When I saw a Skrewball mini bottle on the shelf I had to try it, and while I spent a long time licking the sugars off my lips, I was pleasantly surprised. It will never be my go-to sipper, but will be that occasional novelty shot over ice for sure!

The story behind this "Whiskey" is really cool. I am from Ocean Beach, the town where this was born. In particular at the O.B. Noodle house is where the peanut butter whiskey shots started so far as I can tell. The owner of the Noodle house (featured on diners, dives and drive ins), His name is Steve is a bit of a local and very successful legend. Started the Noodle House and became very successful, opened a second restaurant and now opened a very nice bar named the Holding Company or THC for short. I may not be the biggest fan of the whiskey itself but I'm proud of the fact that it came from our little Surfer/Hippy town of Ocean Beach!
Screwball is the best peanut butter whiskey out there. I keep it in the freezer as it's smoother and brings the flavor out even more. True peanut butter lovers will enjoy this whiskey, even if you're not a big fan of whiskey (like myself), this tastes so good.
I was given a bottle of this as almost a gag gift for Christmas. We had about 15 of us up late having some drinks and this fueled probably the most fun two sided ring toss tournament ever. This was great for the non whiskey drinkers. It was a good time and something we all said we’ll do again this year.
It must be a wife thing, my wife bought some a month or two ago and I drank it straight as well. Shat my brains out the next day, but on a positive note, goes great with ice cream.
I think this type of whiskey might be a bridge for people who don't think that they could ever like more traditional whiskey! Good buy at Costco! That Old Fashioned looks awesome!

My wife picked out a bottle of this for me too. It's not bad with a peppery ginger beer. Also root beer does it justice. Love the popcorn smell. Reminds me of when I walk into target these days.
The original way this was served out in California was a chilled shot with the shot glass rimmed with burnt sea salt. I became aware of this at OB Noodle House out in San Diego before it was bottled. There is a difference between the "fresh" version and the bottled version for sure. The bottled is very nice for mixing but not so good straight.
I like my Skrewball mixed with 360 Chocolate and Vanilla vodka. 2 part SB, 2 part 360 Choco and 1 part 360 Vanilla. Something close to a peanut butter cup cocktail. We keep it in the fridge to serve cold, even over ice from the fridge. About the only whiskey based drink she likes. She usually grabs a rum cocktail on vacation but this is her daily pour. p.s. Per my local liquor store it is the best selling bottle of hooch by far.
You can also poor a small amount a berry framboise in a shot glass with Skrewball and get Peanut Butter and Jelly shot. The better quality the framboise the better the taste. 👍👌
There is a chocolate liquor, can't remember the name sadly, that my buddy used and he made a shot that tasted just like a Reese'e peanut butter cup. It was amazing. But I'm a fat kid that likes Reese's. And it went pretty good with the Tabak Especials we were smoking.

Misleading call out, they have to stipulate that it WAS whiskey with Natural Flavours, but the way they have it is still being referred to as whiskey. It’s more of a liqueur. You are correct, Scotch, Irish & American whisky/whiskey needs to be 40% ABV/ 80 Proof

First you are right on the minimum 80 proof to be whiskey or scotch. That means Screwball had to start at 80 proof and worked down with whatever to get to 70 proof. And I also agree.....the does not count as whiskey videos. Glad you are back.
We just got a Buccee's in St. Augustine Fl. I live 10 min down the road and I love that place. Coolest gas station I have ever seen. And the brisket is backyard smoker quality. AMAZING!!

It's done well. In the realm of flavored whiskey, would take this over Fireball. Peanut butter infused whiskey is an old school classic. Smoke a cigar with it and the sweetness clompliments the carbon. Also, it's a good palate reset. Whiskey, espresso, soda, rock salt and lime and this slays all day. Cheers!
I got some of this to try it out in some mixed drinks. - add Cassis Liqeur for a 'PBJ' inspired drink... - add Godiva Chocolate Liqueur for a 'Reese's Cup' inspired drink.. Turns out, I'm not much of a mixed drink fan, so now it just sits in the cupboard with the liqueurs waiting for friends to visit.
My wife loves the smell and taste and she’s not a whiskey drinker. It takes me back to making peanut butter and cornflake treats at Christmas time when I was a kid.
My wife HATES whiskey and the smell of it whenever I drink it, but she LOVES Skrewball and convinced her two brothers and their wives to try it and THEY love it. I love drinking it just on the rocks and enjoying a cigar.
I hate snobs of all walks of life and have been looking for something like this for quite some time. Not a candy cordial like Fireball but something new and different (and lower power proof-wise). Skrewball hits all the marks (for me). Sheep Dog is 'ok' (certainly cheaper and doesn't trigger Peanut allergies), and as soon as I can find the other newcomers in the Peanut Butter space I'll try them too. Mostly I like the lower-proof (since I like to sip a few glasses and don't need the firepower of your typical whiskey - which I used to love 20 years ago - but now that I'm older - not so much). The fact that it's multi-modal between neat at room temp - and a different bevy of flavors after a couple of ice cubes, makes it a very fun beverage that won't clobber your head or your pocketbook. Special thanks for the bitters recommendation - I need to try that next!
Ok Jeremy since you are my age you will get this, Beaver Nuggets are straight up Waffle-O's from when we were young. Now about Screwball, I have liked it for a long time but definitely in small amounts only. It is a dessert drink and is better with a one ice cube. Haven't found much it mixes well with yet but haven't tried it with coffee so I will have to do that. Always great to have the wife in there as well.

