Very good for the environment if you have to buy all new accessories, even if the old ones still work perfectly. What's particularly annoying is that this isn't a hardware issue, it's just a software restriction to boost sales.
Basically, it's not worth upgrading if you don't use it professionally.
why make it thinner? it was already thin. they should have just made the battery larger

Are you sure about the 2nd Generation Apple Pencil support? Their website suggests otherwise: just the Pencil Pro and USB-C ones.
Would love to use that new Pencil, but having to upgrade both my iPadPro and MK, not for awhile.
Apple needs to reign in their product offerings. They have so many versions and generations of their devices it’s dizzying!

Man my M1 Max 16” Macbook Pro is still a beast, hard to justify upgrading from that. These prices are ludicrous.
Amazing features that I don't need. Great! I'm happy for those who would use them. For me, I need the flexibility of a macbook in a iPad format. So until then, I'll keep my 2018 iPad.
Buying! I think though that buying Apple’s internal storage is not the best use of my money. Any suggestions for external storage that is stylish yet is fast, reliable and reputable brand!?

My question is what is going to happen with the “old” Magic Keyboard and pencil we have? Are we able to swap them to the new ones for a reduced price or are we just bin them? I hope there will be a recycle option as Apple previously was talking about Carbon footprint and how important it is for them…
I think its super clear their iPad line is basically becoming a "Touchscreen Macbook" for a different crowd (mainly artists & content creators) I'm not mad at that idea at all. I may not personally use them, but I think its a great option for some people.

I agree with you and in this form factor I really think final cut is better than it is on the Mac personally. The one thing I wish they would do though is make the multitasking on iOS iPadOS and macOS more like windows where you can just snap two windows easily and you ain’t gotta really think about it now granted I was windows user for a long time so maybe that’s why it’s easier for me, but I’ve had the Mac for about two years now, and it’s good except for the Janky Multitasking.
I'm super jealous of the tandem OLED display. Can we get these displays in the Macbook Pro and Mac studio display? Actually, could we just put these displays in everything, including my TV?
What’s the screen like? Is it good on the eyes? I haven’t heard a SINGLE UA-camr talk about if it has DC Dimming or PWM flickering ect

I have a 4th generation iPad Pro 12.9 from 2020 and I’ll admit the 13 inch iPad Pro definitely caught my eye with the powerful chip and better camera!

I am not getting anything until a NEW iPad Mini is released.. that is what I have been waiting for! all the others are too big to bring out with me.. I need a super duper iPad mini now!
I need y’alls opinion on this. Im not sure if I should get the ipad air 5th gen or this new one. I need one for work, never had one. Should I spend the extra 100 dollars for double storage, new chip, and pencil hover? My job does require drawing on plans, nothing fancy but at the same time, I might use it to scribble on my own but I’m not sure if the hover feature is worth it.
If indeed the old pencils aren't compatible anymore, definitely for work get the old one and you might even land a deal on a used Apple Pencil 2 some day. $100 seems worth it but it could also be cumulative with a lot of other corners to cut, making the savings much more substantial.
The Apple Pencil pro is compatible with the new models, so if you’re going to get a 5th gen air you can probably get some really great deals on them. For longevity, you could look into the new air but for a 100 bucks I’d say the new. 5th gen’s have been around for about 2 years already

Am I the only one who has noticed that the 2nd Gen Pencil doesn't appear to work with the new iPad Pro so if you are upgrading from last year's iPad pro, you will need to drop another $129 for a new pencil too

And there's no justifiable reason as to why it doesn't, yeah it doesn't have the new features but the weir usb-c pencil works with it. ANY of them should work with any ipad to be honest.
I wonder if moving the camera required them to move the magnets and charging coil too far for the 2nd gen to work.

you can’t compare the utility of the MacBook to an iPad. if you ask me, get the new MacBook Pro

I maxed mine out and bought it right after the event, but I didn’t know what I was really getting. I dropped my other pro last month so I really didn’t have a choice. Great the screens are so bright. Now I’m gonna get burning on my retinas.😂 then you’ll have to buy the first generation of iEye 😂

Yahoo! I’m using a 12.9 in 2nd gen Pro. The 13” Air will be a perfect replacement for it. I don’t need the power of the new Pros, though the screen does sound gorgeous.

The thin iPad Pro is wildly impressing.
I have what's not even the thinnest iPod Nano, and it is a little over the edge of what's ergonomically comfortable and reliable for holding and general use.
I expect it's a different story with the iPad because its size is much greater than the Nano. It should be easy to grip it nicely. Although, from what I understand, many people simply deploy iPads like laptops anymore, which is distasteful for me, but it makes grip ergonomics an effective nonissue.
Why can't they just let people run OSX if they have a mouse and keyboard?
If it still can’t run pro apps (e.g. Adobe’s full versions) and hasn’t got pro color management, I’m afraid I don’t consider it being Pro. And then M2 or M4 doesn’t matter… but possibly for games and 3D animation that I’m not into. Let’s see what the next PadOS brings along.
Also, for those who do work for print, P3 isn’t enough, but like >98% coverage of AdobeRGB is a must, and is provided by the competition’s best OLED pad displays since many years ago.

I do not use logic or that other app at all, and do not need to.
You don’t. If your current iPad works well for you in all the ways you currently use it then just save the money. That’s the big plus side to how good these iPads are after M1, you will rarely need to upgrade
Then it’s not marketed towards you, this is for if you are looking for an upgrade. For example if your old iPad is outdated or not compatible with current software you need to use.

It’s already becoming ridiculous, the amount of power to run iphone apps and a one or two subscription apps exclusive from Apple. I want to install zbrush on it… but Apple needs to sell macbook too, right?

Apple Pencil pro is compatible with the new Air and Pro… 5th gen you’re still looking at the 2nd gen or USB-C (per apple’s website)

Is the term “Pro” marketing or is it the intended use? For those who would pay upwards over $2,000 for a Pro, some would also have internet service beyond 1Gbps. I would think someone with 5 or even 10Gbps service is asking themselves…and Apple, “Where’s WiFi7?”

It's you - with the M chips there is not much difference between air and pro unless you are doing Final Cut Pro. You can get a 13 inch air. Pros wanted 14 inches. I am disappointed also in the hefty price increases for the nano glass version - got to get a 1TB drive to unlock right to purchase at that spec.

But aren't improvements to FCP and other creativity apps the point of a pro device over the air, etc?
