Louis, there's something in all this you don't realize. Yes, your employees made the business so successful that you've got a near perfect score. Who picked these employees? Who created the business they work for? Who lead by example to create the culture that motivates them to be so mindful, respectful, and everything else you said? You know that without your employees, your business doesn't exist, and that gives you credit in ways that are difficult to fathom. But without your leadership and guidance, these employees wouldn't have been brought together and pushed to excel to this crazy level. You may not be the arms or mouth of your business, but you are it's heart. You are an important part of this success!
Just as there are specializations in the various tech skills, the ability to coordinate a group is also a skill. We need to be more honest as a society that managers are not more deserving than other people. Clearly that attitude, brainwashed into so many people is making more people miserable than not.

If it ain’t broke don’t replace it. As a business owner Ross understood that his success came from his employees. As a business owner, he also realized that it’s his job to constantly make sacrifices in the name of his business. Owning a business is never a set it and forget it job. That’s why most businesses fail. Majority of business owners aren’t willing to make the real hard sacrifices for their business, not staying on top of the day to day etc.

That post and your memorial post you recently did were very heartwarming posts demonstrating the value of surrounding yourself with uplifting people and holding onto those who touch your life in positive ways. I have less than a handful of photos from my childhood. Unfortunately, my mother destroyed most of them. I've gotten into photo restoration in order to help a friend who only has a single photo of his father. It truly is an immeasurable gift. Thank you for sharing, as always.
Same, shoe box after shoe box of photo's gone and neither parent would own up to doing it. Sadly the one who had possession of them the longest and first during their separation also went to her grave never acknowledging the abuse or any of the wrong doing she perpetrated.
This was profoundly beautiful. I hope as many of you as possible get a chance to provide those around you with moments like this and experience at least a handful of them yourselves. 🙏
I've had family that stole money from me and take advantage of me.... and then I have had friends, who let me to move into their house, when I was homeless.... family can be just as evil, as a stranger in a dark alley.... I'm glad that Steve was there for you, even when you thought you didn't need him.
"it was family that tried to take all memories of my childhood and destroy it, it was friends who put it back together" ... Thats REALLY strong and heavy knowledge. We somehow cultivated a world where "family and blood is most important" when it isnt. Its friends who become the real family. Every family member I am in touch with I would also consider my friend. Kick out terrible people, blood doesnt mean anything.
What's important about family is forging positive relationships with them because you'll always be related to them, no matter what. That's not always possible, but I think it's definitely worth it to try.
In the age where morea nd more often the workforce is treated as a disposable resource instead of human beings it warms my heart to know there are people like you. Thank you for taking the time to shine a bright light on your people. Simple acts of gratitude and kindness are far too few and far between in our culture. Deliberately taking some time to make a video to say "thank you" and "this touched me" for a couple of them says a lot about your and the sort of people that choose to work with you.
Dude, that is fantastic. I know you like to bash yourself, saying you're an asshole etc, but you inspire people and at the end of the day no matter what faults you have, your heart is in the right place, and that's not nothing. I live in another country but I wish I could shake your hand. Probably will never happen, but I just wanna say that you're doing good in this world.
@@rossmanngroup I think both matter. Outcomes might be bad sometimes, but if the intentions were good it does count for something. Bad outcomes that were coming from bad intentions are always worse. You can forgive someone who does you harm but didn't mean it. Gotta be kind to yourself sometimes, man.
@@rossmanngroup I think that is an oversimplification, as both are important. It's the difference between murder and manslaughter. Both result in death but there's a very big difference between the two. If you don't try and you fail, all you need to do is try harder. If you try your best and you fail, then you need to actively work on your limitations. In the end of the day, just keep on trying. And trying. And trying. You can't fault a man for trying.
