I rented the 800mt to ride from Santiago to Ushuia. The suspension is extremely weak, perhaps downright cheap. The lack of compression or rebound combined with weak internals is a real liability. I bent the front rim in three places and the rear rim in two places on two small pot holes; both while on pavement with pillion at less than 40 KPH. The tires had high air pressure to help the sidewalls from collapsing to the rims. When riding solo at pace i was able to skip over small obstacles. We hobbled into beautiful Ushuaia by constantly using an air compressor. The plastic switch for the cruise control fell apart after the second day. The engine was the highlight. The transmission and quick shifter worked well. The ergonomics were the highlight. This moto is for a gentle rider (without a passenger) that wants a low entry price and can afford the steep depreciation in value. Caveat emptor.

      Hi Lincoln
      Thanks for watching and commenting!
Gee, I hope the issues were down to possible neglect upon the people hiring the bike and the hire firm, they'd get some stick. Yet, you had a good experience with the transmission and quickshiter. I hope there isn't quality control issues with the bike.
The suspension seemed fine to me, so much so I didn't even mention it.
Interestingly, the used market for motorbikes and cars is very strong here in Western Australia, maybe even Australia? So, depreciation may not be a thing, only time will tell.

@@TheNakedBikers I had no problems with the rental agency or initial condition. Fun bike if kept within its limitations. 2 up exceeds the suspension’s limitations.

Okay, that’s good to know. My Tiger Rally Pro is great carrying a passenger and there are zero suspension issues.

A pom in Queensland? I wonder why? The weather in winter is better than a summers day in the UK!
Great review of the CFmoto 800MT Touring. If i was in the market for an inexpensive touring bike, it would be the explore. It just has so many features. However, you get what you pay for.
Triumph in Aus is as customer focused as in the UK. Spend twice as much for half the customer experience. The thing I found with CFmoto is, spend twice as less and as long as it get fixed, its a bonus.
    Cheers & well presented.

Hi Steve, thanks for watching and commenting!
A pom in Western Australia. Longevity may be an issue, apparently the engine may have problems later down the track. KTM's 790 engine has some fault which may be in the CFMOTO. Thanks for your kind words.

@@TheNakedBikers damn, I guessed the wrong state! I saw you riding along the coastline on your left so I thought you'd be heading south. You were actually riding north!
Time will tell. I haven't heard anything yet from owners here in Victoria.
      Cheers!

Yeah! The gearshift assist is pretty poo in the lower gears and the fuelling under 3500 rpm is not good either. I've never had shift assist before but most of the guys on various bikes I ride with say they don't use the assist in the lower gears as it not much good so it appears it's not just a CFMoto quirk. I don't really have any issues getting it into neutral and if you intend to stop as you did in the carpark then just cut the engine and it drops into neutral dead easily, my 1200 GS is just the same. I also found the false neutrals between 4th and 5th, also between 5th and 6th but only when I did a bit of a weak Nancy boy change. I agree a bigger windscreen is needed and the menu system is a bit of a faff until you get used to it. It's a good bike for the money but most things about it are 95%, not much is 100%, you get what you pay for, as you do with many other bikes, there's a few things on my BMW that could do with a little improvement as well. The extra features of the Explore are nice but I'm not seeing them as being worth the extra £3000 that they cost here in the UK, I bought and fitted a Chigee AIO-5 lite which gives me the Car play/Android Auto, the blind spot and rear collision warnings and it's also a 1080p front and rear dashcam/recorder, well worth it at £500 but it does mean you have an extra screen fitted whereas with the Explore it's all contained within the one main screen (no dash cams though). As you say you wouldn't be taking it off road and neither do I; I have a dirt bike for that so the extra road modes and traction control of the Explore are superfluous, the bigger TFT screen would be a bonus though. A nice bike but I won't be getting rid of my GS any time soon🙄

      Hi Mick
      Thanks for watching and commenting!
Very fair comments there, and great to read you're not a GS snob. The Explore is only $1,500 (750 pounds) so worth the dollars in my view. I'm awaiting the dealer principal contact me, currently he's on a winter break, see what he commes back with regarding my feedback. I haven't completely ruled out the bike, but still have my eye on a GT Pro!

@@TheNakedBikers If the difference in price had have been only £750 then I would definitely have gone for the Explore but unfortunately here in the UK it's an extra £3000, good luck with whatever you choose.👍

Yeah, strange why there is such a jump in price in the UK. Thanks, my next purchase is dependent on selling the Rally Pro.

Interesting, although it seems odd why the fuelling would be any different on any of the models.
The dealer principal didn’t reply to my email regarding my feedback. I have taken that as the bike is what it is, produced for a certain price point.
