Please watch the James Cameron movie "TRUE LIES"! (It's also with Arnold.)
I second that recommendation.
True Lies 🔥👍🔥
Yes yes yes yes fantasticly underrated movie
Agreed
Kindergarten Cop is one of Arnold’s best
Robert Patrick deserves so much more appreciation for the effort he put into his role. The dude conditioned himself to run and fight without blinking and visible breathing, and he was so scary fast.
He was very good.👌
So fast he even caught up with John's bike in the first few takes!
I'm a commercial pilot. He was on my flight 4 days ago. He was mobbed by almost everyone on the plane.
@@phila3884 What a beautiful thing! Thank You.
Robert Patrick was so fast he kept catching him on the dirt bike.
I had the pleasure of working with Robert Patrick a few years ago on a shoot. He was one of the most genuine sweetest guys. He offered to help me with unloading the lighting truck, hung out with us below the line people at lunch, and when his granddaughter came to visit on set went around and introduced her to all of us individually
That's so cool to hear, thanks for sharing that.
What production was this?
There is a rule in life with no exception on my side so far: The guys who play the worst, scariest vilains on screen are absolute teddy bears in real life 😍.
Sounds like he was a fun guy and not full of hollywood ego.
fun fact about robert patrick. his chasing scene where he runs after conner on his bike... he was really running it after and he was way too fast... he beated the bike and has to slower his run for this scene xDDD... this man is a machine... in real...
Dyson was a good man. He was a genius who wanted to make the world better. When he realized the truth, he risked, and then sacrificed his life to make it better... the fact that the secondary antagonist, wasn't an antagonist at all is part of the brilliance of this movie.
Yeah, evil bad company man trope would have been sooooo tiresome. Genius decision really.
There are bits/pieces that's omitted from the movie I think Cameron purposely did. We don't know the 'full' story and may never learn.
Such as:
John must have known Kyle Reese was his father growing up being told about him. Whatever the year, it's obvious Sara wasn't present in the future.
Why these specific dates to target Sara & John? Other than a birthdate as I stated before, could have been a week, month or year earlier. Why that specific date for both sides? How would these androids computers know anything about Conner? Did they torture him or, someone on the insides was an android?
Interesting Kyle didn't explain exactly the Apocalyptic event & date.
Connor touches a portion of T-1000s arm. Why didn't anything become of it in that movie? Could be later?
How if Sara was off the grid, did she know about the arm being taken & reverse engineered? It would be very secretive to avoid espionage & spies of foreign governments know such as Area 51. How did she know?
T-1000 was communicating directly with the machines. How? Wifi wasn't started yet. Did he manage to do this & also give the various computer systems malware, rather a way to communicate scientists weren't aware of yet?
@@venus5019 alot of what you bring up here, i am failing to see how it has any bearing on the movie at all. T1000 communicating with what exactly?
Connor touching an arm is supposed to mean what?
@@Musabre I'm not going to continue a discussion with someone trying to be ignorant. Bearing?
Have no clue whatsoever I'm referring to and are trying to get a rise being mean, condescending & ignorant.
This isn't the first time for any of what I wrote was questioned by fans. It's nothing strange.
Never answered how did Sara know about Dyson re-engineering the arm? IT NEVER STATES IT! All we know is she's trying to destroy it. Question did they stop it? NO!
It's one of those 'Back To The Future' situations that triggers thought. Dyson re-engineers the technology from the arm including the chip. That chip is significant, because unknown to Dyson is instrumental in establishing the network that crashes the entire computer systems of the world by controlling them causing a nuclear strike literally at same time.
I don't know if willing to comprehend, what if that arm didn't exist? How would it alter the future of the world? There's no apocalypse as no virus or issue caused the overtaking of the computer systems. It had to be done for this Terminator to come back in time to leave the arm to set it up.
The T-1000 communicates barely speaks can easily use any computer system without thinking it through. He hears police car dispatches nowhere near the vehicle he used as well as can ID license plates. Cell phones use wi-fi and have 5G network; this is the future, so it's far more advanced.
Somehow T-1000 is able to create this connection to all electronic/computer networks like the Borg from Star trek. T-1000 is interacting with computers at a faster & faster rate throughout the entire movie. All through the movie, we see how it can sense bodies & specifically Sara's & John's.
How did he get to the mental health asylum? He had no map. How did he locate Sara within the institution no one took him to her room. How did he get to the motel? There was no complaints or police dispatches regarding where they were.
At that particular point in time, semis were not that fast & able to be that steady having weighted tailers that shifted weight, typically causing fish tail & rollovers. Did anyone realize what T1 did so is T2? Such as driving semis?
Yes it's CGI & special stunt equipment, but those trucks shouldn't have been able to have been that swift, agile & fast when have loads. T-1000 infused them somehow with speed & agility.
Difference between these 2 androids?
Terminator uses it's memory chip to learn how to drive a machine, T-1000 just does it automatically as in sync with the machine.
Pay phone? Terminator smashes the coins holder, T-1000 can initiate the call without any assistance.
T-1000 jumped from the parking garage on a motorcycle jumping towards the helicopter. Managed to get on, never really looked at the controls mastering them simply by thinking while chasing after them. He was shooting & piloting the helicopter at simultaneously, what action movie seen doing that? Why? Need both hands to balance a helicopter or crash.
@@venus5019 Was an honest question, im sorry the internet has you too brain broken to trust someone might be asking in good faith. Im not wasting time with your tl:dr, so maybe chill the fuck out in future if you want to have a back and forth.
The reaction when you realize that Arnold is the good guy is priceless!
Unfortunately those of us who were around when T2 came out went in knowing Arnold was the good guy.
