  • This is a basic run-down on how to program your Weathermatic SL800 Smartline controller. This generally applies to all newer controllers. This is a popular indoor controller we use for our clients. It comes as a 4-zone base controller, and can be upgraded to 8 zones.

I was told to bypass a zone wit this controller to set the run time to “0”. My controller isn’t able to select 0, it goes from 1 to off. Any idea how to bypass a zone?

We've had a Smartline SL800 for about 13 years. Recently I noticed the Manual Zone and Manual Test no longer works. For example, I can set the Manual Test to run through the zones for 20 seconds. When I turn the dial to Run, the display shows the system going through the zones (4 zones) but the sprinklers aren't activating. The same thing happens with the Manual Zone feature. There is no FAULT showing up on the display. Normal programmed watering is occurring. Any ideas I could pursue before calling a professional to come out?

Make sure you're selecting the correct program (A, B or C) to manually run, and that there are programmed run and start times for that program. If that doesn't work, 13 years is quite a long time for this controller! We don't use these controllers anymore, we currently install only Hunter Hydrawise WiFi controllers. Good luck!

My Program D says "used" and I dont know how to clear that off. Also I have a fault that keeps flashing and not sure how to clear that....any advice?

Program D typically is not used, it doesn't affect the function of the controller, so just use programs a, b and c. A fault typically is because you have a bad solenoid. You can go through the advanced settings and check each zone to see which one is faulty. Then replace the solenoid on that zone valve.

@@jonkruyswyk2137 my man! Thanks so much. I think I finally got it. Last year I tried to set it and I was able to do it but somehow I had it going 24 hours a day. And we went out of town one time and they ran for about 48 hours straight I guess

How can you reset that particular clock?

I believe there is a reset button on the back or in the battery compartment that you can use a paperclip to reset.