@@rossmanngroupBut keep in .ind: from bad intentions seldomly come good outcomes. Good intentions is setting sight on the right goals, which only leaves finding the right path to that goal

Hey, as a boss who brought the crew together, you earn at least 5% of the appreciation, as those guys would not do what they do without you. Some of them, got infected with your business culture, and statistically you saved at least 1 of them from working in scam repair center, like apple's. it's always a team effort, so at least give yourself that. You created a place that allowed your workers to be good and do it ethically. Good job.
I'm not sure his point is, or at least I don't interpret it as such as self-hatred or something. It's just that he truly wants to acknowledge his ex-employees' or current employees efforts, as he always endorsed them. People usually perceive it as cringe for the best or worst to endorse yourself even when it's true. Personally I find it healthy to be able to recognize both good-s and bad-s of who you are publicly, but people usually feel awkward to say good stuff about themselves that even when they do it's just usually misinterpreted. That said, I dont think Louis has any kind of self-hatred or something. He just wants to acknowledge that he's not an angel and give the people that also chose to work for him for such a long time and be great people, give them the most props to give emphasis on their endorsement.

regarding the fotos. I had a similar situation 10 or so years ago. we had a priest as guest of my parents. he well into his 70ties or maybe even 80ties. then he showed us a small picture of his mother, that he carried around always. it was one of those sepia colored contact prints of her and him as a little boy, and it was (5cm or 2 inches across). I scanned it, and blew it up to A4. he has seen his mothers face for the first time in over 50 years. frankly, it was a really easy job, and it might have not been easy for him to even give us that picture (he of course got it back), but it meant the world to him.

I love Louis, mainly because he is a decent man with a big heart and is humble and able to honestly look into the mirror.
maybe louis should be naked too
Louis, there's something in all this you don't realize.
I said more or less the same thing, maybe in a more, um, "Да здравствует созданный волей народов" fashion.
Just as there are specializations in the various tech skills, the ability to coordinate a group is also a skill.
We need to be more honest as a society that managers are not more deserving than other people.
Clearly that attitude, brainwashed into so many people is making more people miserable than not.
You are an honorable man for acknowledging the efforts of those who work by your side
Its refreshing to see someone so authentic and sincere as yourself. Thank you.
Anyone else hear Louis get choked up as he was signing off?
Thank you for sharing, Louis. This is why I follow your channel, your passion and values parallel my own.
@@vectorhooves7970same
He did multiple times in the video.
It's very obvious this really touched him.
A hard to work for boss doesn’t necessarily make a shitty one. This has to be one of the best things you could have ever done for an ex-employee. You’re awesome!
I mess up very often in how I present problems and ask for solutions. I think I was more of a leader 2009-2019 than I have been the last four or five years. I know I've been better, and can do better
@@rossmanngroupwhy do you think you haven't been as good of a leader the last few years?
@@patrickl6987he has said multiple times in videos the last few years he's been less than stellar in lifestyle choices and leadership.
For an 85 year old man you seemed to have handled your stress very well. Showing the appreciation of your employee / friends shows outstanding character. If I have a PC problem you are the first person I will think of. Thank you Louis, for the person you are.
Great message, Louis. Respect to you for sharing this, and to Steve for his thoughtfulness and kindness.
The free rent for a year to move is miles beyond what most would even consider. To do it without hesitation shows how much you truly care about them and their worth to the business. They are more than numbers.
Oh man, I'm sorry to hear Steve couldn't stay but it's nice to hear that he was able to use your old space in NYC. That way, all the work you put into making that space great doesn't go to waste, and there's some continuation of the Rossmann legacy there while Steve gets to run a business of his own.
I wish Steve all the best, and he should consider making a youtube channel (if he wants) so that people can keep up with him
Always nice to see someone address something so honestly.
I cried watching this. Thank you for sharing, Louis.
This is the epitome of how culture is built. It’s one relationship at a time with your team. Corperate America has no idea how to build this. Louis I’m a new business owner, and I love this so much. My last career path I became very close with my employer. True Friends. Ones that hit the gun range and fish and pray for each other.
