- Rings of Power is going to continue to air on Amazon Prime (next with Season 2), being the largest Tolkien project in the works at the moment. Today, I will discuss why, despite my reaction to Season 1, I will continue to watch and review the Rings of Power show. Thank you all for watching, let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

It is clear to me that Old Man Willow is behind of all this, since he harbors such hatred against all who go about on two legs. I am a glad an honest man like yourself remains on this thankless job.
The two positive things from rings of power: 1. Your awesome episode reviews 2. The hilarious memes surrounding Galadriel. “Conflicted 😡?” Lol 😂
One more unexpected positive; it made me appreciate the Hobbit films more
@@justinbowers2749 That is a positive. Yeah they have flaws(mainly the love triangle, adding Legolas, & Azog) but those movies are great. Mainly because they actually stick to the book. All the classic characters didn’t change at all.
I think you mean Guyladriel
I always looked forward to your season 1 reviews. Season 1 was 95% awful, and i honestly don't expect it to get better.
I think it will get worse
I heard they were going to add some new characters that would drastically improve it. They were going to put two robots and a cheesehead in the front row.
@@yoyoma2227if the rumours are true then it is gonna be beyond awful
@@Didymus20X6 you had me on the first half lol 😂
It’s impossible to make good tv or movies when you are treating the source material as ‘a platform’ to exploit vs a labor of love
Shouldn’t even be legal to butcher the work of a deceased great far beyond anyone working on RoP despite their hubris
thanks, for taking 1 for the team
The only thing on Prime that I like are the terminal list and Reacher, as a huge Tolkien fan myself, I couldn't even get through the first ten minutes of the first episode of rings of power, and I won't be giving it a second chance after all the backlash against the fans when it got negative reviews.
What about Good Omens?
The Man in the High Castle was pretty good (its a amazon show) if you like history. But i only watched the first few seasons to be honest.
Read the book some years ago. Read the book it's better
The Boys is incredible but now I'm forgetting if that is amazon
If the rumors are true about that spoiler leak detailing what season 2 is going to include, then it's going to be pretty rough for us Tolkien fans for sure. But I will still look forward to Yoystan's thoughts about it all nonetheless.
Oh my Gosh I really hope Tom Bombadil isn't Melkor even more so with that Spider and Goldberry. Yuck! Hello, yes I'm still around, and I just flat don't know how to
feel about...this series continuing. House of the Dragon S2 has potential and the Percy Jackson show that's airing right now shows that you can still make a show
that's different from the book and still care about the source material but, this looks grim. And not in a George RR Mar---scratch that, that needs to stay far away Middle
Earth! I did see some cool news that Elf Quest is going to become an Animated TV series from the Spirderverse People. That's got to count for something right?
At this point I'm exited about all the fun rosting videos we will be getting ;D
@@resathe6760 Same here. I have to admit they're hilarious.
@@resathe6760 Oh there's going to be
allot of Roasting! That's for sure.
Between this and Wheel of Time I'm
not what's the biggest burn.
You... really think Tom Bombadil and Goldberry are going to be in it and Tom will be played by the same actor as Melkor?@@YamiSpyroX
The Rings of Power has no hope of improving without constructive Criticism, even if the criticism doesn't help ROP,it may help future works do better.
Only way to save it is to retcon rop and start over
I’d agree with you there but it’s got to be constructive which some of the criticisms isn’t
@@robertmaxwell1016its honestly sad because it could have been such a great show. The way i see it, it was a huge scam. Amazon got f'd on a $1b investment
It can't improve. They have laid such a poor foundation that it is terminal
Been watching this channel for years and you will have my support for years to come. This is my #1 go to channel for any Tolkien related content. I trust no one more to express my own voice and opinion when it comes to Tolkien related content. I will follow you to the end, and to the very fires of Mordor.
You were perfectly calm in your first season review. You gave that show more patience than it actually deserved (though it's probably for your viewers' sake that patience is given at all).
Agreed! Except for episode 5, that was... something else.
