Someone once gave me the advice ”take what you do seriously, don’t take yourself seriously”. Karl is the perfect example of this.
@@MFKR696
Nile is nothing without Dallas
@@MFKR696 You know nothing of what happened with Dallas and Nile so shut the fuck up you moron.
@@advanced8526Nile is still amazing even without Dallas.
@@MFKR696 Hey man, could you elaborate a bit on that?
@@MFKR696yes, what’s wrong with having a common theme through a band’s music? That’s what Nile does with Egyptology (and it works great)
For those interested, the sheets on the window @ 10:23 say "You have the greatest trick in the known world" and "Stop formulating your complaints and play the accursed/damned drums".
40:31 my respect for Karl increased
As long as Erik Rutan is present in the room at least once during the recording process, the album will be 10-15% heavier. Fact.
True hahaha
100% Fact!!
Erik Rutan could just drive past the studio and the album will be 5% heavier.
@@Madhouse_Media 😂
Morbid Angel was at their best when Erik was with them. I don't know how much input he had on Gateways but it's crushing to this day
Dallas's left hand technique had me in a trance, so surgical and precise...no wasted movement or energy, utilizing every finger with perfect placement....Mind blowing
40:36 Respect for Karl Sanders for speaking out about Islam, you can mock christianity all you want but if that is turned on Islam, its a death sentence. Real injustice, if we're going to blast christianity also, don't leave islam out.
All types of religion deserves to be mocked
Except here in the US, you have conservatives who openly say they want to turn the country into a christofascist nation 🤷🏽♂️ So what does that tell you buddy? 🤔
Can't believe I've never come across this. Nile is one of my top 3 death metal bands, and Karl Sanders is my hero.
I’ve been waiting for years to see this. People are charging insane amounts for the box set that this came in. Thanks for posting!
I've purchased the dvd directly from Juan Punchy Gonzalez at cheap price, you can contact him by his mail....check on dow studios on the web and you'll find it. Hope this could be useful for you and for anyone are interested in this dvd.
I just paid for it😢
Karl recording death metal guitars with big smile on his face haha
This explains why Kollias has songwriting credits, becuase he basicly just records the drums by himself and then shows it to the rest of the band. Some bands are really tight and do all their songwriting together, or one guy does it by himself while the rest of the band watches. Nile is a more loose band where they come up with their ideas separately and throw them together later. It really seems to work too.
Sonar Producer 8 not 7.
Uh no, Nile always writes the drums to the guitars and George adds his own thing to it after having the basic patterns and drum parts from drum programming or manipulationof previous nile drum tracks. For the most part he plays what was written by Karl and Dallas. That is well documented. Not to take away from George cause that's impossible, he adds his sound to it but the basics are from the guitar players
@@Epochstudiosyeah I was gonna say, the drum parts in these songs can be very complicated and George gets very creative with the parts, he’s an essential part of the writing process
@@EpochstudiosGeorge gets credited for most songs from ithyphalic onwards so I think he does have some influence on the final version of the song at least drum wise.
"It just works" - Dallas ToddHoward-Wade
I met Karl back in 90s, first time seeing them he rolled out a cart with a CRT monitor and computer below. That ran some sound track effect. When I asked him what it did said that’s the magic box that does things.
Every drummer smiles and laughs through the whole drum recording it’s pure blast beat fest George is amazing
No wonder this album was so great... Erik rutan and Neil were involved!!! I at least listen to this album like 4 to 7 times a week
Watching and listening to this is like watching gods among insects creating pillers of death and intricacy that I can only hope to play in dreams. Love Nile.
"It pretty...groovy"
*Everyone goes hysteric*
George is an absolute beast on the drums. Really cool doc!
Truly an amazing band!! Nile will always be one of my favorites!
Very nice documentary make more. Nile is one of my top 3 death metal bands of all time, they really sound amazing.
I miss Dallas but the new lineup crushes as well. NILE \m/
I just said that today to a friend
WOW! This band is so badass, and this behind the scenes footage just backs up a lot of what I have been thinking about Nile for the last couple years. This is a band that grows on you IMO. Each album has a unique sound and you can tell that a lot of work was put in to craft the albums. This particular album just scorches from top to bottom. Nile is HIGHLY recommended for any Death Metal fan out there. \m/ \m/
It’s so crazy how far home recording has evolved since this
I so wish they would release instrumental versions of all the songs (off all their albums) so that we could fully enjoy all the intricate guitar and drum work. I feel like so much gets lost behind the vocals, especially in the more recent albums where the vocals are ever-present.
