Technically you are correct, police policing police, which really is just a gross conflict of interest. However, police misconduct allegations are 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘥 to be investigated by the department's Internal Affairs division, a way of limiting their self-governance, basically to reign it all in. I mean, yeah, I see no flaws with this😶.

    • @doclewis8927
      @doclewis8927 2 роки тому +3

Yeah. I do believe it's time to have "civilian oversight boards/committees and investigators" for police misconduct and criminal allegations. It's the same with lawyers and judges. They "oversee and investigate" the conduct themselves and rarely have cause to disbar each other. Law enforcement and the justice system should have a little more "civilian involvement" when it comes to investigating themselves. For that, we need new laws. For new laws, we need legislators who would make such laws. I don't see any "good ol' boys" or "old farts" making these types of laws. Hell, they're happy to just say "it's just a few bad apples" without realizing that that means those bad apples ROT ALL of the other apples IF left in place.

I still remember a court case so vividly that turned into a media circus in Hungary more than 20 years ago when an underage girl reported four policemen for gang r*ping her and people didn't believe her and just accused her of doing sexual favours because she wanted to. It was really sickening to see how the public was treating her. Also when I moved to Australia I met a girl who got into trouble for speeding with her female friend and did sexual favours for the cops to avoid the $2000 fines. Police are corrupt wherever you live. Not to mention how physically violent they can be. I live near a hospital where a mentally ill patient decided to leave without permission and cops were called who caught him around the corner from the hospital and hit him purposely with the police car knocking him to the ground then kicked his head so hard he ended up in a coma. This was all recorded by civilians and nobody was punished. News was also quiet about it. I will never have respect for the police and they should never be trusted.

I do not trust the police. My best friend smartmouthed a cop once. Was cuffed. Put in the divisional van. Digitally R'd. The they left the door open and accelerated off. She hit the ground face first and as cuffed broke her jaw, orbital bone and knocked out most of her front teeth. Of course, the police investigated themselves and found no fault. All because she drunkenly disrespected a pack of sadistic bullies. This case reminds me of that.

Also I remember the one time in my life I had to drive in the back of a cop car... Terrifying for several reasons, but JFC I have never been more disgusted with the state of someone's driving in my life... The dude straight up drove like the mother from PONYO. Absolute insanity all over the road over 100 MPH for NO reason, no blinker as he cuts and weaves in between people, no warning and no reason, I've been completely compliant w the dude, not aggressive, so he just drives like that regardless... Like you know damn well if anyone else drove like that you'd arrest the crap outta them so wtf...

    PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS CASE
The death of Christopher Drew Flores (he was a personal friend. He was 19, almost 20, when he received "bad" drugs from someone at a club he promoted at, and was kicked out to walk I'm the rain, completely messed up for hours, until our friend decided to drive him home, but when they were close, he became erratic, fleeing the car and being struck by a pickup truck and dying instantly)
I've heard that the club, (the hanger 13/Afterburn in New Orleans, has re opened, and suffered minor if any responsibility for their part in it but I can't be sure

I've been in jail a few times and the women in there go absolutely nuts over semi decent looking guards. It is actually really sad. They absolutely live for the few moments a day they get to flirt with them since there is NOTHING else to do in there and it gets hella lonely.

I love all of the armchair quarterbacks in the comment section. It is obvious very few people commenting here have much experience when it comes to inmates. I was a inmate myself. I was a trustee in the county jail. I cannot even begin to tell you how many different times I saw women inmates slip out of their restrains. Mostly because they complain that the handcuffs or leg restraints are too tight and hurting them and officers do not want to get a brutality charge so they typically put them on loosely. I am not saying that these officers are innocent or anything like that. I’m simply saying that it is not uncommon or unheard of for inmates, especially female, inmates, to escape their restraints

Hello. I’m not saying the police didn’t do anything to her or not. But I find it rather strange that while in the hospital, while she is getting sexually assaulted, she didn’t scream or anything. Surely there were nurses, doctors or some sort of staff within ear shot. And before anyone says you don’t know what you’d do in a situation like that, yes I do. I was almost raped when I was a young teenager (14). And the reason why it didn’t happen all the way was because I screamed, hit, kicked and fought back as if my life depended on it. And it did! So why didn’t this girl do something? Say something? Also inmates are a big liability. I’m not so sure they “threw” her out of the vehicle. It’s not like she was some squeaky clean, never done anything wrong girl. She had a record. She had committed crimes. She, like most criminals, didn’t want to pay the consequences. I feel bad she paid the ultimate price for her crime(s). But also, I’m not so sure cops did what all she claimed they did. Some people have drama in their lives and it is ever present all the time. She, in my opinion was one of those type of people. It’s a very sad story and I hope her mother and family can find peace. May she RIP.

That’s one of the scariest aspects with going to prison. Your health and well-being are forfeit. I grew up with guy who was born diabetic, and his diabetes has to be monitored very strictly. It didn’t take much for his blood sugar to spike or drop suddenly, which could lead to some sort of out burst which got him in trouble. Corporal Punishment was still used with parental permission and he was subjected to it often in grade school (we graduated class of ‘99 for reference). He later spent time in prison which did nothing but make his diabetes worse, he’s out now and has been for a long time, and finally has a routine down with his health, but he has to be careful traveling or being stopped by cops…..he has to use a scale for his meals….every meal. My heart breaks for her family and all the other people going through such difficulties.

It was a botched escape for certain. She had made a run for it in the past also. Drug addicts are great at making excuses for everything as well. She wanted out asap to get back to her drugs and her mommy who also made excuses for her. Her luck ran out when she tried to run out. Again.
And she is certainly no innocent angel, look at her history of crimes and drug use. That's a horrible way to die but let's face it, if she was not a repeat offender and drug addict, she never would have been in that situation where she felt the need to make a run for it. She was just going to add more charges.

Was she considered suicidal? She would have been stripped and placed in solitary with only a blanket and a bam-bam to eliminate items that could be used for self harm, like a tearable blanket or a cell mate's pencil. An escape attempt and withdrawal would have warranted solitary with a 24/7 camera, but not the bam-bam and blanket.
There is no way that she could have gotten out of the belly chain no matter the amount of shower gel. There is no way that the child lock could have been accidentally disengaged. There is no way officers, especially when transporting an inmate with a history of assault and escape attempts, would have allowed her to not be fully restrained while riding behind them. If any one of these oopsies had occurred, those officers would have under serious review, even if they were not indicated in any of her allegations of assault or misconduct. If anything, they would have been extra careful during the transport so that they wouldn't be implicated.
    This stinks. Majorly.

I just read her autopsy - the Meckel’s diverticulum probably was not the cause of her abdominal pain. She had several ovarian cysts, which ~should not~ have caused pain, but can on occasion.
Abdominal pain is a common complaint for someone seeking drugs. I’m not saying this was the case, just FYI.