Your reviews were cathartic for me and my wife as you just expressed what so many LOTR fans were feeling. It was helpful and refreshing to have a public voice calling things out for what they were. If season 2 is anything like season 1, I will look forward to your reviews!
I get it. I love Tolkien, and hate ROP more than any tv show i have ever seen in my entire life, but i get it. You save me from having to watch it myself.
I enjoyed your reviews even tho i didn’t watch the actual show
I appreciate you being upfront and have come to respect you as a fan. Not sure I'll watch that particular content but I will continue to enjoy the rest. Best of luck and continued success.
It's important to have honest reviews, positive or negative, about things like this. It's especially important for long-lived and much-beloved properties such as Lord of the Rings. You can't just say "Our show is based on Lord of the Rings love it or you're evil!". Negative reviews are important in these situations, and I trust few as much as you to speak out properly.
MOTW is the best Tolkein channel on UA-cam. I didn't finish rings of power, I knew it wasn't for me. To be honest, I prefer your critique of the show because it is objective. A lot of other UA-camrs reviewing the show are overly emotional for my taste. I think all of your content is great, and look forward to your videos, whatever the subject might be!
GirlNextGondor? The Red Book? Tolkien Untangled? VoiceOfGeekdom? Tolkien T Shirt? , hello future me? Etc
@@Makkaru112 InDeepGeek
You being fair and honest about any of your reviews or content is why I'm a fan of your channel. You don't go on some rant filled hate review to gain traffic like I see on a lot of these "Rage Monger Barrons" channels that pollute UA-cam, I applaud you! Keep em coming!
Right because RoP was SOOOOOO faithful to the Canon right? We should be upset that Amazon RAPED a beloved IP. A piece of Western History. You're damn right I'm upset about it. Everyone should be upset about it.
For morning came, morning and a wind from the sea!
Very well put, sir. I always appreciate the way you honestly and humbly express your opinions. While I personally am content to ignore Rings of Power completely, I fully respect your position. Keep up the good work.
So that we dont have too?
Dude! Yoystan! Yours is a channel that covers all that is Tolkien! So of course you should cover RoP season 2. You care for the subject matter, and as such you keep up to date on news at all times, and you give your honest opinion to boot.
I follow you for the tolkien lore foremost, but i also follow you because you keep me up to date on all thats happening in the tolkien-verse. Keep doing what you’re doing, in your way. And appologise to none!
As far as Tolkien lore channels, you really are the most honest. Keep on reviewing!
I really want the series to be good and something to look forward to every year
Remembering the first videos you made. I’ve been following you since then and will continue to do so. I think you’re doing the right thing. 🙏🏻
You sacrifice is appreciated.
Bro is really taking one for the team, this show causes permanent physical and mental damage.
Yes I will join you in reviewing ROP it is lotr content after all. Just remember that "The sea is always right"... 😵💫😬
Bad LotR fan fiction doesn't make it LotR content. Making content on it only validates the decisions of those with high purchasing power.
You have more right to give your opinion than most because of how knowledgeable you are on the content, of course we are going to want to know how you see the show and what you see in your review that non-Tolkien channels miss
It is a bad show that tarnishes Tolkien's legacy.
Thank you for the honest approach.
It doesn't tarnish or diminish his legacy because this isn't something he'd have ever approved of.
This is an insult to his legacy, nothing more.
Please don't be dramatic the books exist still nothing is tarnished, you don't like a show get over it, it happens.
I hardest thing about the show I was hoping for show about second age events , instead it was show with mo understanding of Tolkien's concepts.
Exactly my thoughts. With the Tolkien estate being rightfully protective over the LOTR IP it was such a disappointment to see a show that had the potential to be amazing. But the writers choose to ignore just about every detail of tolkiens world except that "huH DurRr THeRe ArE MAgiC RinGs and ElvEs"
Man you don't need to worry about explaining yourself, you've done incredible unbiased content in every way, I love your content and I will watch it regardless of what anyone thinks or your opinions. Your opinions are what makes me take a second look at certain things for lotr and I love that!