I’m very encouraged to see you, an employer, acknowledge how valuable your team is and advocate for his new business. When I visit New York, I intend to swing by and meet him if possible. Take courage dear brother your impact reaches people in ways you don’t comprehend. Keep going.
What a heartfelt video. The whole community that follows you and what you do, appreciate the passion in your work and we all see that. Thank you
I've had family that stole money from me and take advantage of me.... and then I have had friends, who let me to move into their house, when I was homeless.... family can be just as evil, as a stranger in a dark alley.... I'm glad that Steve was there for you, even when you thought you didn't need him.
I read your original post and it brought a tear to my eye. That's such a Beautiful parting gift!! 😢
You ended the video right before tearing up. Man, that's the kind of friendship you can't easily obtain. Gotta forge it.
"I hope you learned something."
💯 Absolutely, I have only friends around me. Not much family left. They're the real ones
What's important about family is forging positive relationships with them because you'll always be related to them, no matter what. That's not always possible, but I think it's definitely worth it to try.
@@creeperizak8971 the thing is it goes both ways, and sometimes we can't always be the ones to give.
@@toriitoraa Yeah it can only work when both sides are trying.
In the age where morea nd more often the workforce is treated as a disposable resource instead of human beings it warms my heart to know there are people like you. Especially in the USA where you have much less laws protecting workers in place. I hope you always prosper and all this good returns to you.
Steve is VERY lucky to have a friend like you Louis.
Louis is VERY lucky to have a friend like Steve.
WE are BLESSED to know the both of you even if only through second or third hand experience.
I am very glad you managed to escape NY.
I am saddened that Steve could not.
Thank you for the video and explaining your rationale for NOT leaving NY for so long.
I will endeavor to keep that in mind next time I am moved to exclaim "WHY don't you MOVE AWAY from these horrid places?"
Knowing you makes us all better.
That is my opinion. I could be wrong.
Peaceful Skies.
I cried. He's a good friend of yours. Hope you both stayed in touch.
“Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art.... It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things which give value to survival.”
-C.S. Lewis
wrong, friendships do have survival value and that's why it's encoded in our genes
Friendship has survival value unlike art and philosophy. If you go missing art won't look for but your friends will.
@@b.fingers3896 The genes of the internet are encoded to argue _anything_ .
I did not expect to cry this morning from watching the computer repair channel. truly touching video. thank you for sharing.
We wish u the best of luck Steve !
People like Steve keep the world glued together and are the reason our species hasn't completely destroyed itself.
A true legend, a friend everyone needs. Impossible to find these kind of people now which is truly sad.
One of the most Honest and Sincere people I've listened to. And I do learn something each time.
Thank you for taking the time to shine a bright light on your people. Simple acts of gratitude and kindness are far too few and far between in our culture. Deliberately taking some time to make a video to say "thank you" and "this touched me" for a couple of them says a lot about your and the sort of people that choose to work with you.
Man listening to this has me almost in tears.
Steve is family.
I think people should be judged on outcomes, not intentions. My outcomes are often not acceptable
@@rossmanngroup I suspect you're an "asshole" like Muhammad Ali is "arrogant" -- in a fun way everybody likes.
@@rossmanngroupBut keep in .ind: from bad intentions seldomly come good outcomes. Good intentions is setting sight on the right goals, which only leaves finding the right path to that goal
Wow. powerful. So thoughtful and kind of Steve. Thank you for sharing. What a blessing to have someone like that in your life. All the best to his success and your continued success.
I learned what a great boss looks like. You admitted you were a hard boss but you demonstrated a fairness that should inspire those who give a dang a reason to rise up to be a better version of themselves. Agreed this is probably your most important video in 12 years. Well done.
Youre an absolute unit, you did what you could but the city was just simply eating you alive. Godspeed to you and Steve.
Glad to hear your story Louis. Much love to you, Steven, and even Kevin
Thanks for sharing, Louis. Very touching and inspiring.
most emotional "i hope you've learned something" ever on this channel. Love your board repair videos, love your business advices which no one should follow (obviously) but this content... It just restores a tiny fraction of belief in humanity, that we may actually somehow survive without killng each other. Thanks Louis for video and to you Steve for actions leading to this video existence.
