Tiger 900 GT Pro - 'Silent' Ride Down The Coast
In the UK the royal British legion riders association partner with the Iron Butt UK to create the RBLR1000. It is a good way to earn money for our Veterans and also for people to attempt the Iron Butt challenge on a certificated ride. I have done this twice now. Once in 2023 on a ST1300 Pan european and also in 2024 on a Royal Enfield Himalayan (the 411 cc version). a couple of tips, I bought a 12mm thick gel pad from amazon and also a Sheepskin cover and put them on the bike to aid comfort. Also there are 5 main checkpoints on the routes laid out on the certificated ride. So having a 10-15 min stop at each helped with breaking up the ride, have a coffee and a quick bite to eat helped massively. You have to stay regimented, it is to easy (especially in the latter part of the ride to stop longer). This is a mistake if you do. Taking a puncture repair kit, some basic tools, food, drink and also extra fuel is recommended and also gives a little piece of mind. As you have stated pain killers come in handy, Each time I've managed 700 miles before it started getting uncomfortable being on the bike. As soon as i got to that, popped 2 painkillers and it saw me through to the finish line. However, the MOST IMPORTANT part is to stop if you are feeling too tired. It can always be attempted again. You chose wisely not to push it. For reference my first time took me 20hrs 30 mins and the second time 21hrs 15 mins. Good luck on your next attempt!!
its like committing self harm!!!! why would any on want to???
It's a long time ago now, but I once rode my Kwacker Z1300 ( no fairing ) from Le Mans in France non stop via Calais to Dover, and on to Loch Awe in Scotland, where a bunch of mates were renting a fishing lodge, and that took me around twelve hours on the road, ignoring the ferry crossing time. My bike was Manx registered, and so was my driving licence, which gave me a free pass to break the speed limits wherever possible without risking penalty points. ( Manx licences can only be endorsed in the IOM ) I stopped at Lancaster to buy a bag of fish and chips, and a can of coke, and that was about it. I could have ridden back to Le Mans without any physical discomfort, but when I got back to the IOM I bought a nose fairing as the wind at 100mph was such a pain in the neck.
Hi Anthony Thanks for watching and commenting! That’s some ride and only one break, you must have a butt of iron! I’d never heard of the ‘open’ Manx driving licence before, I want one.
Not sure why anyone would want to do the Iron Butt ride. It certainly wouldn’t be enjoyable or fun. But then I am old. I love a full days ride where we’re checking out new areas, lunch stops, drink stops etc, but the most kms would only be around the 300 km mark. You did well on your attempt though, 1000 kms is a hell of a lot
Hi Jeff Thanks for watching and commenting! The Iron Butt Saddle Sore Challenge is certainly a challenge. I think I’d like to attempt it again and hopefully succeed, but it’s not a major priority. Like you say, a full day casual ride out is definitely more enjoyable!
Nice video and having watched a few of your videos hopefully you've learnt a bit about what you're trying to achieve, l've done similar rides around WA quite a few times. Know exactly where you're going! Check you're intended route each time you stop if you're not sure. You're not riding fast enough, previous videos have shown your speedo indicates about 7kph slower than your actual speed so you need to be sitting on about an indicated 120kph. Over about a 12 - 15 hour ride it's a significant time saving and while you are speeding, you're very unlikely to be pulled over or get a ticket Dress appropriately, you were cold when you started and you would have been cold again towards the end. You can always shed layers if you get hot but you can't get warm if you don't have the layers with you to begin with. Using cruise control will give you the best fuel economy and allows you to have greater focus on watching where you're going. Limit your fuel and drink stops to a maximum of 10 minutes, having a tank bag allows easy access to snacks while you're riding and have a clear plan about what you need to do before each stop. Be single minded and very focused on what you're doing, avoid distractions like being cold, hungry, thirsty, cameras etc cause fatigue and you can always add voice over commentary during your editing if you need to. Hope this helps on your next attempt and best of luck, it's a great achievement if you do succeed.
Hi Peter Thank you very much for watching the Iron Butt series of videos! Your tips and input have not fallen on deaf ears! Much appreciate your sound advice, hopefully I can put it to fruition in the new year.
your butts hurts more at the triumph dealer
@666dualsport You may well be correct, the BIG service I had on my previous GT Pro left my butt feeling very sore!
