So glad you showed loosening the hook in the soft bait. I do it all the time and it really helps with hookups. If anybody's been reading my comments they know I have to fish sitting down in special boat seat so I can't set the hook like you can standing on a boat deck or on the shore. I use a finer wire hook, loosen the hook in the bait like your show, and use some of the softest bait I can find. They don't hold up like some of the other less soft baits but they work for me because of my disability. Keep on fishing and keep it Realistic! 🎣👩🦳
Awesome choice man!!! I switched over to all 13 rods and reels and have never been happier, wait until you get 100% comfortable with it and turn the brakes to zero and just let the lures fly!!!
Not a bad looking reel. I sometimes shy away from brands that aren't quite as popular, but you can be pleasantly surprised at times. I do have a few brands that aren't as widely known because they've served me well. It all depends on the person and that's why I *hate* when people judge others based on what brand they use. Props to you for always being willing to try new things instead of being set in your ways.
I very rarely watch any other fishing show but I saw one that really caught my eye the other day. It showed using a straight hook instead of the wide gap, offset worm fishing hooks that most people use. He was a guide and made 2 points the first was when you put a straight shank hook in a worm the point is angled up out of the worm instead of straight forward along the worm making it more likely that the hook will pull out and give you a hook set. I have found this to be true myself. The second was getting the smoothest presentation of the worm you can possibly get and anything that might catch on grass, wood, rocks the should be avoided. He pointed out that the offset can catch on things and that using a bobber stopper holding a worm weight in place also increases the chance of it hanging up in grass. I've never even heard of using a bobber stop to keep a weight from moving away from the worm.
Just started using a baitcaster today ... I have a 13 origin TX . I couldn’t get the breaks to change so I it’s still on 0 . Barley got any birdnest and that’s my first time and I suck at fishing and was on a kayak for the second time . Ima go out tomorrow and try changing the break to 3 . Truly recommend these reels , super strong and smooth
I know this video is fairly old, but I was actually on the fence about this reel to replace one that I bought to test out. And this video convinced me to purchase. Thank you for literally living your channel's title! Subbed as well!
Nice Bass, great way to break in a new reel. I have the Origin C which is the aluminum framed version of that reel. The colors are reversed. Reel is white and the knobs are black. The white knobs get filthy fast. I don’t know what 13 Fishing was thinking when they made them...
I have two identical " ONE 3 " fishing origin LTE reels myself . im not a newer name brand flavor of the month type of shopper but i have been pleasantly surprised at the reels performance and as i got them several months ago on sale at Dicks ($30.00) the price point worked out well. hope your origin A shows equal value and quality over the time you fish with it.
I got the combo. The Defy Wgite rod with that reel. I started with the brake on 0 perfect for spoons and heavy baits. I didnt know how to adjust the brake though.
Nice fish. That looks like a good setup. I know any reel/rod can catch fish but I also know a good rod makes a big difference feeling light bites/pickups. I have a G. Loomis and St Croix that are incredibly sensitive. They both have Shimano reels. Expensive but the rods are 15 plus years old and the reels about 10. I've got 100's or more bass on each rod. In the long run it was worth the money.
Thomas Landers I agree the rod length and sensitivity can help feel a bite, but the very first rod and reel that I owned was a $21.00 Ugly Stik spinning combo from Sports Authority (RIP Sports Authority, most of them have closed down in my town). And I think that reel preforms better than my more pricey ones sometimes, because I got that rod when I was 10 years old, I turned 22 last Sunday and that reel is still working. The rod did deteriorate but with line change and keeping it clean and oiled that’s still catch a catfish.
Good video Alex I enjoyed watching your vacation videos also,I figured I would comment on them when you came back and did a bass video congrats on the 2 pound bass on the new rod and reel,no skunk on it anymore.
I just got my first baitcaster ever Abu Garcia black max for like 25 bucks at walmart. Never used one before but I'm starting to like it. Still trying to figure out all the knobs on it. I found the drag and I think the magnetic brakes but I'm not sure what the 3rd one does.
I was going to pick up a similar model and i didn’t like the side opening. I’m kind of rough with my gear and I didn’t think it would last me a while. On the other hand we picked up some cheap walmart baitcasters on sale and also pink lol and they have been killing it, i caught catfish and a bunch of small bass on them. Fish on man.
I'm curious, what knot do you use? Fisherman's knot, Improved Clinch Uni? I am asking because I only trust the Palomar for most of my rigs. Spent my early years losing fish from broken knots. Had hard strikes then nothing. After reeling in, there was a pig tail at the break. I was using Uni-knots at the time. Learned about the Palomar 20+ years ago and have Never had a "knot break" since. Had line breaks but I haven't had a pig tail since the mid 90's!
Would like to see more of the 13 reel. I guess there is some mixed opinions on it. Looks like an awesome reel. Really enjoyed the video. Thanks. Be safe
Did I just hear a shoutout to my boy Charles HOOKEM IN THE MOUTH?! 😂 That boat at 2:30 must have been running on the leafblower setting. Hell of a nice free crankbait!
I've never really used a baitcaster, I have an old rhino one somewhere but all I ever manage to do is backlash or break my line off idk whats happening lol
That's entirely possible, I managed to get it to cast half decent (not very far) with a pretty heavy Carolina rig then backlashed it super bad and I think its somewhere still all tangled up lol

