OK I think I need to clarify how the AB special offer works: When you submit your order, ensure you put Painting Panzers in the message box. During the checkout process you'll 'pay' postage, this is normal but your money will NOT be debited until Nic (AB) has approved the order. So, Nic will look through the orders coming and the ones that have Painting Panzers in the box will have the postage removed and you'll only be charged for the miniatures. So, to clarify, if I make an order worth $35AUD and I'm in the UK I'll agree to pay the $25AUD postage cost ($60 AUD all up). Once I've checked out and 'paid' my money will still be in my account. Once AB have approved the transaction, they'll scratch the postage cost, so then the only funds taken out will be $35AUD. This offer only works for the AB figures website. Please, if you have any issues just message me, and we can try to fix it.
I was lucky enough to have met Antony Barton when I living in London when AB Napoleonics first started to come out on the market. Got to be some of the most stunning sculpts ever.

Despite having scads of 28mm stuff from Warlord and Empress, I ended up watching this videos a few times in the last few weeks, and it worked its insidious magic on me. I just placed a largish order with Eureka USA for some AB British figures and a few Germans for them to bayonet.
I never knew 1/72 could be so detailed! Within a few hours of watching this video i'd picked up a camo german infantry squad plus panzerfausts and some British infantry in windproofs :)
Great video, highly informative review! I absolutely love AB figures, they are most definitely in top 3 of my favourite metal miniatures producers/sellers. The big three is Adler, TQD and AB. All 3 of them are stunning and each of them has some advantages over the others, but in terms of quality it is a really tough choice to pick only one. AB is most definitely the best for wargaming because of it's extensive range, superb 10 or more men packs/squads and other roles (artillery crews, medics, officers but also tank and vehicle crews).
Thank you very much buddy 🙌 I haven't checked out Adler or TQD yet, but I've seen pictures that all look great. We really are lucky to be this spoilt when it comes to all these great miniatures 😋
@@paintingpanzers Sure thing, back in a day we could only rely on "big" plastic manufacturers and while those figures are not bad are easily affordable they have their cons as you mentioned in the video. I was positively surprised with the quality of TQD and I definitely recommend them. Sadly they are only sold in small packs, but that works great as a supplement (for example if you are missing something for your platoon made by AB :)) Adler does make full squads/platoons - their range is small compared to AB as they concentrate on other scales, but it appears they are expanding it - I have been waiting for their british marine commandos and they have recently been released! (just checked haha). Adler's minis are the best when it comes to webbing in my opinion - I have their US Airborne Platoon and figures are filled with various items (backpack, pouches, grenades, bags, even flashlights and walkie-takies), and poses are highly dynamic. I must admit that the timing of this video is exceptional, as I had plans to make an order from AB :)
@Lehr-km5be oh dear, don't tell me this!! I'll have to get an order in TONIGHT 😋 I do need to paint up some 20mm US Airborne so I think you've twisted my arm. I'm stoked you'll be making the most of the deal, use the savings to grab another set of something cool 😉
@@paintingpanzers I only got the british Arnhem personalities out of british airborne which are stunning, so I presume that the rest of the airborne range looks just as good :) I mostly got german fallschirmjaegers from TQD but did not get down to painting them yet, however the sculpts are amazing. Also I got a question regarding this free postage: how is this actually going to work? As the only thing we are doing is adding a message to the order, is the shipping costs just going to be refunded via paypal?
@Lehr-km5be ah right, I'll be sure to grab a few bits then 👌 they sound awesome!! I believe the way it works is that you put your order in and once its been received & then reviewed your money is taken. So, no money is debited at the start of the transaction, so even though you're agreeing to pay postage, Nic will just remove it before charging you. If that makes sense?
Normally I only work with 6mm and 15mm, but the figures look so great, and I just got the Primosole Bridge book from Vallhalla Games, so I had to get a couple of squads of Red Devils
AB figures are superb. I bought some a couple of years ago to try out, and ended up ordering more figures that I didn't even need. BTW, AB's 20mm are noticeably smaller than PSC's 1/72 scale. At the tabletop level, that might not be that big a deal, but it does bear mentioning. The PSC dudes look like NFL linemen compared to the ABs :)
Thanks for the comment buddy 👍 you can't best AB at the scale. I find most plastic models to be far less superior when we talk about infantry. I appreciate your info on the PAC sets though... I'll probably give them a miss 🤣

Awesome video as always! I decided to start bolt action in 20mm because of Mr. Piers's work as well. 👍 Apart from AB miniature, there are also other great 20mm Miniature manufacturers out there as well. I have a great experience with Elheim miniature. My favorite are his G43 ss squad and ww2 German zombie and werewolves. The other is Britanica from Grubby tank, I have not ordered from there since there was some issues ordering online in the past, but he got quite a lot of interesting stuff, the one that catch my eyes the most is the German Calvary unit. Not something you saw quite often. Highly recommend you to check them out and maybe do some review for them. Also if you don’t mind me asking, do you have any plan to do video tutorial on preparing AB miniature before paint? Especially on the mold line removing part. I have tried to clean them and have made some progress but to be honest I’m not really quite satisfied with the results so I would love to see how you did them seeing how each of your miniatures in your tutorial looks so clean. Thank you in advance.😁
Yeah, Piers is work made me invest in 20mm too lol. Damn him ... my wallet hates me ;) I've got some things lined up from Elheim that I'm desperate to order, mainly the modern range but I'll definitely check out those SS miniatures, I'm not so sure on zombies though ;) Britanica have a huge range so I think you're right, I definitely need to have a look at these. I didn't plan on doing a video on the cleanup process as it is really easy, I only use a metal file but the next AB painting tutorial I do I'll make sure I show that stage for you :)
Is there a side by side comparison of AB ww2 20mm to 1/72 plastics? I am still on the fence about going with plastic or metal. Also is there a US distributer? Thanks
I don't have a side by side comparison of AB to plastics but in my honest opinion, i think the plastics are far less superior when compared to AB. You won't be disappointed with these, trust me! In terms of distributer in the US, you can find them at Eureka USA: eurekaminusa.com/collections/world-war-ii-20mm-british
Thanks, My biggest concern was they might be too small for 1/72 scale vehicles. Is there a height comparison chart you could post? I can't find any online. I do like the heft of metal. I have some of zvezda's 1/72 WW2 Russians that are close to 30mm (the website says they are 25mm) but that also includes the thick base. I don't care for them because they are made in hard plastic and extremely fragile, all the rifles have broke off because of how thin the plastic is. Sorry to drown on, but thanks.
Thanks for the review! I disagree completely, though, on the detail comparison part regarding plastic models. Esci models (now italeri), for instance are extremely detailed, and have been since the 1980's, and not at all less detailed than these.
Hi! Thanks for taking the time to watch this review and for leaving feedback :) I completely understand what you're saying and you're not wrong, the newer plastics are great compared to the older ones. However, these AB Figures trump those massively when compared side by side. The poses are a lot more natural, the detail is way more crisp and easier to paint, not to mention the facial expressions are different on each model. I'm in no way bashing plastics, they're great but these AB figures are the Caviar of miniatures in 1/72 scale. Obviously this is my own opinion and we are all entitled to our own views :)
Haha ... sorry? 🤣 honestly though, if you're seriously interested I'd highly recommend using the free shipping offer and just grab a few small packs and see if you like them .... which I know you will 🤫😉