@@omegathelast2347 Right! The first trailer left it ambiguous enough, but by the time the film came out some marketing idiot had the stupid idea that they should show that Arnold was the good guy in later trailers, so we were all spoiled on that tidbit going in.
@@omegathelast2347 I had the opposite experience. I was 12 when T2 came out and had never seen the first movie. My mom took me to see T2 and thought it was great. Much to my surprise when I finally watched The Terminator, Arnold was the villain.
@@omegathelast2347 Depends on how early you saw the movie.
The ending monologue by Sarah is the only time a film made me feel-ASHAMED.If a terminator,a machine can learn the value of human life, maybe we can too.OUCH. That HURT.My head with down with-SHAME.
As a 40 year old, that grew up watching this movie, it's so rewarding to watch younger generations surprised by the twist
I don't know how some people got to go so long without knowing major movies twists, I feel like most from any big movie before the 2000s was just already so widespread in pop culture when I was growing up so a lot I don't even know how I knew but I did.
Probably biggest example I've never seen someone watch star wars not knowing that Vader in lukes father, everyone knows the line "I am your father"
I would love to see it again unspoilered, it's such great filmmaking! you get to know who the good guy is exactly at the same time as the main character...
Forgive me for nitpicking, but the fact that you seem to care about punctuation, as evinced by your attempt with commas, I just wanted to let you know that both are unnecessary and incorrectly used. Your sentence doesn't need any punctuation aside from a period or exclamation mark at the end (I realized there was nothing there a second ago lol) and, though technically not incorrect, it would be better to say "who grew up watching this movie" since your noun is a person. If it were a place of thing, your using the word 'that' would work better, as would 'which'. That concludes our mini grammar lesson for the time being. Hope I didn't come off as snobbish or condescending, I just couldn't help but chime in. Hope you found it informative and useful as I'd originally intended to be 🤗
@@pyrettablaze86 English is not my first language, thanks for the input
I know. Being 43 years old seeing younger generations enjoying what brings back memories for me does feel refreshing they enjoy different movies from my childhood experiences.
Robert Patrick is the unsung hero of this film. I love Arnold, but Patrick as T-1000 really sold it. Both him and Linda, and the practical effects teams, gave some of the greatest performances in film-making history.
My only problem is they made Robert Patrick TOO likeable and the Movie suffers the 60's batman curse making the baddie more likeable and exciting then the heroes
As a 10 year-old boy in 1991, this movie was EVERYTHING when it came out. Went with my mom, uncle, brother and cousin to see it opening day… Wow. First of all, it is a near perfect action suspense film. It packs a story with compelling relationships and emotion… a terrifying and demoralizing villain who seems unbeatable, an is in pursuit from early in act 1, and does not let up…
But more then anything else, what blew us all away, was the visual effects 😮
This was before Jurassic Park, and the effects on the T-1000 had never been seen in any way compared to what we saw in this movie.
If you were a ten year old kid in 1981 your ultimate villain was Darth Vader
But in 1991 our ultimate bad guy was the T-1000.
Great reaction as always 😊
born in 1982 so... ALL THIS
I'm your age as well, and the special effects blew my mind when I first saw it in 1991. CGI was a new concept and when Jurassic Park came out two years later it took it to another level.
questionable tale given the age rating
@@hustler666100 did you not read the part where I said I went with my mom and my uncle?… aka accompanied by a parent or guardian… I guess you don’t understand how those ratings work.
@@JU5TINPDX yeah i read that. Guess it worked different back then
One of the more subtle, spectacular bits of acting is the on-foot chase scenes with the T-1000. Robert Patrick specifically trained repetitive sprints (breathing exclusively through his nose) before filming so that he could sell the "I'm running at 20+mph with zero visible effort/strain/breathing" thing across multiple takes. It's such a small detail that adds so much to the credibility that it really is a machine chasing a kid down. Huge respect to the man for putting in the real work for the sake of the details.
Even better, he kept outrunning the bike and had to slow down so he wouldn't catch up to it.
I read somewhere that Robert Patrick also trained himself not to blink when firing (blanks) because the T-1000 would obviously ignore the sound and flash of gunfire. Serious commitment to the role.
@@navarrduphoenixx THANK YOU dude I remembered he had trained something else weird for the role but I couldn't remember what to save my life when making the initial comment
@@protojager actually hilarious at the idea of how unsettling that must have been for Connor's actor. Imagine youre ripping away on a dirt bike and you turn around and this guy is *fully expresionless* sprinting at you AND he is gaining ground. Like even knowing that its part of the scene its gotta still trip some uncanney valley stuff
He is fantastic in everything I have ever seen him in. Even in a cheesy tv show Scorpions.
The nuclear blast in Sarah's dream is widely regarded as the most accurate depiction of what it would really be like as shown in a movie
My late sister was a weapons tech in the Navy (built bombs). She confirmed that it was as accurate a depiction as could be done in films at that time.
The playground scene... That was her twin sister (the younger Sarah with the little boy... which was her actual son in real life).
Yep, reminds me of the training films I saw back in ROTC. The Day After TV movie was pretty good too. I rewatched it recently, since we're in danger of "going into the light" again.
Minutes before I saw the notification, I had just finished watching T2 with my 8yr grandson. I believe in discussing the finer meanings with my family members. There's time in the future to tell them to shhhhhh 😊 Now, at this age....
It's time to get them into the habit of not watching mindlessly. We had already discussed the opening intro and the playground 😊 and so, when the dream started. We already had an open discussion.
All the while.... never leaving out the fact.... This Movie Is Cool 😎
How fast do your vocal chords burn out tho? She was screaming till almost bones.
