Do you mainly play these retro fighting games single player? I was just wondering since games like fatal fury 2 for the neo geo are literally almost unplayable in single player mode. The ai reads every one of your moves and has temporary invincibility frames where your attacks wont land. I just want a good single player fighting experience but I have yet to find one after relentlessly searching the neo geo fighting games library and much more.
I've owned both the Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers games. The only other game I heard of is Fighters History (because of Street Fighter). And never heard of the other fighters here
Gundam Wing endless duel is probably one of the best looking 16 bit games ever. It’s plays and feels more 32 bit than 16 bit. Crazy that it was never related in the west.
Endless Duel was so good. It was easily one of the best looking games of that generation. My brothers and I spent countless hours playing it on emulation way back when. It was the reason we figured out how to configure a second controller to the emulator. Years later after moving away from home, it was the first SFC cartridge I imported. Even though by that time, PS2 was king of the world, I still got my jollies in my Navy barracks room playing a Super Famicom fighter.
Fun fact, if you play the game and not lose a match, your last boss fight will be Epyon. I dont think i was ever able to beat Epyon. If I did, it was definitely down to the wire as I've spend a lot of time fighting him and got close so many times. Dont remember if you have to be in hard mode or not to get him to trigger. I wanna say Epyon is also a hidden character but only playable in versus mode.
Gundam Wing Endless Duel’s opening absolutely blew my mind back in the day. I went so far as to have the opening theme for it play as my pc startup theme. 1 of the best games on the system hands down.
It's amazing how many Super Famicom games had voices. No matter what genre. Fighting, RPGs, shooters, platformers, beat em ups, but western SNES games didn't have nowhere near as many voices.
Yu Yu Hakusho Final is an excellent game I had it when I was a kid, if you perform a special move when the enemy has low health there's a short cutscene, that blew my mind as a kid, not to mention the amazing OST, this and Dragon Ball Hyper Dimension are one of my favorite Fighters ever.
Did your parents get a copy of Yu Yu Hakasho Final imported from Japan from online and pull the things inside the cartilage slots that was preventing Japanese Copies played in the SNES consoles out of the SNES consoles to play Japanese Region Games on your SNES console?
I've played TMNT Tournament Fighter and the Ninja Turtles were a popular franchise at the time, so many of their fans heard of this game. Many of the games on this list were Japanese exclusives.
It returned in the recent TMNT Cowabunga Collection. The original releases were hurt by the lack of an arcade release during a period when fighting games were defined by the arcade. It didn't really help that each console (SNES, Genesis, NES) received a completely different incarnation of the game.
The Taekwondo game looks amazing. Very nice graphics and I love the cheering crowd in the background. The game looks so alive with so much people here and there like it was a real tournament. Really want to try that one along with the Ranma one that I didn't even know it existed.
I didn't know that Power Instinct and Fighter's History were ported to the SNES!😱 I played them in arcades a lot back in the day🥰 Weapon Lord more than deserve to be resurrected. Imagine it remade and running on current hardware!
There was redesign project for Weaponlord but it never took off. The art is absolutely amazing though and I would support a crowd-fund if it was ever done especially if they added more fighters.
Ranma 1/2 Hard Battle was a really fun game that I would have included over an import. It used to be one of my favorite games that I owned back in the 90s. Even though the controls were a little weird, It had amazing graphics and animation and a really great soundtrack.
Great video with a good selection of games! I'm glad to own an original copy of Gundam Wing Endless Duel. The game is worth playing even today when you're into fighting games. I love the intro and its overall music.
Tournament fighters it was my first snes game... I work hard to save my money, and buy a snes, and that cartridge... And i pay little by little, and when I have finished, I take it home... Aaaaah, so many memories... The artbook has a beautiful illustration of chrome dome...
Glad you threw the "almost" in there for those of us who would otherwise raid the comment section talking about how we haven't forgotten any of them haha. For me personally the only one that I just completely forgot/may not have ever known about was Taekwon-Do. Everything else I'd played, owned, or at least heard of (always wanted to play Battle Tycoon). And I played the hell out of some Endless Duel!
When I was a kid, my dad often time went to Japan for work and he always brings back games from Japan to play on my SFC. I remember playing almost all of the games on this list.
me and my brother played Gundam endless duel nonstop, the aircombos were introduced here way before marvel vs capcom series. And I'm glad you used Heavyarms stage to feature.. amazing track!!
The Gundam Wing Endless: Duel game is so good. Not only the gameplay and graphics but the soundtrack is so good, definitely in the top 5 for SNES games. I actually have several videos of me playing that game with a buddy over a decade ago in my channel. I've also played the Sailor Moon and Ranma games a long time ago but I never really paid attention to them.
TMNT Tournament Fighters isn't overlooked at all. It has a quite surprising competitive scene and people researched some tech on it. Gundam W Endless Duel, a shame that game got stuck in Japan because it's gorgeous.
You are right. In fact, from the list it's probably the best known game. Although I think Konami itself was more confident in its sales success (which finally didn't happen).
TMNT Tournament Fighters was really cool, from what I remember playing of it though the controls just weren't as responsive as Street Fighter, but then again during the time it came out that was probably a very high bar to reach
Fun fact played all these games on the Snes emulator back in HS. Actually was lucky enough to play ranama1/2 on snes in the early 90's before the anime hype. Btw that gundam fighter game was remade for the PS1 flew under radars undetected tho. So did the MMPR fighting game! So many memories.

