I think its hilarious how many Riverdale mentions were in this video. Just the thought of him sitting there with how analytical his mind is watching Riverdale is just too funny to me. Because I'm afraid the latest season is probably beyond his comprehension.
And this was even worse since 1. Wallen’s music getting this much traction after everything he did is deplorable (not to say he shouldn’t be forgiven but it’s not a good look for society that his double album was so huge even after the controversy) and 2. Unlike Drake, whose one good hit from that year was one of his best and one of the best of the decade, Wallen’s best hit wasn’t that good and isn’t something many are eager to return to!
Christmas Traditions: Open Presents Family Dinner Watch Films Play Party Games … check out Mark roast the worst hits of the year! 😂 Happy holidays to you all. :)
15:16 - Is it bad that, thanks to one of my hobbies, I can tell exactly where the scenes in the video of the singer (I assume) is being driven towards a railroad crossing was shot? And, for anyone curious, it's Main Street in McEwen, TN. The signals shown in the video are relatively new, having been installed sometime within the past year or two, IIRC, replacing a pair of gateless signals. The train shown would be CSX I125 (Memphis, TN to Savannah, GA intermodal service), based on the direction the train is going and the footage shown being mirrored.
Hey Mark, that was a really fun video but I want to query you on something you said about your #5 pick. You claim the songs virality was due to “To The Moon” being a common catchphrase amongst crypto fans. However, this being the source of the songs virality doesn’t seem to be true. I skimmed through the top 500 or so tiktok videos that used the sound and only found ONE that mentioned crypto or nfts. All the other videos were of everyday tiktoks, and it wouldn’t be accurate to act like that one somewhat popular video was the source of the songs virality when there were normal videos released weeks before it that accumulated more views. A google search for jnr chois name followed by “nft” and “crypto” didn’t lead to anything either, so I strongly disagree with the idea that the songs VIRALITY was linked to the popularity of crypto. Other critics I’ve seen talk about this have concluded that the single art and title are a marketing tactic, and left it at that. In reality, the song appears to have become popular without this marketing tactic having an effect but I’ll be open to hear any evidence you have to prove otherwise. The reason I’ve looked into this all so much is because, as a casual fan of UK hip hop, I’ve seen many artists try their damn hardest to break into America, so it’s great to see the first UK hip hop song make billboards year end list in 11 years regardless of whether or not it’s a ‘good’ song or how strong the reputation of the rapper is. It’s just a shame that a lot of these chart communities have latched onto this stigma which doesn’t appear to be based in reality. Other than that, the video was enjoyable. I appreciate the audaciousness of that #2 pick even if I don’t agree with it!!
You didn't constantly hear "Big Energy" on the radio, but "Surface Pressure" got overplayed? What alternate dimension do you come from, other than Canada?
#2 was something... But yeah I'm struggling to put on worst list this year unless using other chart, but here's my worst list if I'm only use Hot 100 Year End 1. Broadway Girls 2. I Like You (A Happier Song) 3. She Likes It 4. Big Energy 5. Take My Name 6. Cold Heart 7. Super Gremlin 8. AA 9. Sweetest Pie 10. You Proof
I genuinely don't understand how someone could hate She Likes It. Not because it's good (because it's not), but more because it's too forgettable and bland for me to even remember much less form an opinion on.
As someone who was a fan of imagine Dragons in their teens (I own both Night Visions and Smoke&Mirrors) the way they fell from doing decent pop/alt rock to... whatever they're doing now hurts my soul. Enemy, the radio version is just...not good. Not enough energy, the rap there feels tacked on. I liked the version used as the intro to Arcane: faster, with more punch and energy which match the song much more in my opinion
"...a cartoon theme song for the TV show based on League of Legends." Some-one barely knows what Arcane is. I also do, and I dig it. Crappy theme nonwitstanding.
Been waiting for this since the Billboard YE list dropped, always love watching this. Something I think would be interesting in future worst lists would a Canadian contenders list similar to the best list because it would be interesting to see the worst from that chart, or maybe even a global contenders one.
Yeah I feel like including the other charts like the UK and Canada or using the Global 200 would help him give more choices for his best and worst lists I mean the US year end is becoming more and more boring every year because yes some songs are there from last year's year end and also Christmas songs and album bombs don't make the lists any easier to make
I mean I don't need them in the mix for the Worst list since this is the Hot 100, I just wanna see what he thinks of the bad stuff in Canada or globally, but considering how bad some of these songs are I can understand why he wouldn't wanna cover it or go out of his way to find bad stuff. If you want a less stale list wait for his personal bests list to come out, I love those because he gives the same level of passion and attention to indie projects as the mainstream stuff.
I get there are people who didn't love Encanto like I did, but damn Surface Pressure at number 2? I mean I don't love the song, but I think it serves its purpose pretty well! To each their own but man I did not expect any of that rant when it happened!
Ahaha. Todd put in on his worst hit song list too. I was aghast because I genuinely like the song but I totally get where they're coming from too. Made me laugh because it's the first time probably ever where I was in disagreement with a song from this type of list.
There is a problem that serving its purpose in the movie doesn't translate to earning any points when heard outside of it. Since a lot of these critics aren't sitting down to just watch the latest Disney films their context is "I had to listen to this while reviewing the year's hits? What the fuck?" not as part of the film and that's how they judge it...although at least besides some exacts "I'm stuck under tons of pressure from people who see me doing fantastic works and just don't understand that I still have limits" at least is more widely applicable than "This one family's weird uncle" so I really really don't get how We Don't Talk About Bruno is evading at least dishonorable mentions for not being something that should've ever been allowed success on actual music platforms.
@@jacobbrown9894 The entire Encanto soundtrack dominating the pop charts in the beginning of 2022 was an experience for sure. Even "The Family Madrigal", a song that can't be generalized or separated from the context of the movie, made it to number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 at the beginning of February 2022. The Frozen soundtrack was popular in 2013, but it's not like "Do You Want to Build a Snowman" or "Fixer-Upper" reached the top 25 in 2013 or 2014.
@@TuesdaysArt and even though I never saw the movie, I can get "Let It Go". "Surface Pressure" confused me cuz of the word talk singing, rap-but-not-really rhythm. I bet it works in the narrative of the film but alas, it wasn't presented as such.
I know you remarked about how much power radio had on the Hot 100 throughout 2022, but what I found most interesting about your top 2 (which were hits early on in the year when radio was at its most stagnant point) was that neither song had a major radio push; they never even hit the Mediabase top 50 of any format that I know. Both of them were streaming hits that managed to stick around just long enough and high enough to be considered one of the 100 biggest hits of the year on the chart. It sucks, but that's just the way it works in the mainstream nowadays. Anyway, great video! Looking forward to the next three.
I honestly think that it's telling of pop music this year as a whole that, of the hits from Post Malone's 'Twelve Karat Toothache', 'One Right Now', a song about just wallowing in being one's worst self, was much better and much more honest than 'I Like You (A Happier Song)', the fakest of fake songs that ever faked.
I'm surprised this isn't on the list. It's not even a real song. It's a mashup/cover, as if the radio is afraid of just playing classic Elton John songs as they're supposed to be listened to.
Since you mentioned it in the intro, if I could make a suggestion for your year-end hits lists in the future, I would love if you included songs that made the Canadian Year-End Hot 100 but also charted in the US at some point (so that you can at least say you got an opportunity to talk about them on Billboard Breakdown beforehand). I know you do Canadian Contenders on your best list these days, but if you take my suggestion, you can retire that portion altogether in favor of giving the Canadian hits more detailed segments on your lists.