Fully respect and agree with you. Your channel is great and I very much love and enjoy it’s various contents, so thank you very much. I will watch Season 2 and all succeeding seasons till the end… Regards🇶🇦
I'm glad to hear this, hearing you explain what they did wrong and what could make it better is really good.
I do not usually comment, but i think some feedback might be useful here. I completely understand your reasoning, and you are right one hundred percent. But every time something reminds me about the existence of this show, it feels like a gut shot, even though i watched only first two episodes. I guess you do a good job explaining to new people interested in Tolkien why some people might feel that way, so best of luck to you. Anyway, I hope i did not rant too much, I did it only as a feedback kind of thing.
Edit: Still gonna watch the other videos, if it was not clear from comment above.
Been a silent watcher of your channel for years. I have no desire to watch Rings of Power (not until I hear news of a marked improvement in the quality of the writing and also the writers showing some respect and adherence to the lore). Your explanation as to why you will continue watching Season 2 makes perfect sense. I definitely will be tuning in to your channel to get an unbiased and honest review and recap each week. Annon allen Yostan🤘.
I love your content. You won’t be losing me. If I could move to Middle Earth, I certainly would.
Arda is our world. Middle Earth is our Midgard. Remember this dear one ❤
You have my support 100%. I trust what you have to say because your honest and measured responses merit it. You don't shout with glee at every ROP misstep. The show obviously pained you far more than giving you joy. I hope that when it eventually airs, season two doesn't ruin your year.
😊😊😊❤❤❤😊😊😊
Watching your reviews was fun after each episode. I'm more interested in the comparisons with the books and the discussions that stem from this, than the show itself.
I like your channel, do what you want, just please continue to make content outside of that show so I remain interested.
Yeah. I am the same way. But with anyone else- not just with Tolkien stuff if you go against mainstream narratives in any way you’re labeled a bigot or whatever else. Ontop of the fact even just recently I invited someone from here to join my LOTR discord server but this person in the comments conversation apparently was like “I looked at your channel and don’t agree with your rhetoric so no thanks” as if this person would have but I don’t even have really anything on my community page that’d garner such a weird reply. And I don’t even make friends that way. I don’t need people to have all the same ideas and beliefs as me. Since I want to actually grow and learn lol
I have watched your shows a long time and you are increasingly good. Thank you! 😊
Many LOTR channels showed their true colours when they shilled for ROP, you however stayed true, that’s why I’m subbed.
How? This dude shilled pretty hard
@@Peak_Aussieman How so? He never went to the all expense paid events and reserved judgement until the series actually put some shows out and I don't remember him saying it was a good show.
Now if reserving one's judgement until there is something to judge is shilling then I guess he's guilty, but he didn't ever say it was a good show. I do remember he liked the trailer's views of some of the background. Hardly shilling, I mean it did have some good visuals, but then they started talking and fucked it up.
The Doogie Howser Elrond bugged me, couldn't find a masculine Hugo Weaving type Lord Elrond? I guess to the Bobbsey Twins writers he was _their_ idea of the Son of Earendil.
Most Tolkien youtubers were publicly critical of ROP, overwhelming really. Your narrative is not only incorrect but makes you look like a silly person.
@@uriustosh Nooooo! This crummy fandom has been subverted by paid activists and shills. How else do you explain the advent of the cringey "super fans". No, this is doody, a big fat wad of doody! Reeeee!
I respectfully disagree sir...
@@MountainFishertheir take on Elrond grew on me to be honest, but Hugo as good as he was, was never Elrond as I'd envisioned him either.
I’m a Tolkien lover who has an open mind. I didn’t like how the “woke vs anti woke” narrative took over the RoP discussion initially, I just wanted to see a great story. I was all for doing new things, new stories, new characters, etc. But this product has not done that. They haven’t attempted to explore what Tolkien left unexplored. They have instead attempted to rewrite a timeless classic which so many of us love, but then not even be thorough in that. It’s one thing to do a bad adaptation, it’s another to seemingly not even try.
