Great tips. I must say though as someone who specializes in cleaning of all types(50 years experience), I'd HIGHLY suggest using as warm of water as possible in a washing machine in order to kills germs, bacteria, dust mites, or mites of Any kind. If your water heater is set Too high (where it could melt man made material), i suggest temporarily turning that thermostat down and wash ALL bedding at the SAME time. It doesn't help much to wash pillows, yet put them on bedding that still has pollen, dander, mites, etc that spreads back to the pillows. Also, if you have a machine that has a Delicate setting, use that at the longest time possible. I also use a Prewash cycle first, to get rid of the "gross-ness", instead of having bedding Soaking in the yuk for that Lonnng Delicate cycle. I put a tiny amount of bleach in the prewash to kill the germs and bacteria. I know pillows "say" no bleach, but I've done it for years and have REvived every pillow I've ever owned. (they're STILL alive)😏 OxyClean is also a grrreat product to throw in WITH an UNSCENTED detergent. Trust me, don't use scented detergents on bedding and pillows. You're breathing those chemicals in for Hours while you sleep, and your skin is Absorbing them. Bedding is the One type f laundry to go dye-Free, scent-free for a healthy life.😊
I'm having a baby soon and realized how often my skin is in contact with dyes and chemicals when I switched laundry soap for the baby clothes. So now I'm switching for EVERYTHING.
If you are concerned about your bedding because you sleep on those chemicals all night, you also need to remember you wear those chemicals ALL day.
@Bmac7961 ABSOLUTELY! I've switched WHAT I wash everything with, and how MUCH I use. I make my own detergent usually. It's easy. There's a lot of UA-cam videos how-to
GREAT tips! Thank you!
@@livingblueyes4396Whivh recipe for laundry detergent do you use that works well?
Warm water doesn't kill anything but does dissolve grease in which bacteria love
Bleach doesn't work if mixed with detergent and can create poisonous gas
I always use 2 pillow slips so pillows dont get dirty.
When i wash the pillows i hang them out in the sun .Warm water dissolves any grease on them and removes smells
Australian summer sun dries quickly
As someone with frequent nose bleeds I would like to add that peroxide gets blood out beautifully. You can put capfuls, not diluted, directly on the blood stain and then launder per instructions 😊
Agreed, peroxide has been great w blood stains. 👍
😊. Another GREAT product for blood stains is Fels Naptha soap bar. It's in the laundry detergent aisle and it is a miracle product!
That's bcuz peroxide actually breaks down the blood cells and chlorine bleach doesn't break it down completely, altho it'll still bleach it. But peroxide truly gets rid of it. Fun fact: this is why luminol is still able to see blood stains that a criminal tried to bleach away with chlorine bleach. If a criminal were to use peroxide instead, the luminol won't light up bcuz it's already been broken down. Plus there's no bleach smell left behind to raise suspicion! Thank goodness most of them are clueless to this! Anyway, that was my weird little 2 cents! 😊
Does it clean old blood stains as well or does it have to be fresh stains?
Also be sure to wash blood stains on COLD water first. Wash with warmer water AFTER you get the stain removed with peroxide, detergent, and cold water.
That’s an awesome iPhone feature what
Sadly it’s not working for me on a iPhone 12pro.😢
All phones have this option now through your phone it throws a symbol before u take the picture u press that and bam u got the lens looking through the Internet for a match
Androids have Google lens.
I had no idea! I’m going to try it-iPhone 12
@@dabzprincess92Not all phones.
Thank you for these tips. Also, many seniors are now following you, because you give clear cut directions!😊
Good to know about the machine settings for pillows as well. I love dryer balls. They really cut drying time and I sometimes will add a drop or two of lavender essential oil to them before drying.
Sun drying pillows is the best! Kills germs too!
Recently came across your channel. I really enjoy the pleasant but no fluff information. I’ve gotten some great ideas in the last few days. I’m hopeful I can become more streamlined in my cleaning routines. Thanks! 👍
Find washable pillow covers and put them in between the external cover to prevent drool soakage 😂 tip from a friend 😅
Thank you for posting this! You just gave me an idea.
Good tip. Not just for drool but body oils from your face too
Yes!! I do this with my mattress, I got my cover a little too big so it would fit over my big expensive mattress topper and actually keep both clean. It's a game changer, I'll have to do this for my nice pillows now too!
@brandithompson8070 omg yes, I have white/light sheets and you can tell where I lay in my bed😂 By the end of the week, there's a lotion/body oil shadow in my spot lmao, it comes out in the wash but still, I hate it😂😂
That would do the trick. I've been using two pillow cases for ages, mostly for allergens but also to reduce oils getting down past the single cover and into the pillow.
Thank you for mentioning the extra rinse. It should also be standard to use an extra rinse for all loads washed in a high efficiency washer.
