As for why the firebenders died of suffocation first before the monk himself (who was first trapped within the vacuum), there are studies showing that people living in high altitudes have better lung capacity than the ones on lower altitudes due to their environment having less oxygen. No. Whenever an Avatar dies, the next one in the cycle is born. An Avatar is only in danger of becoming extinct if he/she is killed in the avatar state. That moment when you realize Jinora beat her grandpa in being the youngest airbending Master. EDIT: If you think that this comment was in any way some weird attempt to say that one show (ATLA or LOK) was superior please move along. I like both, and was just making a note of something.
Ikr? At least Aang made sense in the story that he was a master at a very young age, he was the Avatar. Jinora was a master because fuck you. The creators of the show can't just stop themselves in making terrible decisions.
I don't think Jinora being a very young master is that big of a conflict as every kid or grandkid of th team avatar seemed to be very skilled in their bending which makes sense since their parents were a highly skilled masters. Plus you do get the kid prodigy thing like with Azula, or Aang or even Toph. So I find this aspect one of the least strange in Korra.
Air bending is one of the most lethal Element. Monk gyatso defeated 15-20 firebenders during Sozins comet. 15-20 firebnders power was equal to 100-150 during sozins comet.
I'd say air bending is the second most powerful next to waterbending because with air bending you can literally suck the air out of someone with waterbending you can control them using blood bending
@@mmmmm_monke55 i agree with you but think about it korra defeated blood bending without avatar state, that means every human have potential of defeating blood bending, but air bender also can blow up apponents lungs
Imagine an air bender who is willing to attack and defend as much as any other bender of the other nations. They would arguably be the most dangerous benders in the world, as like the fire benders, they aren’t inhibited by whether any water or earth is within range of them. They could form intense tornadoes or theoretically hurricanes, there exists air swords in the canon already that could tear someone apart. They could probably even REMOVE the air around their enemies which would especially devastate firebenders, and if they took some tips and tricks from Sariel in the seven deadly sins manga/anime they could make air spheres around themselves that would shave projectiles and people coming towards them. Obviously these wouldn’t be easy feats to master but their potential is insane. We’ve even seen if willing they have the power to fly as effortlessly as bison.
Actually I dont think there can be much to say about flying... It was created by Guru Laghima thousands years before ATLA And TLOK And as I knew he spent his last 40 years of life not touching the ground. Zaheer was a very talented air bender He was able to show people that flying wasn t just a myth and he wasn t even an airbending master. So that s all i think you can say about flying since there s not to many informations in the show or comics
DeSTroYeR yeah I know all of that I’m just saying like all the other elements that have up grades earth which have two being Metal and lava with fire lightning, water blood bending now air flight
i’ve always found zaheer’s flight ability too contradicting for comfort. he achieved this extremely uncommon ability just after getting airbending, and certainly did not receive any spiritual training or guidance within air nomad culture. he did independently learn some of their traditions, but i don’t think that should suffice whatsoever. he might have been a good bender and attuned to the spirit world, but these traits should not have been enough. 🙈
Air and earth was always my favorite elements in the show because of how resourceful they are. I have been doing martial arts since I was 11 and a few years when I discovered what the martial arts the bending styles are based on, I implemented those styles to my own martial art skills.
I said I implement the martial art styles that are the elements are based off of. Like air is based on the martial Ba Gau and I love implement ba gau in the martial arts that I know
Air is just gaz, so it's not that resourceful. Fire is much more like heat, and superheated objects like lava can be used. Then water is steam, liquid, or ice, as well as in blood. The most resourceful is earth, with earth, stone, the stone in metal, maybe even in bones, lava, sand, mud.
Airbenders and airbending is so underrated. When my friends and I play avatar everyone wants to be fire bender or the other nations. Sometimes my friends who chose air often got teased or called lame because they're airbenders... 'Tis a shame indeed.
Your videos are great, but PLEASE learn the correct name pronunciations: Guru Pathik (pa-TEEK) Amon (ah-MON) Monk Gyatso (ghee-AT-so) Iroh (EYE-row) Thank you.
I had this theory, we all know what happened in the ep. The Storm and it's just like how Aang got himself and Appa in an iceberg. In the storm ep the avatar state activated bcs he's in genuine danger and at that time Aang didn't know how to control it yet. Then he created an airbubble (i think) and get them out of the water and flew of to the eye of the storm. Why didn't he/the avatar state/the past avatars did the same when the same thing happened with him and Appa a 100 years ago? I think because they knew Aang wouldn't survive against the fire nation at that time and it would be too risky if he fights them all without knowing how to bend the other 3 elements and just rely on the avatar state, cause you know if they're killed in the avatar state the cycle would end, so instead they/he just froze himself and Appa and wait until the right moment.
