Hey guys! The copyright Gods struck again so I had no choice to put the text there. It was either that or not posting it at all. I hope it doesn't inhibit visibility too much. :)
This man is like this for 2 hours plus on every gig. He was the standup master. Record breaking and a national treasure. I saw him live twice and he was phenomenal.
Lee is one of my all-time favourite comedians. I'm still sad that he retired, but I totally get it. He had a young family to think of, and going on tours all the time took him away from them and also took a toll on his mental health (and his wife's) I think. And yeah, he was always a high-energy performer, he's as much a physical performer as a comedian with his facial expressions and the actions he did on stage 😂
Such a lovely guy. I saw him live in Glasgow. The show was 100 minutes long. He spent two hours, immediately after his bows, taking photos and signing autographs...generally chatting to people. His stage crew tried to "save" him, til he insisted he wanted to. I pointed out that he had spent longer meeting fans than doing the show, to which his face turned genuinely concerned and he asked me: "oh, yeah. Do you think I should have done longer?" Absolute class act.
So pleased you’ve found Lee Evans. A manic high energy comedian right up there with the greats in my opinion.as you mentioned something of Jim Carey about him but also I think of Norman Wisdom a great British comic from a more than a few years back
Lee and Jim Carrey are of a similar age. Hard to say if they influenced one another, if at all. However, there was a comedian called Norman Wisdom in the UK (similar style, much older), who Lee 'may' have gained inspiration from. Hard to say really. I personally think comedy at this level is a unique skill. There is only so much you can observe and emulate, and the rest is down to the comedian. Respect to Norman, Jim, and Lee, in no particular order. All true greats of the art.
Lee has hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) so needs to change his suit several times per performance. Also a talented actor, appearing in Mouse Hunt and the Fifth Element
I wouldn’t think Jim Carrey would have been an influence as they’re more or less the same age and started at the same time. If anyone I’d probably say Norman Wisdom is more likely though I don’t know if he really had any influences as such. Lee has always been the class clown from a very early age. He is one of our best and he is the only comedian that’s made me laugh until I couldn’t breathe. Aside from the jokes, his physical comedy and various voices made him unique. No one can touch him! Now sadly retired at the age 60 😊
Maybe Robin Willilams but I'm not sure how much. Robin's TV specials of the late '70s and early '80s were probably not broadcast or widespread as Lee started his stage forays. Maybe Steve Martin (who started in the late '60s)? I suspect Lee modeled himself out of NO ONE ELSE - he's simple too quick-thinking, too physical, too 'action'.
@@MeganRuth An easy assumption to make because of his energy 😅 you say you haven’t seen his comedy before but did you recognise him from the films he did? There’s Something About Mary, Mousehunt, The Fifth Element and The Medallion which he did with Jackie Chan, mostly all in the late 90’s 🤓
He was hilarious enough to be cast in an outstanding crime-mystery comedy FUNNY BONES (1995) with Oliver Platt, Ruta Lee, Jerry Lewis in a tale that includes a dozen of Brit Vaudeville's most famous antics. Great film, too - most folks forget there's been a murder, and we don't know why, or by whom - but we gradually find those pieces.
Here's a favorite skit of his from FUNNY BONES, a skit called "Radio Boy". The video quality is pretty dismal but the skit is worth it. ua-cam.com/video/Ys4w-9Y-p-U/v-deo.html
I saw HIM IN a large club performance - far too large for a single comedian - but within a few moments, it was obvious, NO, he had all of us laughing. In his 1997, he's one half of two inheriting brothers of their father's ancient business and mansion: MOUSE HUNT. Great fun.
Surely you must have seen him in *"The Fifth Element"* with Bruce Willis. Apparently (now I'm not 100% sure, it's true) but apparently. So I've been told. Bruce was at one of Lee's shows, whilst staying in London, filming the movie. He loved the show so much, he went back stage to meet Lee and invited him, there and then, to be in the movie.
I know it's a bit pathetic yet I have to say, Lee Evans saved me from a lot of shit growing up. I adored him, copied his mannerisms and learned parts of his routine. The noises, accents and physical actions. I grew up tough and had to learn to watch my back. After leaving a rough area and a horrible part of life behind, my instinct of putting on a facade of toughness and preparedness turned into using Lee Evans (and Fawlty Towers) as a tool of making bullies leave me alone. I was that dude who people started to leave alone simply because I made them laugh. Even now, he's very much integrated into how my friends see me and enjoy my company. One big regret I have is that I was always too young to watch him live. Now I am older, I'm glad I can't. From reading his Biography and seeing his relationship with performance, I'm glad he is doing what is best for him and wish him all the best. As someone who used to do camera work and theatre, and stopped because of how it affected me, I can only commend him for doing it in the first place
No idea why you’ve put that crap across the screen…. Many reactors don’t bother and it ruins my experience watching it. Same for editing swearing, people swear all the time…

