- The new Origin A Baitcasting Reel is built and priced for the beginner and everyday angler. I only film a tackle review after using the product for a period of time. Nothing new out of the box here. The Origin a has been a great reel so far. It preforms better than any reel that I've used at or near the same price. I feel as though it will be a great reel for someone for years to come. 13 Fishing has worked hard to create quality new reels that don't cost a lot of money. bought one of these reels on black Friday and am dying to use it once spring comes. Love watching these videos, especially of rods and reels around the 70-100 dollar price range
I like the reviews on for the budget angler. Anything up to $150 I love. Cause you can always find a deal on it somewhere for a better price. And a good honest review from someone that fishes it for a good amount of time makes all the diffence. Do more reviews

I really like how you give positives and negatives in your reviews, and love how you tested casting distance. Really helps in making a purchasing decision. Bought the concept Z after watching your review. Love to see some more comparisons between high dollar reels and maybe even rods.

Gene, highly respect your opinion, all equipment I have purchased is based off of your review... Okuma TCS rod based on your review, most recently 13 fishing inception reel that I matched with it and others. I am sold on 13 fishing and am saving my penny’s to get your frog rod. My son who will be 13 in February and I love to fish... he works every Monday helping clean our church and is saving for a bait caster set up because he loves using mine and based on your review of this reel it will be a great first real for him!!! Thank you for your clean family friendly vids that my son and I enjoy and the time you take to do instructionals and reviews... helps fisherman like my son and I to decide on products and learn new techniques!!! I am just getting back into bass fishing and picked up the bad habit of kayaking fishing (bad to my bank account any way!). I greatly appreciate the fact that you re including reviews from throughout the price ranges. Right now, I am trying to build my arsenal on a fairly low to medium budget; being able to watch these reviews and the videos on your "Flukemaster" channel saves me a ton of time and money! I honestly and fully believe you when you say that you speak only the truth about how you review products, sponsors or not. I have learned a lot from you and thank you.

I really like how you did the Concept Z review, I think you should have more comparison tests in your reviews such as the casting distance! It’s nice to see the reel go head to head with others in their price range. Keep up the videos man, love both the channels.
Thanks for the review Gene. I’m looking for a good Reel in 8:1 gear ratio and I’ve been comparing the Origin A and C. I think I’m leaning toward the C because of the aluminum frame and (if I may correct you) the A has 13lb of drag verses 18lb in the C. I love your honest reviews and would love to hear your opinion if the Origin C and maybe a comparison of those 2 and the Inception as each is about $20 difference from the one below it. I am glad you are taking the time to review equipment that isn't all high end stuff. I fish on a very tight budget and usually only get new stuff when I have the opportunity to hustle some extra work. This year, I have a Son graduating high school and he has plans to attend Kansas University. I have a Daughter graduating from Kansas State University and 2 Daughters getting married within one month of each other this fall. Long story short; I am a Daddy first and always will put them before me! So, I don't have money to just blow. I have been kicking the idea of another baitcaster and setting up a frog rod. I am a heck of a lot closer to pulling that trigger with this review!!!!! Thanks Gene!

I like your reviews for the fact you don’t bs us I test some of the stuff you have told us about and I got basically the same feelings you was talking about that is what makes me come back time and time again and if I wanted to see anything it’s more reviews lol

Gene thank you for being a pivotal influence in my bass fishing experience. I would really enjoy you taking the "Top 6" rated reel brands on the market and fishing with them for two months at a time (does not have to be simultaneously) and doing a year review on them. Great review. I am looking for another good baitcaster to add to my arsenal. Just started fishing last year and your videos have been amazing for helping give me guidance for catching some quality fish while I’m out on the water. Great reviews, I would like to see come Kayak fishing gear reviews. Just got a kayak recently and can't decide what I want to do as far as a depth finder, rod holders, cooler, etc.

Thank you for the review on the Origin A. I just got a fate black casting rod, but I haven't decided what reel I want to throw on there yet. I'm only a weekend warrior, the Origin A and fate black would probably be a good set up. Flukemaster I'de like to see you fish the potholes in Washington state sometime, I grew up fishing those lakes and I think you would love it out there. There are so many lakes to choose from and they're perfect to fish off your kayak. Hope to see you out here sometime!

Great review...i met you at the Field and Stream in Ohio and you showed me these new reels before they were in stores along with your new Jackson kayak... glad to see you are very consistent with your opinions whether one on one or in a setting where there are lots of viewers. Love my concepts but gotta get one of these as well.
I enjoy both channels and i appreciate your honesty when it comes to products and other things companies try to run gimmicks on. I personally have handled this reel and i think it is a good starter reel or like you said to use sparingly but if you fish alot then i recommend spending alittle extra and getting a bit better reel you will be much happier in the long run.

Hey Gene.. I never used the 13 fishing reels but in my fresh water videos you will see me using a 13 fishing rod which I like.
Love your reviews honest and no bs. Can you do a full line of 13 Reel Reviews and if you had to buy one what reason why you would buy that one vs another. I am looking at the new orange one and want to get it something fierce but is it worth it over the 3 inceptions I already have.

Love the review channel! I would like to see a review of swim baits like Keitech and show how to - Rig it, fish it, set the hook, what weight/type of line to use and what speed reel and rod strength to use.
Tackle warehouse shows the drag as 13 lb but you mentioned 18. Do you know which is correct? What is the spool size of the reel or how much line can it hold? Also they advertised it has Japanese Hamai Cut gearing and I'm wondering if you can explain what that means? Thanks for the review Gene!

I have this reel paired with a 6'6" Fate Chrome Medium/Fast and I use it mainly for throwing light jigs and small swim baits. It works really well throwing light lures.

I’ve been following your main channel for quite some time now, and just subscribed to your review channel. Great Review BTW. I actually just purchased this reel from a private seller on the marketplace, who purchased it a few weeks back and never used it. It was only taken out of the package, with all the paperwork. The guy said he paid $100 for it, and sold it to me for $65. Was a great deal. It’s the 8.1:1 Not quite sure what model it is,it’s white with black and green knobs, and a chrome button. Actually really nice looking, but after going out, picking up a good 7’ Med/ Heavy Rod, and taking it out for a while, it seemed to me that my $99 7.5:1 Lews Combo was still smoother. I’m using 12lb Fluorocarbon on both those setups, should I be using a different line? Or is my Lews combo still a better setup? Lol. Thanks in advance.
