My complaint was Royal Decree + Horus lv8. Making a spell+trap lock with a 3000 beat stick on board is insane in that format. You need to put monsters in your deck that have removal in order to beat that and even then you're on a clock. Plus, you can also draw the out against modern stun decks too, doesn't make them less unhealthy.

@@IC-23 that's still just a draw the out situation. By that logic Superheavy isn't broken because Dark Ruler no More, Droll and Maxx "C" counters them. Any card or deck can be countered, doesn't make them balanced and definetely not fun. And you know the quote "If it's not fun, why bother?"-Reggie

If you're playing in a format where the battlw phase and attacking is MUCH more important than current yugioh, and yout opponent gets to just stop you from attacking, then thats a stun deck. Especially if they can play more floodgates than you can play removal

@@ChadKakashi I don't even think it's good. It's a slow format that's filled with even more sacky cards than modern yugioh, and doesn't even feel unique compared to other card games. Goat format ain't yugioh. Edison on the other hand does feel like yugioh

Yeah, modern stun is more intense but modern combo has a higher ceiling.
I'm pretty lucky I only had to play 3 games, I played burn with no floodgates (unless Marshmelon is a floodgate) I played burn with no floodgates or power spells, kind of hilarious how everyone flipped Royal Decree and still lost by virtue of sucking at Goats, got PoG looped on me and won because it doesn't matter how many cards you draw if both they and you suck.
I was gonna try to play Rescue Cat turbo but since all the best "Combo" cards from Goat era have been butchered by errata of course stun and control are basically the only options.

Because you're actually able to play the game and most decks have backrow removal so you at least have a good chance to draw something to turn the tables. Unlike modern YGO where unless you're playing decks where 1 card lets you play half your deck, you just lose to hand traps and then literally die turn 2. Or maybe you go second and have to sit there and watch as your opponent plays a 30 minute turn to set up a board that literally counters anything you do. I swear, the people who complain about you not being able to do anything in GOAT are blind to the fact that modern YGO is literally "who can prevent more plays from their opponent".
@@Mouse_Librarian I don’t deny modern yugioh doesn’t have its sticking points (even if I do really like the combos and faster style)
My issue is I don’t have the recourses to burn making goats card (a good chunk that are banned in modern) for a limited time mode so just settled on the best loaner deck only to be stuck playing constant marshmellow stall and burn cards I can’t do shit about

Stall was mostly annoying because normal people aren't going to craft Trunade or Heavy Storm for a 3 day event. Mobius was also legal. We had outs, you just weren't playing them. (Neither was I. This isn't meant to be judgemental, just stating that there is counterplay and decks had more than enough space for it)
@@jmurray1110Oh, I absolutely agree with that. I had more fun playing the event than the last couple months against insta-win snake-eyes and I also mostly used the loaner decks. Having to craft banned URs just to play competitively is a problem for sure. Honestly, I think they should just give full sets for everyone for all events anyway so everyone has the chance to have fun with different rules as a break from the toxic crap that is ladder.

The goat event really was awesome. I ended up winning a duel by taking my opponent’s Cyber Stein using exchange, and going into Megamorphed Meteor Black Dragon. It was hilarious

Well i played not much of the goat event. But my experience was everyone played the level deck. And as soon as big Horus landed it was over. This was the exact same thing all 3 games after switchin to it. And my opponents were allplayin thesame strat.
The first day of the 2004 event was just stun and burn. It was awful. It was much more fun playing a couple days later.

My issue with GOAT is HOW sacky the game is.
The next month is a good time to bring Tear and Kash full power against Snake-Eye Fire decks to balance things out. So the top decks are 3 not 1 and each one of them is Tear 0 in it is own right.
So we have Tear 0 and they can get their money but for plsyer end it get a bit cheaper plus on top there is variety. It will be great. So make toxic fun and great again.
This will give a boost for Soul Drain and stun which can be the 4th meta deck.
My literal first reaction to the goat format was realizing Pacman was legal and needed 0 URs.
If konami gives me power like that i know the format isn't good.
gimmick puppet nightmare is kinda shit. but Gimmick puppet (before support) is really struggling with resource generation. so having an opponent going "Here, one less monster to worry about for your Link-2/XYZ-8" it's like... pure joy.
Farfa not understanding why people hate Goat is hilarious the reason is so many decks in goat use busted generic cards and in some of them these cards are their wincon and there’s nothing you can do about them unless you running the one good counter trap judgement mean while in modern generic cards aren’t as game winning as they used to be and you can interact with them instead of just watching them duster away your back row and die also they aren’t used to beat your opponent their used to interact with them so in summary the lack of interaction and how game winning generic cards are the reasons why people dislike goat (also a funny thing I realized when typing this is so many yugiboomers complain about how you need to put the best cards in every deck when it’s the exact same situation in old yugioh)
Another thing I forgot to mention is yeah not being able to attack is a big deal in a format where attacking is your most accessible removal

And at least 1 Diabellestarr is in ANY deck I touch now.
Low key sad SE became meta, I do hope they dont make it unplayable after the banlist because I still wanna play it.
(Personally I think we need to ban more generic extra deck monsters like I:P or Apollo since SE and ShS are proof enough that they're too strong and are ok decks without those cards)

@@SoulNinjaKen I like them as well. Built them day 1 in MD. The archetype is fun to play and has very different lines you can choose for the situation you are in.
The only problem I have with the deck is that they "take the personality" of other fire decks.
Fire King, Rescue-ace and even Infernoids play the snake-eyes package. When back then they only used the Sinful spoils engine for consistency.
Correct if I'm wrong, but It reminds me of Spright when was a good deck and a good engine as well. And we all know what happened to them months later, spright nowadays is just played as engine. I just hope that they don't turn like them.
I honestly enjoyed the goat event as knowing set 2 pass doesn’t automatically equals death is always a good feeling, not to mention managing your resources in the long term felt like an actual battle going on. Sure stun exits in goat format but stun has existed since the beginning and still lives on today so I don’t get why bringing that up is relevant.
Its harder to out them cus alot of people don't want to craft Strom for 3 days event
@@fajarwaradana9264 you can literally stack as many dust tornados, mystical space typhoon, raigeki break and various other back row removal in goat format since you can carry multiple back row spells given how slow it is and they are all R rarity so they aren’t expensive. It ain’t like modern day where you gotta shove as many hand traps and engine pieces as possible while only having one or two back row removal at best so again, stun ain’t that big of a deal in goat.
On the GOAT format thing, yeah complainers it was hot for a reason. Not just the anime

Because gravity bind doesn't win the game, the same way swords of revealing light doesn't win the game. It's 'stun', but not really the win condition.
The appeal of Goat format has to do with top decking even when you've depleted your resources, being able to survive because you've been able to activate mirror force/torrential tribute and most importantly being able to actually play the game without your whole hand getting negated.