I have the 2024 model GTPro and live in the wheatbelt east of Perth. In the cold 3-5 degrees I can feel the heat through my dririder winter pants on high but it takes a while to heat up and work it's way through. Hand grips you can feel quicker though they still take a while to work through winter gloves.
Hi Glen Thanks for watching and commenting! Hope you’re enjoying your GT Pro. I’m considering going back to the GT Pro from the Rally Pro. Yeah, the seat does take some time to heat up. My heated grips are phenomenal, quick and hot. Although, I don’t use winter gloves, just my regular summer pair.
1000mi at an average of 42mph? 42x24=1008.
Hi Chad Thanks for watching and commenting! The kph you saw would not be the actual average on the day. I rode for about 4.5 hours on this ride. It takes about one hour to hit the country roads from where I live, so was riding suburbs for that duration. Also, travelling at slower speeds on the outskirts of a couple of country towns as well. The average kph was significantly lower due to these reasons. On the day, I will need to average 88kph, which should easily be achieved considering I’d be on ‘faster’ roads. The maximum speed limits in Western Australia are 110kph. I’m quietly confident I’d get round within 20 hours.
@@TheNakedBikers I see. I was just thinking how fast you need to go to travel 1000mi in 24hrs 🙂 I think if i had to do it, I'd try the 100mph for 10hrs method 😆
@chadkline4268 Wow, that would be going some!
Consider taking a Camel Back Hydration system. Bottles of water are must. I did a 1000km Rally last November around the Yucatan Peninsula, water of critical importance. Consider also, adding additional lights on crash bars (well aligned), a Sat Nav with the route preprogrammed and a Spot X satellite location system, if you have a major accident or bike breakdown. It is fun, but prudence is recommended. Be well, good luck!
Hi HorribleSter Thanks for watching and commenting! Your Yucatan Peninsula trip would have fantastic, I’m sure. Much appreciate your suggestions. Yes, staying hydrated is a must, along with snacking. I’ll have a few bananas with me. Great for slow realising energy.
So much misinformation! If you are making a video for public consumption, please get your facts straight.
Hi Cathy Thanks for watching and commenting! I’d welcome any information you can share where I am misinforming the viewer. No statement was made as a matter of fact, I referred to video which is in the description and offered some of my opinions. I’d like to learn more from you in relation to what you know about the mission at New Norcia.
This would have to be the most uninformed video on New Norcia that I have even seen. Obviously you have done no research at all - most of your commentary was with the boarding schools in the background. These had boarder students that were from farming communities around WA where high schools were not available and boarding schools were the only option. D- rating.
Hi boondiboy Thanks for watching and commenting! You may have heard me say I wasn’t familiar with the layout of the buildings. Do you know where the imprisoned children were kept?
Hi great video can I ask what you are using for audio in your helmet? I'm also in perth
Hi Richard Thanks for watching and commenting! I usually record audio externally to a Zoom F2 field recorder with the mic that it comes with. When I want to record audio directly into the Osmo Action 3, I use the Purple Panda with an inline volume control cable to minimise clipping. Hope this information helps!
from what i ve heard, the explore version has much better fueling
Hi thodoris3790 Thanks for watching and commenting! Interesting, although it seems odd why the fuelling would be any different on any of the models. The dealer principal didn’t reply to my email regarding my feedback. I have taken that as the bike is what it is, produced for a certain price point.