Fun Fact: in the car chase and bike chase, where the T-1000 runs on foot, they actually had to re-shoot the scenes multiple times because Robert Patrick was running so fast that he was catching up to the car and bikes every single time, the producers even had to tell him to slow his running down
I'm not surprised considering they were driving in reverse.
That's not "ra "re-shoot." That's just additional takes. And it wouldn't be the producers working to get the speed right. That's the director, James Cameron.
30 years after I first saw this movie, the ending still destroys me every time "👍"
Another few fun facts: Both Linda Hamilton and the Security guard getting coffee in the institution have twin siblings, so their twins were used in the movie when both Sarah and the guard were on screen with their 'duplicates'. No camera tricks needed for those scenes. Also, scientists praised T2 for the most accurate depiction of a nuclear bomb explosion put to film at that time.
RIP Leslie Hamilton.
@@adambomb138 She is still alive.
@@nathandc Linda Hamilton is still alive, but her twin sister, Leslie Hamilton, passed away a couple of years ago.
@@sceneitfan awww i had no idea her twin died so sad
“Leslie Hamilton lived in Mount Laurel, N.J., for 35 years, working as a nurse first in an emergency room and later in hospice care, according to her obituary. She’s survived by Linda, their brother Ford, sister Laura, step-brother Jeffrey, three children and two grandchildren. Her cause of death was never made public.
10:19 Robert Patrick ran him down on that bike so often for this sequence James Cameron had to ask him to slow down. Patrick’s speed was *that* legit, and fueled the atmosphere of fear.
Yeah, he was fast! He also trained himself not to blink or breath through his mouth while running to look more robotic. He even taught himself to not flinch when shooting guns. Supposedly, he won his audition for the part by just sitting there, staring unblinking.
Robert Patrick did such a good job in this movie, I worry to this day that if I ever saw him in real life, I would want to take a swing at him!! 😬😆
He's so good at playing a bad guy! His recent role in the Peacemaker series was even more infuriating than T2 if that's even possible. He's looking rather different these days, but still killing it as a bad guy!
Absolutely, T1000 es the most terrifying terminator in all this franchise.
In the feature commentary on the special edition DVD James Cameron said that Robert Patrick, in one take, even ran up and tapped the motorcycle rider (stunt man) on the shoulder, he was THAT fast!!!
For a movie that was made in 1991, the special effects still hold up well. The effects were ground braking back then.
They were. I was 10 when I saw it in 1991 and we just haden't seen special effects like this before. The T-1000 was out of this world. One the greatest action movies ever.
The thing, T-1000 and Sherlock Holmes glass ghost were first CGI creations but what Broke movie industry was Jurassic Park
2023 and it's still ground breaking.
One thing I appreciated about T2 is how it shows the T-800 learns to become more human and more compassionate while, at the same time, Sarah becomes more emotionally detached and mission-driven, like a Terminator.
Linda Hamilton was in full beast mode & no one was ready! Loved being in the theater & getting everyone's first reaction. Such a great movie!
That club to the orderly's face! I mean, dude was a creeper and totally had it coming, but I'm pretty sure we see teeth go flying from that hit. He's gonna have a fun time at the dentist.
But she got one of her ear hurted in the elevator sence, by the too closed gun shot .
Such a 180 for the character, she was so clueless and happy go lucky in the first film, I didn't get to enjoy the Arnold plot twist since I wasn't allowed to watch the original terminator when it was released (I was like 8 or something)
Linda Hamilton absolutely thrashed this role, Sara Connor was one of the first believable female action characters, I was around 13 when the first movie came out, and almost 20 when Judgment Day was released, Sara was at the time the single most bad ass female character ever seen in any movie, toatally iconic 💜
I totally agree but i would wanna throw another name in there. Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley from the Alien movies was just as good. They both had timeless great performances when it comes to believable female action characters. 😃
@@SirClickalot absolutely! For context, I was around 10 I think? When Alien was released, I don't think I was able to watch it until I was around 13 also 🥰
@@lisemzarate4029 Watching Alien at age of 13 would have freaked me out but i had kind of the same experience with watching Jaws being way too young. I still dont like the sea 😄
I was 20 when this movie came out. Linda Hamilton portraying a ripped and deadly Sarah Connor was one of the first female characters that I found incredibly sexy, who could completely whip my ass. I remember that scene where she's exercising in her room, and I'm thinking, "Damn, *I* can't do that many pullups." LOL
@@SirClickalot Da-Dum. 😀 I hear ya. I'm quite willing to respect the ocean as "Not My Habitat".
Terminator 2 is my most favorite movie of all time. It had everything in this movie, action, drama, suspense, comedy, great acting, great storyline, great quotes!!
Take a hike, bozo.
Yeah, you're still sitting on egg shells in the suspense scenes
Robert Patrick was so good in this film, he walked through those bars, which was completely unscripted...🤔😉😁
Robert Patrick (the T-1000) trained his ass of for this roll. He taught himself to fire his sidearm without blinking. And that sprint he does after John in the mall parking was legit. It took multiple takes because he kept catching the motorcycle on foot!
Yea I heard he trained strictly running for long periods so he would not ever look tired or out of breath just like a machine would..that's dedicated
@@BigBoss-zi5ss and he never showed any emotions while running. totally blank stare. a real machine
@@BigBoss-zi5sshe said he did track either on college or HS that’s why he had good form. He did kept catching up to the bike
It paid off, big time. When I was a kid, I was *TERRIFIED* of him. Now that I'm 32, I still find him extremely unsettling and think he easily ranks in the top 3 best movie villains of all time.
This film revolutionised CGI special effects in films. It's hard to believe this film is 31 years old, and it's STILL better than anything today. Robert Patrick's villain the T1000, is just as iconic as Arnold's T800. Nobody has matched these two since. Don't bother with the other films. They fail to top the legendary Terminator 2
Love vehicle chase scenes are not CGI total though. That semi truck coming off the bridge into the spillway is so cool - kudos to the stunt driver!