😊 absolutely, the new washing machines don't use a lot of water, I always use extra rinse and a tiny amount of detergent.
I wash all my pillows on extra high water temp and high dryer heat. Our down and plastic filled pillows were washed at least monthly and have responded well. And always after a cold or illness.
If they die after a couple years, it's an expense I'm willing to pay for the cleanliness next to our faces.
That's a lot of PLASTIC going to drainage!
@@AnaLuisa-si8uo maybe? We are conscientious of our plastic footprint and reuse the filling for dog toys.
@@CatyBee that's good, but everytime you wash those plastic filled pillows you're throwing lots of microplastica into rhe drainage system, which will ultimately get to the ocean 😕
@@AnaLuisa-si8uoI mean, don’t most of the microplastics in the ocean come from paint? We’ll never get rid of them. Every time you touch or use something that has plastic in it you’re inadvertently producing microplastics. We should most definitely stop producing so much new plastic instead of recycling the old stuff but IMO it’s kind of pointless to worry about what’s already been made, beyond reusing it and trying not to be wasteful.
If you don’t have dryer balls you can also use tennis balls. Works very well with your comforters too.
Great spread awareness about memory foam !! 😃👏🏼
I have a couple of pillows that are my favorite and I have 5 pillows on my bed. I keep my older pillows in the back so they don't get used much but they do need to be washed and I never knew I can use peroxide to clean them. Thank you so much for the cleaning tips.
I just bought new pillows too and I'm going to get pillow protectors for them to keep them cleaner for longer 🙃
I washed one of the foam pillows that is all chopped up. It was before I knew there was such a thing. I almost couldn't get it out of the washer because it absorbed so much water. It probably weighed 25lbs. After squishing I tried hanging it outside. 3 days later, it was still soaking wet. So good advice!
Peroxide is amazing! I had a long time coffee stain on the white pillowcase that was taken into the couch. A little peroxide and I used a little bit of baking soda. Voilà! Perfect.
And dryer balls! I never ever ever use dryer sheets ever never will again! I have a ton of them am I clothes come out so beautifully soft. I have so many because I take my blankets and comforters to the laundromat. I put about five or more in each of the dryers that I use and it always works out perfectly.
I have a buckwheat pillow and one thing I love about it is that I can just dump the buckwheat into a container, wash the "pillow case," and then put it back together... I wish I could say the same for my other pillows :)
Well if you have a sewing machine and beginner level skill then technically you still can, but it is a messy job because the stuffing goes everywhere if you are not prepared for it.
The fact we have the same washing machine makes me so confident to try. I broke my last washing machine from bulky items loaded incorrectly with no agitator and I just got the Maytag pet pro too! I have been scared to wash anything big yet😅
I was never taught how to do this. Thank you.
I just bought some of those dryer balls, I LOVE them!!
I learned a lot with this video
Yeahhh, I'm just gon' go ahead and buy another pillow.
Thanks ❤
New subbie! 😊 Wow! Great tips!
🤔 Hmmm, good to know... thanks for sharing!!💚
I love your cleaning videos!
After airing the memory foam out, put them in a freezer (not mushed up) for 4-6hrs. Let them reach room temp (~1hr) before using them. The memory foam responds well to the freeze cycle.
Most down feather pillows can be washed with care. I used to get them reticked until I learned that.
I don't have a big enough freezer. I don't live in America 😅😂
@@DebbieTDPI live in the US and there is no way to fit even one pillow in my freezer-especially not squished up! 😂
Or put them outside in winter/below zero temps
@@michynaturehaha, not in a Florida Keys winter. We’re lucky to get to 68° one or two days in the winter!😂
@@susans8093 you don’t have winter hello
Great VD thks
thanks for that iPhone tip!!! I had no idea, how cool!
I use tennis balls & the fluff your down coats,as well as your pillows.
Just use enclosed pillow protectors to avoid stains,
Thank you for this!!!
Gods I need some good pillows for real. Those look so nice and sturdy. Mine are all lumps and nothing else.
Water-proof pillow covers!
I washed my memory foam pillow. Took a week to dry fully but it worked.
I lay mine in the sun
Mystery yellow spots are your drool 😅
I always wonder what they're thinking when they're rescued. It must have been a relief for her when you wrapped her up and tucked her into the incubator with all the plushies. Like, "OK, she's not going to eat me, so I guess I'll get some sleep." Poor little mite.
Thank you for the tips
I have feather/down pillows and wash in the washer (front loader) and dry on High heat then a quick air fluff and they come out looking almost new after a 10 years of use.
