Austin McGeough - Chased by Bees? Or a Coverup?

- The case of Austin McGrough is a strange one. According to the police, he was chased by bees when he met his demise. However, many people find that hard to believe.
Thanks again to my viewers for getting me up to 20k! You're the best!

Maybe it was his friends trying to find him in the woods. However, because of his intoxication he mistook it for people chasing him.
@@Glol91ABC maybe they took some illegal drugs and were afraid to come out?

The way the family is suing random people, who could not credibly be suspected of being part of some police conspiracy tells me that the police are right: the family just does not want to hear the truth and is lashing out.
I agree. I'm no fan of cops, at all, but the mom in this case is just being completely unreasonable. Sounds like he simply inherited whatever psychosis is clearly effecting her judgment, that would explain a lot.
Exactly
Just because the mom is going crazy with lawsuits doesn’t mean that we should ignore the fact that the police got a shitload of things wrong in this case.
I don't think you understand that area of Kentucky. That town is tiny. I mean tiny. That town is rather anti Army as well. They are not as welcoming as Hopkisville to the north and Clarksville south. Anyone military at that party would have been crashing it. Only invited most likely buy a guest. Most likely a local girl dating one of the soldiers. There would have been high tensions there the whole time any military were present. If this guy had kissed or hit on anyones girl friend or even X girlfriend this was a revenge homicide. The connection comes in the kids being involved were the kids of the Sharif, a Deputy, a county courthouse employee, a city works employee, on the football team, basketball team and they could not have the season ruined by this or anything like that. It is a very very real thing in that area. When someone there ask you who you are. They don't want your first or last name. You answer with who your mom and grandma on moms side of the family are. The reputation of your Mom, Grandma and relation to them let people size you up as "Good Folk" or "Shit Bag". The reputation of your relatives sets how you will be treated. If your family are not known then you automatically fall under "Untrustworthy Shit Bag" until your actions prove otherwise over time.
That is actually a pretty good point
I get that the family are distressed but I really think suing the party owner and her parents is ridiculous, especially with the reason of "she should've kept a closer eye on them". Like okay you try babysitting a horde of drunk kids while also being drunk. Your son is not other people's responsibility, intoxicated or not
Thing with grief is the person our questions and emotions are supposed to be directed towards is usually the person we're grieving. It's a fairly natural response to redirect it all and blame other people, especially in the early phase of processing sudden unnatural deaths. There's no room for logic or rational thinking and decision making when we're so emotionally charged.
@savvy Wilson oh I completely agree with that one, but a little bit of compassion and understanding when you're dealt that kind of hand can prevent further escalation of an already crappy ordeal from both parties.
If this guy wasn't 21yrs old, and by all means legally responsible for himself, I can understand how they'd have a chance at winning the lawsuit, like if their kid was under the age of 15...beyond that is murky waters.
But yeah, I'm not trying to say the parents are right to sue anyone in this situation, just that it's easy to forget what's driving their decisions and what not ☺️
@savvy Wilson sorry for your loss, and thank you sharing from your point of view too. I've got the perspective of the daughter who nearly died, and my parents and siblings faces when I woke up will be with me forever and is hard to break down into words, and I've got to perspective of a parent who didn't have answers when my son passed. They're the same but different lol I see your point now though, the demand for dollar compensation where the law sees no crime is spite disguised as a 'fighr for justice' for a dumb decision.
Enjoyable discussion, thank you
What in the heck are you talking about? CT is 85 percent middle/lower class income and not homeowner's due to extremely high real estate prices. Ct, in fact, is #1 in exodus states. There isn't welfare here; hardly any. CT blows, & caters to the very small amount of high income families. Most of those are in Greenwich, CT- right next door to NYC.
They can always counter sue for damages?
As a recovering drug addict I can tell you I've spent several nights protecting friends from invisible threats. Friends that were convinced someone was in their house or in the backyard or that their neighbors were trying to kill them. That's what this story reminds me of.
I’m recovering too. I don’t miss the invisible threats at all. There is nothing more terrifying than drug induced psychosis. Everything seems so real. , I still sometimes have “paranoid thoughts”. It’s like an everlasting tremor …or just the aftershock of my drug use.
I’m glad you’re in recovery, friend. Keep up the good work!