I respect your opinion on number 2, but there are a few points there I am just not sure are true. The main one being about radio getting behind Surface Pressure, when it was not a radio song at all. At best, it had very little radio play if any. We Don’t Talk About Bruno is the one that got a minor radio run Also, I would say Encanto songs definitely had a lot more people than children listening to them on their own accord than you might think

Nobody: The One: "That's so racist" (after someone here says 'Super Gremlin' is the worst hit song of the year). Also The One: Uses the N-word slur in literally every Billboard Breakdown video! 🤦
2022 was very much "the year that existed" to me. There were very few songs I liked or disliked this year to the point where I was only able to make top 5 lists for both categories. In any other year, Heat Waves wouldn't have come close to having had such enormous success. Speaking of which, I didn't even realize that it had also charted on the Billboard 2021 Year End list until just now when I rewatched the top 10 worst hit songs of 2021 video.
Aight yall, here's my list Top Ten Worst Hit Songs of 2022 (IMO) 1. Wasted On You: Morgan Wallen 2. Broadway Girls: Lil Durk ft. Morgan Wallen 3. Enemy: Imagine Dragons and J.I.D. 4. Unholy: Sam Smith ft. Kim Petras 5. You Proof: Morgan Wallen (Seriously, Morgan Wallen can go screw himself) 6. She Likes It: Russell Dickerson and Jake Scott 7. Super Gremlin: Kodak Black 8. Boyfriend: Dove Cameron (Talk about wasted potential) 9. I Like You (A Happier Song): Post Malone ft. Doja Cat 10. Take My Name: Parmalee Dishonorable Mentions: Fingers Crossed: Lauren Spencer Smith Pushin P: Gunna ft. Future and Young Thug AA: Walker Hayes One Right Now: Post Malone ft. The Weeknd ABCDEFU: Gayle Big Energy: Latto Cold Heart (PNAU Remix): Elton John and Dua Lipa Trouble With A Heartbreak: Jason Aldean
I've actually softened on "Boyfriend" for a little while not because of the lyrics and the whispy vocals adjacent to Billie Eilish but the production arrangement sounds interesting and it does have bombast. Some people have compared this song to "Treat You Better" but I don't agree with them. Aside from that good list!
Airplay is absolutely ruining the Hot 100. It’s way too impactful in the charts, and does nothing but disorient the already inaccurate description of what popular music is today.
This year I did something a little different: Due to how many repeat songs there were (also four Christmas songs) I increased the eligibility: Any song that made the Billboard Year End for 2022 AND any song that made the Global 200 Year End. However, it had to have at least charted on the Hot 100. With all that being said, here is my list: #1: You Proof - Morgan Wallen #2: One Right Now - Post Malone ft. The Weeknd #3: Pushin P - Gunna & Future ft. Young Thug #4: abcdefu - GAYLE #5: She Likes It - Russell Dickerson ft. Jake Scott #6: I Love You So - The Walters #7: I'm Good (Blue) - David Guetta & Bebe Rexha #8: Trouble With A Heartbreak - Jason Aldean #9: Take My Name - Parmalee #10: Big Energy - Latto ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dishonorable Mentions: Unstoppable - Sia Boyfriend - Dove Cameron Cold Heart (PNAU Remix) - Elton John & Dua Lipa Do It To It - Acraze ft. Cherish I Ain't Worried - OneRepublic AA - Walker Hayes I Like You (A Happier Song) - Post Malone ft. Doja Cat Unholy - Sam Smith & Kim Petras Broadway Girls - Lil Durk ft. Morgan Wallen Infinity - Jaymes Young
I agree with this whole list other than Unholy, which have somehow come to love even though I cringe at the lyrics in Kim's verse. Personally, I don't mind her voice in the song and feel like she is a fitting addition, the writers just needed to step it up like a whole staircase with the lyrics.
My Worst Hit Songs list consists of: 10. Boyfriend by Dove Cameron 9. To the Moon! by JNR CHOI & Sam Tompkins 8. She likes it by Russell Dickerson ft. Jake Scott 7. First Class by Jack Harlow 6. Pushin P by Gunna, Future & Young Thug 5. Surface Pressure by Jessica Darrow 4. Fingers crossed by Lauren Spencer Smith 3. Unholy by Sam Smith ft. Kim Petras 2. Break my Soul by Beyoncé 1. Bam Bam by Camila Cabello ft. Ed Sheeran
Predictions based on the thumbnail: - Jimmy Cooks will likely be on the Dishonourable Mentions, if not higher. - I Like You (A Happier Song) is on the Worst List. - Morgan Wallen has 3 songs here: Broadway Girls and Wasted On You at the DMs, while You Proof is at the Worst List, proper. - Unholy by Sam Smith and Kim Petras will be anywhere at number 10-6 on the Worst List (Mark said on Twitter that the remixes of Unholy keep it from being the bottom 5, despite getting allcaps WOTW on Billboard BREAKDOWN). Other predictions: - Super Gremlin is in the top 5 - Big Energy is on the Worst List - Bam Bam, despite getting Honourable Mention, will likely be on the DMs - Either She Likes It by Russell Dickerson or Take My Name by Parmalee is on the Worst List, the other is in the DMs - Despues de la Playa is on the DMs (It was Mark's least favorite song on Un Verano Sin Ti, it got a Dishonourable Mention on Billboard BREAKDOWN) - AA is on the Worst List - pushin p is at least on the Worst List - Cold Heart (PNAU Remix) is on the DMs - I Ain't Worried is on the Worst List - Enemy is on the Worst List My predictions for what is on the Worst List and the DMs (The DMs usually have seven songs): Dishonourable Mentions: - Bam Bam by Camila Cabello feat. Ed Sheeran - Despues de la Playa by Bad Bunny - Broadway Girls by Lil Durk feat. Morgan Wallen - Wasted On You by Morgan Wallen - She Likes It by Russell Dickerson feat. Big Energy by Latto 3. AA by Walker Hayes 2. You Proof by Morgan Wallen 1. Super Gremlin by Kodak Black Aftermath: The only predictions I got right were She Likes It, Jimmy Cooks and Unholy. I did not expect Lauren Spencer-Smith nor Surface Pressure at all. Also, regarding Encanto: Does Mark think Abuela's actions were too cruel to be apologized?
This is a pretty good prediction, ngl! Also, even though I also predicted it, I really hope Bam Bam doesn't wind up on this list because I actually think it's a pretty great song! I also think Enemy and Big Energy might switch positions on this list
@@TheBlackPanther05 lmao i just remembered when it charted he said he’ll take it, i wonder how many people got mad cause everyone hates that song and im talking about people outside of the community too, i dont like it but there were way worse songs this year(You Proof literally exists)
I was honestly surprised that surface pressure made the list. I rewatched the entirety of this season of billboard breakdown pretty recently and I didn’t this the vitriol was that strong. Anyway, great video, mark!

@@TheBlackPanther05 Much like with Hey Look Ma I Made It in 2019, which he didn't slam too hard when it debuted, then come December, boom, it's his most hated hit song of that year. Caught me off-guard here too
While I was expecting all the other songs to appear on this list at some capacity, surface pressure being on the list was a complete surprise. It will probably go on as one of the hottest takes he’s ever made.
Wow I’ve never disagreed more with this year list lol. I thought #2 and #3 were pretty decent to good. Especially didn’t expect them to land this high, especially the former. I also don’t mind I Ain’t Worried that bad. I think some of the dishonorable mentions were far worse tbh
"Unstoppable" was now a victim of caught between years but "Truth About You"? Nah, that song is a break-up piece of crap because you know, I still remember his review when the song charted along with "Free Mind" by Tems, "ARSON" by j-hope, "2 Be Loved" by Lizzo and unfortunately, "Pick Me Up" by Gabby Barrett. Good thing the radio plummeted.