I agree to an extent but with Black Seeds of Vengeance. The vocals really helped create a great atmosphere with that album in particular. Also with Annihilation of the Wicked as well.
@@nowimhigh I’m with you on that, I love the vocals on those albums. Personally for me, with death metal in general, the vocals are a key element in creating a cadence, atmosphere and tempo to a song that will make it more engaging, or just adding so much more of a horror vibe than one would get without the gnarly distorted vocals
the vocals are so unique and archaic sounding I think it fills out the mix. on some solid speakers I can def hear everything. except the bass lol.
Same
These guys are so goofy.
I love the doc, neat seeing what goes on during the production of the album..
Awesome doc, miss the skullet Dallas! 😂 Check out his band narcotic wasteland!
Gonna see em in Raleigh NC June 26🤘
Font used: Papyrus :D
the only appropriate use of the font in the history of mankind
I wish we could see some bass tracking as well.
Absolutely loved the guitar tracking parts... Makes me wanna practice like crazy !
No bass video recordings. I was so curious about that topic in Nile. However, thank you for the video! It's awesome!
There was no bass player at the time so as with Annihilation of the wicked, Dallas recorded all the bass tracks!
I've wanted to see this for so long! Thank you!!!!
When a fucking goofball is essentially engaging in occult workings, while not even really thinking of it in those terms... what a dichotomy! This Karl fellow is quite an interesting type of dude.
Dallas' recording setup is on point 🤘
Am I really seeing and hearing correctly that the guitar players get a final recorded track in one take for an entire song? If so, that's nuts!
Yes for the most part. It is sick for sure. But don't get it twisted, punching in here and there is needed and saves tons of time( yes Nile and every other band ever does this also). What matters is they play the stuff live! And that is much much more impressive! I've seen Nile 3X live in 3 different states(Nevada,Utah and Colorado) and they are always on top of their game live. They never disappoint LIVE!
Neil Kernon. Pure British Gentleman.
Thanks for sharing. One of my favorites albums from them.
Cool man I've been serching hard for this i, I was considering paying for an actual copy until I came across this. Thanks! \M/
God I love this band so much.
GOD like awesome 👍👍 Music
F YEAH KARL, FROM THE TOP, BROTHER!!!!!!!!! Working Hard!!!!
18:06 Dallas wearing a Warbringer endless killing shirt.
Which is hilarious because they actually feuded due to a small stage at a show in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Triple Rock, and Warbringer had to play on the floor instead of the stage 'cause Nile's equipment took up all the space. Dallas even mentioned it the following year when they opened for Cannibal Corpse and had to set up their gear in front of CC's without complaining.
I love the water marked paper!
Good stuff
Those whom the gods detest is one of my top favorite Nile albums along with Black Seeds Of Vengeance, In Their Darkened Shrines and Annihilation Of The Wicked
DALLAS played a show in NY with his latest band---10 songs-- IT WAS THE METALLICA OF METAL SHOWS!!!!!! PERFECT !!!!!! 😊
Fuck it was so mind-blowing... So sad you guys broke out... 2000-2010 was the best Nile's period... The Vile stuff out of count
How many times do you get to see your fav album being tracked on video? almost never !! I will watch this video for next 30 yrs!!....Id love to know how the hell they come up with these fucking riffs...sounds straight from hell...fkg love this album \M/ \M/
“Give him cigarettes and he will just bust out 280”😂😂
27:40 wait, whaaaaat? his own deli chef and masseuse?? i think erik wanted to make sure we had our listening ears on lmfao
KAFIR--is one of the greatest songs to play on drums!!!!!!!! YESSSSS!!!!!!!! 😊
DALLAS, KARL AND GK!!!!! Great guys and friends forever!!!!! PETE as well!!!!! 😊🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️😎🥁🎶💪💪💪💥
Very cool to see a documentary for this skull crushing album, very insighful.
love iskander dhul karnon track
PERFECT
they are just sweethearts both of ém ...... makes me think of pulp fiction....the garden scene..."a couple of dorks"
22:57 has a little Slayer- Supremist vibe I thought
brilliant
That was enjoyable to watch
I love
Best album, IMHO
Yup.

