For some reason when I read about them a couple years ago I thought they were only a positive for the player. This is actually really awesome because it reminds me of Diablo 1 where unique items often had both positive and negative effects, and you had to weigh them both to decide whether or not they were worth equipping. That's one of the things I always wished D2 had kept from D1. Sanctuary is a cursed land, and the fact that even powerful items were also cursed items was awesome. I actually really love that these have negative effects for the player.

thanks dude. this video was very useful for me. i noticed the other day that my res was terrible all of a sudden. i had found two sunders and was carrying them. i was under the impression that the negative res was how much the charm reduced the monsters res. haha.
Great video, thanks. I just got back to D2R and the sundered charms made no sense to me. So basically just stack up on small charms with the resistance you're using on the sundered to make up for the negative. I have a question though please. Would the conviction aura on infinity stack up with the -5% ress (from 100%) that you get from the charm? So does that translate to additional damage?
I thought the trade off of a sunder charm was obvious. Until you can lower their res some other way, sundering isn’t useful. But hey. I’m still in nightmare because I love to play too many classes at once.
Im gonna have to disagree on the usefulness. Obviously you are gonna try to make up for the negative resistance but even with it being in the far negative, i went from farming at a snails pace due to the monster immunities or outright avoiding the area altogether, to instantly able to farm efficiently at a similar pace as before i encountered the immune monsters. The benefits of sundering immunities far far outweight its negative. You'll realize this when you get to hell mode.
@@stuka80 I think he just means, ‘IF we had ONLY the Sunders, and Immune enemies could only ever be broken to 95% Resistant, then they’d not be THAT exciting or earth-shattering”. thank got you good sir. Now i no longer need to look up what sunder does :) i knew that -% was destroing me and not mobs what i didn't know that sunder is set monster to 95%
It's an item with two affixes. The "sunder" effect is new, and -% to [your] resist already exists in the game. Other items have affixes that are "-% fire resist", such as Andariel's Visage. This second affix on the charm had the exact same wording as existing items with the detrimental effect. That's what's mildly mind-blowing; people aren't reading them as two affixes, they're somehow assuming they're connected despite the wording being consistent among all such items. The real issue is that the wording for -% to enemy resist says enemies, and the wording for -% to your resist doesn't, and is "implied". Diablo I had personal resistances, so they just copied the wording for those affixes for D2. When they added enemy resist modifiers in D2, they had to differentiate and didn't bother to change the personal resist wording.
Hey Ginger, regarding the Bone Break Sunder Charm, affect necro minions? and the effectiveness of Amp Damage after Sunder is 1/5 or full effectiveness ? thanks
If we use infinity though is it like i think it is? 95 % -17% which is 78% lightning resistance for example or is it like before for example 110res monster-17 = 93 res. I guess I am wondering if infinity is better with sunder or is it the same. Is the reduced 1/5 effectiveness of infinity taking place after sundering the monster's immunity of before?
Better of course the lower the better. Yes the 1/5th penalty still applies. But 95% res is a lot easier to bring down then 110 or 120 and all monsters will break
This reminds me of that meme of the blue or gold dress... some people see it one way others another I thought it was pretty damn obvious the negative res affects you
Good question, Sunder charms by themselves are mostly useless which is something a lot of people just don't understand. "Even if the monster's resistance is 3000% it sets it to 95%" Some monsters actually do have 1000% resistance (Gargoyle Trap for cold) and sunder charms do not break their immunity. I guess the devs picked a number as an upper limit and forgot about those.

So it only sunder's a monster immunity it does nothing against monsters that are not immune?I always knew the 75% effected our resistance but was still not sure if the sunder worked on all monsters or just the ones that are immune to the type of sunder you are using.

probably because of other d2 youtubers. i haven't played d2 in months but i have kept up with the updates and through them, i also thought that the reduction was for the monster resistance, not applying to you.
no because sunder charms don't reduce the monsters resistance by a Number, They simply set the Monsters Resistance to 95% at the start of the calculation. Multiple Sunders would set the Monsters Resistance to 95% multiple times... which would just be 95% ok your 95% ok your 95% ok your 95% ok your 95% ok your 95% ok your 95%....
How tf do people read that wrong? I’m shocked you felt the need to make an entire video. Like it says -75% to res. It doesn’t say -75% monster resistances. That’s what the sunder part means. Seems self explanatory if you have played the game at all.
Even if someone can't read correctly. You would think people would notice their res dropping when having one lmao. Saying that, yeah it's pretty damn obvious what it means lmao.
The sundered charm's description is very poorly done by the creator; the wording is very misleading. All they had to do was stating "When using in player's inventory, the charm brings monster's resistance to 95%, and player's resistance is reduced by 75%."
Quote: "The sunder charm sets enemy resistance to 95%." Whoa, that means monster having 10% resistance now has 95% resistance with sunder charm. Thanks for the fake news Ginger. 😇😅🤔 Yeah, I'm fun at parties and stuff.

probably because of other d2 youtubers. i haven't played d2 in months but i have kept up with the updates and through them, i also thought that the reduction was for the monster resistance, not applying to you.
so does having two of the same sunder charms reduce the monster below 95%
no because sunder charms don't reduce the monsters resistance by a Number, They simply set the Monsters Resistance to 95% at the start of the calculation.
@@Mesoz lol im just imagining someone trading a jah for one of those -90s just to going rambo and getting one shot
The sundered charm's description is very poorly done by the creator; the wording is very misleading. All they had to do was stating "When using in player's inventory, the charm brings monster's resistance to 95%, and player's resistance is reduced by 75%."
Thanks
The physical charms are garbo
I want to see a Booger enema sunder charm! Lol!
I thought this was a troll video but no... Human idiocy knows no bounds
How did people not realise this? 😂
Quote: "The sunder charm sets enemy resistance to 95%." Whoa, that means monster having 10% resistance now has 95% resistance with sunder charm. Thanks for the fake news Ginger. 😇😅🤔 Yeah, I'm fun at parties and stuff.
Simple words, it has one thing good, and one thing not.
Lol traded a guy my negative 90 for his negative 70 because he didn't realize that (fire sunder)
Jerk
Are you sure it lowers 99% resistance to 95% It's supposed to only work against immunities.
since 99% resistant monsters don't exist, it's a moot point
Do sunder charms work on Baal ?
Sunder charms only break immunity, Baal is not immune to anything so no they do not work on baal.
As sunder charms do not do anything else other than break immunity, monsters who have no immunities are immune to them...
Will sunder set monster's resistance up to 95% if it is below 95% before?
No, it only changes their resistance if they are above 100%
@@GGMentor Thank you.
So, what you're saying is the enemy resistance is reduced by x amount? Ok. ;)
I never learned how to read lol
Good thing you did learn to type then. 😉
Oops... I think I made some dishonest revenue with this things in the first couple days.
Lol