8:15 That disadvantage from airbending, can be easily be overcome by stop being peaceful (he can still be spiritual like Zaheer and don´t lose power). Unlike the other bendings, airbending has practically 0 disadvantages, it only has restrictions imposed by the bender himself
I real loved this show as a child. I never missed an episode in 2006; I rewatched it on Netflix which I do not regret it and the quality was much better. I just wish that they added more seasons to the show instead of making the Legend of Korra , honestly we would have like 6 season and continuing.
exactly, it just seemed so random and forced. It would just make sense for those airbenders to appear naturally over time since some most likely have airbending in their blood from an ancestor or something
@@iamabitch5643 no. the airbenders who had escaped the air temples when the fire nation attacked was lured into a mountain with some airbender relics and then they killed them. so having them appear naturally in korras time is impossible.
harmonic convergence makes total sense, ALL the avatar franchise is based on balance, but where is the balance if there are only 4 airbenders in the entire world?
Tbh Wan story just contradict the legend of Flying Byson. The way you said is half the truth and hiding fact. people who already inherited Air Bending from The lion Turtle were just an ancestor of the air bender according to the wan story if you go by that logic they even explain people had to learn the bending technique how they use it other wise it was just a mere given power. The legend of Korra just contradict the whole original series is just bummer for me.
yeah, agreed... i really want to like legend of korra but it feels like there are too many holes in the lore, or ill fitted lore. also don’t like what they did with the spirits, they kinda look like pokemon and lose the eeriness, otherworldly feel to them. and the whole good/bad dynamic... to each their own though
The best way it works for me is by thinking that The Lion Turtles gave their residents the ability of pyro, geo, hydro, and aerokinesis, but *bending* the elements requires teaching and studying the respective masters, the dragons, badger moles, moon, and flying bison. This can be seen with Wan, he could shoot fire, but only after learning The Dancing Dragon from the Spirit Oasis could he *firebend* . It's as if the Lion Turtle could give a mute man the ability to speak, but only the original benders could teach him to sing.
The lack of fatel finishing attacks? Well one is enought and suffocating someone in a vacuum seams pretty fatal. But because they are usually peacefull thats just not a thing they would do
we need a blind airbender. Toph uses the vibrations of the *earth* . the blind airbender can use the vibrations of the air to walk and airbend. idk where i heard this but airbenders can react to sudden movement by the wat the air hits them. i don’t think this would ever happen but it would’ve been cool
Airbenders would be gods if knowing moves like: Air Block: Create a block of air and push it Towards an opponent Air blade Just... Make a blade of air and send it An enhancement to the air block would be that it could seperate into other blocks and surround an enemy Gust??? The airbender could create a tornado of sorts and the close you are to them the more intense the wind would push you THEY COULD LITERALLY SUFFOCATE SOMEONE IF THE SO PLEASE Another move that would look cool would be a dome of sorts that has such intense winds not even rocks can pierce it.
I was just wondering, there are 4 states of matter (originally 3 until Plasma got added). There is Solid, Liquid, Gas, and Plasma. Then there are 4 General Types of Bending. There is Earthbending, Waterbending, Airbending, and then Firebending. What if this signifies that a type of Bending can manipulate it's respective state of matter. Like Plasma for Firebending since Fire and Lightning's state of matter is Plasma, Solid for Earthbending because obvious reasons, Liquid for Waterbending and Gas for Airbending. This could open up so many possibilities especially for Firebending, if Azula was able to pack a ball of energy using Lightning Manipulation in the comics, what if someone goes farther beyond and creates an Ion Energy Sphere and Laser out of there hands? They'll basically become a walking Plasma Cannon.
That's make sense. But i think to achieve those crazy technique, the benders should understand about matters and elements. Oh dont forget in ATLK, Toph -an earthbender- can control liquid (mercury), ghazan and bolin can lavabend. So i think a type of bending can manipulate different matter as long as that matter got the element needed
They why was Aang's granddaughter's head fully shaved in the series: The Legend of Korra?? See 6:47 for reference when females were to only sport shaved fodeheads
I think it would have been a better idea if Instead of the Air nomads being completely destroyed that they went into hiding. I feel that the story would’ve been a lot more interesting. i just can’t see how an entire race of benders can be completely killed off even if they were pacifist