Welcome home! I’ve been absent from the past 12 days of videos, apologies ☹️ It’s been busy with me moving from my apartment into a small house so my dog can have her backyard, my birthday (turning 22), a late Easter with my Mom at her house, my A/C BREAKING and not getting fixed and finding a new psychiatrist to get, my doctor retired after being with me for 11 years. The apartment complex has been working on fixing it for five days now and they ordered a part that’ll come in the next “one to three days” so I get to enjoy a nice temperature of 88 °F inside 🙄
That's one expensive real for you. I like the reels without magnetic drag. The centrifical drag seems to work much better for me. Enjoy seeing you use all different kinds and price ranges of equipment but I have to admit I like watching you catch bass on inexpensive equipment the very best of any of your videos.
Have a question; which one of the craws you use seems to be the softest and your opinion? I have trouble with some of the stiffer plastic lures and I hate to buy a bunch of different cross just to find the one that will provide the easiest hookset. You've convinced me I should try them along with the other soft baits I use.
So I have a question I've gone through maybe half the line on my bait caster is it better to tie on new line with the double oni knot or is it best to just to fully respool it? My concern is the double uni knot causing issues

Saturday morning, a cup of coffee, and a great relaxing video.

#notsponsored I dont give a %$#@ what brand people fish with. 😂
Man nice casting to hook that crankbait. That's Impressive.
TN-a beautiful state. Thumbs up!
Thanks Mark!

Nice, I just picked up the Chrome combo baitcaster yesterday!

Your vids inspired me to start my own channel man. Thanks For the awesome videos bud
Still waiting on that first video.... 😅
I know this video is fairly old, but I was actually on the fence about this reel to replace one that I bought to test out. And this video convinced me to purchase.
Thank you for literally living your channel's title! Subbed as well!
Just got my Origin A. Can't wait to try it out. That's a nice Sally. Feisty.
Great Video!!!! TIGHT LINES!!!!
Thanks!
This is the right way to review a reel. I don’t like open box reviews. Good job!
Cool episode, all kinds of stuff happening!
Thats Realistic!
Awsome kit and awsome catch Alex keeping it realistic
Another great video and to come away with an extra lure.....a good day at the lake!
One bass and one lure caught. Sounds like a good day fishing.
Not bad at all
Nice Bass, great way to break in a new reel. I have the Origin C which is the aluminum framed version of that reel. The colors are reversed. Reel is white and the knobs are black. The white knobs get filthy fast. I don’t know what 13 Fishing was thinking when they made them...
Maybe they were thinking people like filthy white knobs
I have a 13 rod that I love. Never tried their reels. Now I think I will
maybe start cheap, this reel was $58
Nice rod......nice bass... and bonus fishing lure!! 👍👍 awesome day!!
I have the same reel. I like it alot. It is quite nice to cast with 12 lb mono. I have green triline on mine