Yeah! The gearshift assist is pretty poo in the lower gears and the fuelling under 3500 rpm is not good either. I've never had shift assist before but most of the guys on various bikes I ride with say they don't use the assist in the lower gears as it not much good so it appears it's not just a CFMoto quirk. I don't really have any issues getting it into neutral and if you intend to stop as you did in the carpark then just cut the engine and it drops into neutral dead easily, my 1200 GS is just the same. I also found the false neutrals between 4th and 5th, also between 5th and 6th but only when I did a bit of a weak Nancy boy change. I agree a bigger windscreen is needed and the menu system is a bit of a faff until you get used to it. It's a good bike for the money but most things about it are 95%, not much is 100%, you get what you pay for, as you do with many other bikes, there's a few things on my BMW that could do with a little improvement as well. The extra features of the Explore are nice but I'm not seeing them as being worth the extra £3000 that they cost here in the UK, I bought and fitted a Chigee AIO-5 lite which gives me the Car play/Android Auto, the blind spot and rear collision warnings and it's also a 1080p front and rear dashcam/recorder, well worth it at £500 but it does mean you have an extra screen fitted whereas with the Explore it's all contained within the one main screen (no dash cams though). As you say you wouldn't be taking it off road and neither do I; I have a dirt bike for that so the extra road modes and traction control of the Explore are superfluous, the bigger TFT screen would be a bonus though. A nice bike but I won't be getting rid of my GS any time soon🙄
Hi Mick Thanks for watching and commenting! Very fair comments there, and great to read you're not a GS snob. The Explore is only $1,500 (750 pounds) so worth the dollars in my view. I'm awaiting the dealer principal contact me, currently he's on a winter break, see what he commes back with regarding my feedback. I haven't completely ruled out the bike, but still have my eye on a GT Pro!
@@TheNakedBikers If the difference in price had have been only £750 then I would definitely have gone for the Explore but unfortunately here in the UK it's an extra £3000, good luck with whatever you choose.👍
@mickemmett6828 Yeah, strange why there is such a jump in price in the UK. Thanks, my next purchase is dependent on selling the Rally Pro.
I rented the 800mt to ride from Santiago to Ushuia. The suspension is extremely weak, perhaps downright cheap. The lack of compression or rebound combined with weak internals is a real liability. I bent the front rim in three places and the rear rim in two places on two small pot holes; both while on pavement with pillion at less than 40 KPH. The tires had high air pressure to help the sidewalls from collapsing to the rims. When riding solo at pace i was able to skip over small obstacles. We hobbled into beautiful Ushuaia by constantly using an air compressor. The plastic switch for the cruise control fell apart after the second day. The engine was the highlight. The transmission and quick shifter worked well. The ergonomics were the highlight. This moto is for a gentle rider (without a passenger) that wants a low entry price and can afford the steep depreciation in value. Caveat emptor.
Hi Lincoln Thanks for watching and commenting! Gee, I hope the issues were down to possible neglect upon the people hiring the bike and the hire firm, they'd get some stick. Yet, you had a good experience with the transmission and quickshiter. I hope there isn't quality control issues with the bike. The suspension seemed fine to me, so much so I didn't even mention it. Interestingly, the used market for motorbikes and cars is very strong here in Western Australia, maybe even Australia? So, depreciation may not be a thing, only time will tell.
@@TheNakedBikers I had no problems with the rental agency or initial condition. Fun bike if kept within its limitations. 2 up exceeds the suspension’s limitations.
@lincolnandrews1798 Okay, that’s good to know. My Tiger Rally Pro is great carrying a passenger and there are zero suspension issues.
picking mine up in two weeks. ( I can't find good hard saddle bags )
Hi @dcijams Thanks for watching and commenting! Hope you love the bike, exciting times! Aren't there CFMOTO hard panniers available?
A pom in Queensland? I wonder why? The weather in winter is better than a summers day in the UK! Great review of the CFmoto 800MT Touring. If i was in the market for an inexpensive touring bike, it would be the explore. It just has so many features. However, you get what you pay for. Triumph in Aus is as customer focused as in the UK. Spend twice as much for half the customer experience. The thing I found with CFmoto is, spend twice as less and as long as it get fixed, its a bonus. Cheers & well presented.
Hi Steve, thanks for watching and commenting! A pom in Western Australia. Longevity may be an issue, apparently the engine may have problems later down the track. KTM's 790 engine has some fault which may be in the CFMOTO. Thanks for your kind words.
@@TheNakedBikers damn, I guessed the wrong state! I saw you riding along the coastline on your left so I thought you'd be heading south. You were actually riding north! Time will tell. I haven't heard anything yet from owners here in Victoria. Cheers!
Does that make you a pom in VIC? Ride safe!
@@TheNakedBikers 🤣🤣
Very nice video in a lovely part of the world. Have been several times including trips to Margaret River and would love to go back. I needed to give my Tiger 850 Sport a 20k service and was quoted the price of 1’175 Swiss francs, which is much higher than the Aussie price given the exchange rate. I was in Spain on holiday this last week so I went to a Triumph dealer and got the same service for €430, or just a bit more than 400 Swiss francs. It’s amazing how you can get ripped off in some places.