Lol I didn’t know there was any division in the fandom… I think it’s pretty universally agreed that it’s not only a bad adaptation but just a poorly written and executed show altogether 🤷♂️
Random Film Talk channel does an excellent job breaking down each episode from a purely technical perspective and gives a master class on how this show violates all the rules of effective storytelling. It’s a must watch
I appreciate your Tegridy.
I cannot wait to make fun of season 2
I agree that you should continue to cover the show; it is important for there to be reviews from the perspective of Tolkien fans. I enjoy lore-based critiques from knowledgeable people.
If I still have Amazon Prime, I will watch _The Rings of Power_ - mostly out of morbid curiosity - but my expectations for it are very low.
In Season 1, a) Galadriel is the only elf who remains vigilant against Sauron, b) Galadriel is the greatest physical warrior in Arda (easily able to kill a troll in single combat), c) Galadriel is physically invulnerable (incapable of being hurt even by molten lava), d) Galadriel is the one who motivates (and trains!) the Numenoreans, e) Galadriel comes up with the idea for the Three Rings, f) Galadriel is the only one with the know-how (and the raw material) to forge the Three Rings, g) Galadriel turns Sauron into the Dark Lord by refusing to go out with him. Given this and the rest of the alphabet, why on Earth would you spend time reviewing anything that comes from this garbage? You say you plan to discuss it since it's the major LOTR production currently being made. But aside from a few names, this thing has literally nothing to do with Tolkien.
To be clear: I wouldn't dream of unsubscribing to your channel! But absolutely no good can come from good-faith sifting through bad-faith garbage.
@@saintdonoghue At least Critical Drinker and Nerdrotic will give us some entertainment value from it.
@@saintdonoghuewhat is bad faith garbage?
@@Didymus20X6they actually know what they’re talking about. Watch the recent giant group live stream. So much great content in that video alone. Believe me!
Thank you for acknowledging this. Its along the same lines as "Never deal with terrorists".
Thank you for remaining steadfast, faithful, and transparent
The world is in such a weird place that people truly believe you can only comment on something if you like it, or you agree with group think.
Tolkien himself would be disappointed in this modern mind set.
Thank you for keeping it real 💯
That makes perfect sense. Although I sometimes just wish I was in an alternate universe where all of this had never happened. So at least I get to see it through your lense:)
I think that your decision is a good one. It will get you more revenue, at at least some degree, and I think you're right that it deserves to be criticised/critiqued. For me personally, I'm intending to watch the first 3 episodes, and if it is better than season 1 I'll keep going, and if not I'll stop and just watch your reviews. Because if I stop and your reviews seem to indicate that it improves, maybe I'll go back to it
Keep up the good work. You watching (& reviewing) ROP means I don't have to. I've better things to occupy my time than watching this show myself. I don't expect it to be worth watching (ever), but I do have some curiosity about the show's content. Looking forward to more from you on this.
I've been a LotR aficionado since 1974, and I'm not going anywhere, bud.
100% lore or not I still love everything middle earth related, yes I have several (and severe) issues with it but I'll still watch it :)
Yeah dude, i wanna know what im missing out if its bad. Keep up the good work!! I got to know u from the preston/redteamreview discussions. Keep up the good work!
I’m not going to be watching the second season, but I will watch your reviews, so please keep making them haha
Absolutely you should continue to review it. Big Tolkien content creators should have their voices heard. Your first review, as well as Nerd of the Ring's reviews were great and spot on in my opinion.
That aside, I still am surprised by how much people disliked the show. I'm a huge Tolkein fan myself, and yes, hehe, I agree with many of the critiques of it, but by and large I still enjoyed watching it.