I hope so too 👍
That’s a nice reel, and thanks for the advice on the Texas rig. I caught four on back-to-back casts.
Nice!
I got the combo. The Defy Wgite rod with that reel. I started with the brake on 0 perfect for spoons and heavy baits. I didnt know how to adjust the brake though.
Nice looking reel . Good bass and a crank bait
Looks like a good combo.
👍
Hey hey !!! Free crank bait congrats !! Love it man. Thanks for another great video ! Water in boots if that ain’t keeping it real nothing is.
Thanks for watching Dave

Great review and great information on the reel. Great video!
Thanks!
That is a nice rig. I'm sure you will enjoy it.
So far so good 👍
Good video, I used to bring water shoes and swim trunks for retrieving baits! Haven’t done much bass fishing but want to get into it!
Great catch Alex! Keep up the great work!
Best budget reel on the market other than lews in my opinion! Keep it realistic!
I like the Lews as well. We will have to see how they stack up
Good video Alex I enjoyed watching your vacation videos also,I figured I would comment on them when you came back and did a bass video congrats on the 2 pound bass on the new rod and reel,no skunk on it anymore.
skunk free!
awesome vids! remember to keep it realistic
I sure will
Thats a pretty good looking reel. and a nice bass on it too man, nice job. And a new lure lol. I love finding lost lures like that. awesome vid homie
Nice looking combo blue my favorite color very cool !!!!!
That is a great reel in it's price range....bought myself one for a Christmas/Birthday present. Good luck with it.
$58 for me, not bad at all.
@@RealisticFishing i paid $78 ...some reason left hand return cost more even though it was on sale ....great deal as usual fo you Sir.
Nice bass!! That looks like a nice reel! Looks like a nice crankbait you got at the end!
Nice things all over the place!
looks like a nice baitcaster reel man ... good lure save and find also , nice bass
Thanks Big D
Your videos are great!!! I watch them all
Thanks Gary
God bless spread his word!
love that you went to go get that CB...
Adjusting it was a snap, from the middle setting it gives room to see how light you can go without a backlash.
My favorite reel
Nice chunker and thanks for your videos
Thanks for watching them 👍
@@RealisticFishing hey brother no problem it gives me something to look forward to when I'm on this road
Awesome Video!! Enjoyed Keep it Realistic!! That was worth water in the boots!!
Sure was! Free lure
That's a nice looking rod and reel. It performed very good from what I can see.
Got mine during Black Friday I love it i think I may buy the origin C next
Why the C ?
I just got my first baitcaster ever Abu Garcia black max for like 25 bucks at walmart. Never used one before but I'm starting to like it. Still trying to figure out all the knobs on it. I found the drag and I think the magnetic brakes but I'm not sure what the 3rd one does.

