and vice versa... the last in the UK being of course the then-Princess Elizabeth marrying Philip. I think one can look back now on a hundred years or so of British royals marrying commoners to see pretty much how bad it's been (the two successful exceptions being the marriage of the Duke of York to Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, and... so far... Prince William and Catherine). Darned near all of the other marriages have collapsed. From Tony Snowdon (divorce) to Katharine Worsley (mental breakdown) to Diana Spencer (divorce) to Mark Phillips (divorce) to Sarah Ferguson (divorce), commoners just don't ever seem prepared for the burdens of marrying a royal. We can now add Autumn Phillips and Serena Stanhope to the list of those exiting the royal family, and I don't give Meghan Markle three more years before she moves on from Harry.

@@rah62 so you think that it's because of marriage to commoners that royals marriages ended in divorce? You think if Charles was married to a princess he'd still be married to her to this day, with his philandering with Camilla? Your statement do not make sense.

I love the royal family but they are inbreds, so they literally kept it in the family, when a prince married a princess they were most likely related

@@jcruby2328 I was thinking the same. Diana's marriage was doomed from the courtship on. Charles never intended to be faithful to her. He carried on with Camilla from the moment he proposed to the hapless and clueless young Diana.

Nobody said she was daughter of king.

That still makes her a princess as a grand daughter of a king.

Where do you claim someone said she was the daughter of a king?

Shw was the first cousin of Prince Philip QEII's late husband. They were paternal cousins. Seems to me this family kept it in the family eh..🙂

Was Princess Marina Greek? What was her connection to royality of Croatia ( Yugoslavia)?

Marina was a Greek princess, the third and youngest daughter of Prince Nicholas of Greece, who was in turn the third son of King George I of Greece. Marina's oldest sister, Olga, married Prince Paul of Yugoslavia, and so Marina often visited them to holiday. Prince Paul was a cousin of King Alexander of Yugoslavia, and actually he became the Regent of Yugoslavia about two months after this footage was taken, when Alexander was assasinated, because Alexander's son Peter was still a child.

Prince George’s sounds very natural, the princess’ sounds more forced, as in other interviews, a bit foreign, but charming nevertheless

Royals were not accustomed to speaking to the media or in front of cameras then. It was very unusual for them to do this.

At that time, it was the King's English (George V) in 1934.