The car chase sequences today are so ridiculous & over the top (exmpl. later Fast n Furious movies) - they're not fun anymore.
@@foxchasejrt1 I agree. Sorry to correct you but there was no stunt driver in that truck. A dummy was behind the wheel, as the truck was sent off the bridge. Still amazing, but far too dangerous for anyone to do that!
@@peterlenham3180 Thanks for the clarification! ❤ That drop would be killer on one's lower back!
I agree. I rather watch this movie than any Marvel/DC recent movies. There's just so much CGI and actors doing something, eventually. But there's almost no story anymore. The point is just throw another film about your favorite super hero doing what he/she always does. And, if there's no ideas about stories for the future, then let's go back to the past and keep making more movies.
So wrong there is many movies a lot better than Terminator 2
Man, it's too bad they never made another Terminator movie after the first two. It had such franchise potential.
There are four more Terminators.👩🏾🎓🇺🇦
@@diddiaskew3084I'm fairly sure he's being sarcastic.
Fun fact about that first chase with the T-1000: the first time they tried filming it, Robert Patrick (the actor playing the T-1000) sprinted so fast he actually caught up with the bike and tapped Edward Furlong on the shoulder. Subsequent takes were done pulling the bike faster.
Yeah, and surprisingly enough, Robert Patrick considered that, his crash course running exercises for the marathon in which he participated in.
The Fugitive - starring Harrison Ford (Han Solo from Star Wars) and Tommy Lee Jones is another awesome cat and mouse action packed film. You two would love that one also!

@@davidhutchinson7888 I think in 2018 or 2017 there was a limited cinema run in the theaters for T2. As someone who was born after this movie came out I'm so glad I got to experience this movie in the cinema, one of the best cinema experiences I ever had.
You are in the rare position to just end watching this franchise now, enjoy this treat and pretend it ALL ends here. It is a roller coaster to the ground from here on out and it only gets worse every movie. Thanks for letting me watch this gem again from my childhood!
There are three other Terminator movies that came out after this one: "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines", "Terminator Salvation", and Terminator Genisys", and a television show based on the original two films titled, "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles". But most recently (2019) there was another Terminator film title "Terminator: Dark Fate", which the director of the original two films, James Cameron, returns as executive producer. Cameron was not involved with the three movies, and the television show which came after Terminator, and Terminator 2, and so he completely ignored the narratives of those projects when he developed "Dark Fate". As far as Cameron was concerned, Dark Fate is the third installment of the franchise.
Well Genesis Reset the whole Franchise so Dark Fate follow Genesis perfectly, its an alternate future (cause as seen in Terminator 3 Sarah Conor is already dead)
Dark Fate was garbage
Arnold was great at being funny, too. 'True Lies' has him teamed up with Jamie Lee Curtis, and both are at their best. Action/Comedy. 1994 directed again by Cameron. You two have the best relationship!
Intro to Jaime Lee Curtis s/b "Halloween"...:)
True Lies is still a favorite 😍
I still have my original working VHS 😃 and my DVD 📀 🙃 😎
I've joked from the very first time I saw this 🤔🙄🧐
How could "Arnold" not realize just how Hot "Jamie Lee" his Own, Wife 🤔😊🤓 Didn't he ever see her naked 😳 🤣
I still love true lies!
What's so great about this movie is that all 3 main characters do a total 180 from when the movie starts to when it ends.
John: Starts out as a smart mouth obnoxious jerk. But being around the terminator who takes the place of a father figure makes him into a good kid who cares about other people
Sarah: She goes from being a paranoid wreck to believing that we as a human race can make the future better
Terminator: it starts out as a mindless killing machine but after spending time with John and Sarah it ultimately learns the value of human life
Sarah removing the inhibitor chip allowed the T-800 to be able to learn and grow. Even Skynet was smart enough to do what humans didn't - leash its creations so they could never turn on it.
Agreed. And it's not just that Sarah goes from a "paranoid wreck" to having hope for the future, she also regains the humanity she lost between movies. Right up until she decides not to pull the trigger on Miles, she's basically acting as a Terminator herself. Everything is about the mission, there's no room for emotion or compassion, and she's ready to murder to accomplish her goal. Seeing Miles with his wife and child snaps her out of that so, in a way, while the others do a 180, Sarah does a 360 from the the first movie (except with the addition of a new grit and a bunch of bad-ass abilities).
@@DonnaCPunk I know I'm just saying that all the characters started at one place and when it ended they were somewhere else
The Villian in this film (Robert Patrick)
Was in one of the most brilliant and grossley overlooked films ever.
" Fire in The Sky"
How this movie was not huge is a mystery. Based on true accounts (the story of Travis Walton)
The CGI in this is next level and somehow still looks a lot better than many of todays movies. There are more Terminator movies as others mention, but honestly I wouldn't waste your time with any of them. It's all majorly downhill after this masterpiece
Practical effects are even better. Wanna film a helicopter flying under a bridge? Get a damn helicopter and fly it under a bridge, dammit!
The CGI back then was never seen before, completely groundbreaking and incredibly expensive and time-consuming to produce. These days you can do it yourself with full fluid dynamics in free applications like Blender in an hour. Amazing what happens in 30 years!
Can you imagine what it would be like taking one of today's movies back in time and playing it to people back then? Regular audiences would be wowed, but the guys who actually DO special effects would be wracking their brains trying to work out how it was done!
