- Movies make promises. They make us believe in heroes, in survival, in the rules of storytelling until they don’t. 1917, directed by Sam Mendes, is a cinematic gut punch, stripping away the illusion of protagonism in war. No chosen ones. No guarantees. Just fleeting lives in an unforgiving machine.
In this video, we break down 1917’s masterful deception, the brutal subversion of expectations, and the devastating truth behind its storytelling. From the unrelenting one-shot cinematography to the emotional weight of Schofield’s journey, every moment is designed to immerse us in the chaos, making us feel the horror, the exhaustion, and the raw fragility of human life. This is not just a war film. it’s a lesson in narrative betrayal, in the power of cinema to lull us into a false sense of security before ripping it away. I hope you enjoy the video :)

Fantastic video about a fantastic movie! Keep it going king! 🔥👑❤
Thank you my brother! 🤙🏻❤️
As a vet my running joke i tell people is "You know, war is just like the movies, you just don't know if you'll be the main character or one of the many background characters who get mulched to drive up ratings."
It has always saddened me how quick people are to forget the reality of conflict in favor of the delusion that they have a chance to become the chosen one.
It can also very well be down to soldiers having to deal with both adrenaline and fear during high-tense situations causing them to make rash decisions but as you also rightly mentioned there are no chosen ones when it comes to war
Also if you would like to share some stories I and I'm sure many others would love to hear them! And thank you for watching
I Can't help but love this serious, sweet, dramatic and calm story telling voice, that out of nowhere still ends to this ''HEY MY MAN!!!'' Literally my favorite part of the video! I was so focused on watching and listening, such a beautiful, powerful and emotional story and analysis... it got me crying slightly, but it got fixed immediately after hearing HEY MY MAN! I just freaking love your videos! Keep going my Bling bling fella 🤍