So far, 2020s decade seem off to a good start of record breaking for Country Music... Especially some has hit the Top 2 position of the ten worst hit song Ngl, you did it again. You surprised me on that Encanto pick there. Just like you surprised me that (back to back) on MIDDLE CHILD to Hey Look Ma, I Made It from both J. Cole and Panic! at the Disco Luisa ain't no way she deserved that wrecking ball, Mark
Damn, I haven't listened to mainstream country in a couple years, but was I the only one caught off guard with how dead and cold sounding these songs were? Country music, even the mainstream stuff, used to sound so much more full and either comforting or powerful.
Mainstream country music was actually pretty good this year for the most part, just avoid pretty much anything by Morgan Wallen, Russell Dickerson, Jason Aldean or Walker Hayes. Something In The Orange, 'Til You Can't, You Should Probably Leave, Rock and a Hard Place, Never Say Never, She Had Me at Heads Carolina, and even Sand in My Boots are some of my favorite hits of 2022.

Man, Morgan Wallen just had an absolutely awful year. All of his hits just sounded so miserable and unlikable, especially the collab with Lil Durk. I remember hearing it the first time on Billboard Breakdown last year and I cringed so hard. The audio is just so badly mixed; it's laughable that veteran producers were behind it. Kinda sad that the two big trends of the bad songs this year were the artists involved either half-assing their songs, or just desperately trying to get forgiveness for awful deeds.
Very ingesting list like always. That #2 caught me completely off-guard. My own list removed the repeats and Christmas songs and replaced them with the closest right under the YE. 10. @@aayushdhurka2425 Yeah I get it. I understand why people like it but I cannot stand how it sounds. It was my number 1 for most of the year until I relistened to my number 1 & 2.
It sounds like Mark hasn't seen Arcane yet. Which is a shame because it's so fucking good. Arcane is a brilliant show. More people should watch it. Anyone who hasn't solely because of Imagine Dragons is missing out.
Wow, wasn’t expecting surface pressure, but relatability is probably what kept it going for me. I enjoyed watching, all the best coming into the new year
Spoilers for Mark's #1 I had basically the opposite reaction to Morgan wallens singles this year, I like Broadway girls quite a bit, while I would have had you proof and don't think Jesus much higher on my worst of. Wallen presenting himself as a loser having a miserable night out surrounded by people he hates works for me. It's the only one of the singles that contains any sort of self reflection imo. Not something good or productive, but "this night, much like myself, sucks". Idk, I find that compelling. Much more than the sterile, boring regression of you proof or the lame, unearned apology of Don't think Jesus. Also, the sound of Broadway girls works for me, not the majority opinion but I know I'm not on an island with it. I'm not sure if any of this would be true or compelling if you weren't invested in wallen to begin with, Like I was, and even then he's someone i feel kinda dumb defending. I could be giving him too much credit based on lingering positive feelings for the 2019 singles. But idk, Broadway girls works in the same way sand in my boots/more than my home town did, at least for me.
I can honestly see this song kind of working in this light as a kind of unflattering character portrait. Still not on board but I at least get where you're coming from and respect the interpretation, in part because I typically like songs like that.
Thoughts on your list. Just my opinion btw Dishonorable mentions 1. I actually like this song but to each their own 2. Haven't heard it. 3. Agreed. Also, shoutout for you using the pun Riverdalecore to describe this song and agree that this song was cashing on Olivia Rodrigo. Plus, spot on that teenage angst in music can be done well. You just need to have good execution. Bland Pop at its finest 4. Haven't heard it 5. Haven't heard it 6. Haven't heard it 7. Haven't heard it 10. Haven't heard it. Chris Brown should be added with Morgan Wallen when you mentioned consuming the art after controversial behaviour and the artist never going away because of that 9. Haven't heard it. Leave him back in 2017 where he belongs 8. Haven't heard it. Aside from that song, both artists were associated to obtain money from RICO 7. I don't think this song was bad as it was used in Top Gun: Maverick which was my 2'nd favourite movie of this year but can understand the flaws about being 5 years late to the party when you mentioned Portugal the Man's Feel It Still (Still a good song imo) 6. Agreed. This song also had potential to bring Hyperpop to the mainstream but instead wasted it and is a diet version of what SOPHIE (R.I.P to her) and 100 gecs did 5. Haven't heard it 4. It's fine but wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it. 3. Same thing with No 4 2. Surprisingly I actually like this song. I even thought Encanto was a really good movie, but I respect your opinion on it 1. Haven't heard it
One of the most heartbreaking moments of my life happened earlier this year, when the Kids Choice Awards followed up the year they nominated Be Kind for Favorite Collaboration with nominating Walker Hayes for Favorite Breakout Artist. Kids Choice Awards, I've been following you for fourteen years. Even as someone who turned 20 this year, I still pay attention to you because you're the Chaddest award show and not because of a mixture of wanting good ironic enjoyment and stockholm syndrome. I always vote on the first day of voting, and I never miss the show itself every year except 2020 and 2021 because I don't have cable anymore and Nickelodeon wasn't on the live TV version of Hulu at the time. With 2021, you reward thirteenth years of support with nominating Be Kind while others slept on it because you understood it's a good song, and not because someone went "Kids like the Marshamallo" and that was his biggest hit that wasn't with a dead person. And how did you reward me during the fourteenth year? Nominating my arch nemesis. And during the same year you nominated a movie with a version of Could Have Been Me, and two Looney Tunes things too. Two things that are some of my twenty favorite things ever. Nominating Walker Hayes for Favorite Breakout Artist in particular is like that Caddicarus line. "That is an insult to fucking Giveon. That is a fucking insult to Giveon. In fact, no, apparently Walker Hayes got nominated over Kalis Uchis. It was nominated over Chris Stapleton." Now I have to say, "When something is nominated for a Kids Choice Awards, it means it's one of the most important (Insert the Category Here) of the year unless it's Walker Hayes." Then again, I heard rumors that something forced the KCA council to nominate that anyways. Can't tell if this was the dumbest or greatest thing I wrote. Being serious for a minute, how much money do you want to bet that they don't even know about his other song at the time? How much do you want to bet that they still don't know about his other song?

Regarding unholy. Getting Hozier on some kind of song with Sam Smith would be a dream come too. Have them sing to eachother. It would glorious. And yeah Kin Petras does not suit the song and feels like how Cardi B was in that Maroon 5 song
I have a soft spot for Broadway Girls, I can understand why it's hated but as someone who's had other relentlessly shitty trap country drilled into his skull, this one at least was upfront with it's intentions and not trying to sugarcoat it. I do agree with this list and respect your opinion, but I just think that there's worse songs out there personally.

