- An old group staple, Java Jive, is shown here as presented in a 1988 concert video that is interspersed with clips from several mid-1970s shows the group appeared in. Interesting to see the changes through the years!
Rest now Tim... You gave us music for the ages. Manhatten Transfer was and is one of the grestest music forces in modern history. Take five!

I saw Manhatten Transfer in January and they still sound great! We were 3 rows back from the stage and what a treat! It's the best money you'll ever spend!
FANTASTIC BAND, FANTASTIC MUSIC. And pretty fantastic editing too Spockster59!
Awesome editing! Miss those ManTran days.. the coolest jazz group !
Nice job, and it points out the slow evolution of their style. Amazing!
Adorable!!! Great job. I'm betting that the group saw this and loved it!
Fantastic editing!
Great editing!!! Thanks so much for this!
What a great mix!
Will you look at Janis's hair. Holy mother of pearl.
Seen 'em twice live in Jax, FL !! First discovered them in the mid 70's on a summer TV show
Class act, this. Love these guys!
Beautiful❤️❤️❤️
Nice job melding the various time period video performances.
I didn't know it was theirs!!!! THANK YOU for posting!
Simplemente fantástico.
I used to like this group a lot but I recently got hooked on this accapella group called Take 6! Take 6 is the hottest vocal group on the planet!
I don’t think The Manhattan Transfer minds the Take 6 comparison... They really did serve as “a gateway drug” for so many of us a cappellists, and you know how these things go... first it’s a little coffee, then some tea... and the next thing you know, you’re mainlining Mahalia Jackson and Benny Goodman by way of six-part arrangement only a genius Tigertone could transcribe by ear...
“If We Ever Needed The Lord Before (We Sure Do Need Him Now)”, Take 6....

Fantastic!!!(no other words)
Lorraine, glad you liked the video. I can't take credit for the editing though, it was already edited from the tape I had of the concert.
Luv!!!
Awesome!
Nicely done
Very very good.
nice made video
Wow!!!So cute..;)
Very well edited but, nevertheless, it drove me mad I'm afraid. I have a version on vinyl from their Pastiche album which I'd forgotten about and I'm going to go and find and play through. So thanks for posting and reminding me.
this is like a radio commercial for coffee lol
history in musik too
mostruosiiiiii
I love coffee.
thanks-though I'm really looking for the chord progressions Wayne put together.
Did you know where is the "Coffee Island"....? Java Island ... Indonesia
grt vid! does anyone have just the '88 performance?
Anyione know where to get an accurate guitar tab for this - like Wayne used to play it?
Hehehe. He sounds more like Tom Waits than he does Louis. The kerchief was a great touch though.
Great video...is this an Inkspots original?
Nice mash-up. Bahdaydoe indeed.
Boston B-boy?! LOL I don't remember those lyrics.
I tell you something, Manhattan Transfer IS JAZZ if you can not dig them then It's just your ears didn't get used to the taste of Jazz yet.
to be honest I don't like it either, but, you have to admit they are good.
they stole this from the ink spots!!!
Someone let their toddler fix their hair!
Butchered a great song, for what, a stupid stunt?
