I love the framing of these scenes -- the upshots of both James and the lemurs. After seeing episode two and seeing how different this scene played out in the final version is amazing. The entire scene stuck with me after watching the episode. Desslar Coba seemed like a good guy, I kind of liked him. Seeing him talk to James and then just quietly slump over dead while James is looking at the file and talking about his own dislike of venom only to realize his friend is dead sent chills through me. There was subtle details I didn’t notice the first time I saw it, but during his last words “this really is and ugly planet” a small fleck of blood hits his hand and when James looks back up at him you see blood filling the corner of his mouth and coming out of his nose. And when eckblade says “your friend looks tired” you can really see the blood in his mouth trickling out 😨 Something about that is far more chilling than this version because you aren’t quite sure what killed poor Desslar. 2 years later and this is still my favorite clip, down to the tiniest detail of the one lemur’s eyes glancing at James’s hands, and James moving his hand slightly. The final product is truly going to be worth the wait!
I have watched this, no joke, close to 50 times in the span of a week. This one minute clip contains more tension than most of the two hour movies I've watched. The subtlety of the movements is masterful.
Looking back on this compared to the release of episode 2 just shows how much this dude improved even while doing episode two. Theres more intense angles and so much more lighting in this scene in episode 2 compared to this it just shows in retrospect on how much of a taste we really got by watching this all those years ago
The whole scene is just so f-ing tense, but what's really doing it for me is the subtle eye movements. The mute lemur silently scanning over James when he refuses to give up his gun just adds a whole other level to this.
This one minute long contextless clip put me on the edge of my seat more than any big studio thing I've seen in a very, very long time. I love the visual filter, and the audio has this almost compressed crunch that gives it a 70's vibe that I'm in love with. Please don't stop working on it!
I really like this clip. The music, the faces, the moment James snaps back at Eckblade. Makes total sense for things to get more tense if James did indeed catch him attempting to lie.
Also, another detail I like: James' ears. Of course, it isn't subtle, but the closer they get to what might be a bloodbath, they drop or are pulled back further. It's crazy he isn't baring fangs or anything. Also, does he really have a shooter? Or is there... something else about his hand? ;)
CLEARLY, this will be worth the wait. The shots, the music, the lighting, the voice acting with the subdued, muddled audio...all of it is phenomenal. I love how even original characters who might not be a big part of the story are given such care and attention. This is everything I imagined Star Fox was...and MORE. Keep it up!
Andreas Nordvall This scene gives off so much intensity. Peppy's condition, the tension between the two agents and James McCloud. Stellar. I am so happy he used this soundtrack. It's my favorite in his arsenal.
@@LeftytheGansterGremlin You were by no means wrong about the tension in the scene though. Right on about the music. The implication of impending violence just drips from every little beat.
@@WordBearer86 That's right. The only thing that comes to mind is that I imagine James thinking about Fox in these situations. If he dies on Venom, his son will never know.
The scene is beautiful... the subtle movements of the characters and the music... lordy the music... Then when James says that part, the music picks up in melody and tempo by only a bit and it just... it works. Keep it up man, this is what creative passion looks like.
Dude!.. the voice of Eckblade fits SO well.. I really like his body language and how calm he speaks while hes glaring at the same time.. you instantly understand that you shouldn't fuck with him.. Then there's the fact that Lemurs always have that freaky stare in theyre eyes.. even when their not doing anything. Very clever :)
wow the change from this to final was incredible to see, i think the final release of this scene was better, especially the framing and the blood being a almost missable detail instead of a giant pool of blood
Gosh this is gorgeuos animation. The audio makes it all sound like Im reminiscing about old cartoons in my head, and the visual grants nostalgia for something Ive never seen before
Dude there’s so much I love about this clip. The voice acting, the atmosphere, the camera work. The animation. But the best is The attention to detail with the character acting. The way James eyes shift to left and right quickly. The sign language the lemur makes when talking to his partner. I’ve been studying animation and let me say for what you’re doing must not be an easy task. But I’m glad you haven’t given up on this project! How your not in the industry I will never know! Please take all the time you need making this man!
70's. 80's was the era of cheep animation and toy commercials. 70's was washed out color filters and rotosocped backgrounds. Everything about this makes it feel like a an homage to Ralph Bakshi's style or animation.
For sure. and I do remember way more toy commercials during the 80's. The 90's did not seem to have as much. I stopped watching TV in the 2000's so I don't know what toy commercials are like now.
These two lemur characters are like... really interesting to watch, and I'm really excited to see what characters are made for this because holy crap it's soooo great
I dig the very specific audio editing. Old school style compression, and very heavy handed with the frequencies. There's a sweetness to everything that more than forgives the slightly crude animation.
This seems really good. The atmosphere is so intense and the corneria theme from 64(I believe it is) adds an particular touch to the scene. Can't wait for espisode 2. Keep up good work
I love the two details between the partners. Despite wearing the same outfit they have their own ways of showing their personality through the way they put themselves together. It’s subtle but when you notice it it makes it all the more beautiful.

I really love the overall tone you've given this series. This Space Noir style you've treated this is stellar. Zero was such a wasted opportunity, and it would've been a love letter to me and many others had they left Platinum to do what they do best, but they tied their hands entirely on the project. Thank you for your time and hard work with this series. This talent can't go to waste. Peace dude.