So wrong on so many level . . .CGI suck in this movie , and the best Terminator of all time is Genesis

T2 is a priceless gem of an action movie. 30 years old and still going strong. The action is not only for having a good trailer but is always a really necessary part of the well told story. I love this movie ❤
Sarah Conner is one of the most incredible action characters ever created. I think my favorite scene is when she goes after Dyson, and realizes in that moment, she became a Terminator, the exact thing she hated and opposed the most. Even the music in the background as she is walking towards the house sounds like Terminator music.
Modern hollywood could learn a lot about how to write strong female characters from this movie! (and alien)
Linda Hamilton improved her acting so much between movies also, she rocked it.
@@zeropoint216 nah, modern hollywierd is absolutely broken beyond repair... forever
Linda Hamilton trained hard for this film. When Arnold saw her on their first day of shooting he said "Linda! You're pumped!". She especially impressed everyone with the one hand pump reload of her shotgun. Fun film.
Thanks for watching the extended version. The last scene in the factory makes so much more sense if you realize the T-1000 is slowing down and trying to overcome glitching. Otherwise there is no reason for it not to kill Sarah or to walk so deliberately, and Arnold crystallizing it seems like a boneheaded mistake.
Sarah's journey from T1 to T2 is heartbreaking. Just seeing her carefree and living her life in T1, having everything change, and then seeing what she's become in T2.
Yeah, that character arch is rarely seen in films these days.
But also heartening that after everything she's been through and everything she knows, she doesn't become a monster. She could have murdered Dyson right there, in cold blood in front of his wife and son. She could have justified it to herself that she was stopping Judgement day and saving the human race, stopping all that horror by just taking one life. Instead, she holds onto her humanity and can't pull the trigger on what is essentially an innocent man, even if it is the save the future.
Also kind of ironic that the machines sending back terminators to end John gives both he and Sarah a leg up on how to destroy them during the war.
@@MoMoMyPup10 And that sending back the Terminators to eliminate John, is what started this whole cycle in the first place
Not sure if "carefree" is the right word since her life sucked before she met Kyle Reese the time-traveling turbo-Chad.
I watched this at the cinema when it was first released, I can remember emerging into the light afterwards feeling like I'd had an adrenalin rush due to the intensity of the action.
I think this is the best of the Terminator movies.
Paul, In this case, more is less. As well done as it was, it certainly wasn't a better film than the original. Whopper mistakes, no danger (compared to the first) and not inescapable. Patrick's Terminator was cool but Arnie's was terrifying & damn near unbeatable. The refinery chucked in at the end of 2 made the end all too obvious. Good try, a wee tweak in the opening narrative & the mistakes could easily have been explained, they weren't, sadly.
@@GGGritzer I mean... it was still way better than Dark Fate where they basically said "F U" to the fans and the original stories invalidating everything they did in the past without even putting up a fight.
@@Bancheis, no question of that!
I agree 👏👏👏
“I know now why you cry” is the writers telling the audience the terminator just learned the meaning of life and death. Right in time to make a sacrifice.
The Terminator in that moment felt fear.
What I LOVE about this movie, the reason why it’s on my top 5 favorites, is because of Arnold’s character interaction with Edward Furlong (John Connor)… it’s so pure, so beautiful to see that even a machine who they thought was feelingless became a true dad to him… Arnold on this movie is the polar opposite of him in the first: in the first movie, he was fierce, feelingless, and just evil… here he is brave, heartwarming and nice 😂😂
Another excellent James Cameron film that you should check out (one that often gets slept on, although it’s truly exceptional) is THE ABYSS (1989). It wasn’t quite as popular as his other films, but it has developed a very passionate fan base over the years. I think you both would really enjoy it. Like you did with this film, you should watch the Director’s Cut (aka The Special Edition).
YES to TASE.
Love The Abyss! I agree with that recommendation!!
Agree another cinematic masterpiece with great story (if predictable) and always the Director cuts where possible to see what they meant the piece to be in full.
Excellent suggestion.
One of my all time fav movies.
To watch the original Terminator in 1984 to watching Terminator II in1991 = the amount of anticipation of all the fans and to exceed an original is freaking movie magic! All the emotions I had watching Terminator II in the movie theater was exactly what you both had and I loved it! May I suggest watching the original "Alien" film directed by Ridley Scott. "Aliens" (the followup movie) was directed by James Cameron. Both movies are great in their own way...but Cameron really ups the stakes in "Aliens". Thank you for making my day again! Hasta La Vista, Baby!
I would of loved to have experienced T2 in the theaters. I was going to the movies in 91! but it was the first Ninja Turtles movie and I was 4 haha.
Aliens is great. I love Private Vásquez. Fun fact. The actress that played Vásquez (Jeanette Goldstein) played John's step mom in T2.
@@jennoscura2381 She was also in Titanic as an Irish immigrant w/two kids. There is a scene w/the kids in bed (while the ship is sinking) and she's telling them a fairy story.
So glad you guys watched the extended version. Amber, you have such strong empathy my heart bursts. The other Terminators don't even come close to the first two, save your time.
My 9yo daughter watched this movie with me, was highly entertained all the way to the molten steel scene at the end, then she started crying uncontrollably... She didn't care much for the special effects, the guns, the explosions, but she said she loved the music and got absolutely emotionally attached to T800 as the best good guy she's ever seen. When he did the thumbs up, she lost it for half an hour.
That's how you make movies!
Tell me about it i was 5 then i first saw it on tv and was glued since first second of this movie
We really don't make movies to make 9 year old girls cry. 🙂But you're point is well taken. Great movie!
Sarah's dream sequence is one of the most intense visuals I've ever seen. The whole nuclear apocalypse.
You've now seen every Terminator movie ever made.
Anyone who tells you otherwise just wants to hurt you.
Great reaction guys.
