Great video but not sure I have the confidence to try it. My Ford KA Luxury 2007 just keeps misfiring and now the engine management light is showing. Without a diagnostic check I could end up replacing spark plugs, coil packs, HT leads for nothing. I've heard nightmares about this issue...water ingress, ECU unit...the list is endless. If the ECU unit is faulty then I would scrap the car as too expensive to replace.
Be confident! One of the worst things people can do is overthink or google symptoms sometimes. Think logically, and normally diagnostics arnt that complicated in some cases, in your misfire, first thing to think of would be the spark plugs if you havent had them done in a while, remove them look on the porcelin for cracks burns etc, look at the ends for a correct gap between the electrode or any damage, fit new ones while you have them out and dont overtighten them. May just be a simple case of spark plugs needed - if your eml lights on you will need to get it reset to go back out now though You can alternatively (if you have the tools) quite easily read the fault code and see what it says , then use certain tools and techniques to check for yourself why its misfiring.... but thats an essay in itself (Its also not normally water ingress in the ecu its oil gets into it from a faulty oil pressure switch which lets oil down the wire loom into ecu but its rare) Dont be afraid to tinker on your own car, but if you really are then just take it to someone who you trust 👍 sorry for the long reply aha
@@ALLTHINGSJIM Thanks a lot mate...much appreciated. I'm going to purchase a diagnostic tool first. What do you think of Foxwell NT200 car diag tool? Also I can see what looks like perishing on top side of the coil pack although I don't see any sparks jumping from the perished area. The HT leads are very tight to pull away from the spark plugs. I did try twisting first then pulling but I suffer with fibromyalgia and don't have much strength. Just a bit worried about damaging the leads.
Thnx bro! I changed the sprak plugs today. Mine had a 16mm spark plug socket.
Perfect video, gave me all the info I needed and great photos which helped a lot. Thank you.
Is it a 10mm socket for the spark plugs or 16mm?
Ooh and good job! Specially the tool section but it was hard finding the video as I just searched ford ka and not found much! 🙊🙊
Oooh learning to do my first spark plug change, hopefully I ordered the right tools 😅😅
Exactly what I needed! Thank you!
Your most welcome! Thanks for watching and commenting
How often do we have to change spark plugs in those engines (1.2 in Ford Ka or Fiat Grande Punto)??
kissiel021 Hi! The ford maintenance schedule says to do them every 25k (25,000) miles hope that helps 👍 that should be roughly 2 years in time
Well, my mother's just done 66k km on first ones :D Time to change it out. Thanks!
Tnx ,very clear what to do 👍