Hi Stephen Thanks for watching and commenting! Switzerland is on my bucket list. Although, I have heard it is a very expensive place! Frankly, a service cost should equate the same the world over.
Oh boy am I missing Perth now!
Hi Will Thanks for watching and commenting! Aye, our climate here is very good. Even winter isn’t exactly winter!
I have a CEATEC battery charger on mine. It is currently four years old battery recently. Had it checked at battery world. It is in top condition. He told me keep doing what you’re doing he said
Hi Mason Thanks for watching and commenting! What brand of battery is it? Four years and still going is phenomenal. I’ve read that a battery should have a cycle charge every three months to keep it maintained. I do have a battery charger that trickle charges. Maybe I should have done that alternative evenings. Although, this battery of mine is completely shot. It has failed again to start the Tiger today coming home from work. Luckily, I live close to work and my wife brought the new battery I have purchased.
I have a “Optimate” Battery tender which can be left connected all the time when in storage. I leave it connected to my son’s bike as he rarely comes here to take it out for a spin and have had no problems. Is your bike showing a charge when running? Should be slightly higher than the battery’s normal reading, not sure of the exact amount, possibly 12.8V. Should you opt for a battery tender, be aware that lithium batteries require a different one to the lead acid type ones.
@jeffarnie Hi Jeff Thanks for watching and commenting! The battery after fully charge drops to 12.4v, it’s buggered! It would need constantly charging to function. It failed again today. Started in the morning, went to work, wouldn’t start on the return home. I’ve had a lithium battery before, which I highly rate, and my charger can charge different types of batteries, which is great! I’m looking to sell my Rally Pro in the near future to be replaced with the GT Pro. Didn’t want the expense of buying a lithium battery and not having the benefit of it. The new AGM will do.
@@TheNakedBikers Are you looking at the new GT Pro or sticking with the model you previously had? I had a 2021 GT Pro fully fitted out for travelling lined up and the seller sold it from under me to a local. Now I keep looking at Tiger 900’s or The BMW 750/850 models. The new model Tiger is appealing with the vibration fixes etc although I do remember you saying you didn’t notice the vibes on your old one.
@jeffarnie It’s annoying when people don’t do the right thing when selling items. Although, I have test ridden the new 2024 Tiger GT Pro and it feels vastly improved compared to the one I had. It rides so smoothly, the shift assist is much better and the cruise control is improved too. You’re right Jeff, I didn’t think my previous GT Pro had any issues with vibrations. My current Rally Pro does, so much so I put bar end weights on to reduce the vibes, which they did. If you haven’t yet, go and test ride the new GT Pro, it’s awesome!
Thanks for the video. I’ve just ordered the Tiger 900 GT Pro and wondered if the Puig windscreen makes a difference with wind reduction?
Hi Damo Thanks for watching and commenting! This video hopefully answers your question. 😉 Puig 20375W Touring Windshield Review ua-cam.com/video/Fef4yTTvakg/v-deo.html
So how does it do at speed? I've found a LOT of lav mics, which were never intended to in a helmet an inch from our pie holes, to sound awful once the wind noise pics up. It's as if the air pressure induces distortion rather than there being too much gain.
Hi thesoutherndistance Thanks for watching and commenting! It works well at around 90 kmph, good enough for me. With it being 32- bit float it can be edited in relation to distortion. Although, I have experienced some clipping on the odd occasion.
Of course my dealer didn’t have the replacement so my micky mouse fix cracked the bottom of the dimple and eventually blew it out.
Gee Bob, that’s sounds like a nightmare!
I put one on my GT Pro and it seems a moderate improvement over stock. My one complaint is that it’s not low enough for me to see over off road. I lost one of the screws on the original and one thing led to another and the stock self destructed. The Puig was more economical to replace.
Hi Bob Thanks for watching and commenting! Even though I have the Rally Pro, I don’t go off road for the screen to be any potential issue for visibility. How did the stock windshield self destruct after only losing one screw?
the sprocket its because of the way the gearing setup on these bikes and it was normal, wonder if you have the same noise that comes in at about 80 ks and above?