I used to live in South Carolina, and I miss the state, one of the hidden gems
As much as it depersonalizes things, doing things this way could be pretty beneficial. Being in a band is like a sexless marriage, so anything you can do to lessen the suck is a good thing.
Are they doing one take tracking on those guitars?
"We're not worthy!
Kollias yyeeeeaaah 👍👍👍
Assemble the Millennium items!
brutallllllllllllllllll long life nile
No bass tracking?
What song is that playing at 7:15 ?
Equal opportunity of blasphemy lol. A+
50:48 utterances of the crawling dead 🔥 🙌
Cuz fuckin Dean makes the best guitars! Glad Dallas opened with a nice shirt
4th Arra Of Dagon is fuckin crushing!!!
10:09 Bayern Munich, what a legend 😂
Once Dallas left, so did I! I also think Ithyphalic was more of a Memorable album than this one
So who recorded the bass?
Karl and Dallas recorded the bass. The bass player at the time was a touring guy.
Only Dallas recorded Bass! That is well documented and Dallas also recorded Bass on Annihilation of the wicked
Why is it so hard to keep a camera steady??
Karl is such a legend
6:00 simple f*****g equipment..
53:11 😂😂
Después de ver esto y su manera de trabajar y compañerismo me da lastima que se haya ido Dallas
Karl bleeds cool….And metal!🤘
fucking sick
Karl is still one of the coolest guys on earth.
wheres the bass?
Dallas did the basslines.
7:20 I love that song. Too bad they never play it live
Which song was that?
@@adilmertates849 permitting the noble dead to decent into the underworld
@@Zeldadude17I’m fairly certain they played it live when I saw them years ago, when Dallas was still in the band. During the Sethu tour
Who played bass on this record?
Dallas did.
Dallas
Gahd, watching this makes me feel like shit as a guitar player.
death metal is dramatic!
I love Karl 😂
The coolest nerds I have ever seen
19:30
What happened to Dallas? Why did he leave the band and what's he up to nowadays?
He basically said that it was just time for a change in his life, and also something about his son needing him around that time. He's got another project on his own called Narcotic Wasteland.
@@ZombiesOnYourLawn66 OK, that's understandable, I guess. It would have been sad if there were any hard feelings involved and he had left on bad terms since he seems to be a likable dude to me. I checked out his project you mentioned. It's not too bad but I'm inclined to say that it is "just" (w/ all due respect) Nile w/o that certain something which sets them apart from pretty much any DM act, their hallmark if you will.
Besides, I find it kind of a bummer that they didn't shed light on the bass work or all the other extra stuff like choirs, Karl playing the oud (or whatever that instrument is called), the Arabic vocals ... But I found it funny how humble Mr. Rutan comes across, unlike in some Mana Recording Studios videos :).
He was tired of touring
@@dimifisher7942 hes been touring since!?
@@OnePlickyDood i guess he does some touring with his new band but not so much as when he was with Nile
I think the one member ate the rest of the past members.. That's where they went?
I Have The Logo Tattooed On My Hand 🔥
I wonder if they were in quarantine, that's why they didn't jam together and send stuff out to each other!?
This album came out in 2009
I don't know if this comment is serious or if you're kidding?
Quarantine? In 2009? I mean people were worried about swine flu but...
No they were sending stuff to each other beacuse George lives in Greece and the rest of the band are located in the US
Quite common in the last 20 years for band members to record in separate studios also George lives in Greece most of the time I believe.
Huge fan of Nile, love their work but it's very sad that it is the spirit of many metal acts as he said. Total rebellion, no ability to look into the future, eternity, and then have the capability to have a crucial spiritual course correction despite the insane gifts and talents they have.
He says "kafir" completely wrong oof
Jason Keyser broke and reset his finger on stage. George Kollias got really scared over a swollen calf.
Whoever edited this did such a horrible job.
Why did "Juan Punchy Gonzalez " do a horrible job?
This was 15 years ago
Fantastic album against islam and barbarism. My favorite Nile album because it humiliates muslims and "Allah".
Dallas here looks like combination of metal jesus rocks and Forrest Gump and and I'm all about it... could be the southern drawl