I do agree that it was actually kinda difficult to choose some of these songs because a lot of them are mainly middle of the road.
I still have not made my top 10 worst hits of 2022 but I’ll give y’all my top spot. 1. Kodak Black-Super Gremlin Truly a miserable and annoying song from one of the worst artists to ever gain success. The song is so bad and even the catchiness is filled with bad lyrics and even worse delivery. Don’t get why people give this one a pass, it’s abysmal.
Yeah, this year blew for popular music. The good stuff flopped/underperformed, and the bad stuff stayed around for way too long. I actually liked some of the songs on this list [Big Energy, Unholy, I Like You] but a lot of this stuff, the country and rap ones especially, should have never touched the charts or been made at all.
"Good stuff flopped/underperformed" See: Sacrifice and Out of Time. I remember hearing the former in the opening days of the year thinking it was destined to blow up. Sadly, people believed that The Weeknd had been too overexposed at the time.
Because i Know Mark doesn't do this type of list Here is My Top 10 Worst album Of 2022 list: 10. Chris Brown- Breezy (1 hour and 20 Minutes of new Chris Brown Material, Who the f*** wants to listen to that?) 9. Flex Gang Vol. 4 (I know everything from Flex Entertainment is not to be take serously, however Big Baller B homies at Flex sometimes surpised in the past we stand out moments, on Flex Gang Vol.2 Yung Schmoobin surpised me with "Facts no Fiction" and the unique merengue sample and even last year Flex Gang Vol. 3 Ivan Knight and his imaginary friends and Lil Squeaky created Covered In Blood that was full on Synthpop, their is no unique stand outs on Vol 4, Nothing and again, lack of Big Baller B is very noticable, serously Flex Entertainment crew, do better next year, please) 8. Hollywood Undead- Hotel Kalifornia (Really, this band still exist in 2022? Yeah and they release an album this year and yeah this still is as inmature and haven't grown up, really who still listens to Hollywood Undead? Because in my opinion it's about to expand your taste in music.) 7. Nav- Demons Protected By Angels (i use to call NAV a human vocaloid, but in all honesty Hatsune Miku has more personality than NAV, who still likes this guy) 6. DJ Khaled- GOD DID!!!! (GOD DID, GOD DID, GOD DID, GOD DID, SHUT THE F*** UP, Good lord this is thw most annoying catchphase by "The Qunicy Jones Of Hip Hop", who once again releases an album with frankenstein monster collabs that do not make sense, cringly lyrics "My Sneezes like Yeezus" really Em, were going down to revival era verses and or course Staying alive with Drake, Barry Gibb your always free to sue this guy at anytime.) 5. Drake & 21 Savage- Her Loss (Of course making a boring house album wasn't enough of new Drake Material we needed, we get this album where we get the same boring formula from Drake but even worse, especally Circo Loco which going for Tean Tory Lanze, Drake, Really, No) 4. Walker Hayes- Country Stuff: The Album (I don't know what was worse, having to suffer and watching episodes of High Guardian Spice or listening and suffering though the songs made by the "High Guardian Spice of Country Music" Walker Hayes. This album is all i don't like of Mainstream Country Pop all combined into 1 album, the title track is still the worst song by Walker Hayes, U Girl is so stupid, AA is embarrasing, and what do i need to add about Fancy Like, like Come on, this is the worst country album of the year.) 3. Kodak Black- Back For Everything (We are trying so hard to get rid of Vic Migongna, However that same energy isn't being applied to Kodak Black, I don't like his music at all and i hope qe don't have to deal with him next year but i doubt it.) 2. Machine Gun Kelly- Mainstream Sellout (I CALLED IT, I was open last year about Tickets to my downfall, now MGK has gotten even worse and i happy people are agreeing with me, MGK is the "High Guardian Spice of Pop Punk", MGK is poser to Pop Punk, Their was nothing redeeming about this album at all.) 1. Jerm- Grand Ole Oppotunity (Ok, This album came out in the summer of last year, however thanks to Jon Of ARTV recent video sharing us about this former bassest of Paramore Jeremy Davis new music direction here, I had to this year listen to his album and wow, I'm am still processing that this guy who was apart of the Biggest Pop Rock Bands of the past 2 decades decide to go on a Trap Music Direction and the quality is about as bad as you might think, this was Torture to listen to, I could not get though it, I can't believe this is a Music direction Jeremy, I'm Sorry, Jerm Beats, No just JERM becuase the name Jerm Beats was already taken dude is so lazy he didn't bother to research that Info. Avoid this album, don't do what i did. Dishonorable Mentions: Tom McDonald & Adam Calhoun- The Brave Five Finger Death Punch- AfterLife Kid Rock- Bad Reputation Aaron Lewis- Frayed at Both Ends Imagine Dragons- Mercury Vol. 2 Kanye West- Donda 2 Drake- Honestly, Nevermind Avril Lavigne- Luv Sux YoungBoy Never Broke Again- Colors Skillet- Dominion Minions: The Rise Of Gru Soundtrack blackbear- in loving memory Simple Plan- Harder Than It Looks Oliver Tree- Cowboy Tears Muse- Will Of The People Three Days Grace- Explosions Black Eyed Peas- Elevation
*GOOD* Also, Megan should slap Drake Will Smith-style for that weak-ass line he made about her in Circo Loco, and sue every blogger who tried to defame her character
Kinda wish it were the best hits vid for a day like today (least for those who celebrate Christmas), but in the end, it's all about the effort that goes into it. :) Which hardly ANY of these songs have!! XD Save for "Unholy," which makes me cringe with second-hand embarrassment more than outright despise it. Anyway, all solid choices! I'm hyped for all the year-end best lists to come!
My biggest issue with I Ain’t Worried is the line ‘keeping dreams alive, 1999, heroes’. I thought maybe 1999 was a reference to the the original top gun release yeah. Then I realised that was 1986. Is it a ‘hey 23 year olds, you’re heroes’ or something? Probably not. As ‘99 baby i do not feel anything about this song beyond annoyance. So what’s the reason for 1999? Then I realised I’m giving this far far more thought than any writers did and it’s filler bullsh-.
I'm sorry Mark, I just cannot see your reasoning for putting Surface Pressure as high as you did. It's always been my favorite song from Encanto besides Waiting On A Miracle and to see you rip it apart like you did kinda internally hurt a little. Hell even Sean from DAS ranked it #1 for his top 20 spring ranking. Idk, your opinion though...just hope you're OK standing on that deserted remote island of an opinion
@@jeremyusreevu237 I think there's a bigger dislike ratio with that song than there is Surface Pressure. I wouldnt call it the worst of 2020 but I still don't care for it. I'm confident enough to say at least 80% of people who hear Surface Pressure carry a positive opinion about it
@Samuel Heavener I guess, but I just personally really love Sunday Best, and was flabergasted when Mark listed it as #1, especially over garbage like I Hope and Hot Girl Bummer.
I can't do my top ten worst hits of the year until January so this is more my contenders for my worst list - Enemy - Down Under (it's a deep house remix of the Men At Work classic....it's top three bad for me) - Rich Flex (it will make the year end in Australia sadly - I'm Good (Blue) (a sample that's become overused in recent years. Also Bebe Rexha is plain annoying) - Unholy (this is just a headache inducing wall of noise) - Under the Influence (Will only be a DHM because of my rules buypt yeah this was pretty terrible - abcdefu (It's the overplay on the radio that made me sick of this song. Plus I kind of blame this song for the atrocity that's Leah Kate's "Twinkle Twinkle Little Bitch) - Romantic Homicide - Miss You (I'd say it makes the list just for plagiarism alone but when Oliver Tree is made to sound like he is sucking helium in the studio...) - Sway My Way (Why did Amy Shark and Rehab have to turn a 90s New Zealand classic like 'Sway" by Bic Runga into an absolute mess) - Doja (Central Cee is gaining traction...only a matter of time before he crosses over to the US. Shame the music blows) - I Ain't Worried (Just yeesh) Non charting worst songs - Cooped Up/Return of the Mack mash up (This didn't need to exist) - Music for a Sushi Restaurant ("Harry's House" was disappointing...I can admit it now) - Twinkle Twinkle Little Bitch (This had a whiff of record label trying to copy Gayle with Leah Kate) - True Love (grave robbery) Also screw Elon Musk!
@@gracecarpinter8623 I like Amy Shark and yeah Sway My Way is probably going to make my top ten worst of the year...the original is an under rated classic
My list (taken completely from the year end) is as follows: 10. Enemy by Imagine Dragons and JID 9. You Proof by Morgan Wallen 8. Broadway Girls by Lil Dirk ft. Morgan Wallen 7. Big Energy by Latto ft. DJ Khaled and Mariah Carey 6. She Likes It by Russell Dickerson and Jake Scott 5. AA by Walker Hayes 4. To The Moon! By JNR Choi and Sam Thompkins 3. I Ain’t Worried by OneRepublic 2. Pushin P by Gunna and Future ft. Young Thug 1. Super Gremlin by Kodak Black DMs Jimmy Cooks by Drake ft. 21 Savage In A Minute by Lil Baby Like I Love Country Music by Kane Brown Trouble With A Heartbreak by Jason Aldean Take My Name by Parmalee Unholy by Sam Smith and Kim Petras (simply for the fact that I hate Kim Petras and we deserve better trans representation on the charts, I don’t actually hate the song that much)
In defense of Unholy, Dr. Luke is not a writer on this song specifically Also, when “Unholy” went to #1? I was very happy, not excited, happy. In a time where in the US specifically where gay and trans rights are threatened specifically, having a song that went to #1 that featured a non-binary and a trans artist as the main billed artists was unheard of and impeccable. I’m a lot more forgiving on Kim Petras (and I know this makes me completely biased and I will acknowledge it as such) because, I’m not gonna lie, I turn her music on to turn my brain off. I don’t go to Kim for some large artistic statement, sometimes I just want a stupid pop song. I just fucking wish she didn’t work with Dr. Rapist Lucas. Can we please excise him from the music industry along with Chris Brown and 6ix9ine? I don’t want to have to think about the morality of my music.
I've got to say, it's rare that I agree this much with one of these lists lol ... I disagree on a few songs here. I find "Unholy" and "AA" to be fun songs that I like, and I also like "Enemy", but aside from that, there's a lot of songs here that I really don't like.
My own opinions of LGBT issues aside, I find it very unhelpful to the wider discussion that the two big LGBT songs this year that I heard (Unholy and Boyfriend) directly play into the idea that LGBT people are creeps and are out destroy families. Boyfriend has that "I'm gonna steal this girl from her boyfriend" thing going on, and Unholy very nearly celebrates that this guy is cheating on his wife. How is this "progress"??
Movies My Own Town's Theater's Social Media Went Out of Their Ways to Call Good: -Ford v Ferrari -I Still Believe (This one is interesting because unlike the other ones, they didn't confirm it in a post about what movies they're showing over the weekend. But instead confirmed in a reply to a comment on one of those posts. Speaking of which, I want to point out that this is the one January-March 2020 that they showed during summer 2020.) -Tenet -Let Him Go -The Croods: A New Age -News of the World -Nobody -Dear Evan Hansen -Top Gun: Maverick (Several times actually. They've actually been making posts like this since the beginning because they managed to be part of the world's first screening of this movie at Cinema Con. Man, I remember when I first saw that most, and I thought it was just excitement from seeing a movie early, and it wasn't going to be reflective of most people's opinions on it. And then it got the same Letterboxd average score as Jurassic Park and The Incredibles.) -Minions: The Rise of Gru (This one is debatable since they didn't 100% confirm whether or not they thought the movie was good. Technically, some of the others weren't 100% confirmed either, but they had statements that said they thought they were good without actually saying if they're good like "I saw it myself, and I can safely say I'll be watching it again." But this one's went "I actually managed to this this at an early screening with one of my sons, and trust me, you would love it. It's hard not to love those cute little buggers." I don't know if this means it should count, but I'm gonna put it on the list anyways because it would make for a funny addition.) -DC League of Super-Pets -Lyle, Lyle Crocodile -Tickets to Paradise (Another one that they confirmed in a reply to a comment.) -Violent Night -Avatar: The Way of Water (Fun Fact: The person who's running my town's theater is the first person I known who likes Avatar apparently.) -This wasn't on their social media, but when I went to see Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the person at the counter went "Are you seeing Shang-Chi? It's so good. I'm not into Marvel. And I loved it." And this is not counting ones that had posts they made statements like "Check out these amazing movies" and "Come to our theater and check out this great new movie" and nothing more because they're running a business, they're gonna try to convince you to watch them, they're not gonna diss on their movies. I also want to give a special mention to Easter Sunday. When they were about to show it, they made a post like "I got to see a sneak peek of this at Cinema Con, and I can't wait to see the whole thing. I was in tears laughing at it." But they didn't make a follow-up post about what they thought of the whole thing. This explains why they showed that movie instead of Bullet Train.
As Todd said, this might be the worst year for sampling in pop music.
He said it was worse than P. Diddy in the 90s. At least Bad Boy did better producing it with drums and keyboards looped in.
Considering as he reviewed Your Woman this year, a song that weaves sampling very well, it really emphasizes how bad 2022's was.
At least we had Betty (Get Money)
@@jeremyusreevu237 I personally wouldn't call it good, only relatively alright.
I enjoyed watching both Todd In The Shadows and ADoseOfBuckley's video of Worst songs of 2022
You can tell Jessica Darrow has a unique voice and talent, but they gave her the worst range to sing in
I think there's obvious strain from her singing in a forced character voice instead of her natural voice.
I feel like like this shouldn't qualify, but what else did we really have this year?
I think its hilarious how many Riverdale mentions were in this video. Just the thought of him sitting there with how analytical his mind is watching Riverdale is just too funny to me. Because I'm afraid the latest season is probably beyond his comprehension.
They went from a symblance of reality to Twilight and as a fan of Archie Comics, that statement was hard to do.
Wow it's incredible how someone like Morgan Wallen got three spots on this list! Similar to Drake in 2018.

