As a petrol head like you, I struggled to find an affordable EV with enough power to satisfy my needs. I drove the MG4 and enjoyed the experience, as someone who daily drives a 308 GTi and a Porsche Boxster, that's pretty high praise! I'd happily own one of these.
Hi Bex, great review and I believe a lot of the reviews for the MG 4 are similar to yours, that being it is a great car. I've ordered my car and hopefully will be picking it up this weekend. The oil leak thing doesn't put me off at all because I'm sure this will be covered in the warranty. Love the car reg plate you drove in. A bit unfortunate but probably would suit me tbh! Thank you.
I think this is a great fun rear wheel drive car for small family. If your family has 5 grown up. Then I think this is not the right car and particular on long journey. I would take it as second car or for small family with 2 children
Bex, although I like the review, it would appear that you are yet another reviewer who has not picked up on the oil leak issue in the MG4. It’s a great car, took one out for a test drive and ordered one but since my order an oil leak has been discovered by many owners. I do wish reviewers like yourself would pick up on the latest news and then you could add your weight to exposing the problem. Maybe then MG/SAIC would sit up, take notice and do something about it.
I got the car for an hour, and as this isn’t an owners review, it is solely on those first impressions of the car at an event. All new cars have their teething problems so hopefully something that MG will pick up on!
I’ve just taken delivery of a Peugeot e208GT - lovely car and has the oomph when needed. However if this had been available 4 months ago I’d certainly have put the MG4 at the top of the list - bigger, cheaper and more range than the Peugeot - what’s not to love?
Hi Bex. Thanks for the review. I've test drove the SE Short range and since ordered a Trophy in Camden Grey. Is the extra horsepower significant to the driving experience between the two models?
Like the review Bex , I know time may not permit , but I would like to see a drive from where you are , to Flamborough , to St Bees and back in a day , in that car .
@@aadamileekennedy2754 I don't think that is correct. EV cars have differentials which hold oil. The leak is at the rear of the car where the diff sits. I reckon this is the issue. I put a deposit down but the dealer gave me it back. He also admitted that the demonstrator now has the oil leak. This was a weak ago and MG UK are looking for answers from China. Hope they can sort the issue as I liked the car.
Don't keep telling people that the starting price is £25000 when it is nearer £26000. Also you failed to mention the lack of rear wiper and more importantly that for safety reasons it is only a 4 seater, no centre head restraint, unless neck injuries are no longer considered important.
For this size car , I won’t put 5 adults in . Like to have 2 adults and 2-3 children at the back. Unless you have a big family of course. Safety is top priority. The MG5 might do better for the purpose . Never used the rear wiper on my 54 reg Corolla and the new Kodiaq.
No rear wiper and no height adjustment on passenger seat and it’s set to high for tall people, It’s a good car but MG need to get some of these basic points sorted
Ha ha ha. VW ID3 is made in China. Volvo is owned by Geely - ie, is Chinese, and many other cars. Even the device you typed that on was made in China. Most Tesla cars built now use LFP batteries made in China. Get uo to speed mate.

It should do really well in the UK, with its price, range, specs and handling.

Apparently they think it might be the AC dump as there is no oil - anywhere. I’m not knowledgeable enough to know whether that could be correct.

@@JJamJ it leaked on the early models and it was due ro overfill of differential box so its probably sorted with the new models

This was a first impressions video due to the limited time with the car, especially from a performance side