Drug induced paranoia is the most terrifying experience I've ever had and I'm glad that I had it. I don't know that I ever would have been willing to quit if I hadn't had such a traumatizing experience. I wish it could have been for any other reason but at least I'm clean because of it.
Drig Induced madness is the worst simply terrifying but I still hear and see things 10 yrs later and know they're real this time 😂 I refused to walk on the pavements by bushes and alleyways thinking things were gna drag me in, and tbe heightened fear forget that, am OK as I am
Yep sounds like drug induced psychosis
"Austin's mother sued the 18yo driver who had always fully cooperated with the police, as well as the host of the party he attended, suggesting she failed to keep an eye on what was going on in their home and should have done more to find Austin after he wandered off the property."
Yeah, no. That's not how it works. My sincere condolences, but Austin was a grown man (not to mention, partying with a bunch of underage kids). And trying to blame a tragic accident on a bunch of innocent people just simply isn't a good look. If we're going to be grasping at straws while throwing accusations around, perhaps you should have raised your son to be more responsible when he partied. Those types of blind accusations probably don't feel too great, do they?
He was 21 at an 18 yr old (legally an adult) teenager's house party. There's nothing wrong with that. Her parents knew she was having the party in their home, so yes, her parents, the homeowners do legally have a responsibility for what happens in their home. www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/cheatham/2017/07/24/family-soldier-killed-dark-highway-demands-answers/490530001/
Exactly he was fully grown he didn’t and shouldn’t have needed to be babysat.. he was a freakin solider too at that! I would think he could and should have been able to handle himself.. I feel awful for the family too of course, but they really shouldn’t be blaming the 2 ppl that fully cooperated and Prol feel just terrible about the whole thing.. I’d be traumatized for LIFE knowing I ran over someone even if it wasn’t my fault can you just imagine someone jumping out in front of your car on the highway at freakin night time?! And being only an 18yr old girl all alone?! SHEESH I’d lose it! And then go get blamed and sued by the guys mother? Ugh..I dunno man, I’d be depressed & in a friggin hospital! It just would make it all the more traumatizing and blaming someone over an accident that wasn’t their fault is just not right.. But God bless all involved.. sry strange case how it all went down I agree.

If this was my son , I would have another toxicology test done. But it really sounds like a drug induced paranoia/panic attack. No bees or wasps are stinging anyone at night. The deep woods are scary for city kids in the dark. He ran out in the road & was hit, the second & third cars thought he was road kill. I live in the woods , I have had people show up at my door screaming & lost banging on my door. City kids who were broke down or out of gas & afraid of bears & wolves in a panic. When I tell them there are no bears or wolves here they settle right down .
Lol OMG wth are you saying???!! I live in CT-we DO HAVE BEARS (BLACK BEARS) MOOSE, and other large predators. We have bobcats as well. I literally ran into a bear 3 years ago. Shit my pants.

I think the police's version is probably that he hallucinated the bees. Just from his speach on the 911 calls, he clearly sounds confused, more than scared
I really can't see any merit in that since Percocet doesn't make you hallucinate. Certainly not in the dosage the toxicologist said was in his system. It never ceases to amaze me how people with no experience using particular drugs seem to think every drug is like LSD or something.
Ahh yes. The grown man who was, in the words of his mother, “a highly trained military specialist” should definitely have been chaperoned by the owners of the home which the party was held. She feels that her sons memory has been tarnished because he drank and consumed narcotics. Seems to me I would be more upset to have her way of thinking applied to my death if I were her son
Yeah, I have no sympathy for her after this. None.
Chaperoned home by children no less
Honestly though, has a PI hired by a family to back check the police ever come back and said, "Actually the police were right."?
@Lisa exactly. Just stringing along grieving families with the false hope of a different outcome.
@Babylonian Cowboy yeah. A new witness here, an alternate theory there, we just need one more piece of evidence to blow the lid off this statewide cover up...Anyway, here's your invoice 🤦♂️
Right?!
They probably do lol not a good marketing strategy to give those ones air time though
Yes. Most of the time that's precisely what happens
I hate to say it.. but it sounds like either he was intoxicated and under the influence or having some sort of psychosis breakdown.. I understand the family being upset, but seems like they are barking up the wrong tree and wanting to place blame anywhere they possibly can.
How do opiates cause that?
I actually feel sorry for the people that hit this moron. This attitude in some young people that they should be able to do whatever they want & live to tell the tale, comes from parents like these that think it can't possibly be what it obviously is!!! At least he didn't walk into a freezer or fall asleep in a dumpster!!! This is another case of mystery created where there is no mystery!!!!! If anything, the parents should be charged with neglect of duty!!!

