For the lattice window, you could add tiny clumps of moss any spots that are particularly rough! Also, if you're able to change the lightbulb in the snail lamp, giving him a different colored bulb might help him stand out from the candles and add to the whimsical magic forest vibes.

I ❤ the room makeover! The wine barrel smell will wear off in due time (purchased many in my days) also I think making that lattice out of wood straps (someday) would look better. I've never seen anyone make window trim out of foam board. That was neat and inspiring for future projects I have twirling around in my head. I could see where you were going with the wall paint and shadowing to make it look aged. Some instant coffee/cinnamon/vanilla/water grunge mix would do the trick 😊
As a future project I think it would be fun to paint something in between the ceiling beams, it's a trick that was used a lot during the 19th century when Europe was crazy about medieval times and wanted to bring back its aesthetic
I don’t know if you collect baskets or not, but the beam with the lantern hanging from it reminded me of my grandmother’s house and she had one giant beam in her kitchen that had SO MANY baskets hanging from it. 🥰 It was so whimsical and I think would fit right in to the decor you have now!
Rachel, think "glazing " for your next wall painting. Paint the walls in your medium tone, then soft brush your light and dark glazes over in cross strokes, adjusting the effects as you go. That will give you so much control over how the walls look in different lighting.
You probably won't see this, but someone else might. An easier method to age on this scale might be powdered pastels. I love your process, and need to take a page out of your book, and just Do It ❤

I've only got around 3-4 minutes into the video but for the trunks! Put them on their side and use them as shelves! They are soooo cute that way especially if you add fairy lights. sorry if someone's already said this or if you already did it but I thought I'd say before my gerbil brain gets intrigued by something else!
Your barn is looking great! I love doing random renovations/home DIYs. I’m currently teaching myself how to make stained glass because I’m building a built-in in an existing empty niche in my living room and decided it also needs art deco style stained glass doors that match the original finish elements around the house, it brings me so much joy!
It looks SO GOOD! (Also, if you ever decide to redo the window "leading", try looking into expandable trellis panels. They're usually made out of willow, and are hinged at the points of the diamonds so that you can expand them to fit the necessary space.)
I'm relieved to know that I'm not the only person who absolutely agonizes over paint colors like this. About to paint my kitchen cabinets for a third time 💀
It took me forever to pick a Grey 😅 mostly picked a color based on the name lol. It was like ocean mist or something xD a nice blue/green-grey that changes color depending on the lighting. Looks great with white trim. Very millennial 😅
@KateMaureen14 ive done my own paint blends for that very reason. 😂😂 I also, while agonizing over the choices did very large paint swatches of the options on multiple walls. And in my kitchen I fully painted different cabinet doors in the colors I was thinking to see what sparked the most joy
Gotta say, wasn't ready for Kazoo Kid. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 OK, _WHY_ the pause for the RAIN, you may ask. Likely because here in southern New England, _we hadn't had any for about 100 days and it really began to worry everyone._ That rain, though not lasting long enough, was _SO WELCOME...!!_ Rachel, you do so much WORK, and it's always wonderful to watch and so much _FUN!!_ THANK YOU!
Rachel doesn't know how often she saved me. I am a taurus and my brain functions really similar to hers and hearing her say "I am a taurus. If I don't surround myself with whimsy, I WILL die." was so kathartic to me because I feel exactly the same and people often don't get that. Last week I cried for three whole days because someone told me AGAIN that my flat is too full of things, too weird, that I have too much stuff and do too much. It stirred up some nasty wounds from my childhood. Coming here and hearing "Imma do more, sorry not sorry" from Rachel is for me that bear hug she spoke of, that we all want and need.
Sending you a spirit hug! I, too (although I’m an Aquarius) have many things and random projects on the go! You tell them that it’s your home and you can do what you want with it! (Even if you only mentally tell them that, haha) You keep doing you! If it isn’t hurting you or others, it’s really not a big deal like some people will make it out to be! ❤️
I can't watch your videos and not smile. I am always so happy to have you take me out of my head. Thank you for the enormous amount of work you do for us all.
It would give me SO MUCH serotonin to live in a place with that much whimsy all around. You're already an inspiration for a lot of my decor, Rachel, but when I get my own space, I'll be unstoppable.
Wow! What an awesome transformation! It’s so beautiful and cozy, I just want to grab a quilt and curl up on the floor there! Not even joking! I love it!
You can use the trunks as shelves if you put little curtain rods in them and wood on top and standing them on their side. If they're not antiques you can also put drawers in them.
It is such a treat to start the weekend with your lates upload! You are the best and make me giggle and laugh. Lovelovelove. Thank you for beeing here!
I really enjoy watching your contact. It makes me smile and laugh, and I feel like I’m with you. Thank you for being who you are and enjoy that you bring to the ward!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The barrel cabinet is great! It might be possible to air it out by taking it outside and leaving the doors open for a couple of days, but it's already installed, so, never mind that. Also, considering the porous nature of wood, the smell might be permanent. The whole barn looks fun, whimsical and cozy, just as intended! I've seen lamps like that snail before; very sweet.
If you want to story something in the trunks: place them agains a wall. Screw shelf brackets into the wall, so that you have about 1/2 inch space between then trunks. You can either place the trunks directly on the shelf brackets or make the wooden boards just as long as the trunk. That way, if you want to get something out of a lower trunk, you can just pull that one out, while the others stay in place and the optics of stacked trunks remains.
The thing about us aesthetic, crafty, chaos people is that we have to live somewhere a while and build up the space over time. This barn is a perfect example of that! You have to curate and develop the space bit by bit, but it’ll feel so perfect and loved and lovely when it finally gets there 🤌
No other creator has ever captured so perfectly what I would consider to be my aesthetic for life in general. The crafts, the decor, the costumes, the vibes... ALL OF IT is just so perfect and brings me so much joy with every video!!
Your aesthetic is "come in out of the cold, traveler and warm your boots by the fire" and i support that!
❤❤❤