I think the label is actually correct, because it's not "whiskey" it's "Whiskey with natural flavors" which is what Fireball, flavored Crown Royal, and all the flavored Tennessee Whiskies are on the label.

1:30 - Yep, you're thinking the right way. Whiskey as a TTB category has to be 80 proof. Flavored Whiskey is a different category completely than whiskey. It can be 60 proof but the way you can always tell it is flavored is the label section on the bottom. They always have to state the "recipe" which is "base spirit used + flavoring added" or "dominant flavor + base spirit." So here they are saying Base Spirit = whiskey, flavoring added = natural flavors and caramel color. If you read a label on Angel's Envy Bourbon they do the same thing because technically speaking there is no legal classification for finished bourbon so it is really Flavored Whiskey. Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey = Base Spirit + Finished in Port Barrels = Flavor Added.
Also, if there is enough sugar it goes to the Liqueur/Cordial category, but that is just depending on how much sugar is added so I would have to look up the label itself to see which one they submitted under.

Absolutely can't believe nobody mentioned this. 2oz Skrewball to 1.5oz Chambord. It's a dead on Peanut butter and Jelly in a glass! Rubbed a drop of cherry syrup on an Arturo Fuente Double Chateau.
Skrewball really shines on ice. But they also have PB&J and dark chocolate & banana that are pretty dang good. But at the risk of sounding like a snob, skrewball is also for those not well versed in whiskey or just not sure what they are tasting imho.
Not a big whiskey guy but the one whiskey I have found to get my foot in the door is howler head banana bourbon. If you haven't already should give it a try and possibly make a review video of it.
Was on a family trip to Florida a few weeks back. Family friend brought it to try. Just like you say it’s not a whiskey drinkers whiskey but it doesn’t taste bad. I sipped on it while eating s’mores after day drinking and it was very tasty.

I also love peanut butter porters and have been known to eat a spoon full of good ol creamy peanut butter right out of the jar… a lot. So I’m a weirdo biased I guess. That being said I’d pick Rams Point over Screwball any day. It’s not nearly as sweet, for me anyway. Never thought about trying it in ice coffee though. So I’m gonna do that.
Its not too bad, i sometimes mix it with the Jack apple. Also it is pretty good mixed with coffee and kahlua. Not crazy about it straight or on ice, and I love peanut butter, and whiskey. I'm also a pipe guy myself.

More often than not I find myself craving skrewball in place of traditional sweats or dessert. Its becoming one of my favorite treat sippers.

Good for one thing: keep in freezer and do shots. Mix with Godiva dark chocolate and it's a treat.

Add sparkling blackberry water to skrewball and you’ll get the peanut butter and jelly taste.
It’s really good mixing this skrewball whiskey with chocolate or mint ice cream in a blender! I highly recommend.

Not a big whiskey guy but the one whiskey I have found to get my foot in the door is howler head banana bourbon. If you haven't already should give it a try and possibly make a review video of it.
I like it for something different every once in a while. Mixed with 360 Double Chocolate, it tastes like a Reece's Cup.
Was on a family trip to Florida a few weeks back. Family friend brought it to try. Just like you say it’s not a whiskey drinkers whiskey but it doesn’t taste bad. I sipped on it while eating s’mores after day drinking and it was very tasty.

I prefer neat whisky but I’ll admit I don’t mind the PB whiskeys. I also love peanut butter porters and have been known to eat a spoon full of good ol creamy peanut butter right out of the jar… a lot. So I’m a weirdo biased I guess. That being said I’d pick Rams Point over Screwball any day. It’s not nearly as sweet, for me anyway. Never thought about trying it in ice coffee though. So I’m gonna do that.
Mix it with some wild berry Truly seltzer makes it better they call it the peanut butter and jelly
Its not too bad, i sometimes mix it with the Jack apple. Also it is pretty good mixed with coffee and kahlua. Not crazy about it straight or on ice, and I love peanut butter, and whiskey. I'm also a pipe guy myself.
The other brands of peanut butter whiskey aren’t good but skrewball is pretty damn delicious. Nothing to take seriously as “whiskey” but still good.
Love it when your wife joins you...these are fun! My missus loves whisky, but she's more of a Scotch & Sparkling Water fan.

My wife and I tried the Screwball mixed with the PBR hard coffee over ice. Pretty tasty!
Rim a shot glass with salt, half screwball and half coke. It's supposed to taste like peanuts in a coke.