I see you like crawl type soft plastics. I like using the yum crawl. The legs have action and vibration.
👍
Pretty sweet looking reel
Sweet free crankbait! I picked up a rooster tail yesterday in similar fashion (with 30 feet of line)
You rig soft plastic so clean and straight.
Nice looking real. I like it. Also worth the bit of water to get that crank.
Amazing video I miss bass fishing I haven’t gone in weeks
Nice looking reel and cool looking crank bait. Seems a little to much a deep diving CB for that shallow water.
Yep, probably a beginner out there struggling.
A fish AND a crankbait! Score!
Score!
I fine crank baits all the time on the bank. I never have to buy them! Lol tight lines brother!
I use improved clinch for mono and palomar for braid.
Would like to see more of the 13 reel. I guess there is some mixed opinions on it. Looks like an awesome reel. Really enjoyed the video. Thanks. Be safe
There are mixed opinions about everything in life 😉
Great video buddy
Thanks!
Another great video. That crankbait was worth the water I the boots.
I agree !
Nice 2 pounder and nice reel
Oh yeah!
A/C is fixed! Finally got some 73 °F weather in here. I turn 22 on Sunday 😁
Happy Birthday!
Realistic Fishing thanks Alex!
Back to freshwater! Does it feel like u have less options on the lake, or does it feel home, compared to saltwater trips?
more, because all my gear is freshwater
I’m going to Disneyland...The man the myth the legend Randy Daytona..Nice looking real man :)
I never train gweilo!
Nice bass.
Thats a nice reel!
Any advice on learning how to use a baitcasting reel
Did I just hear a shoutout to my boy Charles HOOKEM IN THE MOUTH?! 😂
That boat at 2:30 must have been running on the leafblower setting.
Hell of a nice free crankbait!
We dont snag em, we hook em in the mouth.
Realistic Fishing holla at ya boy
Dang nice one. Never heard of that brand of baitcaster.
I hadn't heard of it before a few years ago.
😁👍 Nice was worth water in the boots to get that beauty crank bait!!
Worth it for sure 👍
I was wondering yesterday if you still had alot of the 13 gear your purchased I couldn't hold out that long without using them lol!
I use the spinning combo all the time 👍
Yeah I see that one I thought you got a pretty nice 13 reel in one of your videos was always wondering what happened to it lol!
Hey Alex how did you like it compared to your abu garcia ultra max reel? Im glad you got one 🎣 👊👍.
The Ultra Max is a little more broken in so I can't really compare them. However it did well for its first time out.
I love that bait only problem is you loose alot of whiskers
Nice I have the 13 origin fb it's a good starter reel casts ok
Nice catch Bro.
Love the videos .....keep it realistic
I have an old hand me down baitcaster never fished with it!
Give it a try
What kind is it? Some of those old reels work great.
I could feel that fuck yeah moment in my bones.
@6:32 was that RIGHT IN THE SNOOT? I think it was 👍🔥🍻
In the snoot for sure 🍺
I've never really used a baitcaster, I have an old rhino one somewhere but all I ever manage to do is backlash or break my line off idk whats happening lol
It sounds like its not set up correctly for what you are trying to cast.
That's entirely possible, I managed to get it to cast half decent (not very far) with a pretty heavy Carolina rig then backlashed it super bad and I think its somewhere still all tangled up lol
*Good Video Congratulations Fisherman.*
_God be with you!_
*Hug and good fishing!* 👍🎣
Thanks Suellen 😀

Nice beem so busy at work glad someones out 🍺
Wet feet, but at least you didn't have to swim. And free is almost always worth it. Good stuff. 👍👍

@@RealisticFishing You got a great price. I'm seeing them many places for $75.

Rage craws are probably my favorite
@@RealisticFishing Thanks much.
Nice reel. Water over the boots? Why, yes.. I mean it's a crankbait! C'mon! I had a feeling you weren't going to stop once you got in. Great job.
Walking in after lures is kinda my thing 😅
The reel looks pretty nice. How does it compare to the abu Garcia that Walmart carries?
After one use, I cant really tell ya.
I don't feel like I had a successful outing unless I find something useful that someone else lost. Nice reel review.👍
I do quite often 👍
Our local store got tons of 13 fishing gear. For the money I can buy Penn and Daiwa.
You can buy a Penn baitcaster for $58?
Spinning reels. The 13 brand here is $60 plus dollars. I got my Penn Pursuit 3 for $50.
Well Alex if at least you got a crank bait at it keep it realistic brother
Score!
Cool video congrats on the free crank! What gear ratio is that baitcaster?
6.6 : 1
So I have a question I've gone through maybe half the line on my bait caster is it better to tie on new line with the double oni knot or is it best to just to fully respool it? My concern is the double uni knot causing issues
Since I use line that costs $1.75, I replace all of the line.
13 reel! Flukemaster would be proud!
doubt it 🤣