Terminator 2 (1991) this one is the best in my opinion. Because of Robert Patrick as the t-1000 liquid metal. He made it a classic!
The Sarah Connor in the park during her nightmare of the nuclear strike is actually portrayed by Linda Hamilton's real life twin sister Leslie...as well as some of the scenes in the factory near the end.
Rock star Billy Idol was almost cast as the Villainous T-1000, but injured his leg in a motorcycle accident and Robert Patrick was cast instead.
There are even storyboard drawings that bear a striking resemblance to Idol.
Woah, I did not know that
A year or so earlier Billy was due to be in another oscar winning 90's film, The Adventures Of Ford Fairlane but he was replaced by Robert Englund due to the motorcycle accident. Sidenote, the oscar winning part was sarcasm. 😄
But Billy does appear in THE DOORS, on crutches, due to the same accident.
@@mikegoodwin2386
I guess they were able to make it work for the character.
When he got into that motorcycle accident did Billy let out a rebel yell?
I'm imagining the T-1000 hopping after John's bike on his crutches. "Hey, man, wait up!"
Oh yes!!!
The first was a great movie but this one is really the best movie in the franchise!!
And it gave birth to one of the best catchphrases any teenage boy could have in the 90s....... Hasta La Vista Baby 😎😎😎
I would love to see you guys react to;
Die Hard,
Lethal Weapon,
Drop Dead Fred
Yeah, "best catchphrases".... that came from a Jody Watley pop song 🤣🤣 m.ua-cam.com/video/YQL-B3PNkeI/v-deo.html&feature=emb_logo
Yes all of those!!
Drop dead Fred is a heartbreaker, absolutely love that movie
YES!!! DROP DEAD FRED!!!
Maybe even Matilda!!
What about bob
The look on y’all’s faces at 10:50 is exactly the look all of us had on our faces in the theaters. This movie was so cutting edge when it came out. And is just a really well made action film!
I watched this aged 6 in 1993
And I cried when he put the thumbs up and had my mum laughing and comforting me at the same time.
Amadeus. The story of Mozart. It won like 8 Oscars and its timeless.
awesome movie.
Fantastic movie!
❤️
A Masterpiece movie
You guys should react to more Arnold Schwarzenegger films…
"Conan the Barbarian", "Conan the Destroyer", "Commando", "Predator", "Twins", "Total Recall", "Kindergarten Cop", "True Lies"
🎥🍿
Jingle All The Way at Christmas too
I'd add The Running Man, and people should probably see Last Action Hero as well, even though I didn't personally think that highly of it.
True Lies....Yep!
Predator was the BEST!!
And after all that, Last Action Hero! lol
When this film first premiered in London, cinemas were full to the brim, for a whole 7 months. Number one across the board, fantastic!
1 of my favourite scenes is when he tells jon to take the wheel then jumps to the box of the truck climbs up the big rig and unloads the m16 into the cab
2 fun production trivias that make this amazing movie even greater:
At 10:48 none of the camera crew wanted to film the scene because they were too afraid of the falling debris and chunks of concrete.
So James Cameron took the camera and filmed the shot himself.
At 32:00 they actually flew a real helicopter over and under bridges, through passages and into the rear end of a truck.
No CGI. No wires. No models.
And now you won't ever need to watch another action movie for the rest of your lives, because you just saw the greatest there is, there was and there ever will be.
I love this piece of trivia. So much better than the greenscreen cgi they make these days. Practical, REAL effects!
That stove scene in the bar fight gets me every time you're on something so hot you body pulls back from it, but you have to push off of it to get off *OUCH*
Robert Patrick if my favorite Terminator. He played the role so well. So cold and calculated.
This is before green screen, someone actually flew that helicopter under a bridge and they really did blow up that office building!
The other thing to consider about Arnold's movies is that in the early ones he was still very much new to English as a language. In 1984 he could barely speak it and his accent was thick. He was, after all, an Austrian weightlifter who went to Hollywood. By 92 he had a much better grasp of the language, cadence's, etc. You could get a good performance out of him. And he did an excellent job.
In my opinion he's underrated as an actor in much the same way Bruce Willis is. Bruce did die hard, but he also did 12 monkeys and the 6th sense. Arnold did terminator, but he also did end of days and True lies.
Also, in the Terminator movies, he was playing a machine so, honestly, he nailed the role. Whether that was just good casting for his abilities at the time or he's a better actor than people give him credit for (I think it's a combo of the two), he was perfect for these movies.
Hence we don't hear His real voice in the movie Hercules in New York 😅
@@letmadora28 that the one where he fought a bear in central park?
@@billhicks6449 the one where he fights a Man in a bear costume 🤣🤣
@@letmadora28 and the bear knows how to stick and jab🤣🤣🤣
This is the best! Don't waste your time with any more in this series, they milk it for a couple more movies. If you want another great Arnold movie "Predator" is awesome !
and Kindergarten Cop are both fantastic
Oh man, KINDERGARTEN COP is an Arnold classic!
True Lies!!!!! I'm a huge T2 fan, but I'm starting to think True Lies is an even better movie.
Yeah, just like Alien, stop after the second.
i agree. T2 is a classic. everything else was just a money-grab. same with the predator. first was amazing, then everything else was pretty bad
Predator 2 is another sequel that was at least as good as the original and I would argue it was better. Unfortunately Arnie isn't in it (unless they flash back to him in the beginning, I can't remember), but Danny Glover is, and I love him too.
10:04 Fun fact. Robert Patrick was a track athlete in college. He was so fast that they had to retake the dirt bike scene where John is running away from the T-1000 because he kept catching John on the bike. He had to purposely run slower just to get the shot.
