- Hey everybody, I'm back! For those who may not know, Tuesday is my birthday. So, to celebrate, I'm posting a few jingle packages that I first heard as a kid. If you grew up in Los Angeles, perhaps you'll remember these too. WARNING! I own no rights to any of these recordings, and if I get a notice that this video was blocked due to copyright, I'll delete right away. I got this jingle demo from SoundCloud. The user goes by RadioJinglesOnline, but his real name is Ben Atkins, from London UK. I was surprised to find that he uploaded this package a few weeks back, so I knew I had to download a copy via an online converter. This package is a demo sung for Los Angeles news station KNX 1070 AM. The company who did it, is Axcess Broadcasting. Funny the things you find out years after these jingles faded into oblivion... I also converted this audio track to video, and added black color background. I'm only saying this because, as some of you know, I can't see, and I'm not always able to rely on assistance to add visuals. Anyway, here 'tis, the KNX jingle package sung by Axcess Broadcasting!
Always loved KNX jingle package.
Driving alone many many times in-between Los Angeles and Phoenix, I would listen to KNX on the AM radio. I was listening through static at two in the morning, in the middle of the desert. And this brings back great memories especially number 10. This was my friend and gave me company. I could always tell I was getting closer to Los Angeles as the signal would become clearer. It was my distance gauge.
I remember hearing these jingles in the early '80s at 8:00 followed by the CBS radio mystery theater.
This brings back so many memories. I can here the talent at KNX teasing the days news about the OJ Simpson trial over the beginning of cut 10…12 was the lead in after top of the hour news.
Yes exactly, and that's why I put this up here....I originally uploaded it in March, and by now it's got about 300 views....Took me years to track these down but I finally did! I found 'em on SoundCloud and they were uploaded by a jingle collector in London UK named Ben Atkins. If you search for his profile on SoundCloud, he's under RadioJinglesOnline. Or better yet, go to his website, radiojinglesonline.com.
As a kid growing up in Southern California 1:57 & 3:16, were the jingles that stood out to me as a kid when listening to KNX in the car with my parents especially with traffic and weather on the 5s.
Absolutely. I remember that theme at 1:57 growing up in the 90s and around 2000/2001. Same with 3:16. That was like the night time theme.
The KNX sounder package sounded better than WCBS and it lasted longer. That alone says a lot. I think there's an aircheck from KNX in 1987 using this package.
3:14 All you need to know, KNX 1070 news radio.
Good afternoon on this (day, month) I'm (name) KNX 1070, these are the places where there's news...
All coming up, along with sports 🏈🏀⚾
Thanks for bringing this back!!!
You're definitely welcome.... Honestly, I never thought I'd see the day when I'd find these classic jingles floating around the web, but I did, just a few weeks ago by way of the SoundCloud website. As I'm sure you do, I especially remember the cuts heard at the 1:56 and 3:14 mark.
They used one cut (3:14) until the mid to late 2010s.
It's the best one!
@@wrenchposting9097and they knew it, hence it's longer use than the rest of the package. I sorely miss it though, I wish they never took it off the air.
It was the bottom of the hour jingle, played at 30 minutes past the hour
Seems like it's 1988 all over again!!
@Renard345, I was born a year after these jingles came out.... As far as I remember, I didn't hear any of these on KNX until 1992 or 93 when I was a 3 or 4-year-old kid. Not because I tuned into the news on the radio then, but because of either my parents or other older relatives. Far as I know, they must have used these until the early 2000's. I especially remember the cuts used at the 1:56 and 3:14 mark.
I remember skinny Keen.
2:24 It's midnight! CBS news...I'm (name).
"KNX News Time, 1 O'Clock."
How come they still don't use these jingle's anymore?
Because they moved to the FM frequency. 97.1 FM KNX, almost 2 years.
They should make new jingles based on this music but use vocals to match the new frequency. These jingles is what made people love that station.
and the sound of the typewriter in the background, as well as the sigalert.
I miss the old jingles radio news so changed now
@@robwegnerThat is what gave KNX its own distinct sound. The sig alert pings of the 70’s & 80’s and the jingle.