Hi Greg Thanks for watching and commenting!
nice video, I'm happy with the factory windshield as I'm 5 foot 9 tall which gives good protection from wind and bugs. Although I get a lot of noise and was not sure if it was the scene or the front end of the Triumph 900. So I took the bike to my mechanic, and he went for a test ride and came back and said the noise was coming form
I’d say yes, I do hear some similar sounding noise but nothing overly loud. If I pass near road works with concrete walls, which there are several here currently, I hear something which could be the sprocket and chain. I hear the same from my wife’s Yamaha MT07 when riding out with her. So, seems very normal.
OK , I'm just going through something similar, I don't want to release my complaint until their mechanics (instructed by T Australia) have a look at it Mine is rotors on a ST1200, 2023...
Hi aussiewantok Thanks for watching and commenting! Hopefully, the mechanics and Triumph Australia show due diligence and offer assistance. Keep us posted!
Would you buy Triumph again?
Hi Jim Thanks for watching and commenting! That’s a great question! Triumph’s handling of my complaint was quite appalling. They have finally settled the issue. I suppose your question raises another question, can Triumph customer service be trusted in the future? Triumph produce a fantastic motorcycle in the Tiger range. In all honesty, I probably would buy a Triumph again.
@@TheNakedBikers Thanks for the Answer!
@jimdye4424 No worries Jim. Triumph make excellent motorcycles, they need to provide excellent customer service!
I can never understand why manufacturers do this as it just gets them a bad name. It's not always about the money it's the principle for myself. I had an issue with a main Honda car dealer and lucky for me I had done everything by email. I was about to go legal but spoke to the MD and it was all sorted the next day. Stay safe mate. Best regards from old South Wales in the cold and wet UK 😂😂
Hi Richard Thanks for watching and commenting! Exactly, why would a manufacturer squabble? Customer service is very important, some companies seem to forget this. Good to hear Honda eventually came good for you. Yes, ride safe, the British summer isn’t far off…enjoy the day! 😂😉
Great video 'ow do!! 😂
Hi 2wheeledwillie Thanks for watching and commenting! ‘Ow do to you too. 😉
Peter Stevens Strokers do Triumph in Australia. Enough said
Thanks for the comment.
Think this show how bad some are so get to the root if the dealer dont cooperate and mail the office abroud or some it helps in 95% of the time the local delaler don't care since they sell tons of bikes and only count money and won't have any problems, i did that with some simple as my robot vacum cleaner it broke a weel and the delar did not even reply for my mails so i send it to the main office in Taiwan and they send me a new cleaner without any cost and they say the should talk to the locale handler lol so it help, glad it went good for you too !! Sheers 🍗🍗
Hi Ex Thanks for watching and commenting! Good to hear your consumer issue was resolved. Yep, if the initial place of purchase doesn’t assist, go higher. However, in my case the dealer suggested it was Triumph Australia that would need to accept my complaint. I even wrote an email to Triumph UK and heard nothing. The whole experience soured my relationship with the brand. At least the brand manager intervened!
Nice one, Good to see it's sorted eventually.
Hi Jim Thanks for watching and commenting! Yeah, I suppose perseverance pays off. Although, Triumph should have sorted it out months ago. Better late than never.
I purchased a new vehicle and I got a Terms of Warranty contract with the vehicle. About 6 or 7 pages in detail. I had a mechanical failure. The manufacturer and dealer refused to repair it under warranty. So I paid an independent shop to repair it. I then brought the dealer to court, acting as my own lawyer. And got a judgement for breach of warranty. I just got a check in the mail last month. The dealer paid me for my cost of repair.
Hi @skymningforelsket1302 Thanks for watching and commenting! That’s great to hear, although a pain in the ass having to go that far! What is it with manufacturers and dealers?
@@TheNakedBikers Money, of course. I guess the laws are different where you are, but in the Western World, I think every country will have a Terms of Warranty in writing required on new vehicles. Standard. Just get a copy of the legalese of the standard new vehicle warranty for your bike. Read it, and if Cruise is on there, just bring 'em to small claims court (under $4500 cases in the USA. Costs $10 to bring the case). I don't know, BUT I DON'T THINK, they can legally "presume" the prior owner "did something" to the wire. Those warranties are TRANSFERABLE on new vehicles, and I think the "presumption" it's a failure is on your side as the 2nd owner.