I've only got around 3-4 minutes into the video but for the trunks! Put them on their side and use them as shelves! They are soooo cute that way especially if you add fairy lights. sorry if someone's already said this or if you already did it but I thought I'd say before my gerbil brain gets intrigued by something else!
SNAMP!!!!!
I'm literally obsessed with him
So happy you posted this. Whimsical as hell, and just what I needed. Thank you!
Nothing makes me feel more validated than seeing your attic mess ❤ that is the exact amount of chaos my finished basement is in
Thank you for a delightful asmr leaf break in the middle! LOVE this diy!
"None of my friends or family have eyes that good". My absolute favorite part. Gawd, I adore you.
I also, while agonizing over the choices did very large paint swatches of the options on multiple walls.
And in my kitchen I fully painted different cabinet doors in the colors I was thinking to see what sparked the most joy
Gotta say, wasn't ready for Kazoo Kid. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
OK, _WHY_ the pause for the RAIN, you may ask.
Likely because here in southern New England, _we hadn't had any for about 100 days and it really began to worry everyone._
That rain, though not lasting long enough, was _SO WELCOME...!!_
Rachel, you do so much WORK, and it's always wonderful to watch and so much _FUN!!_ THANK YOU!
Obsessed with the slamp (snail lamp)
the bit outside with the autumn leaves and rain felt like a relaxing interlude
Yay!! I love the whimsification of your barn/home, it looks amazing ❤
Hurray! Finally I am in time for new whimsical video with the great Rachel!
I can't watch your videos and not smile. I am always so happy to have you take me out of my head. Thank you for the enormous amount of work you do for us all.
Every other Friday i have this “tradition” to watch Rachel’s new videos it’s like a treat lol
The Tudor window is such a fun idea!!! And it seems to double as protection against bird strikes!
What song is at 25:40? Its whimsy at its finest and totally fits the magnificent renovation!
I was scanning the comments to see if someone else asked this question! I’d also love to know!!
I was looking through the comments for it too, and someone else commented that it’s ‘The Wedding Feast’ by Bonnie Grace :)
@@TheDrawfeeBraincell it is!!! 😃 Thank you!!! I just found it on Spotify!! 😄
@@TheDrawfeeBraincell Oh thank you so much!
Whimsical AF!!! LOVE it!!!
Ok honesty I’m not blowing smoke I feel like the kinda jagged edges make it look rustic, and realistic. Like I believe them.
Rachel there's not much I wouldn't give to be able to help u organize this barn in a helpful way to you
Literally it's one of my favorite things to do
Window tape twice, white first followed by brown. It'll be white on the outside and brown inside, just make sure you line it up.😊
Tip from a professional custodian: Highly recommend buying a dry mop (at least 36") and it will making managing your floor so, so much easier!
I must be surrounded by beauty and whimsy or I will die!
Truer words have never been spoken
the amount of serotonin this gives me is unreal
It would give me SO MUCH serotonin to live in a place with that much whimsy all around.
You're already an inspiration for a lot of my decor, Rachel, but when I get my own space, I'll be unstoppable.
You make me so happy miss Rachel. I know your humor so well. I wish I knew more people like you. It's always a pleasure to enjoy your windy videos.
Wimsey and whimsical ness
Hooray perfect timing! I love your videos for cozy time and for getting stuff done time and tonight I need both! 💕
It is such a treat to start the weekend with your lates upload! You are the best and make me giggle and laugh. Lovelovelove. Thank you for beeing here!
"I need to be surrounded by beauty and whimsy -- or I will die!"
Mee too!💖
Love how it turned out, especially the Tudor window area. Perfect Window to look out from and ponder what one wants to have for elevensies. .
The snail lamp looks like something my grandma would have. She also collected wooden ducks so she was eccentric for sure.
I would love if you did a whole soundscape video of a storm on your property. Your nature shots are gorgeous!
this looks so unbelievable whimsical. Now you only need some banners with your personal heraldry.