I feel like Mark dislikes #5 for the crypto connection than about the song itself
@@felixcroc yeah same, fuck crypto but the song is honestly pretty solid imo

@@jeremyusreevu237 the hook is grating
As someone who was a fan of imagine Dragons in their teens (I own both Night Visions and Smoke&Mirrors) the way they fell from doing decent pop/alt rock to... whatever they're doing now hurts my soul.
Enemy, the radio version is just...not good. Not enough energy, the rap there feels tacked on. I liked the version used as the intro to Arcane: faster, with more punch and energy which match the song much more in my opinion
"...a cartoon theme song for the TV show based on League of Legends."
Some-one barely knows what Arcane is. I also do, and I dig it. Crappy theme nonwitstanding.
JID makes amazing music you shouldn’t write him off bcs Imagine Dragons doesn’t care about their features
@@CwMGameplays i'm a longtime fan of Mark so I always look forward to his personal best of the year (outside of the hits) ☺️☺️

Hey, Imagine Dragons, have you considered people want to be your enemies because your songs sound the same, and they all suck?
OMG Yes Mark!! Definitely one of the best Christmas presents I could have asked for🥳
The number two spot was probably the biggest HOLY SHIT moment I've ever seen out of all your worst lists.
Agreed. I did not expect that song to be anywhere near a worst list AT ALL, let alone at #2!
Only possibly rivaled by Middle Child making both his Worst of 2019 *and* Worst of the 2010s.
It should’ve been New World Order by Tom McDonald
Literally caught me off guard
Me too! I don't even remember this song! Never heard it on radio, streaming, TikTok, or anywhere.
I lost track of billboard breakdown years ago and gave up but this makes me want to get back on the train in 2023.
Did anyone else see that Cold Heart was the number one song in Canada this year?
Damn, I agreed with this list entirely until surface pressure...
Part of me respects and understands why he chose that as his #2, but most of me disagrees and find the song to be at least decent.