He's in movies. There's something about Mary, Fifth element.
But regarded as one of the Top 10 British Comedians of all time.
His RADIO BOY staging and performance is remarkable, and his work in MOUSE HUNT, too. That FIFTH ELEMENT - gag - what a waste of him!
Theres something abour Mary, Fifth Element and Mouse hunt to name a few films lee has appeared in.
He's also an actor. You've probably seen him in movies n not realised it's him

oh I thought he was younger! He certainly looks younger. But this might be an older video aha yes I can definitely see that he was the class clown! 😂

Norman Wisdom was definitely a big influence.
@@MattsDrumCovers I have to admit I haven't seen any of those films! 😅
Easily one of our best comedians, glad you gave him a look.
He was the movie Something about Mary.
The laser on your wall made me check on my phone screen several times. I thought I got dead pixels 😂

This Lee Evans is bloody hilarious 😂 here! I enjoyed the audience reactions here & Happy Wednesday, Megan. ❤
From that film, a crappy video of one of his outstanding skits: Radio Boy. ua-cam.com/video/Ys4w-9Y-p-U/v-deo.html
He was an actor in a couple of big hollywood films - Fifth Element being the most welll known. But mainly as a stand up comic in UK
I'd say There's Something About Mary would be the biggest film as it's less niche and he certainly had a bigger role.

LEE STARRED IN Something ABOUT MARY WITH CAMERON WHATS HER NAME. DIAZ THATS IT LOL
If you want to end up hurting through laughing, watch his video called "The Wife", it's just too funny. I promise you WILL almost stop breathing.
Did you ever see the movie fifth element, he played the singers security guard...

Try Tim vine comedian joke a motive he hold the world's record for joke telling in 1hour
Please just take this as a taster Megan. Massive big routines out there.
Lee Evans has a lot more
You should check out his films!! He was around before Jim Carey!! so other way round!! x

Just wait until he gets to playing piano and singing,
Should checkout his XL tour
Lee is 60 yrs old
No way!!!!
One of the funniest men ever. Have you watched Peter Kay yet ?
He is very funny one uk’s best ever stand up comedian’s but unfortunately he is now retired and has been for 10 years
It's actually very Norman Wisdom - like your Jerry Lewis.
lol Jim Carey wishes he was Lee Evans
Waaaay before Jim Carey
He was around before jim Carrey
Great reaction but please do the police sirens by lee evens sketch it's so funny
Norman Wisdom not Jim Carrey.
Think jim Carey influenced by Lee Evans
Jim Carrey being one of Lee Evan’s inspirations. Oof 🤦🏻
Please don't compare him with Jim Carey, Lea is so much more superior than Jim
Oh dear cant think of another word let's swear attention seeker! if he did not swear so much he would be a poor mans Norman Wisdom
No idea why you’ve put that crap across the screen…. Many reactors don’t bother and it ruins my experience watching it. Same for editing swearing, people swear all the time…
Hello! As I already stated in the top comment, it's because of copyright. The video would be blocked otherwise.
@@MeganRuthno idea why that would be an issue, lots of other
React to him and show it with the distraction
@@mufuliramark the production company must have become more strict with copyright.
Not for me. A vastly overrated one-trick pony.
He was around before Carey.
Lee been around longer than jim cairry.
You are abit late to the game...hes been retired for years now