You reviewed the shadow of mordor games, and there was clear not lore accurate aspects to the game, but we're still glad you did review it, I am glad you will give an unbiased opinion, I watch your channel specifically for your reviews on Tolkien's shows and movies and how it compares and contrasts with the books. Keep up the good work. Don't feel obligated to watch anything awful, but know it is always interesting when you tell us your thoughts and the difference between it and the original books.
shadow of mordor and war are phenomenal games with a great a story and next gen game mechanics ( nemesis system). only issue ofc the tossers copyrighted it, which fcking sucks.
as for its lore, its a fan fiction, thats all, it never pretended nor claimed its a 'retelling of tolkeins world like he wanted it to be', its a spin off of a made up character in a region not all that explored in detail and was fun, cool, and a hell of a good time to play.
Not to mention I got to live my dream of being a nazgul...so good!!!
I respect your decision on this and please keep it up!! Mainly because it's means I don't need to watch it myself and I can still know all that they got wrong just watching your reviews!! 😂😂😂
I appreciate your honesty and your integrity. You didn't take any of the freebies and bribes from Amazon, leading up to Season 1, that many other Tolkien tubers did. I cant but take their opinions as disingenuous.
Thanks for watching RoP, so we don't have to. 🙏 The show is an abomination for those of us who love the lore. Long live the Fellowship of the Fans.
Your season 1 reviews were perfect, it's always nice to hear everyone's opinions on an adaptation. I wholeheartedly agree with you, the show deserves to be reviewed by everyone, especially those who don't like it. I strongly dislike the first season and I don't think it deserves to only have positive feedback, that's part of why I watched the whole season through. That and morbid curiosity of course😭
I will watch the second season, I just honestly don't know how far I will get - it genuinely has to be huge improvement on the last season for me. And I don't mean that just with regards to the lore, which was often ignored or changed into ridiculous things (the whole mithril being the big one I think) or not utilized enough, but just the writing in general. If it's going to diverge from the lore to the degree that it seemed to in the first season, it at least has to be good.
Mind you, if meteor man is Gandalf that might just put me off completely.
Glad to hear you will continue covering this show. The greatest threat to Tolkien's work is not the show but people believing the shows aspects are cannon to Tolkien's work. We need people like you to sort out the nonsense so we aren't fooled by Amazon's product
If there is anything good that could come of this show all I want is a high quality scene of Sauron just wrecking the sh1t out of Elves and Men once and for all! Like the Vader hallway scene in Rogue One. That's all I want but I'm sure they will screw that up too 😂
Very nice! I enjoyed your season 1 reviews. The madder, the better! ⚔️⚔️⚔️
I look forward to your well reasoned reviews. ❤
Well said!
The rumors are unhinged , but then again it’s Amazon endorsed by Simon Tolkien , so anything is possible …
"Why not let people just enjoy it?" If someone really enjoys something, how can someone saying bad things about it ruin it? The whole point of criticism is to point out a works good aspects as well as its failures. Those who want to enjoy it, and think you saying bad things about it will ruin it for them, need to just take their own advice and not watch your review. Problem: SOLVED!
The show is awful, and I'm personally looking forward to people like Nerdrotic and Critical Drinker ripping it apart for the garbage it is.
His recent giant group livestream was amazing even George The Giant Slayer was there
You should definitely watch the series Yoystan. You have this platform but more importantly the knowledge to tell us the differences between Tolkien’s works and ROP.
I'm not unsubscribing from your channel based on how you feel about one show, good or bad.
I'll join you, and I honestly hope that the second season will be better for story telling's sake.
I believe you were calm and thoughtful during your season 1 reviews. I'll be watching your reviews over the actual show, anyways.
The line we walk is this. If we watch and ratings go up, everyone thinks it’s good it starts winning awards and so on. It’s not and it’s almost sacrilegious to me. But I do understand your position I won’t watch s2, maybe I’ll just watch your synopsis. lol. Good luck. Love your channel
Hey. I’m a fair weather watcher of your channel. I avoided Rings of Power and everything related to it because it was obvious to me what it was doing and where it was going. The one thing I appreciated about your channel is the lack of drama related to it. I come here for the analysis and essays related to Tolkien’s work.
