7:23 That’s because The Beetle is basically a Mexican Culture Icon. we call it “vocho” to this day you see tons of beetles on the streets, reliable, economic and Cool looking 😎
You guys don't even imagine how popular is the Beetle in Brazil. Thousands of mint condition _"Fuscas"_ (how it is called here) share the streets with brand new cars, as if they shared dealers windows. Wich is pretty cool imo For those with some spare cash, it's a very common way into the car culture to buy one as a first project car.
Aldo Pinheiro I have always been amazed at how well they thrive in warmer climates for an air cooled car designed in the relatively cold climate of Deutschland! There are still so many of them chugging away in service in Mexico, as well.
It still is the best-selling car of all time. Corolla and Civic are just nameplates: the ones sold today have nothing in common with the originals. The final Beetle sold in 2003 is so closely related to the first one sold in the late 30s that you could literally swap each car's body onto the other's floorpan.
Not according to current records. The Corolla is considered the best selling nameplate of all time. That's despite the fact that there were 3 generations of the Beetle. Also, the RWD Beetles and the FWD Golf-based Beetles are not interchangeable!
@@johnnymason2460 Good thing I wasn’t talking about the FWD Beetles, then. The original, air-cooled Beetle was in production in Mexico up until 2003 and sold over 21 million units, and that’s not even counting the supplementary Super Beetle.

Of course the Corolla and other nameplates have sold more, I suggested as much in my original comment, but you can’t rightfully call the current Corolla and the original the same car. They share nothing but the name. One’s a modern FWD compact, and the other is RWD, the size of a cracker box, and was never powered by anything bigger than a carbureted engine that made half the power of the modern Corolla’s BASE engine. A fairer comparison would be how much each Corolla generation sold, or even how many units were sold over the course of generations that were closely related.
I had a 1972 VW Beetle. I loved that car. It was so fun to drive and get around. Small so you can park in some of the smallest parking spots. Easy to repair. Gosh, it was easy to repair. It was a great little car.
Had two of them. 67 Beetle, 1974 Super Beetle. Fun to drive. Still amazes me how a country bombed to rubble very quickly produced the highest production car in the world for many decades.

I was a rear passenger in a Baja Bug that had the rear seats removed and had shag carpet instead (pretty cool). On the way back from fishing the driver over corrected on a sweeping turn and flipped the Bug four times. During which time the battery arose from under my seat and went out the passenger window. We were relatively unharmed but the Bug was toast. Good times.

Also in my contry this car is so easy to fix that some people use pliers and wire, and make a shit Ton of mods, like putting a 2.0L 4cyl turbo beetween 300hp to 700hp FOR DRAG RACING, some people survive, some get injured, and few one dies (but is rare bcs Brazilian RWD drivers are actually pretty good) Our love for the for the car "Fusca" (Thats How we call the beetle) is so big that this car even have a day called "dia do Fusca" that means the "beetle's day", the when is celebrated the day the beetle for realesed here, a really cool day

Taste in cars is so subjective and when i was a kid herbie was the coolest car. I still say my name is Jim Douglas to randoms who ask my name.
I can tell that the host of this video does know any real history of WWII that isn't tied to some allied propaganda. LOL Hitler didnt invade Czech because they sued them, he did it because they were treating Germans badly and Hitler did not like how they were doing this to Ethnic Germans there. That's why. Good grief the host is brainwashed.
He lives in LA, so I don't even have to say anything else... And also the best reason was the immense natural resources in Czechoslovakia and factories for his war machine. But it's not cool to think for yourself, you should know it by now!
The Greatest comeback ever. Going from the car built for HITLER...to the LOVE BUG...couldn't be farther apart. Most DUmb kids that own VWs don't even know that.
Jesse Martin But you’re a VW fanboy so that might be one reason, right? A regular, non-car-enthusiastic person looking for a reliable car would choose it because it’s a good car. Knowing it’s history is not required to own it and knowing the history makes no difference when owning it. Literally.
Stance your beetle, change your engine, add a speedhunter bodykit, change the lights,etc...you have a speedhunter beetle which is super cool.If you wanna put any other bodykit, please do.Beetle is small and much can be done to it.Even though the beetle is a car,it is more like a feeling