The attention to detail in this movie is above and beyond - The metal filings being scraped off of T-1000 when he's being dragged behind the police car, the fact that he grows a 3rd arm inside the helicopter to fly and fire at the same time, the mimic function malfunctioning after being shattered and mimicking the flooring, (and railing in the Director's Cut)... the list goes on. Peak James Cameron.
I think you guys would love Kindergarten Cop (starring Arnold) because it is a totally different movie for him, but still has some good action. My second recommendation of his would be True Lies. It too has a lot of action but peppered with comedy as well. And Jamie Lee Curtis is great in it, too.
It's not a toomah!
YES!!!! Do kindergarten cop!!! especially since you are teachers!!
Yes yes yes! This might be my favorite Arnold movie. I hope you react to it!
Intro to Jaime Lee Curtis s/b "Halloween"!
I agree. True Lies and Kindergarten Cop are a lot of fun! Amber and Jordan would absolutely love them both!
One of the coolest things about Robert Patrick's T-1000 is that, in all his screen time, he never blinks. Total machine.
I didn’t know that! Cool!
Seeing this in the theatre when I was a young teenager was amazing.
I feel blessed that I could go to see such amazing films for the 1st time at the cinema in the late 70s & 80s - such an amazing period for films.
This story line continues in the TV show Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Oddly, few seem to have ever seen that fantastic direction for the franchise.
The show wasn't very good. Just go to Terminator 3
The best part of that show was Shirley Manson.
Yes, thank you for this comment..
I loved the story and performances in "The Sarah Conner Chronicles", Lena Headey brought her own spin to the Sarah Conner character, which were very big shoes to fill after Linda Hamilton's portrayal.
@@Herbert04 Are you serious?! The show is way better than Terminator 3.
That was a fantastic show. Especially with Summer Glau as a Terminator.
Funny
Robert Patrick, who played the T1000, actually got so good at running when getting ready for this role that when John took off on his dirt bike in the parking garage, he was able to catch him. They had to do it again where he had to slow down a bit
I saw T2 in the theater several times in 1991. The lead up hype to this movie was unreal. We all went and saw it opening day.
This movie used two sets of twins. The Stanton brothers played the security guard and the copy that rose from the floor and Linda’s twin played her dream at the playground.
I saw this in a full movie theater on its release. Though plenty of great action from the start, some people were munching popcorn or making yelps during key moments. But the scene by the playground - the vision of the future holocaust - with people turning to bones, then ash, then blown away by the wind - that was a different story. In that sequence, no sounds of popcorn munching, no comments - total silence from the whole audience when the shock hit them what it would be like in a multiple nuclear detonation.
This is a genuinely classic movie.
i dont think they would be turned to ash, moreso just vaporized or completely set on fire depending on how close they were.
Sir how did they specifically react to seeing CGI for the 1st time?
Similar memory -- total silence in the theater as the camera focuses on Sarah's face awoken from the dream.
YEEEESS!!! T2 Judgement Day. I WILL make a bold claim. This is (in my opinion) by far the BEST movie in the Terminator series
Not really a bold claim, it's most people's favorite.
Yes, followed by the first one then (for me) Salvation, Rise of the Machines, Genisys then Dark Fate.
A bold claim would be best sci-fi movie.
I agree 😊 the best 👌
Not bold. Just correct.
Robert Patrick trained incredibly hard for this, to perfect the running alone is amazing, think to be in a full on sprint with zero expression
31:24 Just a small trivia: They actually flew a helicopter under that bridge. The stunt was so dangerous that the camera operator, scared for his own safety, refused to film it. So James Cameron filmed it himself.
Fun Fact for Jordan and Amber:
When the T-1000 Terminator Morphed into the Security Guard at the mental hospital, they were played by a set of twins
The same story with Sarah's dream sequence where she was watching herself dressed in her waitress uniform from the first movie and when She's facing off against the T-1000 in the steel mill, that was Linda Hamilton and her twin sister Leslie
Those two were pretty popular during the 90s and after. They were in so many movies even if only for a single scene.
And don't forget where they are messing with the T-800 head. While that scene was, technically, in front of a mirror, the need for dummies and prosthetics (because the head is seen open, but Arnold still has a lot of flesh on) convinced James Cameron the scene had to be shot with practical effects: Arnold and Linda in the side of "the mirror" and Linda's sister and a dummy with the open gaps in the "real side". They had to train to do exactly the opposite moves in the right moment so nobody noticed there was never a mirror in the first place (their acting and some clever shots make people miss that scene is not made with any form of CGI, nor in front of a mirror).
The twins playing the guards were in Good Morning Vietnam - they were the news censors.
@@Out_of_My_Head They're also in "Gremlins 2: The New Batch"
The little boy was Leslies nephew
After watching Amber's reaction to this I'm eagerly anticipating her reaction to the powerful maternal aspect of 'Aliens'. Jay, she'll need your support. 'Alien' and 'Aliens' are both masterpieces of the sci-fi genre, and the character of Ripley set the bar for Bad-A women (5 years before T2). Sigourney Weaver is an icon.
you also forgot to mention that Aliens is directed by James Cameron and has Bill Paxton who was one of the punks in T1, Michael Biehn who was Kyle, Lance Henrikson who was the white cop in T1, Jeanette Goldstein who was John's foster mom and i think a few other Terminator franchise actors.
James got the idea of BadAss women from the movie Halloween, so the original BadAss is Jamie Lee Curtis.
He's credited bad ass female characters to his mother, but I'm sure other BA in films play a role.
YOU KIDDING? THEY HAVEN'T SEEN ALIENS???????WTF?????
Both of y'all reactions were nothing short of awesome. This movie will have you go through a lot of emotions all at once. It's what makes it a great movie.
