  • Here's a video of the AMGA rock rescue drill, this is just one way to accomplish all the skills they want you to perform during the drill but I've had this for a long time and thought it could maybe help some folks with preparation.

Awesome video man, this was the perfect video to watch after doing all of the online learning before the RGC. They really should include something like this in the online learning so we can watch the drill from start to finish. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Thanks. That was a great demo. It's cool that they have you condense so many skills into the one drill. Climb on!

Sick vid brah, the only thing I saw that is different now is during the counter balance rap you need to transfer the friction hitch on the load line to your harness before coming off the clove even if you tested it. Might be more but that caught my eye. Again thanks for the vid! 🤘

Not allowed to ditch un-injured clients rope anymore either have to hold onto it for duration of drill.

Question… ive been using 5mm for my 3 piece anchors for ever now… should i be using 6/7? Haha you mention earlier on about 6 being for rescue?

5mm power cord is OK, but might be a little stiff for klemheists. Regular 5mm doesn't have the necessary strength

@@johngmudd no but ive been using them for anchors? I use a sterling auto block for raps. So is 5mm good for trad anchors?

As far as I know it’s up to the instructor as to whether it’s rap first or haul first

Could you have friction hitch both line at once?

I just cannot like this video. If the victims were bleeding, they would bleed out before you get that all set up.
I do tree work, and this is exactly why we never wait for "Certified Rescue." Takes way too long with all the BS they do before they even get in the tree. Then it's 10 more minutes of screwing around with complicated systems before they get the victim down. I can get an injured worker out of a tree within minutes and I'm kinda stupid.

Being hundreds of feet up on a remote rock face, multiple rope lengths from the ground, is not the same as being less than a rope length away from the ground in a tree in an urban setting. They both demand respect, but simply put I have never heard of someone needing to be rescued from a tree with a helicopter. The rock terrain is just too remote and complicated to access, that’s why helicopters are commonly used for rescues. Also, this video is about a drill/exam meant to showcase the skills and knowledge a guide should have, so I think most people would agree that it should be complicated.