I rented the Yu Yu Hakusho Final and the MMPR Fighting game a LOT back in the day (one of benefits of pirated cartridges being common in south america, we got a lot of japanese games like YYH and Ranma)

I remember ranma 1/2 hard battle cause it was advertised on a vhs of one of the episodes. Endless duel Gundam wing yea I played that emulated and than playing power rangers fighter power rangers was poorly done and limited fighters but at least they included Ivan ooze would have been nice if they included the original megazord, dragonzord, dragonzord in fighting mode, red dragon in fighting mode to expand the roster or even tigerzord warrior mode
There actually is a copy of Ranma 1/2 Hard Battle on the SNES. I played it back when my grandfather's stepdaughter had a rental store. When they were going out of business I tried to buy it but it was already sold off to pay off any debt they owed. Sucks I never got the chance to buy it off them but luck would have it someone is selling it on Amazon for a fair price.
THIS. Is why Xmen: Children of the Atom is one of the greatest fighting games of all time. It too was released in 94/95 and it's so incredibly good, it not only blows all its feeble competition out of the water but it aged like fine wine to this day. Far superior to all of it's muffled, clunky, so called "peer group". And I say that as a fighting game enthusiast. People will make excuse after excuse but almost 30 years later...there is no excuse. I give it it's flowers and take a bow to true vision and beauty. Its literally decades ahead of it's time...
Weaponlord is so epic. If they had smoothed out the SNES gameplay a little more it would have been much more regarded. Maybe one day DJAMES will get the chance, IIRC he worked on the KI reboot .
The real problem with 16-bit fighting games is that most people will play them via emulation. And at that point, it’s just as easy to emulate arcade games, which are a lot better during this era.
gundam wing is my favorite fighting game of snes. is forgotten by the most of the people, I dont know why. but is hardly to find this rom in the packs.
You've played all the Super Nintendo fighting hits, but have you ever tried these overlooked gems?

The yu yu Hakusho games were dope.
Ranma 1/2 actually seems to be a great game... Liked those sprites...
Like 👍 your videos keep up the great work
Many thanks Ivan!
Everyone in the West who had some sort of SNES emulator have played Endless Duel
So many games look amazing.
Gundam wing endless duel and the mighty Morphin power rangers fighting edition on snes both used the same engine more or less which was a great move.
Primal Rage was a good one too
Awesome list. Looks like Japan has a lot of hidden gems
that Sailor moon fighting game was super hard with a cheap AI. I received it from some woman in Japan who was giving away all her childhood games.
The real problem with 16-bit fighting games is that most people will play them via emulation. And at that point, it’s just as easy to emulate arcade games, which are a lot better during this era.
Hands down the weapon Lord was the toughest game I've ever played
Tmnt tournamet fighters was an awesome game.
I know you hear this often but what’s the name of your intro music? It sounds epic would love to hear the full song
Aries Beats "Synthwave Dreams 2020"
Gundam Wing is one of the best ❤
I thought I was the only one that remembered Weaponlord. I'm probably still not far from right.
Power Rangers its awesome, but Gundan Wing its pure perfection! Best fighing game on SNES (to me)
"Gundam Battle Assault 2" has all the "G Gundam" and "Gundam Wing"in it
I think that the Ranma game is really good, but if it was faster the game would be one of my favorite
There was a exclusive one call Tuff E Nuff.
What a pity we never got to play that Godzilla fight game or Variable Geo. Instead, we get a cut-rate Mortal Kombat, Weaponlord. 😞
gundam wing is my favorite fighting game of snes. is forgotten by the most of the people, I dont know why. but is hardly to find this rom in the packs.