Fun fact, the redhead kid with John in the beginning is my cousin! His name is Danny Cooksey, he was born here in Moore, he played in a smokey mountain Christmas with Dolly, also did a series called salute your shorts, along with being a voice actor on several cartoons like Montana Max on tiny toons or the stoop boy on hey Arnold!
Best thing about watching UA-camrs react to this is seeing their reaction and shock when Arnold is the good guy this time around! I love seeing the confusion on their face lol Funny thing is, back in the day, this "twist" was ruined for us all since they showed in the trailers and commercials that Arnold was good. We all knew going in that Arnold was sent back to save John. So its amazing 30 years later to see newcomers actually get the genuine reaction and be surprised like we all should have been 30 years ago. Its great 🙂
did they really spoil it in the trailers? That's crazy. Guess some movie problems have always been around. What a dumb move!
Great reaction guys! The way the liquid nitrogen affected the T-1000 wasn't a chemistry thing. It's just that liquid nitrogen is -320°F. 🥶
The scene with 2 Sarahs was filmed using Linda Hamilton's twin sister. And Linda didn't know her sister was gonna be in it.
Another interesting fact: Robert Patrick, who plays the liquid metal Terminator's brother is in the band Nine Inch Nails.
Hilarious that you said 'this is getting out of hand!', right after he rips the flesh off of his hand! You guys are great! Shedding tears for a killer cyborg. Awesome! I enjoy your music reactions as well. Keep up the good work.
An underrated movie from the 80s is Ladyhawke staring Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Broderick. Great movie. Another 2 must watches with Matthew Broderick, War games (with the girl from Breakfast club) and Project X (1987, not the newer with different plot) with Helen Hunt.
When they filmed the elevator scene Linda forgot her earplugs and lost the hearing in one ear when Arnie fired the shotgun.
You may recognise the actress playing John’s foster Mother was Vazquez in Aliens, alongside the actor playing Reese was Hicks in Aliens. Bill Paxton and Lance Henriksen were both in Terminator and Aliens too!
Glad you liked the movie. Just keep in mind that the Arnold terminator in this movie was not the same one in the first movie. If you recall Skynet sent the first Terminator before John was born. In this movie it was John himself, in his mid 30s, who reprogrammed this terminator and sent it back. So though this was the same model as the first, it was actual another terminator.
_"So, what, do you guys just come off an assembly line or something?"_
_"Yes."_
😂
Fun Facts:
All the "twin" appearances the T-1000 makes with another character in the same shot are explicitly done with actors with twins, such as Linda Hamilton. The scene where she is removing the CPU from the Terminator at the gas station was done where her twin was in the "inverse" mirror shot and duplicating the movements using a mannequin.
Arnold was the only member of the crew and cast that could lift the Vulcan minigun solo without assistance. It was the same prop used in Predator.
OMG! I'm so glad you guys loved it! Now you know why people say this is better than the first. One of the top action movies, in my opinion 😀🔥
Jay: "I don't know if there are any more Terminators after this...?"
Hollywood: Hold my beer.
10:11 fun fact, that he actually had to slow down because he trained running so much for this part that he would catch up to the dirtbike lol
The special effects in this movie were groundbreaking. This is the best Terminator movie by far. You should watch True Lies next it is one of my favorite Arnold movies. Jamie Lee Curtis is his wife in the movie.
*visual effects
@@MarCuseus if you're gonna be pedantic at least be correct. Visual effects are a subset of special effects. T2 had far more types of special effects than just VFX.
Sorry, Erika. In this case, more is less.
Oh YES I love True Lies movie. What a great one. It's funny also. Another great series of movies is the Predator series of movies. I think Arnold was in the first one.
@@adam.4487, funny you mention Predator. That is another series of films where I think the original is waaay out ahead of anything else that follows.......
The two of you have the greatest chemistry. I love the combined intellect and your insight into the movies you review. It's absolutely wonderful to watch these movies with you two.
(10:04) Given your Track & Field background, you will live this part. There were no special effects or camera trickery. Robert Patrick (T-1000) really ran that fast. He trained so well for this that he actually kept catching up to the dirt bike (and later the car) that he had to slow down to not catch them.
Robert Patrick, the T 1000 trained with a track coach for a year before filming and got in tremendous shape for the running scenes in this movie.
I could tell how much you liked this one and how invested you both were in the story - especially Amber! This movie shows that sequels CAN be better than the original. Unfortunately, the franchise kinda went downhill after this! I have watched all the sequels, of which there are quite a few (plus a tv show which I didn't watch...) and I like to pretend that the story ends with T2, and Sarah and John can finally look to the future with optimism and hope!
Great reaction as always =)
The TV show was actually worth watching - at least more than the sequels, by and large
@@firsealtonberry9712 It legitimately tried at least. But it was on FOX. It was kind of a miracle they got a second season.
I loved the TV show. They did such a good job and Lena Heady was a fantastic Sarah. It is placed between T2 and T3.
The TV show is actually quite good. I'd actually say that just in terms of quality of writing it might be the best of the franchise. But obviously props to the first two films.
I suggest checking the series out aswell
As you can tell this movie won all sorts of awards for special effects. When it came out all of our heads were buzzing with hell the T 1000 was able to do all those things. I really loved watching your reaction it reminded me of me when I first saw this movie. Thank you for reviewing it.
Just a note that I get the biggest kick out of you guys. The chemistry you have as a couple is one of the reasons I watch - even though,, as a student of film for almost a half century, I've seen a lot. Seeing you watch them for the first time takes me back to those feelings I had myself. Thank you. Dominus vobiscum 🙏
Robert Patrick (the actor who plays the T-1000) is the older brother of Filter vocalist, Richard Patrick.
