Midnight releases are exactly what gaming should be about. My first midnight release was Fallout 3. I had no idea what it was but the older kids at gamestop were excited about it so I instantly put $5 down on a collectors edition copy. i miss doing the midnight releases i used to love going to these when i was young to early 20s. now a midnight release is installing the game days in advance and just waiting for 12 to hit lol. you always ran into someone you knew, you always made new friends/took their gamertags down, if you didn't pre order there was the fear of possibly standing there for nothing haha. best feeling in the world was walking in making the payment and then riding off and just staring at the game case whole ride home. #nostalgia

I don't really want to be out at 12 midnight waiting in a huge line in a store to buy a game. I rather have all my games pre loaded and ready to play right at launch nice and comfortable on my couch. To each their own though obviously. Different strokes.
If people want to play immediately they would pre-order a digital copy which sometime contains early access, otherwise there's plenty of other options to get the game without going to a store at midnight.

I never went to a midnight release but the day Legend Of Zelda TOTK came out, I had to get it a physical copy of it at GameStop. It was one of those games that I knew I would love so much I had to get the physical copy and am so glad I did that. Now whenever I see the box of the game, I just remember my excitement driving to GameStop, the commercials for the game playing in the store, people lining up to buy it as well, and just having that sort of having that child like bubbly feeling whenever I looked at the art for it on the box. I live in Canada and I pre-ordered Call of Duty Black Ops 6 months back probably late June, the only thing is there was no midnight launch here in Edmonton where I live, the only way to get the steelbook is through the mail and get the game delivered to you. There's no option to pick up the game at my local GameStop. I did get the steelbook, the only thing is I didn't get the game until Tuesday! Yesterday, even though the game came out Friday.