My recommendation is to just keep doing what you did for the first season and continue to avoid any of the drama stuff. Plenty of other channels for that. However, I do understand that those types of videos get clicks and views and this is a business. Do what you must in that regard. You are really good about labeling your videos, so I never stumbled upon things I don’t want to listen to/ watch. I hope that if anything changes that your steadfast labeling will at least continue.
Thank you for your great content. It’s always a highlight for me to watch one of your videos.
You’re fair in your assessments. It’s your job to review Tolkien content regardless of quality. I appreciate your honesty in your reviews. You know so much more about the lore than I and always like your videos.
I completely respect your argument. From my own point of view I go further: to expect Tolkien-level craft from every or any contribution to the Middle Earth legendarium is to be too 'precious' with our own criticism, and to underestimate Tolkien's achievement. I welcome every contribution to ME, and do not make quality judgements based on some kind of social media polling. I make this point as one who read the Fellowship in the same decade that it was published. Let us not be thumb-orificed about this.
You’re one of the few voices of reason when it comes to RoP.
I would love to hear your analysis of what the LOTR/Tolkien legendarium community is. There are die hard by the book people and as the ROP has shown, some with a looser appreciation. An examination of the who's, where's and why's of how the community has evolved would be an interesting study.
When I heard the Tom Bombadil thing I was on a zoom call listening to this in the background. I had to mute myself and turn of my camera to shout “WHAT?!”
I have a lot of respect for your content and feel that you're doing the right thing by continuing to review their attempts at Tolkien's work. I myself am fairly passionate about Professor Tolkien's body of work and I know many others are as well. I wouldn't want this to be a huge point of contention within the fandom but here we are. Those of us who have been with you for many years will continue to support you and if some unsubscribe then so be it. I'm not opposed to watching your reviews but I won't be watching the original series unless they do a better job with season 2. I'm not holding my breath 😊
People who watch the show need to know the differences between the books and the show, and therefore, how bad the Rings of Prime really is. I think it is an excellent idea to call out the BS. Good on you Men of the West. Much love.
Would love some more videos on the community as a whole
I'm glad you will continue to review it honestly. I left a comment on InDeepGeek's channel that I was quite disappointed that he never states outright that this show is crap. He KNOWS it's crap. How could he not? And he yet he soft balls every discussion of it. It's like calling a werewolf a bad dog. And we know why he does it, and it's VERY VERY disappointing, and does lessen his credibility in my eyes. I still watch his channel, but now I take his estimations with a huge grain of salt.
All I want is honesty in a review.
The one thing that I don’t see mentioned much is the presence of the gods of Middle Earth when there was worship of Eru Illuvatar on Numenor and later unfortunately a temple to Melkor. This will be a major problem when time comes to destroy the Island of Numenor.
I was so exited to see season one, until I actually saw season one. I very much appreciate that you going to continue to cover these. I value your opinion due to your passion about Tolkien. This will enable me to decide if Amazon changes the direction. I do not plan on watching this because of how far off the source material they are, but if they pull it back together I would jump back into it in a heartbeat. This allows me to have a view into the show without supporting it myself by clicking on it.
I listen to your channel because I WANT to know your thoughts on ROP and other LOTR topics. Thank you.
Good criticism is always worth while, and I certainly don't think you will hate things just to hate them. I was mostly okay with the first season, but it definitely had problems, just as a TV show, and so I'm hoping they will improve things for the second season. Even if, in the end, it just ends up being seen as some kind of highly produced, over-advertised fan fiction, I do agree that it creates opportunities to consider and understand Tolkien's works. Keep up the good work, yourself, and let's see where season 2 takes us.
Omg a Melkor & Ungoliant to Tom Bombadil & Goldberry crossover 🤣 Personally I love the idea because the more insane they make the show the more obvious it is that it’s not LOTR. At this point I am grateful Rings of Power is such a disaster because it guarantees no one will ever mistake it for the work of Tolkien. The more insane the plot lines the better…bring them on! 😂
I hope you are right, because frankly RoP could taint the original work by giving it a bad name that would make people less interested in it. Especially if they come across the show first, read the books afterwards and don't understand why they are so different.
