Homes with this aesthetic say "fun" or "lived in". If I spilled my red wine, I would get laughed at, not scorned for ruining the $8,000 white rug. Don't get me wrong, I love contemporary homes including minimalist design, but sometimes my heart really feels this kind of home. Love that ladder to the roof! Anybody that is a child at heart would love to climb up on the roof! I love how it is a smaller modest home without any excess. Do we really need a 8 person dining room that we only use 3 of 365 days? And that amazing private garden courtyard, I am in heaven! The artist in me would be very comfy in a place like this. I feel relaxed just viewing it, I can only imagine living there. Nice job Jimmy! You win my vote for top 5 livable homes in Australia!
This is a great example of how to do a modern house and incorporate nature into it and also not worry about the clutter and worry about 'minimalism' that so often modern architecture seems to demand. This is the opposite of minimalist and it still works! Great, honest look into a real house without staging.
Yes! A modern design, owned by a creative who isn't doing minimalism, and it works! I appreciate minimalism, but I couldn't do it or live in it in my own home, even if I tried really hard. Not a hoarder, but a lover of beautiful things and stuff. I love the green life and the overall vibe of this house!
LOVE LOVE LOVE homes that are infused with as many plants and elements of nature as possible, its such a beautiful break from the monotony of walls and concrete!! ♥
Not just a spectacular house but a real spirited home. I would really appreciate if you showed better footage of the kitchen and the bathroom because the little we can see is stunning. I d love to own a home like yours Jimmy. Serene.
I went past this home yesterday and its such a beautiful example of how architecture can make an environment better. It brings delight and real inspiration to a tastefully bland inner suburban area.
I’ve said it before - showing a FLOOR PLAN would be an easy and efficient way to connect the visuals to the design concepts. Including these won’t take away from content included in the book. 🙏 Awesome house!!
Wow, talk about a home with a soul and atmosphere galore. Love the courtyard and insanely well though out architecture and material choices. Love the moody vibe and lived in look. The connection to nature especially the view of the garden is simply stunning.
Sometimes in looking at a home, you specifically like this or that about it. In this case, it was more like a heart-felt "yes" to the entire home. This is one I'll remember for a long time. Thank you.
Absolutely excellent! I think this home is my favourite on the channel. Love how much thought has gone into it. Aesthetics, light and the environment. Great job.
The touch of personal curation that metamorphoses an aesthetic home into a dwelling that radiates a sense of uniqueness- the courtyard spaces are nothing short of magical. There is something profoundly endearing about glimpsing the external universe of Jimmy's home. From the perimeter garden to the central garden space and the rest perched on the roof, each element adds a layer of enchantment. I find it captivating.
Congrats on 1mil! ❤ This has to be one of the best projects and I must say my dream home would definitely resemble something like this, Absolutely Love it!
Not quite my personal style but absolutely stunning and a flawless execution - love the green spaces, multi-levels and wood interiors - Thanks for posting !!
Quite simply the best house designed for now, with extraordinary detail inside and out. If I ever own land I will be borrowing heavily from Jimmy's design.
A perfectly well thought out and executed design. Considerate to his neighbors, answers all of the inhabitants needs and fully compliant with the local regulations. He’s come up with something unique that has piqued the residents’ interest in architecture. Bravo Sir👍😎🤘🤙👊
I think there is something about how cool this residence is. I felt like I wanted to be invited over for a medicinal tea and roasted casserole from the courtyard oven or something. That's what great architecture does, it invites you in. It says hey if I hired Jimmy to design my house I wonder if I would end up being the coolest kid on the block too. I also love that sustainability was at the forefront and not a bolt on at the end of the design but incorporated as part of the house. Well done. It looks amazing and I can only imagine what it feels like living there.
My new dream home. I’ve been looking into home ideas that align with my spirit and love of life. Your entire design meets, and exceeds my vision. Mahalo for sharing.
Quirky and beautiful, with that marvelous indoor/outdoor feel and great thought put into the light that comes through and the gardens all around and even above, making this a "green home."
Wow what a stunning place to call home! A urban jungle, with a bohemian twist celebrating the old meets now and the future. Once I get rich will holler at yous....... you can transform my humble Melbourne boudoir into something similar to this! Luvin this channel, thanks for sharing!
SO much to love about this structure, wow! Even down to the details like the amazing artist's pallette side table (among many others). Really well planned, and well laid-out, right down to understanding how the light affects the home (bedrooms on the north side, very smart). It looks very calming and cozy, yet has a comfortable modern flair. And that roof is fantastic as well; however, aesthetics aside, you really should get some type of fencing around it. One unexpected trip on all that vegetation, and you could go sailing over, arse over teakettle!
Is there any way to turn this house "inside out" for a view lot? Man, have we got a parcel of land out of Prescott, Arizona that needs a house on it. 50+ mile views! ❤
The house is so beautiful and the idea of an internal courtyard is awesome because it gives you the outdoors yet total privacy from neighbours. I love this. The only thing I found disappointing was his statement about the area only being inhabited for 100 years. That was really tone deaf considering the inside had Aboriginal art as well. I know he didn't mean it like that, but it wasn't great. Apart from this, the tour was beautiful and it felt like a proper oasis. Thanks for these videos. They give insight into a life most of us will never afford.
Stop creating things to be offended about. If you rewatch and listen carefully he actually didn’t say it’s ONLY been inhabited for the last 100 years, instead merely referencing that period in time in relation to the current built form of the area….
Not a big plot but wonderfully utilised. Love the way nature and green space is incorporated into the home. Zany labyrinth of ‘cosyness’. I wonder how the plants on the roof are watered. Is there a reticulation system that turns on at certain times? And how much and how often?
@0:53, that's a lived in house and not the manicured perfection of a Homes & gardens walkthrough. @4:50, that is a confined site. I see now why there is so much rooftop greenery. Delightful cats enjoying the sunshine.
He said a mouthful. "Sub-divided" we're losing more and more liveable space!!! I love gardening, but apartments anymore give nothing to grow anything. No soil and of course no hose hookups. Limited space, but unlimited rent increases!! Too sad😢 Love this house and the natural, edible garden spaces. BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Really interesting space. I'm curious where he keeps the litter boxes. Peculiar to talk about sustainability and also have the video bookended by car ads, however.
I love the home; how do you deal with neighbours being this close to the house? Or is it that you have to accept being surrounded by - assuming - noises at all times?
all part of the charm of a home like this. Living away from a city or suburb can be well....isolating. That internal courtyard looks like the best private retreat ever!
agree with all the comments, but one question...was Jimmy STONED in his presentation? Just sayin'!! Old FL Designer/Builder here, who's familiar with that attitude :-) btw...what's the S.M.-cost of the build? THAT really is the point for...why YOU don't live in something similar, right? AND...mortgage-free! Don't lie. I do, but it sure isn't "easy", kids. Buona fortuna!

