The most encouraging talk I've seen recently - thank you both! I like how Dawn is so humble and profound. Her wisdom is livable, she is so down to earth, practical, she makes mistakes, acknowledges them and move on. She is a true influencer.
Looove dawn, I started minimizing my home bc of her and I feel soo great. Over 6 months in and my home is manageable now. Thank you Rachel and dawn for this
Dawn is awesome ❤ Thank you, Dawn, that your 14-year-old said she doesn’t feel like she’s missing out (and in fact she likes having a simpler life!). That’s so reassuring and encouraging - we don’t have to over-program our kids 😊
Omg I’ve watched hundreds of hours of Dawn and I don’t think I’ve ever seen her cry! What a sweet soul. Thanks for everything, my two favorite ladies!!!
It’s hard to explain this but even at 62 with 34 year old son, you STILL have these same thoughts/ problems . That sounds old when you are you girls age, but believe me it doesn’t feel it when you get here. Great video ! On baby step 2 ( again ) 😩 but very close to being out now. We started late but are trying to get as far as we can . My comment isn’t meant to be negative ( in case it sounds that way) I just wanted to say that there are new things at my age that make you feel like younger Moms feel, but there is still hope and watching these kinds of videos really helps me feel better ❤
Thank you for this! It is so encouraging to hear that Dawn started the debt-free journey more than once and failed. We are the same and about to reset and start again. I've felt like such a failure and so hopeless. This gives me a new energy to start again and finish! I know that I know that being debt-free is right and righteous and I'm so excited to hit that finish line and begin to live!
Rachel, since I’ve found your channel, you have helped me understand finances in a way that I never did before. I am 76, retired, empty nested single mom for 50 years having also raised a special needs grandchild. Then there was Dawn. She has guided me through so much of life’s challenges and the art and satisfaction of minimalism. I am working on becoming debt free. Another favorite UA-camr is Kate Kaden. I am so grateful for the inspiration I get from UA-cam, I wish it was around years ago. I am a Home Economist, I grasp all the things that are presented and validate so many of the things I know but needed to be reinforced in my life. Thank you for all that you do.
What a combo! This is great.. im so glad this sort of information is becoming more accessible and also specifically for women. Great to see some strong female leaders ⭐️
My husband drives a used 2015 CRV that we paid cash for last year. We’ve been debt free since 2021 and when he left his job that provided him a (brand new) truck, we need a vehicle and didn’t want to go back to a car note. He would much rather be driving around in a truck again, but we know this is temporary and he can buy a truck again once we can save up for it and he’s more settled in his job (it’s 100% commission).
Also, take negative people out. That's another way of decluttering. If you can't remove them, ex father in law, just limit your time and conversations (phone) etc. You really start to feel better and have time to declutter or make better other things in your life... And you don't have their negativity in your life (or effecting your priorities).
Love you both! This was an excellent conversation. I have been broke to the point of gathering up spare change for parking fees to attend one of my kid’s events to having a year’s worth of living expenses in the bank. I had terrible FOMO while raising my kids and always felt behind. I was thrifty though and shopped at thrift stores and was the queen of finding all the free events in our city. As my kids grew older the FOMO subsided since they had their own interests and it wasn’t just up to me to pick “the best” activities for them. They tell me now they had the best childhood ever so that warms my heart. I am now decluttering my empty nest along the lines of Swedish Death Cleaning. I do not want to leave my kids with a ton of random stuff to dig through. I am finding the decluttering quite freeing. I enjoy having less inventory to manage. My things should serve me not preoccupy my time and thoughts.
Good advice. My stuff doesn’t stress me. However, social media and news are the things that I have eliminated from my life. What peace I have found! I enjoy growth subjects on UA-cam, but Facebook, instagram, and twitter are gone!
This made me tear up a few times, on this journey for a few years now and absolutely needed to hear this. Powerful inspiration. You ladies are role models in every positive way. Thank you.
I love Dawn, her advice is like having a wise best friend to help you through! Your chats together are like a huge sigh or relief, you make everything feel better! ❤
Hearing Dawn say it took 3 times to seriously pursue the baby steps to get debt free makes me feel more normal in the debt free mindset, because I started the baby steps in 2008 or 2009. I had started on baby step 3 then fell off the debt free wagon and didn't save the 3-6 months of expenses. Though I didn't get back into debt until the first year of the pandemic and so I am now at baby step 2 again. But my mind, my thought process, my heart is different now. And as Dave always says, you have to be sick and tired of being sick and tired. And I am sick and tired of not being able to do the upkeep or repairs around my house or go on vacation with my adult children because we didn't get to while they were young. So I am sick and tired of not being able to enjoy what God has blessed me with and being able to give like I used to. I am sick and tired of not having a firm goal and following a path to get to it. Thank you for continuing to encourage to make goals, make a plan, follow the plan and meet my goals once and for all. Not only will I be able to enjoy what God gives me but I will get to bless others and when the time comes retire with dignity. Possibly being the first to do so in my family as I see how my mom dad and siblings are with their money or lack of because of poor planning.
My 2 favorite ladies!! Thank you for doing this- too funny cuz I just messaged Dawn about this stuff last week with the finances. Thank you for your insights gals in all areas of finances and Decluttering- it truly helps! Our goal is 2.5-3 years to have the rest of our debt paid; we’ve done it before, we can do it again! 👏🏻