I'm glad I am not the only one, at this point I prefer the show to have only original storylines and characters so they don't ruin Tolkien's lore.
I have enjoyed rings of power. Love the characters. I hope it continues.
Great Video! I really appreciate the fact you don't just bash the show, despite your feelings towards it. I feel like most others would try to smear it as much as possible because they didn't like it. I also agree with reviewing it, even if you don't like it. If people only watched/didn't watch it because they did/didn't like it, then it would just be extremes!
I look forward to the rest of your videos, hope to see more of this respect you give towards people with different opinions!
I for one look forward to your breakdowns of season 2. I enjoyed your perspective on the first season and it was certainly more entertaining than the show itself. As for the rumor of Silmarillion content, I really can't see how that could improve the show at this point. The first season was already incompatible with its contents and aside from maybe Annatar there isn't much they could bring into the 2nd Age. And that Tom and Goldberry rumor is pure crack fanfic quality there.
It’s nice to see you take this show on fairly, but honestly.
I watched this series before watching the Silmarillion, and even then I thought it was a massively dull and poorly written show. Now that I have read the Silmarillion I dread to see in real time this adaptation of characters and stories I have grown to love.
When I read the Tom and Goldberry thing I got up from my chair and paced my room. I did the exact same thing when they explained the backstory/importance of Mithril...by Eru we're in for a REALLY rough ride, guys, if this is true.
I'm glad you're going to continue to cover Rings of Power. I'm disappointed in the series, but it's something I've got to watch (all my gaming friends are watching it). It is enjoyable and helpful to hear your episode by episode review. Thank you!! 🙂
Try the playlist made by SirBookSage and start from the top. Then the detailed lovely videos by AngryMexa
Suggested topic, how did the Valar get their names? Were they named by Eru, did they choose them?
By the elves mostly
I would love to hear you thoughts about the LOTR community! And I also look forward to your future reviews!
The sea is always right!

I'll call it now how the showrunners will justify Melkor and Ungoliant being Tom Bombadil and Goldberry. Morgoth was cast out of Arda entirely at the end of the First Age according to the actual lore, and we do not know certainly what eventually became of Ungoliant after she got whipped by the balrogs.
They will change it so that both Morgoth and Ungoliant were cast out of Arda, and they will tell that they somehow found the Flame Imperishable and used it to recreate themselves back into the world, this time as benign beings because they were really, really, really sorry about all the bad and naughty stuff that they did. And Eru forgave them and let them live on as Tom and Goldberry. That, or then Morgoth and Ungoliant are simply disguising themselves as Tom and Goldberry, because of course we can't have delightfully silly characters that everyone loves and that do not have a thread of evil in them. Every bad guy must be half good and every good guy must be half bad.
This is just crap I pulled out of my own arse, but knowing how obsessed modern writers are with blurring the line between good and evil whatever the circumstances, I unfortunately wouldn't be surprised at all if it was something along those lines that we will have to endure. There is a place for moral ambiguity in stories and definitely in epic fantasy, but to turn EVERYTHING into morally ambiguous mess is just unbearable and uncalled for, and I honestly don't understand where the hell bent desire to do so stems from. I guess they think that it makes them appear deep and intelligent.
Hey was just sitting here thinking and wondering why in the real lore were the elves okay with making other rings with annatar? The ones that ended up going to the men and dwarves. Celebrimbor made the other 3 elven after those and the lesser rings. From what Ik the 3 elven rings helped sustain elven realms and notify them of annatar’s treachery, but was their goal just to make rings to sustain their realms and the rings that went to men, dwarves and the lesser rings just trials until they finally got the 3 elven rings untouched by annatar? Like what was the elves purpose for wanting to make them and what did they think they were going to be used for and where did they think the rings would end up?
I can’t wait for season 2. I just want to see more of Middle-Earth (even if it’s just the beautiful landscape and not necessarily great or canon characters, lol) 😅🙏🏽