@@skymningforelsket1302 😆 Triumph Australia seem to have a very 'standard' warranty which they don't adhere to. Your comments have actually spurred me on to contact Triumph Australia to ask them again to refund me the monies I paid for the repair, which was not a lot, to be honest. Alternatively, they are to reply to my email confirming that they wish to contest my warranty claim via the small claims court. I have hinted to them that the administrative costs alone would be more than the relatively insignificant repair costs I seek a refund for. It is now a matter of principal!
Ey up Len…. 👍… first of all, can I just say fantastic video? Really good to see you in the garage😂😂😂 we want more Garage talks😂😂😂 Now regarding the microphone set up. Your set up is brilliant and the sound quality is also brilliant. But I can’t help but thinking there are too many wires. Thought the money you paid for the zoom field recorder you could have the DJI wireless microphone Two…….. maybe you already had the field recorder? I know you did mention the DJI mic2 in this video and that is the set up that I would be going for. I would plug your pand lav mic Into the DJI mic And use the internal record recording, which I do believe is 32 float And that will work perfectly as you’re back up should you get any dropouts (Very unlikely you will get dropout with the DJI mic2) So that’s my two peneth….. Leonard really good to see you in the garage. Stay safe.
Hi Rob Thanks for watching, commenting and for your kind comments! You are most certainly correct on the DJI Mic 2. I do have that mic and it would be the perfect wired setup for the DJI Osmo Action 3. Shush, I have a planned video coming out on that one in the near future. 😉 I wouldn’t usually utilise both mics, the Zoom and the Purple Panda together. Maybe it comes across that way? My intention was to provide two options of a wired setup. One for the audio going straight to the camera and one for a totally separate external recording. If you meant too many wires regarding adapters and the gain controller, then I suppose so, but they are required for that particular set up. Stay tuned, more garage action is planned! 👍🏻
Very informative video, thanks for the review. I have one question, this f2 has an output jack for monitoring. I was wondering if this connect to the action camera, still the anti clipping (auto gain etc) feature works for the output as well? I like the idea of having externally record to the device but like to not hassle with post editing always, that is why I am asking.
Hi gokhand3467 Thanks for watching and commenting! The output jack is for headphones, you can control the output volume level with the F2 BT version, not sure about the regular F2 version. Hope this answers your question. If you haven’t already done so, subscribing to the channel would be most welcome! I have a video coming out shortly about wired set ups for motovlogging. Keep an eye out for that one.
@@TheNakedBikers thanks for your answer. I actually trying to understand if I can use the output headphone section to use directly to input into the action camera. What I understand is their manual they said it is just for play after the recording. This part that I would like to understand. If simultaneously while recording I can use this connection to output the action camera that I am trying to understand if I can able to use anti-clipping functionality. I also trying to maximize the quality of wiring on my helmet. Maybe you can check my video about shortening the lav mic for wiring video (ua-cam.com/video/xH4jYE8I9cg/v-deo.html). Btw I subscribed to your channel.
Hi Thank you for subscribing, very much appreciated! In short, I don’t have the technical knowledge or understanding to provide a definitive answer. As far as I understand, you’d like to use both the input and output at the same time and be able to utilise the auto clipping via the output to the action camera. I doubt that it would be possible because the output is just an output for monitoring the sound level via headphones. My apologies if I have misunderstood. Please let me know if I have. I watched your shortening of the lav mic video, an interesting set up. I tuck any excess wire into my jacket.
@@TheNakedBikers thanks for the quick reply, yes you understood correctly. I understand if I have time I will buy and try but it seems it would not work for my intentions. About the lav mic shortening, the idea is to squeeze 2 lav mic into the helmet. I would like to share a test recently I achieved and tested up to 50 miles, and it perfectly records my voice and also the voice of the communicator through a comms speaker recorded by my second lav mic. In this way, I would record group rides. I am recording both at the same time without post-editing. Maybe I will share later the final setup as a video with sound examples. But still, searching auto gain controlled device to attach to avoid unexpected clippings for clear audio for the future.
Hi It can get very technical and very expensive quickly this motovlogging. 😉 I have the Cardo Edge and use the Cardo Connect app where I’m able to record the other rider or riders by a recent update functionality. It completely negates any additional cables. Hit the link to watch the video. ua-cam.com/video/Maq7EhMzidY/v-deo.htmlsi=fh4frXoGNhxREuWq Would you like me to test your experimental idea on the F2 recorder? If so, please inform me what leads you want using and how, thanks.