Can you use the peroxide spray on the mattress too?
perfect video I'm gonna start next week
This page is just love at first sight. I have few suggestions, please make a video on recommended cleaning products for different types of rooms or issues. Including appliances and chemicals. And sort them from basic or essential to extreme/ elite . Also i am unable to find a video on kitchen oven cleaner or hood cleaner. Specially self cleaning oven. It will be nice if i can get one
How do I do this in my shared laundry space in my condo with no outdoor space please? Love this video! Thank you!
This guy's content vanished for s while. So glad to have him back in my feed!!!!!
Ever since my favourite pillow fell apart in the washing machine I don’t put them in, but I have pillow covers that I was twice a month
i like how you say tag lol
There’s no words….
Or take them to a laudromat and put several in one of those giant big boy machines that does 4 or 5 loads of laundry at the same time. (I suggest taking them home to dry as those dryers are too hot no matter what setting. I'm also taking my king size-oversized quilt to one as well. (If you're skittish about germs, wipe the inside of the machine with alcohol before laundering.) Prevents wear and tear of your washer and really gets the items moving around in the water and cleaned.
🌟🗨Appreciate Your Tips on Cleaning Home I Already do my own & some are same or similar to yours❗️❣️🤗 & Prayers Sir🙏🏼
Yes that is why I always bought so much hydrogen peroxide because I feel like it cleans better than using constant bleach and things like that in a little bit more harmful also to breathe in so my main go to was hydrogen peroxide.
I wash my pillowcase once a week and i keep a pillow protector on my pillow to keep it from absorbing sweat as much as possible. Even then I leave my pillows outside to air three or four times a year just to make sure they aren’t holding on to moisture. My one non memory foam pillow gets washed twice a year, and aired with the rest. After 6-8 years they get replaced. They usually seem ok at their retirement if a bit flat, but still. After 6-8 years im giving it the side eye, not too sure what alls growing in there. Especially the non washable foam ones.
I love all the tragedy pimps LL ❤
and you are a pretty lady inside and outside.
Drool stains! 😍
Avoid all of this by buying a removable pillow cover that goes under the pillow case, & can be removed & washed.
Look on the taehg, are you Canadian?! that’s why I love this channel.
Any advice for dusting and keeping pet hair to a minimal? My apartment gets very dusty which is fine because I know some of it is because I keep the windows open for airflow and stuff. But my place has cat hair almost everywhere. I find it in food at times even when I know I have washed my hands and utensils really well. I try to Swiffer from time to time, I brush her from time to time, but I do laundry and cat hair on everything. Cat hair in our hair. Cat hair on the mattress. Cat hair and dust on shelf's and under furniture. I don't know if I am cleaning effectively. I also don't know how to reduce her shedding because I can't afford grooming or expensive pet cleaning tools like the pet vacuum, etc.
We too struggled with cat hair once. Swept with broom and dust pan, a wet rubber glove for bedding, carpet, couches. We finally bought a Shark Rocket duo clean stick vac onsale. Game changer. Wish we did that sooner. Plus the tool for defuzzing a coat but used it on carpet. Only do it occasionally and game changer. A pumkin brush with rubber tips, another game changer. Keep trying, you'll get there. We finally did. Discovered Rocki and Roxie enzyme cleaner too... amazing... !
I have a rabbit and dog-dog is year round, rabbit is a bit less year round with insane shedding right now. I brush them weekly outside, sweep and mop at least 2x a week. I might try washing the dog more frequently and researching a lower shed shampoo, if available.
More frequent cleaning and trying to find safe solutions for the pets is all I have.
Had a relatively basic roomba for a few years to assist-not to replace sweeping or vacuum-it helped a bit but was constantly getting caught on things.
My sister did have the Dyson pet version vacuum (dogs and cats) and wasn’t impressed
What about down pillows?
Awesome!
😂 I just take mine to the Laundromat and use the huge machines, and lay them out to dry!
My 6yo son is watching this with me and asked "Is that the Grinch doing this?". We was referring to the green gloves. So funny
Do you need to rinse the hydrogen pyroxide, or just let it dry? Also, can you spray rubbing alcohol on them first?
That pool party is a millennial's dream! Sending love from California ❤❤❤
Whaaaat??🤣
❤️✊🏻👑😁
Thank you!
“Check the tegs” 😂
That would be awesome....if my washing machine was big enough and don't have a dryer. Unfortunately i need to try and buy as regularly as possible ×2 pillows for 6 people!!! I wonder if i can wash them in the bath tub??
The mystery yellow spots are sweat. A lot of sweating happens during sleep, especially after a supper that had a lot of meat.
Why is there no temperature on your washing machine? Is that an American thing?
I've never seen numerical temperatures on washing machines. Yes I'm American. What does it say on yours/are you in Europe?
@@sjohnson65456 I am in Europe. The washing programs all have different ranges you can choose from, but all in all you can choose: 0, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 or 95 degrees Celsius. My machine is about 3 years old.