Maybe that spirit would be passed down to his children, and then after four cycles his decedents could be air benders. There would eventually be a new air bender regardless of the genocide they faced.

You forgot to mention Afiko, the betrayer of the air nomads:
Afiko, known as the Betrayer, was an airbender from the Southern Air Temple. he grew jealous when Aang's identity as the Avatar was announced. Envious, Afiko betrayed his people by revealing the temple's location to the Fire Nation, after which the country's army raided it during the Air Nomad Genocide. Made notorious by this betrayal, Afiko was charged with treason in 5 AG and later executed by decree of Fire Lord Sozin.

Ikr? At least Aang made sense in the story that he was a master at a very young age, he was the Avatar. Jinora was a master because fuck you. The creators of the show can't just stop themselves in making terrible decisions.
@@Angglio Why would you gripe on this? .. Aang created the freaking air scooter
@@Angglio calm tf down, jinora was able to project her body and she had a very strong connection to the spirits
@@hunterss3017 that's Is true airbending is really good defensively and offensively
At least only air bending can face another element in everywhere not depend a place.
All elements have the same power level
@@colin7062 not really as strong as this, the only element that could counter this power is blood bending.

i’ve always found zaheer’s flight ability too contradicting for comfort. he achieved this extremely uncommon ability just after getting airbending, and certainly did not receive any spiritual training or guidance within air nomad culture. he did independently learn some of their traditions, but i don’t think that should suffice whatsoever. he might have been a good bender and attuned to the spirit world, but these traits should not have been enough.

Hm.. No images of the Air Benders from back in Wan's time. Those Air Benders flew on clouds and lived on a Flying Lion Turtle.
Just a reminder..
I haven't even watched it yet, and I already love it.
U NEVER WATCHED ATLA

8:15 That disadvantage from airbending, can be easily be overcome by stop being peaceful (he can still be spiritual like Zaheer and don´t lose power). Unlike the other bendings, airbending has practically 0 disadvantages, it only has restrictions imposed by the bender himself
I real loved this show as a child. I never missed an episode in 2006; I rewatched it on Netflix which I do not regret it and the quality was much better. I just wish that they added more seasons to the show instead of making the Legend of Korra , honestly we would have like 6 season and continuing.
I swear to God they ruined the show with the sudden appearance of the air benders
exactly, it just seemed so random and forced.

It's as if the Lion Turtle could give a mute man the ability to speak, but only the original benders could teach him to sing.
should avatar be canceled for having white voice actors play Asian characters?
Not most of them are white though, the voice actor of Zuko and Iron are Asians. some other characters does have asian voice actors but appear little
The lack of fatel finishing attacks?
Well one is enought and suffocating someone in a vacuum seams pretty fatal.
But because they are usually peacefull thats just not a thing they would do

please learn how to pronounce the names of of the characters.
Does airbending have a sub element to bend like fire has lightning, earth has metal bending, and water has blood bending
This must be sad when he was the only Airbenders left
we need a blind airbender. Toph uses the vibrations of the *earth* . the blind airbender can use the vibrations of the air to walk and airbend. idk where i heard this but airbenders can react to sudden movement by the wat the air hits them. i don’t think this would ever happen but it would’ve been cool
Just started watching these videos yesterday, good to know ur still making more
Rewatching the LoK series, I noticed that the air nomads on the lion-turtle didn't have arrow tattoos, their tattoos ends flat with a dot at the end
Another reason I love the air nomads: they pretty are Spider-Man with an air based spider sense.
Airbenders would be gods if knowing moves like:
Air Block:
Create a block of air and push it
Towards an opponent
Air blade
Just... Make a blade of air and send it
An enhancement to the air block would be that it could seperate into other blocks and surround an enemy
Gust???
The airbender could create a tornado of sorts and the close you are to them the more intense the wind would push you
THEY COULD LITERALLY SUFFOCATE SOMEONE IF THE SO PLEASE
Another move that would look cool would be a dome of sorts that has such intense winds not even rocks can pierce it.
I’m sad about meelo we need a new show with a meelo reincarnate
Air benders could be the strongest benders if they weren’t so nice they can literally bend the air out of ppls lungs
I just finished rewatching both the avatar the last air bender and the legend of Korra and I think legend of korra was my favorite