His mom needs to see a therapist, I think. Sometimes holding on to hope like that can really mess a person up and give feelings of still having the person there.
What she needs to do is sue the owner of the flower shop he broke into, than sue any bee keepers in the area for producing scary bee’s!! Oh and she needs to sue the city for paving the roads where he got run-over!! Then she should sue her sons father for knocking her up in the first place!
I agree, she isn't processing her grief in a healthy way. She needs help.
For sure, she can't admit it was an accident and she wants something to blame it on other than her son drank too much.
Its sad
It’s sad, but only Austin is to blame for placing himself in this situation

@@anti-ethniccleansing465 can you cite a story where you go outside and touch grass because you seem to be obsessed with this case judging by the amount of comments you made here
He had three times the legal limit blood alcohol limit. He was severely intoxicated and any level of opiates would affect him. He was clearly not acting rationally. Getting into a fight while drunk at a party is also possible, overall this is a really tragic story.
My cousin took Vicodin for her back. Went to a wedding one night and and got drunk. She came home “freaking out” according to my aunt and they had to call the cops. Don’t mix substances kids or you’re gonna have a bad time
Four times...and if you've ever had your BAC checked you would know that even the legal limjt is drunk, not just buzzed.
I did a training thing for CHP once where as a volunteer I got drunk in a high school gym with a bunch of others so they could practice field sobriety tests and brethaltzers. I was surprised how drunk I felt at .08 BAC. Four times that at the time of death meant he was absolutely sloshed.

Occam’s razor - he was high and extremely intoxicated and ended up running on to the road where, strangely enough, there happened to be traffic, and his was hit, thrice. Unfortunate, but nothing suspicious evident. His mother is in complete denial. Why the hell are there so many people so quick to bring up conspiracy theories where there is no basis for them? So bloody tired of the lack of critical thinking on display.
Good video though, thank you.
Your comment is a conspiracy.
It’s thats easy to make a conspiracy. All the signs are there and it is fairly easy to close the book from that but most folks often jump down rabbit holes that are made from small passing theories. Most of them hold no water tho
Agreed 100%. We live in a society that not only refuses to apply Occam's razor, but denies its existence.
@@scottpeltier3977 I don't think you know what a conspiracy is.
But why would the police get so fucking much wrong??

He was definitely having some sort of nervous breakdown, possibly psychosis. The idea that this is a cover-up is ridiculous. He was an E-4, not Edward Snowden.
And the idea that "he was in the army, so he couldn't have had a psychological break from reality" is so ridiculous I'm not even going to touch it.
I get that the family wants "answers", but sometime there is no answer. Just because the police don't know what your son was thinking while he was in a psychotic state of mind, doesn't mean they're trying to cover anything up.
It seems like he was suffering from psychosis brought on by something at the party.

Maybe the two guys were trying to help him cause he was out of it. But its easy to see a cover up cause it happens so often
That's an awful lot of people in on a cover up. I get police have bad reputations lately but that kind of cover up for something like this just doesn't seem plausible

There is a Canadian case that you might find very interesting and which is not well known. It’s the case of Holly Barlett a blind woman from Halifax , Nova Scotia. The authorities wrote her death off as an accident but even the CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind) say it wasn’t investigated adequately due to discrimination.