Good job Mark. Always an honor to get to interview you at this time of the year. #2 I do agree with that it got grating after a while
Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone! Getting this godforsaken year out of the way
I respect your opinion on number 2, but there are a few points there I am just not sure are true. The main one being about radio getting behind Surface Pressure, when it was not a radio song at all. At best, it had very little radio play if any. We Don’t Talk About Bruno is the one that got a minor radio run
Also, I would say Encanto songs definitely had a lot more people than children listening to them on their own accord than you might think
Honestly the second part especially bothered me a lot and it has so many issues.
Merry Christmas everyone and I wish you all a happy new year :)
Great list! I always appreciate how insightful your commentary is
Merry Christmas and Happy Hoildays To All

This guy has the nerve to say he is the Next Tupac, Get the f*** outta here Juicy, you were great on Empire, your song numbers were my favorites and to see you in selfish way destroy it and come out with this. No. 2022 is the last time as a socitey we care about Juicy and we forget him in 2023, and with that "Thank You, God" by Jussie Smolett is my #1 Worst song of 2022.)

10:40 that line is GOLDEN! 😆
Ur dad died
Nobody:
The One: "That's so racist" (after someone here says 'Super Gremlin' is the worst hit song of the year).
Also The One: Uses the N-word slur in literally every Billboard Breakdown video! 🤦
And he also uses the F-slur as well as death threats. This guy can genuinely go screw off
@@TheBlackPanther05 I guess we could say he's the 'Broadway Girls' of this community. 🤭
What a clown hypocrite, still a miracle that account isn't ban yet
@@tda3rdy541 It'll be a miracle to us all when that account is banned! 😩
@@piran1807 Except Broadway Girls is actually good.
The thumbnail looks great, Merry Christmas Mark 😊
Great list! Keep up the good work!
Thumbnail is dope!!!
Aight yall, here's my list
Top Ten Worst Hit Songs of 2022 (IMO)
1. Wasted On You: Morgan Wallen
2. Broadway Girls: Lil Durk ft. Morgan Wallen
3. Enemy: Imagine Dragons and J.I.D.
4. Unholy: Sam Smith ft. Kim Petras
5. You Proof: Morgan Wallen (Seriously, Morgan Wallen can go screw himself)
6. She Likes It: Russell Dickerson and Jake Scott
7. Super Gremlin: Kodak Black
8. Boyfriend: Dove Cameron (Talk about wasted potential)
9. I Like You (A Happier Song): Post Malone ft. Doja Cat
10. Take My Name: Parmalee
Dishonorable Mentions:
Fingers Crossed: Lauren Spencer Smith
Pushin P: Gunna ft. Future and Young Thug
AA: Walker Hayes
One Right Now: Post Malone ft. The Weeknd
ABCDEFU: Gayle
Big Energy: Latto
Cold Heart (PNAU Remix): Elton John and Dua Lipa
Trouble With A Heartbreak: Jason Aldean
I've actually softened on "Boyfriend" for a little while not because of the lyrics and the whispy vocals adjacent to Billie Eilish but the production arrangement sounds interesting and it does have bombast. Some people have compared this song to "Treat You Better" but I don't agree with them. Aside from that good list!
Merry Christmas to you Mark and to everyone here! Hope y’all enjoy the holidays with friends and loved ones as well as a happy 2023! 😁
Merry Christmas to your father Aquila I’m sure he’s having fun down there with Takeoff and Queen Elizabeth right now
Airplay is absolutely ruining the Hot 100.
With all that being said, here is my list:
#1: You Proof - Morgan Wallen
#2: One Right Now - Post Malone ft. The Weeknd
#3: Pushin P - Gunna & Future ft. Young Thug
#4: abcdefu - GAYLE
#5: She Likes It - Russell Dickerson ft. Jake Scott
#6: I Love You So - The Walters
#7: I'm Good (Blue) - David Guetta & Bebe Rexha
#8: Trouble With A Heartbreak - Jason Aldean
#9: Take My Name - Parmalee
#10: Big Energy - Latto
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dishonorable Mentions:
Unstoppable - Sia
Boyfriend - Dove Cameron
Cold Heart (PNAU Remix) - Elton John & Dua Lipa
Do It To It - Acraze ft. Cherish
I Ain't Worried - OneRepublic
AA - Walker Hayes
I Like You (A Happier Song) - Post Malone ft. Doja Cat
Unholy - Sam Smith & Kim Petras
Broadway Girls - Lil Durk ft. Morgan Wallen
Infinity - Jaymes Young
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who hates "Do It To It", "Infinity" and "I Love You So".
(Somewhat Spoilers)
Seeing Mark praise Danger Zone as the classic it is truly captures my feelings to the original soundtrack compared to the new one!
I agree with this whole list other than Unholy, which have somehow come to love even though I cringe at the lyrics in Kim's verse. Personally, I don't mind her voice in the song and feel like she is a fitting addition, the writers just needed to step it up like a whole staircase with the lyrics.
I Ain't Worried and To The Moon are good though.
My Worst Hit Songs list consists of:
10. Boyfriend by Dove Cameron
9. To the Moon! by JNR CHOI & Sam Tompkins
8. She likes it by Russell Dickerson ft. Jake Scott
7. First Class by Jack Harlow
6. Pushin P by Gunna, Future & Young Thug
5. Surface Pressure by Jessica Darrow
4. Fingers crossed by Lauren Spencer Smith
3. Unholy by Sam Smith ft. Kim Petras
2. Break my Soul by Beyoncé
1. Bam Bam by Camila Cabello ft. Ed Sheeran
It's been fun watching you for another year! Keep up the good work
Honestly disappointed by how weak this year's list is. Like we're seriously counting Disney songs now? Seriously?
Predictions based on the thumbnail:
- Jimmy Cooks will likely be on the Dishonourable Mentions, if not higher.
Other predictions:
- Super Gremlin is in the top 5
- Big Energy is on the Worst List
- Bam Bam, despite getting Honourable Mention, will likely be on the DMs
- Either She Likes It by Russell Dickerson or Take My Name by Parmalee is on the Worst List, the other is in the DMs
- Despues de la Playa is on the DMs (It was Mark's least favorite song on Un Verano Sin Ti, it got a Dishonourable Mention on Billboard BREAKDOWN)
- AA is on the Worst List
- pushin p is at least on the Worst List
- Cold Heart (PNAU Remix) is on the DMs
- I Ain't Worried is on the Worst List
- Enemy is on the Worst List
My predictions for what is on the Worst List and the DMs (The DMs usually have seven songs):
Dishonourable Mentions:
- Bam Bam by Camila Cabello feat. Ed Sheeran
- Despues de la Playa by Bad Bunny
- Broadway Girls by Lil Durk feat. Morgan Wallen
- Wasted On You by Morgan Wallen
- She Likes It by Russell Dickerson feat. Jake Scott
- Jimmy Cooks by Drake feat. 21 Savage
- Cold Heart (PNAU Remix) by Elton John and Dua Lipa
The Worst List:
10. I Ain't Worried by OneRepublic
9. Enemy by Imagine Dragons feat. JID
8. Take My Name by Parmalee
7. I Like You (A Happier Song) by Post Malone feat. Doja Cat
6. Unholy by Sam Smith feat. Kim Petras
5. Pushin P by Gunna and Future feat. Young Thug
4. Big Energy by Latto
3. AA by Walker Hayes
2. You Proof by Morgan Wallen
1. Super Gremlin by Kodak Black
Aftermath: The only predictions I got right were She Likes It, Jimmy Cooks and Unholy.
I also think Enemy and Big Energy might switch positions on this list
yk it was a bad year when abcdefu has a good chance of not even being mentioned

Yeah, I was NOT expecting that #2 pick AT ALL
@@TheBlackPanther05 Much like with Hey Look Ma I Made It in 2019, which he didn't slam too hard when it debuted, then come December, boom, it's his most hated hit song of that year. Caught me off-guard here too
First Class was worse than any of the songs he had on this list
While I was expecting all the other songs to appear on this list at some capacity, surface pressure being on the list was a complete surprise. It will probably go on as one of the hottest takes he’s ever made.
One of the best Christmas presents we can ask for is a worst list from Spectrum Pulse! Also, thumbnail looks dope as heck, bro!