As much as I love the look of the Z900 RS and would definitely enjoy a ride, from reports I've watched and read, it's more of a quick ride type bike. I think you might find it a tad uncomfortable for a full day ride. Should you go for the new 900 GT Pro, I would be interested to see if the vibes have disappeared. "Decisions, decisions". I know that feeling all too well.
Hi Jeff Thanks for watching and commenting! Yeah, that’s what my mate suggested, he said the Kawasaki wouldn’t be suitable for longer rides. I’m awaiting a demo Tiger 900 GT Pro being delivered at the local dealers to test ride. There’ll be a test ride video when that happens!
How the f..k did this vid get 1.8k views when it was just a guy talking with a camera facing him
Hi Blue Stinger Thanks for watching and commenting! Great question and I don't know the answer to it.
What a waste of time. Terrible example.
Hi 01HaydenFan Thanks for watching and commenting! I suppose the camera doesn't capture how close the car was to me or to my wife.
Don't talk shit about any one else until you stop waiving your hand around while you talk. Everyone around you is probably wondering what in the F you are trying to signal. One of these you'll waive that hand and somebody will put out in front of you thinking you waived them to go.
Hi Marcus Linton Thanks for watching and commenting! Hand signals, are they a thing? I use my indicators to indicate my intention to change direction. The drivers here would need the sound of the horn to draw them out of any inattentive stupor they were currently in for them to recognise any hand signals.
there are three ways people see motorcyclists... first and most common is as another motorist, one that would get hurt if hit so given plenty of space and allowed to have a space cushion. Second is a target to be bullied. We will come off worse so anything anyone else does, we have to avoid or we get hurt. Third is just ignored entirely.. "I am going to pull out, hope you don't hit me!" if they even realize we are there.
Hi Adam Thanks for watching and commenting! Spot on! Although there is a fourth way, those drivers who are also motorcyclists. ;)
come on, stop beeping the expletives!
Hi reklaw Thanks for watching and commenting! Sorry to disappoint, but I think the regulators at UA-cam may have something to say if it was unedited.
Seems to be a cultural thing, australia, england. The former, to me, the worst street morons ever. Any romanian, Serbian, Naples, Paris traffic, even Budapest preferred.
Hi Giancarlo Thanks for watching and commenting! Yeah, they're pretty bad here. I haven't driven or ridden in Europe apart from the UK. No doubt I'll experience other incompetent drivers when travelling overseas in the future!
While on Principle I have fought many a battle, sometimes it just aint worth it for the time and mental pain you go through; maybe get a price on repairing the fault which may be more cost effective to pay for instead of spending a lot of time fighting it (assuming the cost is sensible of course). I've been riding on the road (based in Sydney) since 1977, back then Triumphs were called "oil leaks", I've never owned one and haven't been a person that rubbishes them, but their reputation from back then til now is probably why I haven't owned one. When I updated my bike in 2015 I wanted less gadgetry than what was becoming the norm, and shaft drive (broken chains 600ks from home are a pain), the bike being primarily used for long distance riding, and I wanted a dual sport for tarmac and occasional dirt/gravel roads. I resigned myself to probably ending up with a BMW GS and researched parts and service costs, as the engine and gearbox configuration is what it is, to replace a clutch everything behind the back of the engine needs to come off to change it, parts and labour (special tools needed) was then $2,600 including about 8+ hours labour. I bought a Honda VFR1200X Crosstourer and aside from tyres/servicing and rego have not had to repair it, and at 3 years old with OEM Honda luggage I paid 10K.
Hi Greg Thanks for watching and commenting! The issue was fixed for a nominal charge, but I’m a bit of a stickler for principles. Writing a few emails is something I’m prepared to do. I like new technology, but can be expensive to fix, BMW being a manufacturer who loves pulling customers pants down! The Honda VFR is a lovely machine, don’t see enough of them on the road. You chose wisely. I like the Africa Twin and Suzuki Vstrom, one high tech and one low tech. That decision will be way further down the road. Although the Kawasaki Z900RS is a lovely bike too, that would be a move away from the adventure style bike for me though. Ride safe, thanks again!
