One of the most epic movies of all time. This was back when the limitations of the technology forced the artists to be smart about how they implemented it, from the lighting, to application, to using them only when necessary. Everything was from scratch, custom built for the scene, not shortcut packages built for generic purposes. The Corridor Effects Crew did a UA-cam video about trying to recreate the T-1000 walking through the jail bars, but their pre-built gel effects weren't meant to re-congeal to re-form the original object. The original T2 special effects team literally wrote their own code to make that shit happen. Fucking legendary.

YES! One of the best sequels of all TIME!
Fun fact: the actor who played the T-1000 was so fast in his running he actually was able to catch up to the bike and they had to shoot that scene multiple times and let the bike get a head start so he wouldn't catch up. In some cases, even with a head start, he still caught up so they just asked him to cut his speed

  • @davem9208

Good review of a great movie.
Small detail: As the film sequences were not filmed in order, the desert scenes, where they got Sarah's stored weaponry and John helped the T1 to repair the truck, were actually the first scenes to be filmed. Then back to the city.
The problem that caused were that the actor Edward Furlong (John) , having been filmed at his youngest point already, was now noticeably older in what would, in the final cut, be earlier scenes. Also, his voice had broken by then too, so the producers had to adjust the audio on his spoken parts.

Yeah I liked the extended version ASIDE from the ending. The theatrical ending was absolutely perfect -- simple, poetic, and powerful -- whereas the makeup effects in the extended one was subpar for the rest of the movie, and the exposition was pretty unnecessary.

Remember when Arnold got his arm stuck in the machinery at the steel factory and he had to detach it in order to get free? Well... when they were destroying all the remnants of the technology at the end by casting it into the molten steel, they *forgot* about that other arm that was still stuck in the machinery back there! They only destroyed the T-1000, the T-800, and the arm and CPU chip from Dyson's lab. But not the second arm. That's what I thought would be the reason for a Terminator 3.

The Terminator and T2 were the Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back for my generation.
The Terminator is possibly the greatest "B-movie" ever made. By that i mean, it is the greatest low-budget sci-fi ever produced. Some of the effects stand out like a sore thumb. But The Terminator is still a great inspiration for future filmmakers. Cameron showed us what can be possible on a small budget and its freaking amazing.
T2 on the other hand is the greatest action movie ever made. Cameron showed us whats possible once youve established yourself in the industry. And its freaking phenomenal.
We wouldnt have The Matrix or the MCU today if it wasnt for Terminator 2: Judgment Day. And this movie still holds up infinitely better.
It seems so wrong that Linda Hamilton didnt get nominated for Best Actress. Linda Hamilton was so great in T2, she made Sarah Connor one of the greatest, strongest, most iconic female roles ever put on film. Her Sarah Connor is right up there with Cameron's own Ellen Ripley in Aliens and Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind.
You dont have to watch any other Terminator film.

@@MairSophie I write this to You to bring You Eternal Hope from far away."The Rapture"- is A Truly Real Future Biblical Christian Worldwide Event in which Millions of Living True Christian Believers shall be "Transported" into Heaven to meet The Creator Of The World/The Maker Of The World/The Lord Himself and they shall be with him Forever and ever. Also in addition to "The Rapture" another Truly Real Future Biblical Christian Worldwide Event called "The First Resurrection" will also take place, which will "Resurrect" All-Dead True Christian Believers and will also "Transport" them into Heaven to meet The Creator Of The World/The Maker Of The World/The Lord Himself and they shall be with him Forever and ever!
"The Rapture" collects All-Living True Christian Believers, while " The First Resurrection" collects All-Dead True Christian Believers. The Dead True Christian Believers shall rise first and then both:The Dead and The Living True Christian Believers shall Together be Transported into Heaven to be Together with The Christian God and to be Rewarded accordingly by The Christian God!
This is not a joke.I have seen "The Signs" and these words are "True and Correct".Remember!Jesus Christ said:“You don’t have to wait for the End.I am right now,Resurrection and Life. The one who believes in me,even though he or she dies, will live. And everyone who lives believing in me does not ultimately die at all.Do you believe this?”

I Watched your reaction to Terminator 2 Judgment Day! I Recommend Watching A great comedy movie based on a Saturday Night Live Skit Called Wayne’s World! It’s About Two Grown Men Played By Mike Myers As Wayne And Dana Carvey As Garth Who Have A Show In The Basement Of Wayne’s Parents House! Trust Me When You React To The Wayne’s World Movie You’ll See Why Their Both Connected!!!

One of the best sequels of all time! Alongside Cameron’s other sequel masterpiece Aliens. Can’t say the same for the new Avatar movie. Glad you enjoyed this! It was a major milestone in the history of visual effects.
That dog was the same one from the first Terminator movie. Belonged to the director and was named Beowulf. Nickname was Wolfie!

There really isn't more than two movies! I mean, technically there are more films, but they honestly don't count and should have never been made. There is no need to watch them. Just close the book here and end the story how it should have ended. People will try to tell you that the 3rd is decent... and it is. But it's still not very good and nowhere near the level of even the first film. Then the movies just get absurd.

    • @extantsanity
      @extantsanity Рік тому

Yeah, agreed -- even if the third movie is "decent", its mere existence relies on inserting loopholes that allow an infinite number of meaningless sequels to exist, which itself renders the sacrifice of the T800 in this movie meaningless and makes the overall story weaker. But leave it to Hollywood to want to milk the shit out of everything. Those of us who appreciate art don't like to indulge the third movie for continuity and legacy reasons.

Kind of disappointed you didn't include where Arnold questions what's wrong with his eyes when they're in the police car or later when he asked why do we cry & John tries to explain. Then the end says now I now know why you cry something I could never do. But nonetheless I would stop here & not continue the franchise