Wow I’ve never disagreed more with this year list lol. I thought #2 and #3 were pretty decent to good. Especially didn’t expect them to land this high, especially the former. I also don’t mind I Ain’t Worried that bad. I think some of the dishonorable mentions were far worse tbh
I feel like both Unstoppable and Truth About You would've been really high on this list had they been big enough to make it.

@@yngmusic Yeah, I've grown to tolerate the song. I'm not big on Dove Cameron's whispy vocals but at the same time I can understand the appeal.
funny how #9 and #10 are by artists everyone likes yet when they collab it sound like trash

I had basically the opposite reaction to Morgan wallens singles this year, I like Broadway girls quite a bit, while I would have had you proof and don't think Jesus much higher on my worst of.
Glad I'm not the only person who likes Broadway Girls. It just works for me.
I can honestly see this song kind of working in this light as a kind of unflattering character portrait. Still not on board but I at least get where you're coming from and respect the interpretation, in part because I typically like songs like that.
Thoughts on your list. Just my opinion btw

2. Haven't heard it.
3. Agreed. Also, shoutout for you using the pun Riverdalecore to describe this song and agree that this song was cashing on Olivia Rodrigo. Plus, spot on that teenage angst in music can be done well. You just need to have good execution. Bland Pop at its finest
4. Haven't heard it
5. Haven't heard it
6. Haven't heard it
7. Haven't heard it
10. Haven't heard it. Chris Brown should be added with Morgan Wallen when you mentioned consuming the art after controversial behaviour and the artist never going away because of that
9. Haven't heard it. Leave him back in 2017 where he belongs
8. Haven't heard it. Aside from that song, both artists were associated to obtain money from RICO
7. I don't think this song was bad as it was used in Top Gun: Maverick which was my 2'nd favourite movie of this year but can understand the flaws about being 5 years late to the party when you mentioned Portugal the Man's Feel It Still (Still a good song imo)
6. Agreed. This song also had potential to bring Hyperpop to the mainstream but instead wasted it and is a diet version of what SOPHIE (R.I.P to her) and 100 gecs did
5. Haven't heard it
4. It's fine but wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it.
3. Same thing with No 4
2. Surprisingly I actually like this song. I even thought Encanto was a really good movie, but I respect your opinion on it
And then next year they nominated Joji for that same category. Holy shit did they discover better music.

I’ll post the best list on Mark’s best list video when it’s released.
Also, Surface Pressure and I Ain’t Worried are 4/5 imo
L. Betty Get Money is amazing. L
Finally someone didn't like I'm good it's just I'm blue but made it worse
Disagree with Get Into It (Yuh), Betty (Get Money), and Left and Right, but other than that, solid list!
Regarding unholy. Getting Hozier on some kind of song with Sam Smith would be a dream come too. Have them sing to eachother. It would glorious. And yeah Kin Petras does not suit the song and feels like how Cardi B was in that Maroon 5 song
If you told me Unholy was originally a Hozier song and I didn't know any better I'd believe you.
Highlight of the video is the very valid critique of Encanto
Now for the big one!
I don't agree with Surface Pressure, and I'm disappointed by Mark's dislike of LMM, but still, it's always worth hearing your opinions.
I don’t think musical songs count. And who the fuck dislikes Lin!?
"And if you listen closely in the distance, you hear a whole swath of Tumblr just swoon."
Goddammit, Mark, don't call me out like this!
Merry Christmas, Mark! #2 totally caught me off guard. 😅🎄👋
LOL The #2 literally made my jaw drop to the floor!

Yeah.... a really bad year this time around, I definitely do have some hot takes on some songs though, but I stand by each one of them personally. I do agree that it was actually kinda difficult to choose some of these songs because a lot of them are mainly middle of the road.
I still have not made my top 10 worst hits of 2022 but I’ll give y’all my top spot.
1. Kodak Black-Super Gremlin
Truly a miserable and annoying song from one of the worst artists to ever gain success. The song is so bad and even the catchiness is filled with bad lyrics and even worse delivery. Don’t get why people give this one a pass, it’s abysmal.
Super Gremlin is a masterpiece compared to Walk.
That’s so racist
It’s not and deal with it.
@@Jollyjose251 Bruh. The dude has one of the worst voices in hip hop. He sounds like he eats cigarettes.
@@AquilaSky21 Your dad must be proud of you OH WAIT 😆
abcdefu is so bad and I was a little surprised it wasn’t here.
Agreed. It should have been on the list instead of Surface Pressure in my opinion
I've had it explained at least twice this year and watched the Rap Critic review on it and I still don't know what a pushin p or a pesbean is.
shoutout the PGBTQ+ community
Yeah, this year blew for popular music. The good stuff flopped/underperformed, and the bad stuff stayed around for way too long. I actually liked some of the songs on this list [Big Energy, Unholy, I Like You] but a lot of this stuff, the country and rap ones especially, should have never touched the charts or been made at all.
"Good stuff flopped/underperformed" See: Sacrifice and Out of Time. I remember hearing the former in the opening days of the year thinking it was destined to blow up. Sadly, people believed that The Weeknd had been too overexposed at the time.
Would you agree that this was at least better than 2005 or 2006 which in my opinion are among the worst years of all time for pop music?
@@samfeldstein4498 no; i like plenty of songs from that year
I'm both excited and nervous.
I’m both “take” and “off”
@@Jollyjose251 I'm both "shut" and "up"
Because i Know Mark doesn't do this type of list
Here is My Top 10 Worst album Of 2022 list:
10. Chris Brown- Breezy (1 hour and 20 Minutes of new Chris Brown Material, Who the f*** wants to listen to that?)
9. 3 Ivan Knight and his imaginary friends and Lil Squeaky created Covered In Blood that was full on Synthpop, their is no unique stand outs on Vol 4, Nothing and again, lack of Big Baller B is very noticable, serously Flex Entertainment crew, do better next year, please)
8. Hollywood Undead- Hotel Kalifornia (Really, this band still exist in 2022? Yeah and they release an album this year and yeah this still is as inmature and haven't grown up, really who still listens to Hollywood Undead? Because in my opinion it's about to expand your taste in music.)
7. Nav- Demons Protected By Angels (i use to call NAV a human vocaloid, but in all honesty Hatsune Miku has more personality than NAV, who still likes this guy)
6. DJ Khaled- GOD DID!!!! (GOD DID, GOD DID, GOD DID, GOD DID, SHUT THE F*** UP, Good lord this is thw most annoying catchphase by "The Qunicy Jones Of Hip Hop", who once again releases an album with frankenstein monster collabs that do not make sense, cringly lyrics "My Sneezes like Yeezus" really Em, were going down to revival era verses and or course Staying alive with Drake, Barry Gibb your always free to sue this guy at anytime.)
5. Drake & 21 Savage- Her Loss (Of course making a boring house album wasn't enough of new Drake Material we needed, we get this album where we get the same boring formula from Drake but even worse, especally Circo Loco which going for Tean Tory Lanze, Drake, Really, No)
4. Walker Hayes- Country Stuff: The Album (I don't know what was worse, having to suffer and watching episodes of High Guardian Spice or listening and suffering though the songs made by the "High Guardian Spice of Country Music" Walker Hayes. This album is all i don't like of Mainstream Country Pop all combined into 1 album, the title track is still the worst song by Walker Hayes, U Girl is so stupid, AA is embarrasing, and what do i need to add about Fancy Like, like Come on, this is the worst country album of the year.)
3. Kodak Black- Back For Everything (We are trying so hard to get rid of Vic Migongna, However that same energy isn't being applied to Kodak Black, I don't like his music at all and i hope qe don't have to deal with him next year but i doubt it.)
2. Machine Gun Kelly- Mainstream Sellout (I CALLED IT, I was open last year about Tickets to my downfall, now MGK has gotten even worse and i happy people are agreeing with me, MGK is the "High Guardian Spice of Pop Punk", MGK is poser to Pop Punk, Their was nothing redeeming about this album at all.)
Dishonorable Mentions:
Tom McDonald & Adam Calhoun- The Brave
Five Finger Death Punch- AfterLife
Kid Rock- Bad Reputation
Aaron Lewis- Frayed at Both Ends
Imagine Dragons- Mercury Vol. 2
Kanye West- Donda 2
Drake- Honestly, Nevermind
Avril Lavigne- Luv Sux