@@TheNakedBikers yeah thanks, the X Tourer is one of the most underrated bikes I think personally for long distance combined with dirt/gravel roads, and I just don't trust chains anymore. If you don't know him check out Big Bike Adventures. His early videos are on an X Tourer that a truck eventually reversed over while parked and it was a write off, he then went to an Africa Twin and recently had a blind corner sort-of head/side on with a ute on a dirt road and it was written off also, while he had the AT he actually bought another X Tourer, and after the AT went a Husqvarna 701 for more serious offroad. I communicate with him a bit and he always speaks of the AT being more off road oriented than on-road.
I'm not familiar with Big Bike Adventures, will tune in, sounds like he's had some bad luck. Yes, the Africa Twin is probably more for off roading. The 2024 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT looks pretty good, although a fair bit of tech on it, a fair hefty price tag too! I'm a way off yet from changing the Tiger.
Some of us on waiting list for speed 400, this type of thing make us have second thoughts
Hi Steve Thanks for watching and commenting! Food for thought!
Just pathetic
Hi rowdyrodb Thanks for watching and commenting! Not sure which way to take that. I'll play it safe and assume you're on my side. ;)
DO NOT WORRY B.M.W. ARE EVEN WORSE ALL THESE BIKE MAKERS AND CAR MAKERS FOR THAT MATTER DON'T GIVE A SHIT TIMES NEED TO CHANGE .. BEST OF ALL ARE THE JAPS AT LEAST THEY SEEM TO CARE SO FROM THIS POINT ON I WILL ONLY BY JAP BIKES THE REST CAN JUST GO TO HELL AND BACK !!!!!!!
Hi Allan Thanks for watching and commenting! I haven’t heard anyone I know say they’ve had issues with a Japanese manufacturer. I may be making the switch next time!
Put yourself in the dealership's shoes. Your bike was bought used (privately I believe), can you say with 100% confidence that it hasn't been accident damaged & repaired, flood damaged, stolen/recovered or had any one of a number of DIY jobs done that could have pulled the wires from the switchgear? I'm not suggesting that it has but you are asking the dealership to fix it as a warranty issue without being able to provide them all the confidence they need to get the manufacturer to pay them for their time. No two issues are the same but "manufacturing defects" that your warranty covers would, in most cases, become apparent very soon after the machine starts it's life on the road. Understand that the dealership is not the manufacturer, help them to help you rather than just being another whiny prick trying to use UA-cam for leverage they don't have.
Hi Keith...again. I had the vehicle REVS checked here in Australia. The check is for any outstanding finance, if it was stolen, or if it was written off. The guy I bought the Tiger from was a respectable person, he also didn't come across as a DIYer. I'm not sure what confidence they would need to check the wiring and see that it had been disconnected. The Tiger certainly didn't need any diagnostics run on it, like what the worshop advised. The repair was minor and the costing was minimal, surely within Triumph's ability to provide a satisafctory outcome for the customer. As for being 'a whiny prick trying to use UA-cam for leverage', my channel is small, I'm no influencer! The dealership had an opportunity to help me, which they did to a point, but not to a satisfactory outcome. Of course I'm then going to take the issue up with Triumph, the Tiger had warranty.
You purchased the bike in good faith, if it was faulty at purchase then your gripe is with the seller, if you wanted a perfect bike, should have purchased a new one.
That's not how that works. If the warranty is transferrable then he's covered. It's up to Triumph to PROVE that something was done to void that warranty. "It could have been outside influence" isn't enough. Where's the proof? Even voiding a warranty in the US requires proof and not "coulda beens"
Hi Milkybar Thanks for watching and commenting! Nah, can't say I'm on the same page. The Tiger was under two years old when I purchased it from the seller, he had done under 4,000 klms and in excellent condition. No gripes with the seller. The bike was still within its warranty period. My gripe is firmly on Triumph's doorstep!
Hi breedlofam Thanks for watching and commenting! Absolutely bang on the money!
How is the customer service you're getting from the guy that you bought the bike from?
Hi Keith Thanks for watching and commenting! He was smashing to deal with, no issues, lovely chap. I did ask him about the cruise control and he said it did work. I've no reason to disbelieve him. My opinion may have been different if he was a nightmare, but he wasn't. Triumph should not be making a nightmare out of this warranty claim.