Very interesting and heartbreaking case no doubt! Hopefully more info will be brought forth, thank you for sharing this story maybe it will help the family get answers!
Another extremely interesting mystery. You have an awesome channel, young man! Instead of covering the same stories everyone else covers, you research and investigate truly interesting stories that most people haven’t heard of. Keep up the GREAT work! Though Austin was drunk, his behavior is suspiciously bizarre. I’ve been drunk myself, though not for a long time, and I don’t remember ever acting like this. My heart goes out to his parents and all his loved ones. His Mom holding his picture close to her face like that was heartbreaking.
No, I never had hallucinations while drunk either. I was very prone to paranoia on mary jane though
There's nothing to this. It's rare, but I totally agree with the police. A young GI gets absolutely hammered at a party and had some sort of breakdown or psychosis triggered by his condition and youth, vandalized a place (not at all like someone running from anyone chasing them-- nothing says stealth like knocking over huge shelves of jelly jars), continues being absolutely hammered and uses the incredibly bad judgment often accompanying such a state and runs into the road. He is hit, by accident once. There is no reason to believe that wasn't the case for the second hit. There's little evidence to support a third hit and even if there was what was the charge? Being the 3rd car to hit the drunk in the road. It could have been a relative of the damn president but it doesn't make it a criminal act. MAYBE there were 2 guys with him but there was nothing necessarily villainous by the comments that may or may not have been heard. If they were even there they were probably just 2 equally hammered GIs trying to get their friend to stop acting crazy. They may have ran away after the accident so as not to jeopardize their positions. I get so frustrated by these stories made up by grieving family members. Nothing in this story says conspiracy. It's hard to admit that your hotdog soldier son would do something so dumb, but come on, they do it all the time but they usually survive their debauchery. So very sorry mom, but I think you just need to accept it and move on.
Yeah, totally. The family putting the blame on those other people really annoys me. Even when they eventually win the suit (and I really hope that the driver and the party host will win), their lives will forever be ruined because of this incident. What control do you have over who jumps in front of your car? Or over who gets drunk in your party? None. I find it pointless to further traumatize these people :(
Occam’s Razor for sure! It’s sad but he just got too messed up and died, nothing more to it.
No actually mother tracked down 3rd driver a relative of a an law enforcement of county he spoke to her apologized. Your theory is debunked. You don't have full story. Family has proof he was never near nursery. Cell tower pings, actual autopsy results of no drug use. Evidence was planted in nursery. You don't have the story from a you tube video.
Plus he was no hotdogs soldier as you say. He was a good kid. Funny, sweet and made sure everybody felt like they had a friend. Church involved, was about to be engaged and wanted to serve his country. So show some respect when you think of my nephew. Instead of the meth dealer that ran him over.
I'm really glad that the light flickering effect that you used in your older videos are gone in this one. I often watch these vids at night to fall asleep to and the flickering bothers my eyes as I'm sensitive to things like that.
You always find such interesting cases and your voice is so calming!
I think the family needs to come to terms with this being a pointless drunken accident.
Twice in my life someone I know has died stupidly while drunk, and there are always questions that make no sense. One guy I know fell from a scaffolding and died. What the hell was he doing up there? Did he jump? Was someone else there with him? Was he pushed? It's very difficult to accept that a life can end so abruptly just because they were drunk and decided to play ninja at a construction site.
The other friend drowned in an artificial lake in the middle of the city. How? Why did no one see her? She could swim. Well, it was dark. She was drunk. The water was cold. It's more difficult than people believe to swim in tight jeans and heavy boots. It absolutely sucks, but drunk people out alone are extremely vulnerable to accidents.
It doesnt even have to be an accident, Im left with thousand questions about our (mine & husbands) best friends death, he died of a heart attack at his home, alone. He was only 43, we didnt expect this at all. The weird rumors doesnt help, he was pretty popular guy and the mill has been churning ever since. My condolences on your friends, it really sucks to lose them that way and to be left with more questions than answers. It just.. sucks. All the best :)
I was high on opiates and alcohol a loooooong time ago, and I went into a strange waking fugue state where I thought I was some place else, with people that weren't there. I began to panic and started shouting, looking for missing friends, and wandering through the streets. It was bizarre, and I have no idea how or why it happened.

