you with your ep man
best of luck man do send the link to it here once u release it
feel really blessed with these amount of free educational content. can't thank u enought
Gentleman, I have no words. I am so excited about this video, cause Im still digesting the one with 10 hours of comp!
Holy cow. Thank you! I love the Compression course. I was wondering if we'd get another one :)
Do you understand why we say Holy Cow? Think how Chick-fil-A mascot is the cow and how Chick-fil-A is a Christian company.
There’s even more coming 😊
@@masteringcomI have been involved with audio for the most part of my life and this and the compression video have taught me more than any other resource ever have. Thank you.
@@AFRoSHEENT3ARCMICHAEL69 No, the term "Holy Cow" comes from the Golden Calf story from the Bible in the book of Exodus.
More???? Tell me, tell me! :)@@masteringcom
Not just watching but taking notes too📝. Thank you so much for all these longer videos ❣️🤝🏻
I don't usually comment on videos after watching them but after spending over 10 hours on this video I had no option loool, Big thank you to you guys for breaking this down, before I was kinda guessing but now im sure of what I am doing moving forward
just finished this course. THIS IS GOLD.
your long courses EQ, compression, reverb etc. are game changing. i learn so much. i want more and more video like that for any subject of mixing. thanks a lot they are amazing. ouffff!!! love it!!!!!!
3 hours in and wow, this is absurdly useful. Thank you for giving all this out for free!
excellent. With the compression course, that's 19.5 hours and 24 pages of notes done. Both clear & well structured. Thanks, i await the spatial course :)
Liked this because its 9 hours. Just started. Thank you in advance.
I feel like I lost 10 months not having seen this video. Just like the reverb one, it's the single best course I've ever had on the subject.
Thank you so much! What a great time to be alive. No more excuses
This is why the internet exists.
Thank you, my good sir.
Proabaly one of the best courses I have seen on UA-cam. Thank you.
Great. What a gift guys!
The old school needle DB meter for A/bing the vocal for judging the EQ move is questionnable to. A shortish term LFU match would let us a lot more objective, in my opinion.
Thanks a lot, I just finished the 10 hours compression course and i learned a ton from it! I couldn't thank you enough
Thank you so much y’all! I just made it to the end of this and can’t believe that you’ve given this away for free. It’s an amazing course and Dylan is a frickin awesome teacher. Thank you 🙏
Thank You for sharing this with the community. No tutorial goes into this amount of detail and I'm baffled as to how this is free.
Dude this is amazing