4 am eastern Louis uploads are always my favorite. Well wishes from a long time lurking viewer!
1am for me. haha
9am for me hehe
5:50am here. Lol. Currently drinking water, a smoothie, and a coffee at the same time. If i make it to NY ill go say hi to Steve. Maybe bring him a coffee, or redbull or whatever awakener he prefers.
Same here buddy.
We appreciate and value you Louis. Thanks for doing what you do.
Man I love when you put up another fantastic example of why I've been following you for so long
when a friend makes lifelong family issues disappear in one paragraph... talk about miracles. I'm not going to insult you by saying you're lucky, you put the work in and the result is friends like steve. superb
A heartwarming and very human video. Thanks for this.
Congratulations, for having a great friend and coworker. Good luck to you both.
Amazingly personal video Louis, thank you!
I'm glad you were able to meet employees like that Louis, even if you do sell yourself a short. People wouldn't stick their neck out for you or wouldn't go to the effort of moving across the country, or repairing family pictures of you if you weren't someone who genuinely deserved it. I think despite all the flaws you see within yourself, you've got a lot of knowledge, integrity and tenacity that people like about you. You are worth it to them, and it's wonderful to see them pay it back to you no matter how big or small.
Steve seems like much more of his own boss than an employee, good on him. Still needs to leave NY before the wall goes up.
Louis, you are awesome! Thanks for sharing
How fortunate you have been and how very fortunate those who Steve is still around are.
As someone who's recently gotten out of a crazy situation with immediate family and getting that similar erasure happening now, Louis, its genuinely amazing to know that there are people out there to support you. Kindness and compassion beats out everything else. I dont know where I'd be if it weren't for the close relationships i've made along the way.
I was a Steve for years until I was taken advantage of, ignored when I was the one needing help for the first and in the end I was even bullied. And that's why I became worse than a Kevin. It sucks because I was genuinely a really positive and helpful person but like most assholes in this world: they're made.
No one's worse than a Kevin
I'm so sorry you were taken advantage of like that, bro. 😞 I hope one day you can find a good workplace that allows you the safety to be a Steve once more.
Very touching... Kudos to both you and Steve!
You are a good human being Louis. I wish all the best for Steve's business in NY.
Louis I feel for you man because im going through this with a sister atm. Keep your head up, ignore all the "You have to get on with them because they are family" Those days are long gone, we live in a different world now and you should stay away from bad people.
This takes levels of integrty, awareness and sincerity which are unfanthomable for 99.99999% of people living currently. I'm on the other side of the fence - employee. I'm grateful for such video shown here. That's prime example on how to communicate with the world in the most correct way possible. Thank you Louis.
This video will help a lot of people.
Thank you for sharing your story about the pictures and Steve.
Your friend literally helped restore your damaged memory. That hits on several levels.
Be well.
This video is incredible & honest. Best of luck to Steve and thank you Louis for being a good human being
I'm 48 year old with my own company.
Your story really hits me.
There should be more employers (and people) like you.
Don't stop making content please.
thanks Louis, you are strong man. Some days I been feeling love isn't real but I guess it's worth trying maybe one more time
This makes me almost want to cry. God bless people like you and Steve! Not a lot of people so considerate like you guys now.
Sincerity and gratitude are in short supply these days. Thanks for expressing yours and in turn giving me a kick in the butt to get up from my computer and go and express mine to somebody right now. Keep doing what you are doing.
Louis Bossmann over here spitting facts, you and Steve are real ones
regarding the fotos.
You are awesome Louis ! God Bless
Point made and very well
4:51am getting ready for a hospital shift, putting a Louis video on, BAM! Waves of emotion.
this is so raw. this is the rawest onions being diced
Been watching for years and see you as a mentor and learned to push for better things even when things hit the fan
That's so touching and moving. Thanks, Steve! Thanks, Louis! :)
