Hey 👋🏽
You should look into switching out your microfiber for flats they are super cheap and way more absorbent and super easy to clean.
I went to a thrift store and bought a queen sized flat flannel sheet and cut that up and made about 10ish flats they are sooo good I just padfold them and stuff the pockets and when it’s time to wash they come so clean because it unfolds to just one layer ( you could also buy a few yards of cotton flannel from a fabric store as well)
You could also get some cotton T-shirts from the thrift store and pad fold those in the pockets. I use T-shirtsleeves flats wrapped on my baby girl 🥰
Microfiber is made from microplastics and they really hold on to bacteria which is what’s causing the stinky issues but with natural fabrics so long as you have a good wash routine you shouldn’t have that issue 😊
Thanks for posting been following your cloth diaper journey from when you started with your son 🌺
can you make a video about that?
Yes I'm hoping to slowly switch everything over. I have had almost no extra time for sewing projects, but hopefully this winter I can! That would be awesome if I could get rid of all those microfiber! Such a great idea! Thank you!!
@@WilsonHomestead your very welcome
Another option if you bought some stretchy fabric then you could cut those into flats and they don’t frey so wouldn’t need to sew same with T-shirts if you went that route then no need to sew because they won’t frey
Natures fabric has bamboo stretch French terry for about $12 a yard (a little pricey ) however it holds a ton and if you got 5 continuous yards you could make 12 one size flats which is about 28x28 they also have wholesale options
Since your a UA-camr you may be able to work something out with them (just a thought)
Oh wow, those are some awesome ideas! Thanks for the tips, I'll have to look into it ;)
Im a mom of 3 now and I tried everything with my first except for wool...with my second child I discovered the magic of wool!!! And since then I only use cotton and wool and it is the best system!!! Wool is the best and is also breathable, eco friendly, aaaaaand you don’t have to wash them as often!!! Oh and they’re super cute...I really do feel like I have the best diapering system yet...to each their own but don’t count wool out! You gotta try it!
Yeah I have really been wanting to try wool, I have heard a lot of good things about it!
@@WilsonHomestead You will not regret it!
Hey I'm curious. What do you use inside the wool cover? I really want to invest in all natural fabrics as you mentioned.
Thank you for this video! Super helpful - I’m saving to watch again and take notes. We are first time parents expecting a little boy this winter, and looking forward to trying cloth diapers! ☺️✨
You're welcome, glad you found it useful ;) That's so exciting, hope everything goes how you plan! It's such an amazing journey to go on!
You can get cheap packs if flour sack towels and they work great inside diapers! I stuff them in almost all my son's diapers. 😊
love your channel
Yeah that's a nice cheaper way to do it ;) I plan on switching all mine out for those as they get worn out.
Thank you for this video! It's very helpful to know what works for others. We are expecting our first and I am very excited to try cloth diapering. Thanks for the info!
You're so welcome! I'm always so happy to hear about other people getting interested in cloth diapering ;) Hope you can try it and it works out well for you!
Thank you for taking the time to post! Supper helpful information!
You are so welcome! Glad you enjoyed ;)
Great video for sure. I have microfiber inserts that I never use because I have bamboo, cotton and hemp inserts/prefolds and flats so I was just gonna throw them away but now I feel like I need to give them away because there are definitely ppl who could use them.
Yeah there are always people who could use them and get some more use out of them :)
You should definitely check out Facebook buy sell trade cloth diaper groups, you can find some amazing deals on green mountain diaper/clotheez prefolds which are AMAZING if you can’t find them I highly recommend buying them new it’s a great investment and you can sell them after because they are so amazing people snatch them up on the bst groups. I highly recommend their hemp boosters as well. Can’t say enough wonderful things about green mountain diapers. you really can get away with stuff the size small into pockets and then moving up to mediums I never had to go bigger than a medium size prefold for my kids. Also I agree I didn’t care for thirsties when I tried them used but when I bought from them I ended up loving them!
Awesome, thanks for the helpful information! I'll have to check it out and keep my eyes on the lookout ;)
Hi! Do u find it easier to keep your diapers separate by child or have you considered just having them all together and grabbing whatever u need for whoever needs it ????
Oh it's by far easier to have them separate 😄 I have them adjusted differently for each child. Unless you have twins that are in the same size diapers.
I know you mentioned you would only use prefolds if you could do it over, is it because of the absorbency or the fabric? I’m looking to do the same and I was curious
They are my favorite for absorbency! I’m happy with any fiber besides microfiber though, less toxins in natural fibers like cotton, hemp and bamboo ☺️
Wow, great info!! And you are gorgeous would love to see how you keep that up. Bambino Mio covers peel easily. I have 4, and they peeled within the first few months. I only air dry. But I like to use bleach sooo...anyway they are still usable. I have nearly the same amount as you but with one kid lol, so I don't think you're stash is huge.
Aww thank you so much!!!
Oh that is good to know! I also air dry and do a monthly bleach on my cloth diapers, so I'll keep an eye out for that! I wish it didn't do that because I've really enjoyed the bambino cover so far! :(
What would be your number one diaper and number one insert? Like your absolute favorites
Nora's Nursery pocket diaper is my #1 favorite. And probably a 100% cotton prefold is my favorite insert ;)
I can send you for free brand new bumgenius micro fiber inserts I put them to the side and bought flats and natural material inserts and prefolds. So I'll never use them you can have them
Oh that would be great, thanks so much! Here is the address you can send them to.