I live in Brazil, and i can that, we DO love the beetles, we love them so much that, in 1984 the beetle stopped Been produced here, in 2 years, we were have been so annoying to the president that he told to the VW factorys to return the production of the beetles in 1986, and It got been made till 1996 with a 1.8L Boxer.
Also in my contry this car is so easy to fix that some people use pliers and wire, and make a shit Ton of mods, like putting a 2.0L 4cyl turbo beetween 300hp to 700hp FOR DRAG RACING, some people survive, some get injured, and few one dies (but is rare bcs Brazilian RWD drivers are actually pretty good)
Our love for the for the car "Fusca" (Thats How we call the beetle) is so big that this car even have a day called "dia do Fusca" that means the "beetle's day", the when is celebrated the day the beetle for realesed here, a really cool day
I have a Turbo S and I love it. I've modded it quite a bit, but even stock it was a fun little machine. Now it's a 300 hp monster that no one expects
AE86 now please
Well he'd have to do a video on the corolla its self, and the AE86 and AE111 are really the only memorable ones. It'd be a pretty short video...
Those clips of you talking to yourself are hilarious
I wish you had explained how the Porsche got some of its design feature from the beetle (more details than just that Porsche worked at VW)
Greatest vehicle of all time. These days they aren't as affordable as the predissor
Greatest vehicle of all time to some. I'd prefer a aussie 4dr muscle car like my 1970 vg valiant which costs less than a beetle and has 250HP.
eh why am i writing this.. Taste in cars is so subjective and when i was a kid herbie was the coolest car. I still say my name is Jim Douglas to randoms who ask my name.
the first gen beetles are so sexy to me
You get a thumbs up just for the Young Frankenstein clip!
7:11 Designed by the most notorious mass murderer? I didn't know that Porsche was such a bad guy. Thanks for opening up my eyes.
Adam Papp
Worse than Stalin, Pol Pot, or even Ghengis Khan apparently
I can tell that the host of this video does know any real history of WWII that isn't tied to some allied propaganda. LOL Hitler didnt invade Czech because they sued them, he did it because they were treating Germans badly and Hitler did not like how they were doing this to Ethnic Germans there. That's why. Good grief the host is brainwashed.
He lives in LA, so I don't even have to say anything else... And also the best reason was the immense natural resources in Czechoslovakia and factories for his war machine. But it's not cool to think for yourself, you should know it by now!
Or Chairman Mao, or Che Guevara...........or..................Saddam Hussein...
Adam Papp shit you guys dont know the word humor. Fuck off.
Volkswagen is the favorite car manufacturer you have on the Autobahn.
Saab up next!
6:05 best 1man skit I've ever seen 😂
''Back to work?''
''Back to work.''
May the Force be with You *wörk
*clink*
No, back to verk
Its werk, dammit, has a W and no umlaut, just E.
Lol, a parent at my school has one of those and drives them to school every day in it! It’s the 50’s one!
Right-y-o, good chap
err, you DO realise English people don't actually talk like that?
Very entertaining run down on my favourite car. Thanks old chap. Jolly good.
Whaaat? I thought everything on the internet was true...
please please pretty please do the NÜRBURGRING!!!
TurboSnail420 why would they do a video for a Race Track? If that's the case, do LeMans.
My grandfather used to be a taxi driver in Mexico City. The white top and green bottom paint old beetle is iconic
3:17 was so hilarious XD
You know I think the Beetle will stay with us until the end of time... What's that? 2018 is the last year for the Beetle? God Damnit!
The Greatest comeback ever. Going from the car built for HITLER...to the LOVE BUG...couldn't be farther apart.
Most DUmb kids that own VWs don't even know that.
JerseyMikeP Not somthing that has to be known to own it.
@@liamivarsson I knew that before I got my bug
Jesse Martin But you’re a VW fanboy so that might be one reason, right? A regular, non-car-enthusiastic person looking for a reliable car would choose it because it’s a good car. Knowing it’s history is not required to own it and knowing the history makes no difference when owning it. Literally.
@@liamivarsson I Know but I could never see myself buying a car without knowing it's history
I believe herbie is one reason why volkswagon had a hard time putting it down.
Stance your beetle, change your engine, add a speedhunter bodykit, change the lights,etc...you have a speedhunter beetle which is super cool.If you wanna put any other bodykit, please do.Beetle is small and much can be done to it.Even though the beetle is a car,it is more like a feeling
Awesome video dude! Down here in México we have entire YT channels dedicated to the bug (myself have a couple of tutorials lmao). Known in México as "Vocho". But, the "new beetle" is still called "The Beetle". In México there's entire car clubs dedicated to this iconic car, and modded to aesthetically pleasing cars ♥
Everything we need to know to get up to speed on AUDI A4, S4, RS4!!
And I only watch Donut Media because of James.
My '64 type 1 is still going. 40hp baby!
The background music at 6:54 is Die Woodys - Fichtl's Lied
Get up to speed on the s-chassis ? 240sx s13 s14 s15
HUMAN CARSOUNDS already done. It was the first up to speed
S15 gmc variant of s10? 🤔😂
@@Feloarts it was actually gtr
@@SamBeanie Um no. I have been watching since 110K and the first Up to speed was the silvia/ S13,14 and 15. Up to speed was originally a top 10 fact list of each car but it was changed in the second episode which i belove was the Skyline/GT-R
@@Feloarts oh ok nvm then