How do you clean down-filled pillows? Thanks!
google it
Can I dry my pillows in dryer then lay or hang in bright sunlight to freshen more? Thank you for vids. 😊💜
Gonna get pollen on them sitting them outside
Under 1 hour gang

What's the solution for sheets balling up in the dryer?
😮😮😮😮
That's great... if you have a washing machine
Pro tip: Skip washing. Replace your pillows.
Mine always smell like a wet duck for days after they come out of the dryer. Even on cold. Anyone got a good tip?
Is it down? My comforter has a weird smell after washing too😅
@jeffreydeng9068: Clean your washer with vinegar. Do a dedicated wash just to wash your washer. (google it) Then make sure to thoroughly double rinse (two rinses) and thoroughly dry. Never add too much detergent, 2 tablespoons is enough for normal washies. Add 1/4 cup vinegar to the wash.
@@chai_lattes try using 1 or 2 cups of vinegar when washing them . Wash with vinegar first then wash with laundry soap .Vinegar locks in color also so your clothes dont fade as fast , it brightens clothes, remove stains, eliminate odors, and even act as a natural fabric softener. You could also try filling a spray bottle with a bit of vinegar and water , spray them then hang them/set outside to air out . The vinegar smell goes away . Vinegar is a great cleaner all over the house .
You can also sprinkle baking soda on your pillows and mattress let is sit for 30-60 minutes then vacuum up the baking soda . You can put the baking soda in a baggie first with 1-2 drops of lavender oil before putting it on your pillows and mattress .
@@shari9721 Baking soda will ultimately destroy vacuum motors. Even with a HEPA filter, if the filtration system is compromised, then the risk is that the baking soda can get around the filter. The vacuum repair person who told me this (over the sad remains of my shot vacuum) said that baking soda can compromise the filtration system because it clogs the pores of bags and filters. Commercial powder deodorizers are no different.
Waterproof pillow covers and you’ll never have to wash your pillow
Same. I use a waterproof/ dustproof cover, then a quilted pillow cover so they don't feel like plastic underneath, and a pillowcase on top. Perfectly clean pillows.
Also i never understood why or even how items could dry on a no heat setting
No iPhone, that's ok, a 2 second Google search, so easy
What if you don't have a dryer?!?!?! 😂 I don't have one but my pillows DESPERATELY need done.
Take them to a laundromat or to your parents when you go for a visit lol or buy a 2nd set of pillows and switch pillows each time you wash , hang your pillows outside , shaking and fluffing every few hours making sure they're really dry .
I like the Mike Lindell pillows (my pillows) You can wash them and they don’t get lumpy🥰👍🏼
Are you suggesting there is more than one setting on a washing machine?
what kind of washing machine is that
Why use COOL water instead of HOT? I would think to use hot water to break down all the crud on the pillow…anybody?
I think they’re just saying not the hottest setting cuz it can damage synthetics . Warm water still get fairly hot
Low to no heat? That must take forever. I put mine on the nuke em setting aka sanitize. I’m not planning on keeping them forever.
I tried washing my pillows & they would NOT dry :( we got a new washer like 2 years ago, & also, I think the pillows I washed, they like..absorb a TON of water. I tried drying them like 6 times & air dried & even extra drained it like a million times in the wash & my pillows got mold & mildew in them, so I had to throw them away😭😭
My washing repair guy told me to never wash my pillows in the washing machine (can cause damage to the machine) and to take them to the laundromat and wash in there industrial size machines
I need you to come to my house please ...😊
Best advice is: don't let your pillows get so gross in the first place.
How much % das the Hydrogen Peroxide have?
please give us a mattress video 😂
40 degrees of Celsius is not cold, but warm water.
I just buy new ones
very cool i never knew how to clean pillows up until now
🧐🤨 where do you live?
Why no heat on the dry cycle?
Don't want to overheat/damage the pillow material, a lot of them will say on the instructions
I washed a feather pillow once - and never will I do that again! It was almost new, but my grandson who was still a baby, ended up peeing on it. So I washed and spun it and lay it by my door, to dry in the sun - and it stank!!! I'm not exaggerating to say that it smelled like death! It was so bad that I literally smothered it in several bin bags and put it in the bin! The only explanation I have for this, is that there must have been bird dna still around those feathers, but some chemical added to kill off any smell and washing it must have gotten rid of the chemical. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I would love to know.
Yes down feathers can smell AWFUL
Buy some new ones if you can❤ if not I’ll understand
But look how they're all lumpy afterward tho. This is bad for your neck and back. There's no way to get the filling perfectly smooth again. I'd say just get a really good protective liner and use a pillowcase over that so you have double protection. Spot clean the pillow itself if you really need to, and buy a new one once a year at least.
Who has this kind of time...child just put them in the washing machine...say a prayer place in dryer and roll with it lol😅
