    Let’s be honest, we all stopped and asked ourselves… is Grad School Difficult?! Well today, I am discussing the differences between Grad & Undergrad and unpacking Is Grad School Really Hard?
    Hi Friends! Grad school is a mysterious place because you can’t really understand what it is until you go through it, BUT today I am listing the major differences between graduate school and undergrad. When I was an undergrad, I had NO IDEA how grad school could be different than my undergrad, but I just knew it was. Hopefully by describing how grad and undergrad differ you are able to figure out for yourself is grad school difficult and can you do it!? Though a lot of grad students would say grad school is hard, I think grad school isn't so hard that it is impossible to succeed and even enjoy yourself. After watching let me know if YOU think grad school is difficult or not!

    your channel speaks to me. I'm struggling in undergrad right now (partly because I have a mental illness) and I'm not sure if I'll make it to grad school. Which I want to do. But the workload you mentioned did scare me off because writing is something I struggle with.

    • @BrisaMarie
      @BrisaMarie  2 роки тому +1

      I am so glad that my channel speaks to you!! It can be intimidating to start grad school and its hard ESPECIALLY when you live with mental illness and other types of personal barriers. I do firmly believe that with the right community and looking into what resources each school has you most likely will find a school that can support you!
      Also, don't let the workload scare you too much! With time you gain the skills and personal strategies to get through it all!! I really hate reading and thats like 90% of grad school lol but somehow i made it work lol (i have a video that talks about what I do to make it work) but lol the most important thing to remember is if you really want it you TOTALLY can make it happen!

    Is it true that in the USA you don't have finals and thesis at the end of undergraduate studies?
    To get any degree in Russia you have to write a thesis. It's easier in bachelor's degree, of course, and consists of only 30-50 pages, but still. And we also have a final exam which consists of three-five basic subjects for this profession. If you fail any of these two, you don't get a degree. Though you can try to pass them next year

    • @BrisaMarie
      @BrisaMarie  8 місяців тому

      Hi! The process is different in the US for sure! In undergraduate studies you get final exams/tests/papers after every course! So rather than one big one at the end you have many throughout your career. Though a person's major heavily impacts if they are writing papers or taking tests. Engineers, for example, will take more exams than an Art history major who would be expected to write more papers. Some professions still require a major to test to work in the field even after you graduate in the US. So nurses or architects can get a degree in nursing or architecture but still need to pass their professional exam to be able to work in their profession, but that is not facilitated by the university... though the university is expected to prepare them to be successful for this test! Hope that helps!

    I weirdly gound my masters (postgrad) as easier than bachulors (undergrad)

    • @BrisaMarie
      @BrisaMarie  8 місяців тому

      You know... I can 100000% understand why! For me, I enjoyed the work I was doing in my masters and PhD that there was no "busy work" or unrelated courses and that alone made it feel easier... But I know many people who would strongly disagree! lol hahahah But I definitely can understand your perspective!

    Specialized programs are undergrad or grad? I mean like certificates for around 2 months...

    • @BrisaMarie
      @BrisaMarie  Місяць тому

      Hi! so it depends, but in general they are kind of their own thing. So if harvard has a specialized certificate in diversity leadership or business after the 2-3 months you will have that certification but it wouldn't be the same as a degree.
      That doesn't mean they are unimportant because they can really be helpful with getting raises or switching fields. But they just aren't accredited in the same way degrees are!
