There’s something that a lot of people don’t talk about when comparing this to the other 33/35mm Fuji lenses and that is the significantly smaller diameter makes it much less intimidating to subjects (one often ends up with more natural looking people photos with compact or fixed lens cameras for this reason). It also makes it more discrete for street photography if that’s your jam
Amazing quality, weather sealed, weights nothing, fits in every pocket, fairly cheap and people behave more relaxed around it because your gear doesn't look intimidating, which grants you more candit shots. It's perfect.
Probably my favorite lens too. I sold it some years ago thinking I'd be fine with the XF23mm f2 and XF50mm f2 combo, but for walking around just *nothing* beats the XF35mm f2, so I re-bought it. And just yesterday I managed I didn't grip my X-Pro3 properely when talking it out of the back and it went tumbling into the asphalt. It hit the lens and the side of the camera. Amazingly, while the SD card door was open, it still worked fine, but the lens got a dent in it's side (but *not* the front-element), so I was able to continue taking photos. That high quality metal comes in handy! I haven't checked if it's decentered or anything, but I've still been able to take good photos with it. However, I'll probably get a new one, and *permanently* have that little plastic sun hood on, because that would probably have saved it. Thanks for making the video tho! PS: For travel photography *specifically*, the XF 16mm f2.8 can be a good companion if you want to capture wider stuff for when the 35 is too tight. It's the same size, same fast autofocus, same rich color and tonality. Highly recommended!
Just got this lens yesterday, it's really great. I love the compactness, there's always room to take it with you. I as well use it with my Raynox DCR-0250 Macro adapter (43mm like the lens hood), which gives me macro capabilities, the pictures seem even sharper with the adapter.
I have that lens which I use on my X-T3 and i agree it's a great little lens for street photography. I have bought and sold a few lenses over the past few years but that one is a keeper.
Love this lens. Enjoy it overall more than the 35mm 1.4. It isn’t just about image quality - which is fantastic- it’s the overall feel, responsiveness. Didn’t intent to get his lens but got this and am XF60 2.4 thrown in free with a like new X-T2. Both lenses turned out to be quite a surprise.
I have an X-E3 and an X-T30II, and I love both dearly. I own almost all of TTArtesan's lenses. I learned photography in the '70s (yes, I am an old fart 😂😂😂), so shooting manual lenses is a no-brainer for me. But when I want to have fun, I use the 27 TTArtisan in auto mode. It is so compact, and I love how it handles. I don't mind that it is not weatherproof because when it rains, I go to the nearest pub to get my inside wet 😂😂😂. The other TTArtesan that I carry for auto exposure is the relatively new AF 35mm 1.8; I do love it. BTW, my digital photography journey began six months ago; I still shoot films with one of my Yashicasmatic 124, although it is getting quite expensive. Great review; stay alert, stay alive, and stay safe. 🙏
Would you say the size difference to the TTArtisan pancake is significant enough to make a real difference on an X-S20? Not in a weight sense, it probably doesn't make a big difference but in terms of size and disreceteness in casual situations. I'm looking for a lens that I can take with me that doesn't make me look like "the photographer" at first sight, more like sth that you'd take with you when you're in the park with friends or at some other casual activity.
I have a xs10 with an 18-55 but this kit does not satisfy me in terms of image quality; not sharp enough, really too soft images. Do you think I can see the difference that I'm looking for by getting this lens? And what about sigma 35mm f 1.4 C when you compare these two?
enjoyed the video and i hate to be that guy but it's technically not a nifty fifty because it's not really a fast lens at all. f2 on apsc is f2.8 equivalent whereas a nifty fifty is generally considered any 50mm with f1.8 or lower. great lens and nice video regardless!
I dont agree :) I think the Fujinon 35mm F 1.4 R is much better. I m making a new UA-cam video about it now explaning why i think so. Anyway the f2 is an great lens. Great video :)
Had this two times but always went back to the original f1.4, just a more pleasant images overall for my taste. I find the f2 too contrasty and clinical, but it's still a great lens, love the size and the WR

Couldn't agree more!
I have the same combo, XPro3 and that lens, and I love it. Nice portraits, nice bokeh and fast and accurate auto focus.

Definitely a keeper!
I love this lens too, first one I bought when I pecked up A XT30II. Along with my 27mm TTArtisan its all I really need for everyday photo walks 👍

Agreed! I have the cheaper XC model and I love it too!

很有用的视频,谢谢!Thank you so much for your recommendation! This was really helpful!
You’re very welcome
I agree to everything you said. subscribed!
Thanks!
the 35f2 is an excellent value performance lens. if only fujifilm made the 23f2 on par with this
That would be nice
23 f2 is optically better than 35 f2
@@rakoksy sharpness at close distance is slighly off on the 23f2.
I almost traded my 35/f2 for a 23/f2 yesterday. I just couldn't do it and kept the 35.
do you prefer this lense above the sigma 56mm f/1.4?
(looking for travel lense with low aperture and a bit more zoom/detail)
That’s a tough one - I love this lens but I think if I had to choose it would be the sigma
I dont agree :) I think the Fujinon 35mm F 1.4 R is much better. I m making a new UA-cam video about it now explaning why i think so. Anyway the f2 is an great lens. Great video :)

Fair enough!
*Fujion*
Sterile and digitally corrected. Sold.
The 33 is only little bit bigger but much better
It’s much bigger and heavier
It's MUCH bigger.