Skillet- Dominion
Minions: The Rise Of Gru Soundtrack
blackbear- in loving memory
Simple Plan- Harder Than It Looks
Oliver Tree- Cowboy Tears
Muse- Will Of The People
Three Days Grace- Explosions
Black Eyed Peas- Elevation
so did yall hear about tory lanez being found guilty?
*GOOD*
Also, Megan should slap Drake Will Smith-style for that weak-ass line he made about her in Circo Loco, and sue every blogger who tried to defame her character
Great news
Ce-la-brate good times come on! Doo doo doo doo Woo-Hoooooo! HOO! 🥳🥳🥳
some of the best news I've gotten all year. That's what happens when you try to fuck with Megan😎
@Jack Donahue ToRy LaNeZ DiD NoThInG wRoNg 🤓🤓🤓
Kinda wish it were the best hits vid for a day like today (least for those who celebrate Christmas), but in the end, it's all about the effort that goes into it. :) Which hardly ANY of these songs have!! XD Save for "Unholy," which makes me cringe with second-hand embarrassment more than outright despise it.
Anyway, all solid choices! I'm hyped for all the year-end best lists to come!
I think Whalen sounds like he's trting to do a Brian Johnson impression on Broadway Girls and it's nails on a chalk board Holy fuck
Never even heard of fingers crossed lol why is Morgan wallen not “canceled” still when Paula dean is?
I'm sorry Mark, I just cannot see your reasoning for putting Surface Pressure as high as you did. It's always been my favorite song from Encanto besides Waiting On A Miracle and to see you rip it apart like you did kinda internally hurt a little. Hell even Sean from DAS ranked it #1 for his top 20 spring ranking. Idk, your opinion though...just hope you're OK standing on that deserted remote island of an opinion
I pretty much felt the same when he listed Sunday Best as the worst song of 2020.
I can't do my top ten worst hits of the year until January so this is more my contenders for my worst list
- Enemy
- Down Under (it's a deep house remix of the Men At Work classic....it's top three bad for me)
- Rich Flex (it will make the year end in Australia sadly
- I'm Good (Blue) (a sample that's become overused in recent years. Also Bebe Rexha is plain annoying)
- Unholy (this is just a headache inducing wall of noise)
- Under the Influence (Will only be a DHM because of my rules buypt yeah this was pretty terrible
- abcdefu (It's the overplay on the radio that made me sick of this song. Plus I kind of blame this song for the atrocity that's Leah Kate's "Twinkle Twinkle Little Bitch)
- Romantic Homicide
- Miss You (I'd say it makes the list just for plagiarism alone but when Oliver Tree is made to sound like he is sucking helium in the studio...)
- Sway My Way (Why did Amy Shark and Rehab have to turn a 90s New Zealand classic like 'Sway" by Bic Runga into an absolute mess)
- Doja (Central Cee is gaining traction...only a matter of time before he crosses over to the US. Shame the music blows)
- I Ain't Worried (Just yeesh)
Non charting worst songs
- Cooped Up/Return of the Mack mash up (This didn't need to exist)
- Music for a Sushi Restaurant ("Harry's House" was disappointing...I can admit it now)
- Twinkle Twinkle Little Bitch (This had a whiff of record label trying to copy Gayle with Leah Kate)
- True Love (grave robbery)
Also screw Elon Musk!
This is the first time I've heard of this remake of Sway, and... what kind of white Australian nonsense is this? Yeesh.
@@gracecarpinter8623 I like Amy Shark and yeah Sway My Way is probably going to make my top ten worst of the year...the original is an under rated classic
I’m honestly surprised not to see One Right Now on the list
I thought it'd be there for sure. Given how he tore the song apart in November 2021, I was surprised to not even see it as a dishonorable mention.
Great list even if i love Surface Pressure!
to the moon garbo and no ever mentions it for some reason it was actually so validating to see it here😭
My list (taken completely from the year end) is as follows:
10. Enemy by Imagine Dragons and JID
9. You Proof by Morgan Wallen
8. Broadway Girls by Lil Dirk ft. Morgan Wallen
7. Big Energy by Latto ft. DJ Khaled and Mariah Carey
6. She Likes It by Russell Dickerson and Jake Scott
5. AA by Walker Hayes
4. To The Moon! By JNR Choi and Sam Thompkins
3. I Ain’t Worried by OneRepublic
2. Pushin P by Gunna and Future ft. Young Thug
1. Super Gremlin by Kodak Black
DMs
Jimmy Cooks by Drake ft. 21 Savage
In A Minute by Lil Baby
Like I Love Country Music by Kane Brown
Trouble With A Heartbreak by Jason Aldean
Take My Name by Parmalee
Unholy by Sam Smith and Kim Petras (simply for the fact that I hate Kim Petras and we deserve better trans representation on the charts, I don’t actually hate the song that much)
In defense of Unholy, Dr. Luke is not a writer on this song specifically
Also, when “Unholy” went to #1?
Movies My Own Town's Theater's Social Media Went Out of Their Ways to Call Good:
-Ford v Ferrari
-I Still Believe (This one is interesting because unlike the other ones, they didn't confirm it in a post about what movies they're showing over the weekend. But instead confirmed in a reply to a comment on one of those posts. Speaking of which, I want to point out that this is the one January-March 2020 that they showed during summer 2020.)
-Tenet
-Let Him Go
-The Croods: A New Age
-News of the World
-Nobody
-Dear Evan Hansen
-Top Gun: Maverick (Several times actually. They've actually been making posts like this since the beginning because they managed to be part of the world's first screening of this movie at Cinema Con. Man, I remember when I first saw that most, and I thought it was just excitement from seeing a movie early, and it wasn't going to be reflective of most people's opinions on it. And then it got the same Letterboxd average score as Jurassic Park and The Incredibles.)
-Minions: The Rise of Gru (This one is debatable since they didn't 100% confirm whether or not they thought the movie was good. It's hard not to love those cute little buggers." I don't know if this means it should count, but I'm gonna put it on the list anyways because it would make for a funny addition.)
-DC League of Super-Pets
-Lyle, Lyle Crocodile
-Tickets to Paradise (Another one that they confirmed in a reply to a comment.)
-Violent Night
-Avatar: The Way of Water (Fun Fact: The person who's running my town's theater is the first person I known who likes Avatar apparently.)
-This wasn't on their social media, but when I went to see Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the person at the counter went "Are you seeing Shang-Chi? It's so good. I'm not into Marvel. And I loved it."
And this is not counting ones that had posts they made statements like "Check out these amazing movies" and "Come to our theater and check out this great new movie" and nothing more because they're running a business, they're gonna try to convince you to watch them, they're not gonna diss on their movies.
