Love this song! People tend to forget how amazingly experimental music was in the era of 1979-1984. So much great music of all genres being put out there.
1974-1979 very experimental as well in electro, funk and disco fields. A crazy race to grap new sounds. Each town or country has its own touch (munich sound philadelphia sound miami sound...).
So true...and I came along right on time. That 79-84 timeframe was the beginning of my musical exploration. By 84 (age 7) I was already singing and playing and songs like Twilight Zone, Sweet Dreams, Rock With You, Glamorous Life...I could list for days...were the songs that expanded my young musical palette.

Bridges generations with a tribute to Glenn Miller in the lyrics. "Cold and rainy night" "Mr. Miller had a rare flight" "now plays trombone in the mystic unknown zone".
A couple years earlier the same guy (Jay Graydon) had cut the solo on Steely Dan's "Peg", legend says after 7 super pros tried unsuccessfully. Check it out! Great musician/producer
This is crazy. The samples are big. At a time when sample technology was expensive. Plus when the song actually begins it’s actually really good. The Transfer never disappoints 👍🏽
Written by Jay Graydon and Alan Paul. Graydon plays the guitar solo. A prolific songwriter and session musician, Graydon also played the guitar solo on Steely Dan's "Peg," which is a hell of a story unto itself. For some reason I always can picture myself driving through a particular intersection at night while listening to this song on the car radio when it was new…that would’ve been my 1978 Volkswagen Rabbit.
I was well into Disco for several years at this point when this came out, but this was a game changer. There was a fusion of disco, punk, and pop that was happening around 1980, and this was one of the glorious results.
I first heard this song in the spring of 1980. I liked the beat and the vocals not disco but more pop and danceable great guitar. The 80s was going to be great music for me going into my teens. Great times and. great memories.

“Twilight Zone” and “I Never Really Knew What Love Was All About” are the only two Manhattan Transfer songs I like..

SUPER !
Man , loved this song! They use to play this in house mixes in the early 80's in Chicago! This was a jam!! Thanks for posting👍
I was well into Disco for several years at this point when this came out, but this was a game changer. There was a fusion of disco, punk, and pop that was happening around 1980, and this was one of the glorious results.
Great song great video great voice great performance great perception and a good time to be in back in 79
I first heard this song in the spring of 1980. I liked the beat and the vocals not disco but more pop and danceable great guitar. The 80s was going to be great music for me going into my teens. Great times and. great memories.
Wow. First time in like 40 years I'm hearing this. Love this song 🎵 ❤
The GREAT Jeff Porcaro (RIP) on drums!