Dude this is so good. The music, the voice acting. Everything is so well executed. I felt so much tension lol. Can't wait to watch the whole episode.
Dude you're seriously amazing! I don't know how you got so good at this, but I know I love it:D
0:44 I know sign language!!!
I was deaf :D
Xusho Wolf Would you tell me what he said? Just curious.
Alex Kerper ~This is why I warn you bring to your gun now~
Xusho Wolf Thanks!
Alex Kerper
Helps increase tension because it reveals that only one of them has a piece, narrowing down who James should shoot first.
Thank you very much for this! I'm also impressed he got the accurate(or at least able to be well understood) signs in the animation!
This one minute long contextless clip put me on the edge of my seat more than any big studio thing I've seen in a very, very long time. I love the visual filter, and the audio has this almost compressed crunch that gives it a 70's vibe that I'm in love with. Please don't stop working on it!
I just LOVE the 80's feel, the audio, the animation. Everything is ON POINT!
Those 2 subtle eye movements on the second lemur assassin (after he signs), continually sizing up his target, really nice touch!
Keep it up!
What is this, Breaking Bad? Amazing direction, my dude.
Andreas Nordvall This scene gives off so much intensity. Peppy's condition, the tension between the two agents and James McCloud. Stellar. I am so happy he used this soundtrack. It's my favorite in his arsenal.
@@LeftytheGansterGremlin That's not Peppy. Guy is already dead too.
@@WordBearer86 Oohh, ok. Thanks for clearing that up! I appreciate it, my dude.
Seeing this and the final edit shows how much work was put into this. Very impressive job
Very clever :)
wow the change from this to final was incredible to see, i think the final release of this scene was better, especially the framing and the blood being a almost missable detail instead of a giant pool of blood
dude you are producing the magic that we need today. i could feel the intensity of the situation both parties felt in this clip
I can't even tell you how many times I've watched this clip. Excellent work, as usual! Can't wait for episode 2 to roll out!
But does the rabbit play games? o3o
I just realized that's James, not fox.
In this episode, Fox will be 12 years old.
And yes, that was James you just saw.
That is Star Fox senior. James is the name of his team >:(
Mr.Pat I was like "The fuck's with Fox's voice" 😂
@Andrés Legorreta
Ha, nice joke.
I imagine James is thinking of Fox in these intense situations. It's probably what keeps him alive and motivated.
Got to see this come together on stream. Loving how it's turning out! Great work
Gosh this is gorgeuos animation. The audio makes it all sound like Im reminiscing about old cartoons in my head, and the visual grants nostalgia for something Ive never seen before
The plot thickens
King Koi the thick plotens
King Koi Brock Berrigan...
The voice acting in this is so good, keep up the great work my man!
So badass, so 80's
Lord Kiyo absolute filth
Trash.

Viewer discretion advised. Contemporary toy commercials are known to cause suicidal tendencies.
Yee
Oh, man, this looks even better! Keep up the great work, Fred!
Gaw damn these shoots, angles and perspectives are so well done
This was uploaded on my birthday. This is my birthday present.
OtakuChan happy birthday 🎉🙌🏾
Jay C. THANK YOU!!
Happy birthday! :P
OtakuChan no prob man. Have a blessed birthday
Happy Birthday to you!
I love how parts of the corneria theme from starfox 64 is played in the beginning and ending of the video, i love these subtle easter eggs
These two lemur characters are like... really interesting to watch, and I'm really excited to see what characters are made for this because holy crap it's soooo great
They literally die one second after this scene ends...
Keep up good work
The colour effects, saturation and massive use of vignettes make this subtly awesome.
I love the two details between the partners. Despite wearing the same outfit they have their own ways of showing their personality through the way they put themselves together. It’s subtle but when you notice it it makes it all the more beautiful.
I can't anymore, I'm getting desesperate...NEED TO SEE FULL CAP!
man, 3 years following your channel, I feel like it was yesterday when I first saw the first chapter. Hope you get the support to make this an actual monthly series.
i love James' persona!! he looks so cool :b
My god! Amazing work as always. You really breathe life into the characters.
Even though I am not a fan of Star Fox. For the first time. This interested me in the series for the first time in years to come.
In my heart ❤ THANK YOU A Fox In Space.
I like how you give us subtle clues in each clip that expand upon the actual story. So genius.
after watched the 2nd episode this scene is a lot tense than the final release
Wow, now that the episode is out I'm amazed to see that you re-did the whole scene in different angles. Must've been a tough decision.
this needs to be a professional series with a whole team of animators! So impressed, its just a min clip but this got me hype for S2!
I really love the overall tone you've given this series. This Space Noir style you've treated this is stellar. I think I can confidently say you've given this series more love than the creators have properly shown since 64. Zero was such a wasted opportunity, and it would've been a love letter to me and many others had they left Platinum to do what they do best, but they tied their hands entirely on the project. Thank you for your time and hard work with this series. This talent can't go to waste. Peace dude.
This has a strong classic James Bond vintage feel all over it. Awesome. Love the animation and the fact that you're doing all by yourself blows my mind even further. Hope you get assistants to ease the workload a bit.
The animation and voices are so amazingly perfect
I dunno what I love more about this. That Jack Wall-ass soundtrack in the back or having an assassin speak in sign language, this is utterly fantastic and I cannot wait to see what you pull out for episode 2
I would give anything to have a network pick this up. This is currently the freshest animation out there. Please Mathew keep up the great work!
JAMES IS SO COOL! Keep going!
I keep coming back and watching this- I cannot wait for this because the level of effort you put into this is amazing and I know it’ll be beautiful
This lemur duo reminds me of the two hitmen from Fargo season 1. Grady Numbers and the deaf dude, Wes Wrench-they use sign language too.
Keep up the good work!3 years and i am still amazed