Huge fan of your videos! With this one, for me personally I feel like the truth lies somewhere in the middle. The kid was blasted out of his mind, it seems like him running in the woods at night, saying he was being chased could have been a product of his intoxication. Though the third driver not being mentioned initially and having ties to police definitely feels like a cover up though.

Thank you for this content
What a bizarre story. It's hard to come to any conclusions on this brief synopsis. Thanks for your channel, looking forward to an update on this one. Wow. Has anyone commented on your expressive hands? I find them memorising. I like your style. Best wishes.
Wow I remember this so vaguely... I'm from New England it was on the news but... haven't heard of since. Amazing that you found a case to present that literally noone else has covered... My hats off to you my guy💪 For an original channel with original content. 👏🏻
Dude your rising up at a real steady pace. Belated congrats on 20k
Keep it up brother. I love that you focus on lesser known cases.
Found my new favorite UA-camr. Keep up the great content 👍👍
Getting hit by 3 cars is pretty freaking intense. Also why wasn’t the 3rd driver (who was heavily affiliated with law enforcement) that they did find not get charged with a hit and run?
My favourite UA-cam channel!! Getting so many new subscribers lately you deserve it! Good job man 🖤🖤
hey, you're so dreamy. thanks for making such high quality vids.
Please cover the case of Punky Gustafson. This horrible case happened in my city a while back.
I just found your station today, 8/18/21. And I love the things that you talk about. He explain everything really good and the creepy side of it is what I love about it or the weird side of it. Thank you for being on UA-cam and I did subscribe to you today.

This channel doubled since I saw it not too long ago. *Keep up the great videos!*
Been binging your videos. Happy I stumbled on your channel! You are more detailed with your videos than some others. Good job!
I hope they find out exactly what happened eventually. I feel bad for the family, especially the mother. They'll probably never know for sure. I'm not familiar with that area in Tennessee. However I live in a small town in neighboring Kentucky and I can tell you that the "good old boy" network is alive and well. I grew up with people who were seemingly untouchable because of what their last name is or because of who they were connected to. Beware your surroundings people, especially when they aren't your own
I remember my brother once got served and being sued for being in an accident where a woman was injured as a passenger and her cousin drove into a group of cars at a stop light. There were 3 cars stopped at the light lined up on the same lane. My brother was the middle car. The woman’s cousin slammed into the back car and it caused a chain reaction where the other cars hit the other cars in front of them. She sued her cousin and everyone that was hit by their car. The lawsuit was so ridiculous it was blaming everyone even the 3 drivers ahead of them that got hit. It stated that the drivers that got hit should have paid attention and had the ability to move out of the way but that they didn’t. Some people are just insane.
Percocet does not make you hallucinate, he probably took some bath salts, or possibly got tricked into taking mushrooms or acid.
LOVE your content! Always entertaining! 👏👏👏
I found your channel today and cant stop watching ! Keep it up !
I just found you (and subscribed!) and in your last video you said you were at 12k. Now you're at 23.8k a week later. Your channel is absolutely taking off! I have a feeling it's going to keep snowballing quickly. Found you through the algorithm by the way.
Deja vu! I was just flipping through subscriptions hoping dire trip would have a new video out! Thank you!
One of my new favorite channels! Keep up the good work! You honestly should consider a patreon to combat the demonetization, I'm sure a few of us would sub.
I’m so excited for this !! You are my new favorite true crime channel.
I used to live in Clarksville many, many years ago. The local authorities are always quick to assume that the soldiers are to blame for various crimes in the area but when a crime is committed against any of the soldiers they're very slow to action. Or at least that's the way it was back when I lived there. It's sad and disgusting.
Whoa! Up to 20,000+ subs!? Congrats, my dude! Keep up the awesome work!
