    Hi everyone!
In today's video, I discuss my overall grad school experience and talk little more in-depth about my grades, classes, and struggles I faced in m graduate program. In addition, I give some tips/advice for current and aspiring grad students based on my own experience. Finally, I end the video by answering your questions! Everything I discuss in this video is from my own personal experience, and how it has worked for me. 😊

Congratulations, this is so encouraging. As far back as I can remember, while I was in school there has always been this struggle in my personal life, that made things more difficult for me.

    Congratulations!
This was a well put together video, and I can relate A LOT to the personal journey you have faced. I have had a learning disability my whole life. I just graduated from college with my bachelor’s degree in English, and to say I am proud of myself is an understatement. I am also the first in my family to graduate from college.
Originally, I wanted to be a High School Teacher. However, college taught me that teaching is simply not a strong fit for me. I was very involved in college: I was a Resident Assistant in the residence halls for 3 years, I was a peer-mentor for first-year students and first-generation students, attended conferences, etc. I truly made the most of my undergraduate experience.
Because my involvement was so meaningful for myself and others, I have decided to pursue my masters in college student personnel. I plan to work in residence life, academic support & counseling, and diversity/inclusion initiatives with a focus on first-generation student development. I am so excited to begin graduate school!
As you can relate most likely, it has been a long journey. But, I see light and hope. I am eager to work with residential students as a Graduate Assistant (GA) At my Alma-mater while beginning my graduate studies.
    I wish you the best!

Not only do we have the same name 😊 I am starting grad school this fall and I am nervous! I also had a learning disability since elementary school and struggled for years academically but I persevered and starting my Master program. Thanks for this video! I really see the similarities in our stories and I hope to be successful like you!

Thanks for sharing your journey. I think I really needed to hear it. I am starting Grad school in January. My insecurities and imposter syndrome has prevented me from going after it and I’ve put it off for a few years. But I am excited to go back to school and pursue my dreams.

Hi this is a lovely video !! Congratulations on your masters !!!! ❤️❤️❤️ I was wondering how could I join your black grad support group ? I am a first year graduate student and it has been very tough.

Aww thank you so much! Unfortunately, I don't have the black grad support group anymore. I created the group when I was in grad school for the Black grad students at my university. I too struggled to find community my first year of grad school so that's why I created the group myself and was able to build connections with folks during and after grad school. I recommend you create a support group especially if you looking to build connections with your Black grad peers at your school. I hope that helps! :)