Two of my FAV ladies! Thank you both so much for your insight and encouragement!!!! God Bless you both! I appreciate you so very much!!! My hubby and I MUST write down what we want for our family's future. Great tip!
Congratulations ladies this was an awesome video!! So motivational and inspiring. How true what Dawn stated about unfollowing those IG and FB accounts that encourage us to buy buy buy!! I have unfollowed many great people who do nothing but put out what I call "infomercials". The constant showing of what we should buy and try. I know they make money from sponsors but some are over the top. How many supplements can a person take!! and how many vacuums can one buy LOL.....Rachel and Dawn you are a great team and I hope your put out more of these types of videos as they are truly great!! Thank you both!!
14:20 late 90s I worked with someone whose entire paycheck went towards their truck payment (which was twice as much as my house payment, which I had totally paid off by 1999), they also, worked an extra job, as well as their spouse. That truck has long since been scrapped.
Love Dawn! I’m pretty minimal but can work on some stuff, this encourages me. Also we’re going through baby steps 👍 love Ramsey show and personalities, y’all have truly blessed me and I love “surrounding” myself around y’all. Folks the Lord would want me to “be around” and listen to ❤
Ahhhh …. I am in Heaven hangin out with you & Dawn ! Two lovely ladies ! So smart, dynamic, kind… and did I mention pretty , too ? Love you both ! Liz in Buffalo
Think for example, of all the hair products out there. I have managed to pare it down to just ONE product: a natural shampoo bar which I order from an eco friendly website. That is IT! And my hair is all the better for it. People often remark on how nice my hair looks. Can you also believe I have not been to a hairdresser for 5 years! Since lockdowns I started trimming my own hair and it seems to work and it saves me a ton of money!
This is a great video, I learn a lot watching your videos and it has been helpful to me. Building a steady income is quite difficult for newbies.. Thanks to Mrs. Debra Hindman for improving my portfolio. keep up with the good videos.
l also invest with mrs Debra Hindman, she charges a 20% commission on the profit made after each trading session, which is fair compared to the effort she put in to make huge profits.
My first investment in mrs. Debra Hindman gave me the confidence that led me to invest without fear of loss. I have already taken 3 of my friends to their guide and they are fine.
Trying to tackle this and “dive in” .. trying to figure out if I should just donate items or put a yard sale together in a few months for cash towards debt? I’m overwhelmed w multiple things in life in general and don’t know if I will actually “put the yard sale together”.
I see people that have garage sales.. It is all the stuff they have bought at Walmart or where ever for the last year.Obviously they did not need that stuff. A good idea is to every time I think I need or want something, like say a 25 dollar whatever, just put it in a savings account. I spent it to myself. Sounds trite but it works.
We had a job my mom and i. She was a cook for a convelecent hospital harder than washing laundry for a full hospital. She weighed. 75 pounds. I was 100 i picked up tubs of commercial soap that weighed 50 pounds. She got polio 5 years before. Stong will to help those beautiful souls. Thanks mom. Your still here. 87.
Great show. Love Dawn! As a couple who are not experienced in "goal setting," I would be interested to know what you put on your goal list? I'm sure this tends to be very individual-based but thinking there are some good general goals to get us started?
It’s crazy how our our mentality are different from each other’s I’ve always looked at how I can make my life easier always been my goal cause at the end of day it’s only me doing the work
I drive a vehicle provided to me by work with gas, insurance, and maintenance fully covered by them, the downfall is that it is stamped with their logo. I am surprised that my girls don't seem to mind. I was so worried when I decided to make that my work AND personal vehicle and sold off my primary vehicle. Kids are a lot more resilient then we think.
I hate to complain but I find it annoying that the camera keeps going in and out on Rachel . I don't know what the reason is. Maybe to keep our attention but .....I know I am not the only one who says this.
Social media is so toxic. People pretend to have money but in reality, they are in debt. The cycle continues when someone jealous do the same thing to look rich. This is how the US consumer debt is in the trillions
Almost everyone, including the media, is anticipating a market catastrophe, and as a result, many are turning a blind eye to the opportunities in the market. I recently began investing in stocks and cryptocurrency, and it was the best choice I've ever made. If you genuinely want to be financially secure, disregard everything the media is suggesting. The market offers a lot of chances. Maximize your use of it.
I love the grounded reality of this channel!!!, Despite the recession, I'm so happy withdrawing $230K monthly profit out of my investment I can now afford anything and also support Charity Organizations.
Dawn is such a gifted encourager. Her empathy and genuine character really shines. Thanks for having her on. She is so humble. 🙏🏻
Dawn is sooo humble and caring ❤

"I can't live in Overwhelm Town" ..... "I'm not going to save the world, or ruin the world with any one decision." Love, Dawn
I’m a huge fan of Dawn! She is right, you shouldn’t compare yourself to others
Any psycholohist will tell you “ comparison is the thief of joy”
I love this duo! I'll watch anything with Dawn 😁
I agree!
Me too!
Same!
SAME !

Dawn is so inspiring to me! Great conversation ladies!!
I have gotten out of debt (except my mortgage), have much less stuff than 3 years ago and still feel overwhelmed. I hope too soon not to be.

Preach it!!! Love you two! Thanks for the shot of confidence this morning.

Yes, marketing and consumerism is out of control. Ziglar taught me to write down goals to achieve them. He was a huge inspiration.

I keep seeing these mega nice houses in our area go contingent; so someone has a ton of money to buy them
Or just a ton of debt, who knows.
