This skit was a way for Mike to do his impressions again. Since he had taken over host duties he didn't get to do them as often. This was to help remedy that. This was also done a few years before Jeff Smith, the Frugal Gourmet, was accused of molesting SEVEN different male teenagers
LMAO "What is essential to this dish is a fresh robot net!" It's host segments like these that keep me hooked (no matter how many times I've seen them).
When Mike started using Servo as a pepper grinder, I cracked up! LOL As to the scout leader, Crash Test Dummy, and the Frugal Gourmet, I have to say that Mike is one of the best mimics I've ever seen! He not only physically resembles the person but has all the voice and physical mannerisms. His wife Bridget is great too! Wish I remembered the answer to @bowtoyoursensei question--I 'm sure it's available on UA-cam...
Mike: C'mon, is it so hard to be nice? Servo: Yes 1:03-1:40 whoa, a "This Boy's Life" reference in MST#K?? Wow, didn't expect that! At least Mike didn't try to strangle them like De Niro did to Leo in the movie Mike: Hey you guys done with these magazines? Crow & Servo: AHHHHH!
Mean Mike is so like one of my scout leaders, Dave Lonsway, that it's almost creepy. He acts like mean Mike when he's talking some sense into us, ME especially, He jokes around with me, gives me a hard time, and sometimes bugs me. I'm from Fort Wayne Indiana, I say Pop. Just saying soda just sounds weird and awkward, I'm in Boy Scouts. Did the best brains have a lot of former boy scouts in the studio, and are Minnesota Scout leaders mean?
Gahahahahahahahahahah this rules!!!! God bless Mst3k, amen :) P.S. does anyone have clips of mike's wife when she plays "Nuveena, Mike's singing love interest"? Wikipedia only just told me she did that, and now I wanna see it!
Late reply I know, but if anyone is curious, this is during episode 5x24 _Twelve to the Moon,_ although it's actually riffing on the short they did called "Design for Dreaming".
"What you need and what's essential to this dish is a beautiful robot net and... Holy shit, is this thing stuck on!"
Being such a huge fan of Crash Test Dummies, I cannot ever remember laughing so hard at an MST skit as this one!
I saw this clip while being fitted for a bridesmaids dress. Thanks to the Brad Roberts part, I split the seams on it. THANKS GUYS!

The Frugal Gourmet needs to talk with Chris Hansen.
Mike and the bots share such a good relationship.
its so adorable
Valoric The Dragon I agree! Too cute! 😊

I know a thing or two about a thing or two!

I love the midwestern, abusive scout leader!!
Mike: C'mon, is it so hard to be nice?
Servo: Yes
1:03-1:40 whoa, a "This Boy's Life" reference in MST#K?? Wow, didn't expect that! At least Mike didn't try to strangle them like De Niro did to Leo in the movie
Mike: Hey you guys done with these magazines?
Crow & Servo: AHHHHH!
Magic voice is right. Crow and Tom ARE ingrates. What I wouldn't give to have Mike be MY roommate....
I love that outtake.
Mike as the Frugal Gourmet was the best!
I never would have heard of "the Frugal Gourmet" if not for this. It's funny how these shows can act as time capsules.
Mean Mike is so like one of my scout leaders, Dave Lonsway, that it's almost creepy.

I’m from Lagrange Indiana originally my Boy Scout troop was a changed a few times but yeah I know the kinda thing your talking about lol
I'm drinking Pop as I'm watching this
"I know a thing or two about a thing or two."
He's the lead singer of the band Crash Test Dummies, from the 90s.
Awww, Mike made snacks for them, just because??? That's so sweet!!!
I missed this the first time it aired and recently saw on the marathon. I can't stop watching this clip!!!!
You know, I could see GLaDOS doing the voice of Magic Voice 4 this skit! It's all the right kinds of cruelty that's right up her alley! :)
I was drinking my pop as I watching this.
You'd better believe I finished it.
Mike, those guys are robots, they don't need to eat cheese sandwiches you loveable putz
What Mike did to Crow and Tom Servo in the Frugal Gormet sequence made me cry. *Sniff*
"What you need is a fresh robot net and... holy shit, is this thing on..."
I remember it vaguely, it ended when I was 5 years old, but I used to watch a lot of public television. Not such a bad thing.
rotfl the scout master was brilliant, like a Minnesotan Robert Deniro
Mike says both pop and soda.
This piece is awesome and I
the bots having seizures during the Crash Test Dummy scene is freaking awesome
I sure do miss Jeff Smith. Thanks for the tribute to him.
So if Mike were mean . . . he'd be Canadian?
@vonzigle It's from Code Name: Diamond Head
(bad Mike) "I know a thing or two about a thing or two!"
Imagine how much better this host segment would be of they replaced Brad Roberts with Chad Kroeger.
Mike does a hilarious Frugal Gourmet
pop cans.. good...
BRAD ROBERTS!!!
The little rapscallions lmao
"no springs" meets "a christmas carol" by way of urkel.
ooooh, I've never seen that. Thanks! He sounds like a character from "Fargo", as well!
The Jeff Smith parody was pretty perfect.
you forgot Mikes tripping!
What I get from this clip is that when Mike is mean he goes into a "Fargo/Canadian" accent!
Hmmmm idea for overpriced salt and pepper dispensers.
pop. its definately a minnesotan thing. im from minnesota and everybody says pop. hahaha. i miss this show it was totally awesome.
I live in Michigan. It must be an M-State thing!
I just saw the episode this was from not too long ago it was awesome. The accent is Chicago or Minnesotan
@GreenGearMood "That's a done pop!"
I live in Missouri. Most of the people I know say pop.I prefer to say soda, myself.
I felt bad for the bots though; they were crying. :'(
His frugal gourmet was good
Tom = Pepper shaker! Why didn't I see it before!?
All I have to do is see "Less Nice Mike" in the boy scout uniform and I lose it!
I know a thing or two about a thing or two...
@Blacklemon67 I was thinkin' Wisconsinite? Excuse me, Wiskaaaaansinyte...
What short/movie clip was this segment in response to?
