As a board operator for 17 months 1985-1987, I got a little chill every time I pushed the button that fired that traffic sounder. Those top-of-the-hour rejoins after the network news were the best part of my hour.
The KNX 1070 traffic sounder makes me think of riding in my mom's Isuzu Tropper back when I was 8 years old.

When I was a kid my parents would get up at 5:00 am to get ready for work. They always played KFWB News 98. Sometimes I would wake up in my bed and listen to them moving about. The KFWB jingle is so entwined with the memory of them getting their morning coffee, talking about their day ahead before driving away in separate cars. When I grew up I kept the tradition of KFWB on my clock radio alarm to wake up to for college classes and later work. But eventually after decades the network changed to talkradio and moved to TV news to get ready for work with. Thanks for this clip. It flooded me with fond memories of parents that since gone but never forgotten. 😚👪 and a station that said "Give us 22 minutes we'll give you the world."
Darien Chase me too. my grandpa loved this station . when I was a baby. here i am 39 now and it's feel with his memories. I wanna take over for him catching all the great news on this station if it still exists. forever in my Hart this station
it reminds me of the Northridge Quake because we had KNX 1070 on the day it happened.
When I was a kid, I was always listening to KIISFM, but anytime we got stuck in an LA traffic jam, my dad always switched over to KNX 1070. At the time, I was irritated that I had to listen to KNX, but now that I'm 30 and living in Viña Del Mar, Chile I occasionally stream KNX....and I haven't listened to KIISFM in close to 15 years. I miss my dad. :'(
Same here, only it was my Grandpa who we lived with in Mission Hills. I knew the KFWB and KNX jingles by heart! I now get the alerts from the KNX Radio.com profile all the way up in Yakima WA. At 39 now miss my Grandpa, but this helps ;)

I remember my mom listening to KFWB news 98 in the car and my dad listening to KNX 1070 in the car when I was a kid during those years.

Man did Ronald Reagan's deregulation of the media absolutely RUIN radio and television.
Jesus, I *hate* what deregulation/consolidation has done to this country vis a vis our radio, television and newspapers.
KFWB's Jane Bauer would move on to Detroit and spend many years doing afternoon drive on all-news WWJ.
The one thing with K-EARTH that was missing was: From the entertainment capital of the world. I wish they would bring that opening back.

@@glennso47 When you're talking entertainment, where did it come from? Hollywood, even though they don't say that. No politics involved. I don't live in the Los Angeles area anymore, but I still listen to K-EARTH, and will listen to them, till they are no more.
I really miss the old jingles of the radio ! The new modern boring things they make just does not cut it. Don’t fix things when they are not broken !

Good morning everyone from Portugal. Maybe someone can help me. In the 90's there was a radio program (morning) that was coordinated by a young man who also had a television program (without much success). The radio show was ratings leader in LA, maybe Eddie something... Anyone remember?
I remember listening to all these stations, but KNX and KFWB were mainstays each morning on the way to school. I liked listening to the oldies stations just because I was s weird kid who liked them. 😄 Good times ... growing up in L.A in the 90s.

I miss the KXEZ jingles...haven't heard them since summer 1996...I was 18. Any more EZ 1003 jingles? I want to hear them.
I wish iHeart Radio would acquire KFWB and bring back the old time news jingle as well as the all news format.
I miss that news capsule of 22 minutes with world, local, sports and weather. I miss CNN'S Headline News.

I wouldn’t say IHeart, they doing LA radio wrong. I’d say entercomm, or townsquare, cox, Mt. Wilson FM/cumulus, Bonville, Zimmer. Anybody but IHeart.
Boston's all-news radio station WBZ-AM is owned by iHeartRadio.
Great but it doesn't have the brass fanfare for news at the top of the hour for KNX