I don’t think there’s a box that this home doesn’t tick. Love everything. One of my absolute favourites so far.
same here, it's so well designed and thought out. you can tell this dude has a soul
There’s something about this house. It’s very true and authentic, without sugar coating. Bravo 👏

Yeah, some houses are so good they need an hour long episode.
I went past this home yesterday and its such a beautiful example of how architecture can make an environment better. It brings delight and real inspiration to a tastefully bland inner suburban area.
I’m lucky to live nearby and loved watching this being built and garden spill on to park.
I’ve said it before - showing a FLOOR PLAN would be an easy and efficient way to connect the visuals to the design concepts. Including these won’t take away from content included in the book. 🙏
Awesome house!!
100% agree! My brain needs to see the floor plan to put everything in context & see how it all ACTUALLY works together.
Wow, talk about a home with a soul and atmosphere galore. Love the courtyard and insanely well though out architecture and material choices. Love the moody vibe and lived in look. The connection to nature especially the view of the garden is simply stunning.
Great to see finally a house that looks like people live in, great job
it's like he went into my brain and created my dream home - but from the looks of the comments, this is everyone's dream home. Absolutely beautiful.
Finally… I have been searching for years on UA-cam for content like this. Thank you, Local Project. Keep up the marvelous work.
More to come!
there also another channel called "Never too small" which is also amazing!
Great job.
Awesome home with no compromise for gardening
Now, that's my kind of quirky. Love this house.
The smartest small home plan I've seen on UA-cam.
Please create another vid that shows more about the floorplan and living features.
Being creative and skillful may allow a designer to think outside the box. ✨
it's not an house. it's a place in the world. wunderfull
Surely, food for thought.
love the moody bar/kitchen, feels so relaxed and homey.

Appreciate your vision and execution.

Ingenious and beautifully realized!

Best maximalist decor in a super cool home! Love the lines and light!!
So wild and moody. I love how personal this project is. I can see myself actually lives here.
Now make these design principles available to everyday home construction.

Thanks for your perspective, we're so glad to hear you're feeling inspired by this project 🙌
I'm loving Jimmy's house! Well done mate!

Okay, just found my dream home ❤
Quirky and beautiful, with that marvelous indoor/outdoor feel and great thought put into the light that comes through and the gardens all around and even above, making this a "green home."
That was perfect. I love the use of brick tiling for pattern and porosity, and the green programming was well done.
Love the light and airiness.
Superb building
Masterpiece! ❤
beautiful house and brilliant use of space
Wow what a stunning place to call home!

Fabulous home and concept, the 100% green footprint is amazing.
Sensitive, stylish and so welcoming! A real tour de force
Absolutely LOVE your design!!

Beautiful home
Gorgeous work! And I had to giggle over the cat who looked upset about global emissions.
Beautiful home. Just hope Jimmy’s neighbor with the pool and fully concrete back yard becomes influenced a bit …
Stunning house, loved every bit
Us too!
Jimmy is the business!

Absolutely Brilliant and Beautiful!!
Im too distracted by the amok island cockatoo print I missed out on! But love the focus on vegetation, light & shadow
I love the garden 😍

Love this, how much space is needed to create this?
Absolutely brilliant…….🎉
Good ideas♡
Would to have
seen a Floorplan!
Absolutely fabulous

How do you control the insects and creeping creatures with all those plants in there?
love it!
❤this house so much😘
Fabulous!👏🏻
Really interesting space. I'm curious where he keeps the litter boxes. Peculiar to talk about sustainability and also have the video bookended by car ads, however.
This guy seems like such a cool unique weirdo. I want to be his best friend and talk design with him.
An interior that looks like the inside of a Charity shop
house of the yr spectaculor its like living in a tropical oasis
On the full moon you can hear Jimmy howling naked from the roof garden.
great space
wow - love it
Fab.
When he said ‘there’s a lot of life up there’ I thought🕷️🕷️🕸️🕷️🕸️🕷️🕸️🕷️😂😂😂
A car commercial in disguise of an architectural video.
I like it, I like it a lot
Great job, Jimmy. Really different and cool home. I haven't seen a home from Perth on the Local Project. Nice to see this one.
love it.
I like the house and the video, BUT the "background" music is way too loud and the bass is driving me crazy. Please 🙏turn the volume down🎚⬇.

I thought it was Jim Thomson’s house in Thailand my bad lol
@Need some UK Properties, Its so bland here. Especially 2 bedroom terraced houses
It drives me crazy how they never show floor plates for these properties. Like do they want us to understand the architecture or not?
