Old Las Vegas 1969. Filmed with an 8mm camera. Interesting to see who was appearing at the hotels and also Fremont Street before the roof went on. See my 1970 video at • Old Las Vegas 1970
LOVE THE VIDEO ! Those really were the good ol days ! Thx to whoever posted this. I remember my family walking up and down Fremont street with all our out of town company they loved it and so did we....what a great time to live in Vegas...♡
Hi eric Timber, I'm an Elvis fan too. I believe August of 69 was the first month he started to perform in Vegas aside from his previous show at The Frontier years earlier. Great you got to see him in his prime. If you watch Spa Guy on youtube he has a great 6 part show of him going into the showroom of the Westgate Hotel and down through the corridors and basement where Elvis used to hang out. A lot of it is still the same! Very interesting videos by the Spa Guy. I know $15 a ticket seems cheap by today's standards, but back then it was a lot of money. I'm just curious what was the minimum wage in 69? I'm assuming at the end of a workday that's probably just about what a minimum wage employee made. About $15 or so?
They closed the Greyhound Bus station at the Plaza. A damn shame too, because you could get off right there at Fremont St near all the hookers. Damn it what is this world coming to?
Oh, man thank you for the gorgeous upload, I thought Elvis @ the International marquee, or Tom Jones @ the Flamingo were going to pop out anytime, guess they were not in town at the time.
Nearly all of this is gone, damned shame. Side note, A few years later I was in Downtown Vegas and watched them shoot the stunt where the Red Ford Mustang came out of the alley on 2 wheels. I had to be inside the casino as everything was closed off, but my Dad knew a pit boss. Ah, Vegas, now it is just a toilet.
Roy; This must be from the 1st half of '69 or you would have undoubtedly gotten the International Hotel in the vid. It 's gtand opening was July-August !
Sorry Vincent but Circus Circus opened 18th October 1968. I still have my flight details from 1969 and a "compliments of Circus Circus" ticket. You can Google it just to confirm.
@@roysellen8942 Hi Roy, thanks for the reply. Sure, I’m a graphic designer and music producer self releasing a track and I’d love to edit this footage to it (I really do love the footage for the colours, typography and aesthetic of a by-gone Las Vegas you’ve captured). Here are some other videos I've made with pre-existing footage - ua-cam.com/play/PL4PH0U46vtSUllTaCNIuoPgmXvEzJau0o.html Let me know your thoughts, thanks
That Stardust sign is such a masterpiece.
To watch these videos about Vegas really makes you cry because that's the way it used to be compared to today
Some of the best footage of that era I've seen.
Thanks James!

eric Timber lucky man to see Elvis.
wow did you take any Super 8
Wow, $15.00 couldn’t scratch a resort fee these days…
Wow! The Greyhound Bus station used to be next to the Stardust instead of Downtown at the Plaza.

In that time looked like magical wonderland during the night.
Great video! Thanks for posting. Groovy background music. Lol

Great stuff !!
This is when the MOB ran Los Vegas. My uncles and their friends say it was definitely better back in those days.

Very good ole days.
This is in 1970 not 1969.You can see the spotlights swinging around the newly opened Circus Circus, which opened in 1970.

Love this footage! Would it be possible to use for a video I'm creating?
Hi Kit, Thanks for the comment. Can you give me some details about your video please?

@@kitjgg Hi Kit, No I don't I'm afraid. I cut out all the visible splices, darkened the picture slightly and the result is what I kept.
Love it because a lot of us don't get to see that dorn it was better when the mob ran the casinos.
WOW, Las Vegas back when a weekend cost less than a hotel room now? 🤔
The Mob, still runs the casinos!
