You should really make a matching acorn cap for that outfit. Maybe a soft berret but a hard shell cap with the same effect as the pauldrons would be really awesome
@@m.maclellan7147 maybe it could be smaller so she could wear it askew with one ponytail visible? i was also turning over in my mind the idea of an acorn beret whilst wondering about how to preserve the whimsy of the hairstyle haha.
Just wanted to say, in spite of being a person who's talents mostly lie in the areas that you dismiss with "ain't nobody got time for that", your videos have gotten me back into making clothes for myself after decades of "I'm too fat to put that much effort into making clothes for", and putting historical garments back into my every day wardrobe. Thank you for helping me take that step closer to thinking I may be worth putting effort into.
You are so worth it!!! So happy for this step on your journey, and I hope it becomes easier for you to know and say that you’re worth it as you go forward ❤
as a fellow acorn-collecting goblin, make sure that none of the acorns you take into your house have little holes in them! Those are from acorn weevils layin' their eggs inside. They may be cute but their babies are horrible little grubs who I did not appreciate finding in my home among my trinkets
Yes! Last year I found a couple grubs and I kept em in a terrarium. Just this week I saw my grown weevil in there! Can’t believe I managed to keep the lil cutie alive all this time
So I learned something about acorns you might find fascinating! When the trees drop them with their hats, they've actually been "infected" by an acorn weevil. So they're dropped with the hat to kind of trap them in there and keep them from coming back. Acorns you find without their hats are actually the fully developed seeds, and their hats are still on the tree.
Idk if anyone has mentioned this but the cartridge pleating WAS worth all of your hard work. Different gathers and pleats lie different, and cartridge pleats create intentional vertical gathers which helps the fabric lay right where it’s all gathered up (ie it’s less “bulky”). Random gathers that happen from using a wide stitch and just, gathering, would give you a lot more bulk of fabric at the waist and leg bands, as well as they wouldn’t poof as nicely and uniformly. It would be noticeably different lol
If you haven't checked out the video game Grounded, you SHOULD! You're tiny in a backyard and use random items to make weapons and armor, including an acorn armor set!
@@BuffyNTinkDidImprov Yes, you slowly explore the backyard and find new creatures, some of which you fight and some of which are friends. Grey squirrels will "jump" you for snacks. They is tough little reprobates!
@@m.maclellan7147Yeah the red squirrel is native to us over here in NY too. I put peanuts out for the Bluejays and titmice but the red squirrels love to come to steal them. They are cute little creatures though.😊😂
here where I live it's 100% grey squirrels and they're definitely not "demure" (but they ARE "cutesy").
