    This is such an eye-opening video! It’s so interesting to see how incomes vary across different regions and circumstances. It really puts things into perspective and makes you think about what ‘average’ really means in today’s economy. Do you think income comparisons are helpful for motivation, or do they create unnecessary pressure?

      I completely agree! It’s fascinating to see those differences, but I also wonder if comparing incomes just leads to more stress instead of inspiration

      Save save save.... Invest aggressively if you have the appetite.. Take advantage of the crazy power of compounding... Do not fall into the trap of acquiring depreciating assets (luxury cars, designer clothes etc) unless you can afford it.. OK to indulge once in a while though...

    Makes a huge difference on where you live as to what standard of living you can live at. You would be living substandard in California or New York on 60k. At one time, you could live fairly well on 60k annual household income in many states. Real estate, food, insurance, medical costs, utilities, and car prices have sky rocketed due to a government inflicted economy crash. The dream seams to be slipping further and faster away. As an example, our health insurance went up 14 percent, but our income cost of living increase was about 3 percent. I don't know anybody that gets an annual 14 percent raise. A tool for my business that I bought last year for $239, one year later costs $399. It is becoming more and more difficult for people to destroy the enemy (debt), but keep the good advice coming. I started a side hustle 24 years ago and never stopped. Has tax advantages too.

      By NY, you mean NYC, not the rest of the state. In many places north of Rockland/Westchester counties, you can have a good life with an income of $60K. It is a pipe dream in places like Otsego County, or that is 2 people working for one household. Of course, if you live in Albany or any of the major state cities, you might need a little more, but for most of the state, 60K/yr is a lot of income.

    • @bakedvegan6379

      I live in Westchester county and 60k is not affordable. And I live on a budget 😅

    • @gibblespascack1418
      @gibblespascack1418 10 днів тому +1

      @@bakedvegan6379 No, it is impossible to live comfortably in Westchester on 60K. We lived in Rockland County, same thing. there are too many people who work in NYC and live there and that pushes up the price of everything. But go north, Putnam and Orange counties and it becomes possible to live on 60K and head north and west and it becomes a lot easier as you get out into farm country. The metro Albany area, it would be difficult, but not impossible to live on 60K. In the area up past Albany, and I live on less than 60k.

    I would think NET WORTH (assets you own, clean and clear) is a more appropriate measure of wealth ? Income is indeed very temporary but is a means to build wealth.

    I don’t even think class matters at this point. Class should be decided on your networth and only add your house when it’s paid off cause you have hidden cost with a house which everyone ignores

    Where I live;
    Upper Class is $300,000/mo you're RICH
    Middle Class $60,000/yr you're poor
    Lower Class McDonald's pay - you're living with mom and dad with a car payment and insurance that eats all you pay, you're in poverty.

    On a different, very serious note, I have a query to share which I’ve also communicated with other Ramsey personal via their video comment sections: Do you have any advice for your Canadian neighbours whom Trump is now repeatedly threatening? We want to neither be thrown into an economic abyss nor do we wish to become the 51st state. Thanks in advance for any insight. Sincerely, A fan from Canada

    EDIT: It looks like they've renamed the video title, so my comment isn't fully relevant anymore.
    This video should be taken down. It's wildy wrong with the numbers. You aren't comparing the 'average family' You are comparing the 'average middle-class' family, which is a niche definition defined by pew research.. This is not the median or average income of all households in America..
    I looked at Pew Research.. This is VERY misleading.
    First off, it describes the middle class from the lower 30% to the upper 81%. So it's effectively shifting the entire curve up close to 6%..
    Middle class, by definition, should be the middle class from a wealth standpoint..
    The income percentile in the 40-60% range also doesn't change significantly, due to the nature of bell curves, so even the 106k figure is wrong, it should be closer to 80-90k household income for the 56th percentile. Which would be the median in that range group.
    It sounds like they surveyed data, rather than using government provided data, their method sucks and it shouldn't be used in this videos context without full disclaimers of what the data actually represents.
    I am considered upper class by all these measures so it doesn't affect me, but it will make the audience feel behind because they are being told the median is effectively 25k more than it is.

    Is it just me, or does the middle class average seem to be wildly large? I honestly thought households aren’t seen as middle class until the minimum income is more than about $120k.

      @nae4830 13 днів тому

    • @Lolatyou332
      @Lolatyou332 13 днів тому

      I looked at the pew research they used, it's not accurate in this videos context, effectively the 'median' is the 56th percentile in their report. Even for the 56th percentile, I even think the number in general is wrong or is self-reported through surveys rather than government provided data.
      It would mean that the ENTIRE population on MEDIAN has gotten almost a 30% pay raise from 2023 -> 2024. This is probably why you don't have rich people make videos on average / median familys.. This would immediately pop out as a red flag when suddenly more than half the population is now suddenly making over 6 figures.
