I started out with a handfull when I started clothdiaperimg back in 2009 with my 1,5 year old because she kept getting bad rashes - the cloth diapers worked magic and soon I had a stash of 20 diapers. Now I am on baby numer 3 and have 19 flats (mostly bamboo), 5 hemp prefolds, 11 Thirsties duo wraps, 10 homemade fitted for nightime, 20 pockets and 4 aios. So way more than needed :-D I wash every 2nd day - don't like having the diapers sit for too long. I use different diapers for different things and like my stash as it is :)
I love getting used cloth diapers and other accessories makes it way cheaper in the long run :) probably will only spend 30 dollars-50 on a pack if I am going to buy more packs that I love designs that I can pick for my baby but other than that donated stuff is just as good, most of the time! only have paid for a few things
Love this video love your stash i live in the caribbean and ive jist started cloth diapering 3 weeks ago on my 3month old almost 4 month old son so im just building my stash i wash daily but i am on my feet all day so i want to start washing every 2 days so washing these videos help me decide what i need to build my stash. I chamge my son every 3 hours and at nights everytime he wakes up
hello i will get delivered on may . do you encourage me to use flour sack towels or bamboo prefold or bamboo charcoal diaper or grovia one ? whats the best please w no leak no inflammatroy ?
13 pockets, 9 refolds and 6-8 covers. It was always ok to do laundry every second day and I started cloth diapering when baby 1 was 3ish mths. I have a newborn now and want to get him in cloth soon, my question has been fir years - how many changes can you use the same cover on prefolds/flats? I have 3 newborn fitting covers and I just ordered 2 from nuggles. .. With their sale and the exchange rate very affordable to get to Europe!
1 cover you use untill won't be soild just wipe with wet wipes. I liked to use fresh cover every time really so what I been doing is I hand wash used cover and always put fresh one each time because I think is more hygienist.
Just starting to build my all-organic stash as Baby Boy won't be here before June (hopefully). I'm aiming for 5 AIO, 5 pockets, 10 covers, 2-3 wool covers, 10 fitted , 10 day inserts & 10 nights inserts (bamboo, hemp, cotton), 10 prefolds, 10 flats. What do you think?? Should I also invest in a wipe warmer? And a diaper sprayer and shield?? What about biodegradable liners?? Thank yooouuuu :D
Cylia S wow sounds like a great start to a stash. Those last things I would say are nice to haves. Many families couldn’t live without them and some get by just fine. I don’t use a sprayer. I dunk and swish and wash my hands but I know that’s not always popular
Get a diaper sprayer or if you have a removable shower head 🚿 you can spray in a bucket just clip your diaper to the bucket and pour in your toilet I couldn’t do a dunk and swish I use cloth pads and I would never dunk and swish that Period. Also get some fleece liners or stay dry liners or stay dry doublers It makes the spraying easier Don’t bother with disposable liners unless baby has a rash and if that is the case I would rather just use viva paper towels because it’s thicker and the cream doesn’t escape
Great video thanks. I have a 3yo still in disposables but want to try cloth diapers, at this late stage I just want cheap flats, pins pull on pants. Do you have any idea if flats will be ok on a 3yo?
Only talking about newborns since I don’t have experience with an older baby. At least 20 changes per day for newborns. Add in dry time and how often you want to do laundry. At least 1 cover per 3 inserts if wipeable. But I like having enough diapers and not running out so I run bigger stashes. I also hang dry and like to do diaper laundry ever other day. So for newborn flats 40, and 12 covers if I had a poopy baby for every other day washing with hang drying. Prefolds slightly more because I hang dry and they take longer to dry. (Up to two days when it rains.) 50-60 prefolds would be a good number. 12 covers allowing for a poopy baby. Newborn All in ones since I hang dry and have heard they can take 2 days to hang dry around 50-60. But I would do 60. Newborn pockets I think I could get away with 30. If I hang dried and had back up inserts. So 50-60 inserts and 30 pockets. If you use a dryer the numbers drop or if you’re willing to do diaper laundry every day.
We have 27 pockets currently. It works for us, but I’m thinking about trying some fitteds for overnight because he has to be so bulked up to last through the night and he sleeps. My goal is to be able to do our Michigan trips without having to do laundry in a strange place if I don’t want too. This also would allow me to go a week without laundry but my plan is as soon as our diaper basket is full do them and I shouldn’t have any “oh no! We don’t have enough diapers to last the day and it takes longer than that to do laundry....” 😆
Still setting up my stash. Baby isnt here yet. I have the following... 25 pockets one size 5 covers one size 12 newborn covers 50 flower sacks 23 half flower sacks 12 newborn prefolds I'm wanting to wash every 3 days But baby isnt here so my stash could very well change up depending on what works on baby and what works for us. -Any tips on anything that would be a good idea to try in our stash? *I'm going to be doing alot of hand washing*
Since I started with a 22mon old, I was going to go minimal and only have enough for 2 days and wash every other day. Quickly, I realized I needed more. I was using about 9 pocket diapers for about a week and was waiting for an order of flats and covers to arrive, it worked out but I was extremely excited felt more at peace of with having enough flats and covers for another day and half. Now it's summer and my boy is drinking a lot of water throughout the day, so he's peeing more. Just today my hubby asked why there we're such a big dirty flats pile from only one, so I'm glad I got extra. Typically, my boy will only need about 4-6 diapers/day as a 23mon old, but today he went through about 7.

I recommend at least 36 Pockets or covers and I don't reuse covers. I just feel weird about it and so I just use a cover like I would a pocket.

25 AIO's or Pockets or a combo, and 10 organic fitted with lots of covers with 10 boosters for overnight.

i really like watching your video thank you..
Even if you could fit a weeks worth in your machine, that's pretty gross leaving them that long.
